(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! Don't work to hard Sue!
Sorry your not sleeping Susan!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

lk, my secret is i clean all day, walk 2 miles a day, eat nothing but fruit and veggies, and a little meat at dinner.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like your doing good! When you run out of things to clean, you can come here! ^_^

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow!! This is what happened when Kel monopolize the pc. So much chatter without me!

Cookie, Sue, it's always a good time to be had when two close friends get together. Wish there's a sistah within an hour's drive from me, and I won't be missing on physical contact.
Lucky you, besides getting cider from Sue, you got unexpected bulbs in honor of Gigi. Then top that off with Joan's freebies.
Didn't know you're extending your feline family. Picture please of Moxie! Another one you will be spoiling for sure.
Tell Bertie hi for us, and if you said her salsa is good, then it must be so. Cause you and I have the same taste in food!
Wishing you and Sue have more good times. Certainly lifted up your spirits didn't it?

Sue, how are the twins by the way? Any new activities for them at school?

Before I get derailed.. speaking of salsa.
LK, remember the jar of Julio's salsa you've gifted Kelvin with? That jar says "Mild Salsa" on the label. Kel tried it, and he hurriedly passed that on to me. It's hot!! I have to agree for his taste buds!! If that's mild, he said, he wonder what those folks in your area consider hot!
Of course, it's not wasted.. I love anything hot or hotter!

Marion, wishing you a no stress visit, nor any unwanted unexpected situations with your mum. We'll miss you.

Don't know of banana squash here neither. Susan, that's what I'd thought of.. squashed bananas!! I've heard of banana flower plant. It's not a banana plant, but a shrub with blooms that smell like ripe bananas. My MIL had one, till one bad winter killed it, and I've never been able to locate one for myself.
I was in bed right after watching Extreme Chef. Since I've been using "Marjolaine" oil to help me sleep, 11.00 p.m is late for me!
Hope last night won't be a repeat for you tonight.

Congrats Sis Kathy. Losing all that weight would make you feel and should I add.. "act" better? Lolol!! That's good for your health sister and steer you away from diabetes.
Keep it up sis, and you'll be able to walk more than 2 miles per day, with energy left!

Cindy!! Pegi!! Alrighty my California girls!! How's the weather there?

It's cold mornings but warm afternoons here, and pretty soon it will feel like fall. My favorite time of the year.

Thanks for coffee LK, I sure need that! Got lots to do and nothing enjoyable. Hate to be on the road, especially when gas price is around $3.80 a gallon. I understand that in some states it's higher than that.

Have a blessed loving day, sistahs.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, let me know if you need more of that salsa, and I can get it mailed. i will mail you some that says HOT if you want. Gas here is $3.54, and if you go to wal mart, and buy a gift card, it is 15 cents cheaper.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - gas is HOW MUCH??????

I got to sleep about 1:30/2am, and up at 8:30 - late for me.
Just had my shower and will go to a church sister's home to prune her shrubs - she's paying me, how nice is that?!

It's going to be as hot as it ever was this summer, this afternoon (31c / 88F). Believe it or not, we have frost warnings overnight..... We have the most Changeable weather in Calgary!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! I changed it Susan!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL good thing, cuz I was NEVER going to Tx if gas cost That Much! lol (not that I could afford to, anyway..... lol)

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning ladies,

getting ready to head to Sheri's for our monthly dinner party. Then back home early morning then to Taylor's soccer game

Our temps are mid to high 90's until next Wednesday, hope it doesn't cool off to much next Thursday we leave for Reno for Street Vibrations and have some mountains to ride thru before we get to Nevada desert

I don't know how much our gas is, I haven't been anywhere for two weeks now, but I think Doug said it was $3.87

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have a good time Cindy!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

What did I miss?????
LK, did you misplaced a decimal point?

Closest WM for us is in Whiteville, NC and gas here is @ 3.80something. About 20 mins. away.
Across a border town, about 10 mins, it's 20 cents cheaper! There's a gas station on the border line, addressed SC, but charging NC price! Pure greed there. Needless to say, we fill up across in SC.

Thanks for the offer LK. I'm supposed to cut back on spicy food! Kinda hard when I'm addicted to it. Thank God for Protonix.

Cindy, this summer @ the HD fest in Myrtle Beach, we've been noticing a lot of trikes. Guess the baby boomers.. those around my age.. with aching knees and not so steady anymore prefer them. Seen a lot of women riding solo on trikes too. I found the seats have more room for widening behinds.
Have fun at the gathering Cindy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

When I posted the price of gas here, I forgot the decimal point, and said it was $354, not $3.54!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LOLOL!!
@ that price LK, it will be cheaper for you to fly to the next town!! LOL!!!!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

It is sooooo hot here, in the triple digits. I had my office window open and hot air rushing in so closed it as fast as I could. First time in triple digits here so guess I shouldn't complain........too much.

Gas is still over $4.00 a gallon here. Some places higher than others, most are $4.17 a gallon. We use more gas going to doctors. I think it is a little too late to learn how to use a skateboard. Don't think I could have even learned when I was young.

Another week gone and I haven't done anything. It is time to start planting my sweet peas, but they will have to wait for a few more days.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

geeze - at that rate, our gas is $1.16/litre, which would be $4.38/gal There's 3.78 litres/gal.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, our gas right now is $1.39 liter so believe over $5.00 USA gallon.
Gee, heading to the states next weekend, I'll be thrilled for low gas prices. Lol

Imagine, rained most of the day, lower temps...here I've the fireplace going to take chill out of the air.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yikes............. I'll tell the world - that's expensive, and you'd be better off getting it stateside......

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

It is so hot here I think I can fry eggs on the cement! Plants look sad, will go out and brave the scorching rays of the sun to give them a drink or two. I honestly believe Sept. is our hottest month, not a happy thought. Sowing of my sweet pea seeds will have to wait a while. Now is the time for planting them so will have a little time to make up my mind.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Afternoon sistahs.

Betty, 'petrol' is about the same in France. More than a dollar a litre. But then, those that live in the city wouldn't really feel the pinch, compared to us living in the c'try with no alternative public transportation.

It's supposed to be cooling off, but I don't feel it yet, here. No seed sowing here, Pegi. I've been giving my gf seeds for her to germinate. I'm bad at that.

Finally... could go on here without 'error' showing.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pegi, it is nice and cool here the past few days, only 73 right now. Doors are open, and I have a pot of chili simmering, and will be making a cast iron skillet full of cornbread to go with it!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

my goodness, Pegi!!! triple digits!!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

all i can say is

"ROLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL"

OH YEAH, WERE ARE HAVING ROAST HOG!!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Sounds like your team is winning Kathy!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yah, sis Kathy's team annihilate the hogs. 52-0! Might as well give the BCS trophy to Alabama now, and forget about playing the rest of the year! There goes the ranked Arkansas.

Crissy, if you're lurking, what do you think of Tyler Wilson talking to the media like that and throwing his team under the bus? My opinion, he's not the coach and he still had to work with his team once his arm heals. Wonder if he'll get support?

Hello everyone. A happy Sunday for me, as my favorite SEC teams won last night. Tigers was 63-14.. the smashed the Idahoans! Then the overrated USC west, got beaten again by Stanford! It will make it the 4th straight year. Ain't fair, when USC west is ranked 2nd overall.. they're ESPN's darling!
There are only 2 SEC fans in church, so of course we naturally gravitate towards each other. The rest are Clemson fans, and they think we're disloyal!

OK.. I'm shutting up... back to life!

LK, did you finish all that chilli? I love warm cornbread and milk. What brand mix do you use? Jiffy?

DIdn't cook today.. leftovers only. Kel brought store bought pizza for work. A/C running, and for sure I don't want it to compete with a warm kitchen!

Hope you all are having a restful Sunday.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Making a BIG pot of soup........ yummmmm

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Tiny bit cooler today, and we will have a very cool night. DH says he can't take this heat, doesn't he realize everyone is in the same boat.

Susan, it is too HOT here for soup! I made swiss steak over rice. Turned out pretty good, but DH wanted to know when I went to Switzerland (always making jokes) and of course I had to say when he was napping. See what he misses when he naps too much, a wonderful trip to Switzerland.

Can't leave my kindle alone, seems I'm always charging it up. Read a couple of good books. Pixel of Ink sends me an e-mail every day with choices of books to read. I always manage to find one (free) to add to my library. Just one click and Amazon sends it to the kindle. How easy can that be.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, yes I use Jiffy mix for cornbread. Wish I knew how to make it from scratch, but hubby likes jiffy mix, so that is what I use! Chili is almost gone, maybe one or two more bowls left!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pegi - we're alternating from "too hot for soup" to "too cool Not to have soup". That's Calgary for you.........
Thanks to our Betty's son, Greg, I have no room for more books on my e-reader. I'll have enough to read until I'm 80!
Thanks again, Betty - I really, really, really appreciate the books!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Pegi, you should tell Darwin that he missed his yodelling lessons while he's napping!! You're such a funny lady!!

Susan, good thing about soups.. some you could have it both ways. Hot or cold!

LK, I use Jiffy too, but sometimes would add finely chopped onions. We like our cornbread savory, and this town prefer sweet ones.. just like their hush puppies.

Wonder why I'm awake at this time? Had to make an overseas call to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.. 12 hours difference.
I finally managed to locate my old school teacher who had taken me in when I left home @ 15.
We grew apart for 40 years, and I had been trying to look her up, but the Singapore board of education wouldn't give me her personal info.
She's hospitalized with fluids in her lungs. Have a grave suspicion that it might be her heart.
When we talked.. I can't believe that all these years.. she still loves me.
And she kept telling me that she knows one day I'll find her :((

Please say a prayer for her, I so want to see her again if ever I could visit Singapore again. Malaysia is just across the causeway.
She's 71 and she played an important role in my teenage life.

Good night sistahs.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ooops.. if anyone's interested.
Bella had written this article for a Malaysian journal. You'll see a pic of her here.
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2012/4/12/lifefocus/11033623&sec=lifefocus

Night again sistahs. Will be back in the afternoon for sure!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - what a wonderful story Bella wrote! How truly genuine a person she is, and the history of the family comes to life with her telling......
I will certainly have her in my prayers. Thank you for sharing this truly remarkable family with us.

This message was edited Sep 16, 2012 10:26 PM

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That was fascinating Jaye. I will add her to my prayers.......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, I agree, that story is so fascinating! I will say prayers for her too Jaye! I am so glad you found your old teacher!

Morning everyone!

Marion, hope you had a safe trip, and you are enjoying your visit with your Mom. Praying that her UTI is getting better!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you my sistahs. This means a lot to me.

Bella's a remarkable person. She's a walking encyclopedia when it comes to English literature. Having taught in England and Japan, she decided to teach in Singapore.
She taught me more than just within the confines of a classroom. She even held an unstructured French class at her own home, where 15 of us didn't just learn to parlez but most of the time became her audience.
I came knocking on her door one day, after failed attempts to get my girlfriends' parents to take me in. My father was constantly abusing me, and I had enough.
God's so good to me, when Bella took me in.
Living with her, she 'guided' me to a higher realm of independant thoughts, where my parents wouldn't. She taught me that it's okay to be a different breed of Asian. It's okay to break tradition.
She exposed me to words like atavistik and existentialism and intellectual philosophers, such as Bertrand Russell and Nietzsche. She takes such joy in regaling the day when she was one of the selected students from the British Commonwealth to be invited to Trinity College, England to meet that great philosopher, Bertrand Russell.

Up to now she's still single. Guess where there are nuns who dedicate their lives to serving God, she serves education.

Brilliant as she is, she always says that intellgence isn't inherited but cultivated. Hence a monkey could be trained.. up to this day.. I wonder what that meant! Lol!!

For one that's almost an atheist, I was surprised when Bella got excited after telling her that I've accepted Christ as my one true God. Praise the Lord when she told me that she's attending a Catholic church. That's a start in making things right with the Lord.

I wish I'm close to her to take care of her. She moved back to Malaysia when her lecture days at the Singapore University are over. There's only one living relative left, and that's older sister Flora who lives in Hawai'i. They're estranged by choice, and I had to remind Bella that her only nephew's name is Oscar!
By the way, Flora's married to one of Henry Kissinger's former aides.
Blessed is she, when a very concerned college friend persuaded her to buy an apartment across from him, where he and his family can keep an eye on her.
So.. what is family? By blood? Nope... by how the heart reacts.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Kel's so happy for me that I found Bella. He heard so much about this woman through the years, and God made Google for the right reasons too!!
Wonderful man as he truly is, he says that if he could afford it, he'd send me to K.L for a reunion.
Phone calls are cheaper!

Sistahs, it's like one big load off my shoulders when I heard her voice.

Barb, any more news on Norm?

Off for second round of chores. Nope, not cooking.. refill meds and pick up babies food. Be back this evening.

Have a good Monday sistahs.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bless Bella..... and the fact that She found Christ, too

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, I too am glad to hear that she has accepted Jesus in her life, and so glad you were able to call her, and hear her voice. I know you were so glad to talk to her! Not to mention the education you got from her, and Bless her for taking you in her home!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I just finished reading Bella's story, so interesting. Jaye it is so wonderful that you found her since she was a very big part of your life. Adding Bella to my prayers, and God willing someday you too can meet in person again.

We aren't in the triple digits today, but it still is hot. Last night it was so cool, would have liked to take a sleeping bag out in back to spend the night. But then, I don't know what kind of bugs are out there. Yuk Heat and lack of water doesn't stop those vines from growing over the fence though.

great story. Will put Bella in my healing energy meditation time. I do hope Jaye one day you two can reunite .
not much going on today ,,, did cider pressing today. we moved along good. then a screw dropped in the grinder .... uhg. got up and running again.
off to volleyball practice.
