Hi Ladies,
Marion, Happy Belated Birthday!!!!!

Been working on glass totems, made a bird bath from vases and plates. Working on a lavender one, just waiting for a vase from Doug's step-sister.

Also playing around with my new camera. I had it sitting on my desk on a tripod and got this pic of two hummers feeding. Too bad telephone pole is in background.

Remember seeinh at the fair those photo booths that took strip photo and you made funny faces each pose?? My camera does that, so cool. So I am going to start a photo album of our girls get togethers that we have each month. Have strip shots of each dinner party. First one will be this Friday night.

Wednesday prayer night tonight

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Cindy, the totems are wonderful. How creative.

How in the world did you get 2 hummers to sit peacefully and drink. Mine fight like you wouldn't believe.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Mine will sit but only for a moment....

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I have 3 hummers and they do fight but this was taken early morning I don't think they were quite awake yet. They start hitting the feeder as soon as it's barely light

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love those totems Cindy! Nice shot of the hummers too!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yayyy.. a good reason to visit London soon, Marion! Just to catch the dream cast!!
Yep. that's me "Master of the House.. Keeper of the zoo.. Charging for the lice...extra for the mice" Lolol. Thanks Marion, I love it!!

LK, good prices on Joann's fabrics. Sure wish there's a Joann close by.

That's one good opinion, Sis Kathy. You need to drink some red wine before bedtime. Helps you with a good night's sleep.

Prayer time for me soon, thanks Susan. Will say extra duty prayers for ALL and sistahs, please include Synda in yours too.

Cindy, your totems are so pretty. You need to set up a booth with what you can make. Such talent.

Had only one hummer, I think it's a scout, that checked my garden. There are plenty of blooming gingers that I know are palatable to their fine stomachs, but I think the cats scared it off!!

jaye funny you mention china having a rise in diabetes. When Tim was there he saw many many chunky children . But they young kids 20 somethings , they are all still sticks . The girls all were high heels. Well that is what Tim observed. ?
not much going on here
looking forward to my visit with Cookie tomorrow.
CIndy pretty pretty.

P.S. LK, I have to do 20 blades for the bigger DP. Think I'll do a much bigger one to turn into a purse!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Or how about an apron?

Yah, I saw that lovely apron. She's selling it on Etsy for more than $40.
Thanks for the ideas.

LK, I was thinking of straight edges instead of the pointed ones, then fold down one side for an opening. Gonna be a semi circle tote.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - I've been running around like a "chicken with its head cut off" and so tired. I just want to stay home, and do some "home-stuff" Don't want to go out, but I have to......... Everyone at the Church is trying to keep me busy, but I just want to stay home...... I have some baking to do for the Fall Supper, sewing (which I can't do because my sewing area is in the den which is torn apart and messy - blocking my sewing table......), and "doing up" potatoes, corn, tomatoes, and bananas. Speaking of which, I'd better get the burners cleaned - spilt oil on them last night when frying fries, and the smoke alarm went off and called the Alarm company......... can't cook until that's cleaned or the alarm will go off again......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Make your own apron, it looks really easy!

35 POUNDS AND LOSING!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Kathy - that is phenomenal!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Way to go Kathy......but I think I might have found them.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy, that is great news! Marion, I think those pounds came to Texas!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Some definitely found their way to Florida. Thank goodness I will be with my sister for the next couple of weeks....she doesn't cook!!! Seriously!!! I just buy me yogurt for the evening and go to the sandwich shop at the nursing home for lunch and choice very carefully.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy, are you trying to lose weight? If so, how are you doing it?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Funny thing I heard at the Dr.'s office the other day.
I was standing in line to check in for lab work. There was a young lady, (probably early 20's) sitting with her Mother, and as they were listening to a cooking segment on the TV, the young girls said, "Oh, that sounds so good, but I don't think I can do that, it needs ground beef". Her Mother looks at her, as did all the waiting room people, and said, what are you talking about, we eat ground beef all the time. You eat meatloaf don't you? The young girl said yes, but that is with hamburger. When she was told that Ground beef and hamburger are one in the same, everyone laughed so hard.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL sounds like MOM needs to teach someone to cook duh!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Big time!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hamburger vs ground beef........... does she know that they, and steak, come from a cow? LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I doubt it!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

siiiiiiiiigh here's my DUH moment. I have a recipe called "Not-a-Banana Cookie.
I didn't even read it to make it before......... I have TONS of bananas (actually about 40 of 'em), and figured I'd use this recipe.
Well......... it called for Banana Squash.......... I'd taken that for a mis-type and thought they meant Squashed Bananas (as in, mash 'em!). Had never heard of a Banana Squash before, but decided I'd better Google it........ sure 'nuff, there IS a Banana Squash, and I don't have one, so NOT making the cookies lol

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL...gosh, I don't know what was funnier....hamburger vs. ground beef or squashed bananas....sorry...couldn't help it....lol

Great fun with Sue as always. Took Moxie to get fixed. Dropped her off at 9:00 was supposed to pick her up at 5:00. Those of you who went to Joan's house with me in 2010 know what her garden is like and I went there last night to get a couple of free plants from her yard. I ended up with two boxes piled to the top and over. Oh Geez...I started planting that stuff after Sue left and when I looked at the time it was 5:30. It takes 25 minutes to get there! But they were still there and still had about 5 cats to be picked up. Both ladies that worked there said what a sweet girl she is. In fact the Dr. came out specifically to tell me what a good, sweet girl she'd been. She's laying around now still a little groggy.

Sue and I went to a garden center and then stopped at a local apple barn. Her apples and cider are sooooo much cheaper than there. I'm so glad I had her bring me a peck and a gal. of cider. I got a pound of honey from the place she works, too. At the place we stopped today, I got a couple of caramel apples and an apple type (just 1) that I hadn't had before. It was called gingersnap. Kind of looks like a golden delicious.

Sue brought me some bulbs to plant in Jessica's honor. Hiacynths and crocus. She'll have to tell you the names, cause I forget already...no wait...one is called Gypsy Queen. Can't remember the other one. She brought garlic that she grew, too.

I sold another set of mushrooms and the girl is coming tomorrow to pick them up. Only thing is, then we're going to lunch, so I'll be spending my earnings! Oh well, a good time will be had for sure.

I helped Bertie make Salsa yesterday, omg, it is soooo good. This is the 3rd batch she and her son have made. She'd already given me a pint and a quart and the other day I took $10 and asked if I could buy some. She stuck the money down the front of my shirt and gave me another pint. Then she asked if I wanted to help them make some yesterday and she'd give me some if I helped...well.....NO BRAINER!

Okay, still checking threads and need to find some dinner. Sue and I had mexican for lunch. It was yummy. But that was a long time ago!

Oh Sissy, I'm so proud of you losing 35 pounds. Makes me ashamed of myself for being chunky. I'm sure your Dr. is proud of you ,too. Had to tell you and LK, wanted you to see this, too. My 2 brugs that you sent me earlier this year are both sporting little tiny buds finally. They're maybe 1/2 inch long. Sure hope they bloom before frost!
The variagated one is only about 18 inches tall. The Caroline is probably almost 4 ft. tall. Sure hope that the cuttings I take will make it this winter!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol joyce - that's why I told peeps about my squashed banana! To make 'em laugh!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sounds like a wonderful day Cookie. Wish we had access to fruits like you do. You wouldn't believe the tomato fields near us by NO, they will not let the public pick after they have finished their harvest. Unbelievable. In south Florida we did that all the time but here, they had rather plow them under.

See you ladies in a couple of weeks so behave. Well, as much as you can and still have fun. If I can get on the internet at my sisters I will but most of you know that is "iffish" at best.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, I have never heard of the banana squash either!

Cookie, sounds like you two had a good day today, lunch, gathering plants...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Drive safely Marion!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks LK.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks LK - I felt silly not knowing about a banana squash, but I don't think it's a common squash anyway lol
Marion - keep safe, happy trails, and I hope you have a pleasant time with your Mom & Sue.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It's 1am, and I can't sleep - anyone else up?
