Morning Betty, sounds like your having a blast! We have not heard from Mary too much!
Susan was out camping, hope she had a good time too!
Katie, sure hope you arrived OK!
am enjoying..how many miles on the new wheels?
There is somethink to say about wearing no makeup..been waiting for Suzanne to finish for last 1 1/2 hrs. Lol
LOL! I don't wear make up either! Just seems I can never get it to look right, so I don't try any more! What are your plans for today?
Arrived safely, days inn, Memphis..beautiful room. (Crissy same hotel we stayed at with the guitar pool). Just organizing our thoughts and the map and off we go..talk about hot/humid
Suzanne has vitiligo, hands, face need special covering meds thus the long process..me I'm just a wash/dry and drip kind of gal
LOL!! Betty that was a good hotel, glad you made it there my dear, how was Nashville?
I wear make up and it takes me 5 minutes to put it on.
Hey Crissy, how are you doing? Find an apartment yet?
Hello All !
I read up last night and went to post and was just Waaaay too exhausted....
(HUGS)
Had a long day today as well... but I'll try to pop back on with the "night shift" as usual. Trip was like Betty's.... GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO..... just a 3 day weekend really...went way too fast.

now getting ready for my knee surgery on Friday, orthopedic said i can swim in 4 or5 days
cant wait till all this is done lol
enjoying reading on your trip have fun
Hey Liz,,what kind of knee surgery? Is it a knee replacement? Sending lots of prayers for a speedy recovery.
Mary, so glad you had a good week end, why do they have to go by so fast?
Really LK !
Wow what a weird and crazy day. And then I find out that my cousin's 19 yr old daughter died in a car accident Friday night. None of their side of the family ever really attends the Family Reunions... but we were all thinking and talking about them while visiting and never knew this was going on. I had just received her graduation notice in May, sent her a gift... got a nice Thank you note back. so sad.
Hey everyone!!! Just found this thread. Sorry to hear about the lost of your cousin's daughter. Are they from here Mary?
Thank you Jeri !
No they are closer to Suse and Thunder.... This was my Mom's Sister's son. He is a great guy...we were close growing up... I need to think of something special to do... I thought maybe in lieu of flowers to send some Harry & David to the house? Is that appropriate? Samantha was one of 6 children. Brian had 2 with wife 1, his wife had 2 with hubby1...then they had 2 together. I always looked up to them with 6 children and they were/are great parents....had custody of all 6.....

Hey Jeri, how ya doing?
Mary, so sorry to hear about the accident!
Welcome Jerri, glad you found us..please stay, nicer group you'd not find anywhere..Baton Rouge, our Mary's part od the country..drats should have had a reunion with Jean, Mary and Jerri
Mary so sorry to hear of the death...how very tragic.
Evening all, picture me in laying in bed after a long day..turn to the right and Elvis is giving me the eye, look at the mirror in front of me and see his pictures behind my bed above my headboard, enough to get ones blood boiling!
Now where shall I start..
Ride to Memphis was enjoyable! As you know I'm a planner, had several things on the agenda
. Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King was assassinated
. Schwabs Hardware
. Walkway of the Stars
. Beale Street
. March of the ducks-Peabody Hotel
started with the Lorraine Hotel..odd experience.. It just happened to be the 51st reunion of the Baptist session , (hoped to have 4,000 in attendance over the next week)we arrived at the Lorraine Hotel just as the marchers were arriving, preachers were set up at the doorway where he was shot and celebrations started..bet I could count on one hand the whites that we're in attendance..Suzanne and I being 2 of them...ooops battery low, have to toe my post in a bit
I've seen Gr

Mary I am truly sorry. That is such a shame!! I will remember Yall when I'm down on knees tomorrow. Her parents will be glad that they took the time to enjoy their children.
Thanks LK, good to see you over here!!!
Betty it is really good to make your acquaintance. Let me get this straight, you are on a trip? To Memphis?? A shame that you aren't gonna be in that neck of the woods Sept. 22, obbbird is having a plant swap. I've thought of trying to go but unless Jim comes home and takes me I doubt it.
I'm so tired I can hardly type. Talk with you good folks tomorrow.
Cross posted there Mary. I would love to but I'm still trying to get Ashley back into the high school and I have 2 appt. tomorrow at the school board. Seems like that is my new address. LOL!!! Not really!!!
Hi Jeri - don't think we've ever met........ I'm Susan, from Calgary :-)
I'm also back from camping over the long weekend - was great!
I'm so sorry for your loss Mary. Sending prayers for your family.
Can't wait to read Betty's next report!!!
Morning, hope you are all faring ok in this heat!
Back to yesterday,
Loved the singing and hearing excerpts from Martin Luther King's speeches, now here comes the odd part 'for me'. Situated just up from us was a woman of black decent who lives in the area..she had a table set up, one of those blow horn type things that magnified her voice, she kept yelling at us saying this was a segregated area, for us to leave..kept bellowing out whits/leave, not welcome or of the sorts..people around us said there is one in every race..first time I experienced racism geared at me!!
But the entire visit to the motel/museum was more than interesting..
Then down to Beale street, Crissy ate at same BBQ rib place..talk about yummy..
Had an artist do drawings of us, interesting individual
At 4we headed the the world renoun Peabody Hotel for the March of the Ducks..omg I want to be a duck..sitting in the middle of this elaborate water fountain in which ducks have swam since 30's. NO. not same ducks. Lol. Exactly at 5 after the grand Marshall rolls out the red carpet, set a staircase the ducks come marching down the aisle into the elevator then taken to their lodgings to start the same tradition of coming to the fountain at 11am
Cute to see
History of the Peabody Hotel is interesting to say the least.
Was nice getting back to the hotel for a swim in the Elvis pool..didn't sleep more than a few hours, been watching hallmark shows 1/2 the night..watch me fall asleep on Bourbon Street tonight.
Mary, I d-mailed you
Time to run
Judy, hands on hips here!
Linda Kay im having arthroscopic i have a torn meniscus that is driving me nuts!
Betty, sorry to hear there are still racist people in this world. Would love to see pictures of the duck parade, that sounds like it was a lot of fun!
Liz, hope it all goes well for you!
Susan, how was your week end? Hope it did not rain on your week end!
Mary, so sorry to hear of the loss in your family. Small world indeed as I read about the accident just the other day in the Gainesville Sun..some of those roads around Palatka can be a challenge!
Betty, what a trip!!! Unfortunately racism is still alive and it does feel odd when it is aimed at you.
Hi Susan so nice to meet you!!! My DH was pulling steel to Alberta from Colorado and ended up above Calgary at a nuclear plant near a big lake. He said it was gorgeous country. I've had the pleasure of visiting Victoria and Ontario and hope one day to make the journey to your beautiful town. We love camping and had the privilege to travel from 2003 to 2005 in our motorhome with a group of friends across 38 states, Canada & Mexico. We also did a cruise to Alaska & Hawaii and flew into Anchorage and traveled to the Kenai Peninsular then we came home in July, 2005 to let the price of diesel come down and was here for Katrina. Jim has been in a truck ever since. He came home 31 days last year and may have a little more time here this year but not much. Well that turned into a book!!! LOL!! I talk to much!!! In this case type too much!!!
Betty if there is anyway for you to swing by Baton Rouge on your way to N. O. I would love for you and Mary to come by for a quick visit. Who knows that Sea Grape may make it to my house after all!!! LOL!!! We could do lunch somewhere. There are some excellent eateries here!!
Mary HUGS for your loss, many T&P going out to your family.
Yeah obviously not going to make Memphis this year, I just can't afford it. boohiss.
Good Morning.
Condolences to you and the family Mary...so young, such a sad thing for all.
Hi Jeri. Long time no see...hope all is well with you. I know the school situation is crazy in EBR...good luck, I hope it works out in your favor.
Betty, sometimes it is hard for folks to move on. Guess that woman had her own agenda to deal with. It all just boils down to respect for all life....I hope you and Suzanne continue to have a safe and happy trip. Sorry i won't be able to join y'all in new Orleans...be safe and have fun.
Susan, glad ya had a good camping trip.
Good thoughts to you all
Jean
Hey Jean, you are soo right about it being a long time. I hope your life is on track! I'm trying to get Ashley back into Central. She had gone there until last year when she got sick and we had her home schooled. Now converting from Central to home school was nothing to it, but reversing it is almost impossible with all the hoops that we have jumped through. I think we are on the right course now and all I need is a summary letter from her doctor(which his office is working on). She'll be in the 9th grade at Central High.
Mary, I am so sorry for your families loss also. What a tragedy and young life. It is so hard as having a child that age yourself and realizing what can really go wrong when it hits so close to home.
I apologize for my absence, not feeling 100% still, pain med inflicted two naps already this morning.
I put a pork roast in the crock for dinner tonight, enough meals so leftovers will make pulled pork sandwiches for another day.
Also have enough squash I can make a small squash casarole but that means I have to turn the oven on. Hmm, I think it is worth it...yuummm.
Wondering how are Katie is doing state side and all her pre-surgical tests. Sending prayers for safe travels and good news....smoothly!
Betty, I would like to look Elvis in the eye like that. LOL Sounds like a Grand time!!
Barb, how are you feeling? I hope your not overdoing it in the sewing room.
OK, I need a bit of a smackeral of something.....
Waving to all
Debbie
Hi Jeri. So glad Ashley is better. I know she will love high school. Fortunately you all have a separate school system from BR. It is sad and scary what is happening to the public schools in this state. I am so glad we got our Grandson out of BR. Ascension schools are for the most part all great schools. He just graduated with honors this year and is going to RPCC until he figures out what his field of interest is.... Hopefully when that time comes, we will be able to afford LSU without mortgaging the house....grin
LOL!! We're looking at sending our grandson to RPCC for a math class that he has failed twice in Hammond.
Hi Everyone, I'm safely in Chula Vista. Got here yesterday after van trouble in Techate held me up a day. The $%*&(*&^#@% Homeland Security, which has yet to catch a terorist, does hold traffic up for 6-10 hours and my alternator went out. I though of Betty and the police when a good looking Meixcan man came up to my dead van and asked if I remembered him I said, "Of course, your'e gorgeous and I always remember good-looking mne," He helped me get the repairs done. I survived with only some difficulty.
Today I had blood tests, EKG and visit with GP. All is well. Gave GP a copy OF "The Fat Flush pLAN" AND SOME DRY FRUIT (NO SUGAR) JUICE MIX, REMINDING HIM THAT i HAVVE NO PROBLEM WITH HIS BEING OVERWEIGHT EXCEPT THAT i WANT HIM TO LIVE FOREVER. hE GAVE ME LOTS OF DRUGS AND WILL PROBALBY AT LEAST CHECK OUT THE BOOK SINCE IT HAS HELPED ME. Dang, didn't notice I hit the shift lock key. Oh, well. He asked what else he could do to hlep and I suggested he come hold my hand during the knee surgery. He said no but he did give he a hug. I also told him about my assuring Diane that if she was able to walk the day after surgery that I would surely be able to. Told him it's a friendly coompetition.
I'll go to the knee surgery class Thursday morning and see the surgeon that afternoon. I have acouple of sores on my leg and he won't be happy with that but I'm hoping it won't delay the surgery.
Will keep you all posted.
Mary, so sorry to hear about your niece. Very hard loss.
big hugs all around, katie
Sitting in hotel lobby, apparently room is not yet available..not going to panic, air is on..
I'm embarrassed to have asked Mary to meet up withme..yikes don't remember new Orleans being as it is..we are in a quaint hotel, problem is they've taken my car up in a car elevator and for me to get it down is a big to do
Want to respond to all but will have to wait to get organized
I'm waving though
Trust me Mary that is exactly how you want your car. We always stay in the quarter and just walk every where. Or take buggy rides if it's not hot on the horses. Trolley car is another alternative.
My Grandson lucked out....he got my love of numbers and DH's skill with them...grin. He had the opportunity to take the entry level RPCC algebra course during his senior year. Did well and got 3 college credits for it. GS Jordan is pretty good in math...if your GS is going there for the fall semester, he may be in the same class...Algebra 1100 I think is the designation.
Katie, so sorry about the car trouble...but glad you had help from a brown-eyed handsome man...grin. Do touch base with us so we know you are well and safe. Good thoughts on the visit with the surgeon...hope nothing delays your surgery.
Betty, by the way...New Orleans traffic is a PITA...trolley is fun, buggy rides also, but when it comes to driving, I would even settle for the bus. Hope y'all have a good time tonight. Think I must be brain dead...for whatever reason I thought you were in NO this weekend....PHOOEY..I actually could have gotten away this evening...too sorry, maybe next time. Enjoy your stay.
Hello to everyone...hope all is well.
