Sweet Interruptions # 245

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Congrats on losing 10 pounds, Sis! How long it took for you to do that?
Are you giving up etouffes and fried turkey?

Will download that tomorrow, Marion. Kel and I are living the F word!!
Marion, does that mean you will have to use a machine every night? Sleep aepnia is serious..

Saw Canada won a gold for kayakking, Susan. Didn't follow the medal tally for your country.
Nowadays we can't really tell whether the representatives are citizens or "bought".
Take Singapore for example.. never once a rep to any Olympics prior to this. All of a sudden a bronze in table tennis?
Malaysia with it's strict Muslim rules, for this year has reps in the men's and WOMEN's diving!!!
All of them from brought over from mainland China!! And from what I've been told, they are paid millions! China has a surplus of great divers, table tennis players and of course gymnasts. Only a few can represent in the Olympics, so the rest will go to the highest bidders, I guess!!
Spain and Italy---- yes, you read that right---- has Chinese reps for table tennis!!

Good night sistahs.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

well yeah......... I thought China played a lot of table tennis.............
Canada with a gold for kayaking, eh? Great for us!!
Canada now has:
1 Gold each in Trampoline and Kayaking
1 Silver in Canoe Sprint, 2 in Rowing, and 1 in Swimming
1 Bronze in each of Canoe Sprint, Track Cycling, Athletics, Swimming, Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Judo, and Two in Diving.
Total of 15 medals

So sad that countries sell off their athletes...........
Maybe that's why I don't watch Any organized sports - too political and $$ oriented!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yeah Canada..

Waving to all!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Les Mis is one of my favorites. Thanks Marion....That was stunning.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning Ladies,

Oh Boy are we in for some HOT weather for the next few days, ugh. But lucky me I am going to be at Sheri's for the next 3 days. She is going thru some bad stuff and needs a friend badly. For some reason she quit her job, yikes. Don't know why but I'm sure I will find out today.

Here is one totem, I put together. Not too sure if I want to leave like this or put it on a "pedestal"

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

it took 2 weeks, but i wern't on a diet. must have been stress. i started with the fluff dr. yesterday

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Cindy, love the glass totem! And that is really hot, be careful in that heat!

Stress, will make anyone lose weight Kathy!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh how I wish stress did make you lose weight....I gain!!! Congrats Kathy, that is wonderful about the 10 lbs.

Barb, I love Les Mis also and have been very fortunate to have seen the stage production twice. My late husband also loved music and anything Andrew Lloyd Weber. I haven't had my stereo connected since moving and now I am seriously starting to miss it...have to see what can be done about it. I can't wait until the movie comes out in December with Hugh Jackman....good voice. Oh yes, mustn't forget to say "great eye candy"

Cindy, that is really pretty.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I know what you mean about Andrew Lloyd Weber. I have seen Cats four times!!! I so love the music from that one. I have never seen Phantom and I want to so badly It hasn't been produced around here in quite a while...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, if only we have a "Forrest Gump" ping pong pro!!! Lol.

Cindy, that totem is lovely!! Too pretty to be put outside, but the crystal facets will shine like diamonds in sunlight! That should sell!

Haven't seen any stage musical productions, but have read Les Miserables.
Wow, Barb.. Marion.. you are lucky to be living in a cultured city.
Last time I saw a play was in the 80s, in Lafayette, Louisiana. The great Vincent Price delivered a soliloqouy (sp) from Oscar Wilde's "Dorian Gray".
Will have to drive for hours to catch a Broadway like production.

Sis Kathy, stress makes me overeat :*( Mouth got to be busy to distract the mind.

It's been a very busy day for me today. Lord kinda forced me to move around. One of the cats fell critically ill. So, round the clock feeding of NurtiCal, liquids and making sure he stays warm.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

have y'all tried the schticky they advertised on tv? i did. mine came yesterday. me and the grand son had a great time cleaning with them today. i love it
www.schticky.com/

one more day of fair and i m so ready !

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

We are in the middle of a heat wave, always promising cooler weather like down into the 80's. Wish it would melt a few pounds off me.

DH had to go in for blood tests yesterday and today had another infusion of Zometha (for his bones). Nurse told him he will have one infusion each month through next May and of course blood tests go with that. His PSA has dropped down to 5.3 which is very good. It has to be the Zyntiga he is taking. That med has been on the market for about one year no wonder it is so expensive. I just pray the full funding will always be available for us. They are also keeping him on the Lupron shot every 3 months also. I can't thank everyone enough for the prayers.

Haven't heard anything about baby Brandi. Now that my sister-in-law is back from Texas I will have to get in touch with her.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy, I have seen the Schticky, but have not used one!
Sue, hope you have a great last day at the fair!
Jaye, sorry to hear about your kitty not feeling well. What happened?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - anything more about your critically ill kitty?

Pegi - continuing to pray for baby Brandi........ hope she's doing better!!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

for my sistah's

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Kathy, that brought a tear to my eye! It is so true.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks so much Sis Kathy! That is so nice!

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready.

Here are the boys with their teddy bears, and the collages they made. They had so much fun picking out the fabric for the bears, then getting the scraps and cutting out pieces of fabric, then taping them to paper.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Praise the Lord for Zyntiga, Pegi. Darwin must be in better moods now since his PSA count has dropped immensely. Will continue to pray for his and Brandi's health.

That's a beautiful statement Sis Kathy. That's how I feel about everyone here. It upsets me to miss any sistahs gathering, but for all the chats we have here or over the phone, it makes up for the lack of physical contact.

LK, if you didn't mention paper... i thought those are stuffed teddies. sorry no caps, humphrey's sister wanted to lay in my arms.
that's wonderful grandma that you're teaching them to be creative and starts with textural art. fabric is a good choice and who knows one of them might be the next ricky tims.

humphrey has joined his other adopted siblings. he died at 6, in my arms. towards the end, he remained ever the gentleman. he expelled his last breath, like a sigh and fell into permanent sleep. no throwing back of the head nor fighting for breath, just a sigh.
how could death of a cat be so beautiful.
he fell ill all of a sudden, and within a few short hours, jesus claimed another sinless cat.
humphrey and rudy, his sister, both orange, kinda fell from the sky. we have not one orange cat outside, colors are grey, black and white.
then all of a sudden 4 orange kitties showed up. only humphrey and rudy stay indoors. we believe someone snuck up to our back porch, going through the woods and dumped these kitties.

don't think that animals don't grieve. rudy refused to leave me today.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

oh jaye, i'm so sorry for your loss.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry to hear that Jaye, and yes, they do grieve, just like us. They have feelings, and they miss their family too!
The teddies are stuffed, the fabric on the sheets of paper are the collages the did.
Pegi, praying that his numbers continue to get better!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks sis and LK. With all these experience in giving care, hmm.. maybe I should be a vet tech!

I realised that now, LK. The boys certainly did a good job, and of course under the wise guidance of grandma.

When you think things settled down a bit in my house... I have to trip over printer wire and go rolling down the ramp!!! Landed face down, had to wait for Kel to get out of the bathroom to get me up!
Iced the knees, thank God for the ramp, I would have broken one limb for sure.
Wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. The ramp was placed over the stairs when I broke my leg, so it's easy to maneuver the wheelchair. He had wanted to remove it, after my leg's healed, but somehow, I like the convenience of the ramp. Thank God, again.

Think my forehead has a bluish mark too... lolol... Kel caught some explaining to do if it doesn't go away by Sunday!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, I am so sorry about Humphrey. Yes, cats absolutely do grieve......the Mau refused to let me sleep on Ross' side of the bed for over a year after his passing. I still have one of his housecoats hanging in my closet and she found it the other day. She continuing pawing at it until it came off the hanger and it is now her bed. Funny how animals can be.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Jaye, you need to be careful please? Hope the bruises are not too bad.
Speaking of bruises, I was out playing yard hockey with the boys yesterday, and they use an orange ball instead of a puck, well, I was the goalie, and Rory, went to smack the ball to make a goal, and I tried to use my legs to catch the ball, it hit me just below the knee, and now I have a huge bruise where it hit. That ball stung so bad when it hit! I told Rory, I have a souvenir to remember him by! LOL! He felt so bad, because he hurt Grandma.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Still haven't heard from anyone about our baby Brandi. My younger sister tried to get a hold of my SIL to ask about her and no answer. She wants to come down to see the baby before she leaves on her Alaskan cruise. Leaving San Diego flying to Seattle where they will get on the cruise ship. I would LOVE to go along, just hope she takes lots of pictures.

It's hot and as I start moving around the sweat runs into my eyes, so that's a good excuse not to move around.

You really did a great job on those teddy bears, you do work fast LK. Hope the boys enjoy them for many years to come.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Ladies,
I am here at Sheri's using her pc. She had beauty appt this morning so while she was gone I decided to do a little cleaning. Kicthen floor was dirty and there was a stick spot. LOL as I was mopping the mop bent in half.............man, so I bent it back and tried to use it gently but it finally snapped in half. Crud I only had half of the floor done. Could find any rags so I could finish it on my hands and knees. It is white and has was build up that is making it brown, yuck I hate that. So I did the best I could with paper towels. Of course I didn't get to finish just dried up what I started. Sheri doesn't know it but her little boy dog has been using door frame between kitchen and laundry room for his piddle post, was a long yellow stream (dried).

Then layed out by pool for awhile. Now getting ready for a dinner party and play dominoes afterwards. Sheri is going to fix lamb, uk I'm going bbq chicken, lol.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - sorry to hear about Humphrey's passing........ certainly cats grieve - I'm not surprised at all that Rudy is grieving the loss of his friend......
Now you take it easy and no more falling........... sounds like a nasty bruise!

Pegi - I wonder if your SIL is at the hospital with Brandi? Have you tried calling to see what's happening?

Well, I got a startle at work........ I asked my boss if it was going to be 2 weeks when my contract was up and she said I was welcome to apply for the job! I said "but the position closed today" and she said I could bring my resume in to her on Monday - that would be fine. We talked about some "issues" she has with my work, but frankly I think those could be overcome. She said that I'm a lovely person, and yes, people make mistakes, and she's anal about these things.......... Well peeps - don't know if you noticed it or not, but I'm a pretty intense person LOL Sounds like it would be a "match" lol
anyway, I will apply and we'll have to see what comes of it. Apparently there have been 5-6 people in the position over the past 2 years or so...... My boss, Darla, mentioned me applying, cuz I really thought the competition was over today and I couldn't apply....... guess she's happy with "who" I am, and figures I can get the other stuff "under my belt" lol

Jaye so sorry about your kitty. many healing thoughts to you.
Pegi good news on the psa going down, sending healing thoughts to your DH.
What a great poem.im touched to have you all in my life too.
Susan hooray for the job offer ! congrats
Pegi hope you hear from Brandi or your SIL soon about baby B.
CIndy eeeewwww on the pee.
LK you better not play anymore hockey with them boys LOL ... ouch. :)
You too Ms. J... i hope you start to feel better soon with that fall. sending healing thoughts to you also.
its only 59 out side today brrrrrrrr.....
not much going on today. just rest and lazy ahead for the day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

Cindy, enjoy your visit at Sheri's. But your supposed to be relaxing, not cleaning!

Susan, good luck with the job application! I know you can do it!

Sue, 59??? Wow, that sounds really nice! Were supposed to hit 110 today!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning sistahs.
Awww Cindy.. you should try that lamb. It's good with some mint jelly.
Our lamb are spring lamb with delicate tasting meat.. not like the older sheep the Mid Easterners and some Mediterranean c'tries prefer. The flavor is stronger.
That must be a nice Friday, bbq and then the pool after helping Sheri with her floor.

The boys certainly have memories to last forever, LK.
Imagine the pride Rory would tell his schoolmates that grandma played hockey and didn't cry like a girl when she got hit?
And then telling the girls that he made a stuffed bear.. thanks to grandma!!!!

Pegi, now before I attempt to do some gardening work, besides applying citronella oil on my arms to ward off the mosquitoes, I'd 'talcum' my underarms, all over my chests just so to take care of that excessive sweat in the heat!!!

Susan, I signed on to a temp agency when I first came here. There was a job opening that I was interested in, and the agent told me that I wasn't qualified.
Undeterred, I applied on my own. The agent was shocked to find out that the girl she had selected to fill in the job wasn't needed, as I got hired right away. There went her commission!!!
Good luck sistah!!

Sue, better a lazy day then a day with challenges! You deserve the rest sistah. Enjoy the Olympics, what's left of it!

Marion, that's a very touching note you had written about how your Mau reacted to Ross' passing.
When my ex came over to leave Ali (his dog) with me... for the next few weeks, Ali would sit by the door, waiting for his papa.
It took Kel to bring him out of his grieving.
I better not wish I have a Mau cat!!! Had always wanted one, just too expensive. Lo and behold years later, a stray with some striking Mau markings (some spots on her body) is now one of the cats that seek refuge on the back porch!!
She's truly wild and I can't even get close to her. Her ears are so erect! Nope.. nope.. nope.. not going to wish for a ragamuffin!!!!! Lolol!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, I had totally forgotten the housecoat was at the back of my closet but now it a nice comfy bed. I didn't buy our Mau either...as you said way to pricey..adopted from a shelter in Ocean Reef, Fl. Just be patient with the one that looks like a Mau, they are a skittish cat from what I have found. Once bonded...yours for life.

Pegi, great news on the PSA. I can't believe the progress that has been made in prostate cancer meds in the past 8 years. Thank goodness for research and the hopes of controlling this disease.

LK, I think I need a teddy bear after seeing yours. Only joking but I do like them. To funny about playing hockey with the boys. Ah, the things we will do for grandchildren.....and enjoy every second we are doing it.

Lamb....oh Cindy you should try but then again if you get a stronger lamb for the first try, it can be bad. I had some for dinner the other night and while I enjoyed it, it wasn't nice Spring lamb.

Well waving to all, Need to get back to my chores..not outside as it is raining...again? still?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Afternoon Ladies,

I'm back home for just the night, then leave early am to go visit my brother. Then I will spend Monday with daughter and kids swimming at the lake, home Tuedasy then.............................who knows, lol. (Making more glass totems)

The dinner party was hilarious!!!! One gal kept us laughing the whole time. Just the smell of the lamb baking was enough to make me gag, sorry but just can't hack that smell ewwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! Even though she "spieced" up with garlic and other seasonings.

Going to be 107 today and I need to clean the inside of my 4runner and wash the outside....think I'll wait until later this evening

Finally heard back from Medical, they want to be paid $61,000+ or value of assets whichever is lower. Well only asset is the house and it can not be sold to pay off Medical. Therefore Doug's mom is able to apply for a Hardship Waiver, but will take a couple of months to hear back from them again. Just hope it is in time for me to replant front yard before the cold weather gets here.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Baby Brandi is still in the hospital, her blood oxygen is still low and doctors did a procedure on her to repair the stent they put in her valve when she was born. My SIL was in Texas visiting her oldest son and family, but is back now. I'm sure the parents are staying at the hospital with their little one, but keep in touch with the G-Grandma with any news.. On going prayers are always needed.

I thank God that we were able to get the funding so DH can take this very expensive medication. Without it buying the meds. would be impossible. Really happy about the drop in the PSA and he is feeling pretty good, no side effects. Of course, with this heat he isn't feeling up to par, but then I don't think anyone is, but the ceiling fans really help and double pane window are a great help too.

I hope you get that position Susan, after all your searching you deserve a nice job with LOTS of benefits.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thanks for the info re: your temp position, Jaye - there's hope for me yet lol Thing is, if UFA hires me, they've signed a contract saying they wouldn't hire a temp within 6 months (or a year, maybe) without paying the commission to the Agency.
Whatever transpires, I haven't been given a job offer, only the opportunity to apply.

Pegi - this job would have loads of benefits - both the regular kind & discounts in the stores - they're partnered with Wholesale Sports and they sell Camping Gear!! And UFA is a farming co-op, so I could get agricultural supplies (gardening tools, fertilizer, etc. They also sell decorative stuff for your garden, like shepherd's hooks, and such.

btw - I entered a Corporate T-Shirt design contest - as one of the first 10 to enter I will get a $50 gift certificate for WholeSale Sports! I had a choice of about 15 companies and after looking at their catalogue I chose them :-)

good night ladies
im tired and will catch up in the morning
anyone heard from Cookie ? i have been so busy i need to call her soon.
hugs to you all
sue
