Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit and Chat

Linda Kay, as long as it is at a GMC/Chevy dealership. They have the wherewithall to get The computer readings and find out why the airbag didn't deploy. As long as the battery has not been disconnected the computer has its memory. What happened to you is important to GMC for their overall safety program. They will work for you in this.It was my error, I did not realize that the truck was taken to a dealership. Gunn can do the same thing as your dealer.

I agree with Debbie....to say you do not like him is very hurtful...because you do love and like the kid...just not his attitude and lack of respect.

I hear ya Katie...the heat causes me stomach upsets also. Glad you got a good night's sleep.

Hope everyone has a calm day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

thanks girls, will change the working but got to tell you maybe it takes hurting his feelings!!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

If he is anything like my 17 year old GS, the fact that you are disappointed in him and his actions will be hurtful enough.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All ;

Taking a mental health day off today. I just can't take the stress... how did I used to ?

Anyway... I'm so proud of you Betty that you would even say something to him about it. RE: The girls... no they do want to go... not that it's a family reunion but that it's at a hotel on the beach and they think they can "party" while they are down there...

Hubs just likes to overlook any arguements and thinks everything is okay.

LK - let your chiropractor know about your ribs. Sounds like they are broken... I broke a few with the whooping cough and had to forego the chiro for a while.... but maybe yours can work around that.
Good advice Jean and Debbie...
Hope you are doing well today Barb !

Katie - wish I could send you some cool air but now the rain seems to have passed it's HOT and muggy here...

Betty - I love to say I sang at Opryland once ! Well it sounds good... but I was in the middle school Choir LOL....

Will ya'll be looking for music in New Orleans ?

Kikely...his problem with his degree of aspergher sydrom is that change and big events aren't something he deals with easily.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good for you Mary taking a day for yourself..thought you might have needed one in two weeks lol
Mary does Lance really want to go?

Been looking and reviewing your favorite (TripAdvisor) they say that what was the fun thing to do listening to all themusic on Bourbon street has all moved to Frenchman Street, do you know of it, great reviews..just not sure how far from hotel it would be, don't want to venture out late night if it's totally at othe end of town..

Thanks for all the info. It really is helpful.

Baton Rouge, LA

Seems I've heard of Frenchman Street and I'll ask around...

It's not far from your hotel... Remember bars and music can be going on in broad daylight and there are quite a few folks milling around at all hours...

Thanks Jean for the map... that's very helpful. Did you see the street on the map Betty ? If you look at Cafe Du Monde / the French Market and then a few blocks to the right... you'll see a street going straight up with a lot of bars on there....

Last time Lance & I went we wandered Bourbon and found 2 spots with excellent live music...one more bluesy and one more rock & roll. I don't think you can go wrong with either spot just make sure you don't walk down any empty streets and you should not see too many of those based on hotel to Bourbon or hotel to Frenchman.....if you stay on the beaten path.

As I recall we tried Palace Cafe, Emerils, and other nice restaurants however our favorite meal was at the Crescent City Brewhouse. For cheaper drop-in eats I like Gumbo Shop which is near your hotel and has red beans/rice and Jambalaya as well as seafood (since you don't eat seafood). Good local flavor.

Bet you are getting excited !

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you both, yes, was just telling Suzanne had Paul not changed our holidays by one week we'd be leaving this Friday, drats, have another week to get through.

Sitting here playing with seeds, endless job lol

Lousy lunch, too chuch cheese and salt, yuk tummy is turning

Baton Rouge, LA

Betty - these folks just bought some advertising from me:

http://www.frenchmarket.org/

They plan a lot of free entertainment.
If you want a bit of history there is a FREE tour you can take from Decatur. It's the Louisiana State Parks and I can find a website on it if you want....

Victoria Harbour, ON

That must be at the corner of where we are staying because our hotels says we're near Jackson Square. I'm laughing, we already have tickets for boat tour and we are only there 2 days lol now how much can one do???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow she is hot..right now it's 96f/feeling like 106f

Weather warning..says large hail in Thea's area, thousands without power, here's hoping no damage in her area

High heat and thunderstorms to hit Ontario
Issued at Monday, 23 July, 2012
At 3:00 p.m. local time, radar indicated tornadic activity moving through eastern Ontario at 60 km/h in -- prompting Environment Canada to issue tornado warnings for Smiths Falls, Barry's Bary and Renfrew, along with a warning for northern Ontario's Nippising west area. All tornado warnings have since been dropped.
Temperatures soared across the province Monday, making it feel like 40°C with the humidex and triggering a cluster of severe storms.
Golfball-sized hail was reported in Ottawa late Monday afternoon. More than 8,300 customers are said to be without power in the area. Further east, in Eganville, there have been unconfirmed reports of a tornado touching down at a camp ground, leaving multiple trailers and at least one car damaged.
North Bay's Garden Village daycare was evacuated following reports of a possible tornado near Verner earlier today. No injuries or damages have been reported.
Thunderstorm watches remain in place for a number of communities across Ontario.
Large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall are possible.
Visit the Alerts section of the website to keep on top of watches and warnings across the country.

Stay safe Betty. The weather this year is so unpredictable.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wind is up but that is about it..

Marion, we must have really P£€€>d Mother Nature off.. How is the cupboards doing, anything left to set inside after your purging.have a call in to Jeff, he's on the water where it's not the best. Do you ever stop worrying about your babes??

Drats, Ann was suppose to come tomorrow mornimg and do water colors with the girls..just left a message at Darlene's to say she just got a call, one of her very best girlfriends lost her husband today..very unexpected. She had had sooo many deaths this past year, not sure how she is handling it..called, no answer.

mulege, Mexico

Just woke up after going back to bed and sleeping another four hours then doing some clean up. Tomorrow I will have Tony help me move my bed into my second bed (craft) room as the a/c works better there.

Kaiser surgery scheduling just called to tell me they got the surgery request and Ii'll be scheduled in three-four months. I can't believe how polite I was. All the screw-ups are enough to send me into a major screaming fit but I know it would come back to haunt me. I do thank all of you for your understanding and hlep in getting me through this.

Weight loss is now at 54 pounds. The upside of this heat and humidity is loss of appetite.

Think I will soak for a while now that we have water again.

hugs, katie

mulege, Mexico

After posting this morning I went back to bed. Slept soundly for another four hours. I still have a bit of a headache but an on the mend.

Got a call from Kaiser surgery scheduling. My appt will be in 3-4 months which indicates that I got lost in the schuffle, perhaps more than once. I was very potile but inside I was having a screaming fit. If I'd let it out it would come back to haunt me. Sure glad all of you are here to understand how frustrating this is being.

I'm gradually getting my sewing and other craft stuff organized and put away. Tomorrow I will have Tony help me move my bed to my second bedroom. The a/c works better there.

Foggy thinkng. I'm staying very quiet.

hugs, katie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LK - what a mess of a car for both of you, and the one who hit you!!
Katie - you are so good with the surgeon's office....... well, at least you have a timeframe for the surgery.....
Betty - hard to know What a teenager will react to, in wording..... they're the same yet different..... Poor Ann!
No, you never stop worrying about your babies......
Mary - the folks thinking about retiring from running the campground/trailer park are 55. Bob & I are older. Don't think we could keep up the cleaning, running around, etc of the campground. They don't have anyone hired to do the menial stuff, they do it all. 'Sides - it's an expensive thing to pay for utilities, etc of a campground. We wouldn't even begin to think we're qualified to do it - physically or financially that is. Keeping the books and the personality we could do. Just don't trust that we could make a "go" of it, so without that trust, I wouldn't do it.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Katie - glad you have hot water again, and that Tony is helping you so much.
Prayers for you dear lady, that you get the rest you need......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure how you kept your cool Katie..long time to wait for surgery. Hope you are not working long periods of time and having heat stroke..sure wish I could lose weight..still haven't had supper, should habpve a little something I guess..peanut butter/jam seems easy enough

mulege, Mexico

I need to clarify - I don't have HOT water again, I have WATER again. Welcome to life in rural Mexico.

I may write to the doctor about the appt problems. Don't know if this is a one-time problem due to personnel changes or if it's ongoin. Either way, when I can write to him calmly and clearly I will.

Meanwhile, any task that is even slightly dangerous can wait for Tony or wait forever. I am taking care of myself. First. Tony second. Then the dogs. Then the plants. The hot weather has also brought a ton of mixed bugs, none of them welcome.

The second bedroom is much cooler; better a/c so I'll start sleeping there tomorrow - or maybe on the floor there tonight. Me and the cockroaches.

hugs, katie

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello again !

Boy Katie not one thing it's another... cold vs. roaches not sure what I'd pick. What is Kaiser? I seem to remember a Kaiser Air Force Base ?

Susan you are in accounting ? would be adream though to own a campground or Bed & Breakfast !

Betty you'll HAVE To have beignet's one morning at Cafe Du Monde of course... then you can just walk to the French Market. If you don't have much time then just skip it... like a flea market but definitely has some neat items sometimes.

I'd put the DDay museum on the list. Any idea when you'll let me join you ? I may need to plan around work...

Hugs
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just talked to Ann, wanted to go over but she said she will try and get some sleep. They've been best friend since in their teens, then had kids, kids remained friends..thought he had a cold but seems Wayne had cancer.

Some people are so courageous, Wayne died Thursday morning (Ann was away in PEI) wake is tomorrow and funeral Wednesday..anyway Wayne's best friend died on the Tuesday..funeral was Thursday, Wayne's wife just lost her husband a few hours earlier and went to the funeral, didn't say a work about Wayne's death, was a support to the friends wife ..gee, strong woman..I'm rambling, likely this is not making any sense. Don't know how much more Ann can take before she breaks..she has had about 8 deaths this year.

Nice breeze, know rain is around but not in my neighborhood. Spoke with Jeff, they are having torrential rains, hail as big as golf balls but they are safe at a lock and won't take off till they know weather system has passed them by.

Mary wonder if Wednesday evening would be ok..we have boat ride n the afternoon, could make it late afternoon as well..but that would mean you would have a long drive..don't want to put you out...coming in on Tues. wonder if we met outside city limits?? I'll keep in touch via iPad so you know if all is going according to Hoyle. Cafe du mone is on my list, understand they are open all night long? Might be the only way to get everything on my list done, no sleep. Lol

Katie, glad you have your priorities straight, you do have to look after you first and then Tony....

All wound up, should be going to bed but doubtful I'd sleep

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

prayers for Ann.......... poor lady

We have massive storm here....going to shut down shortly. Betty must have sent it over.

Get some rest Betty....

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Betty - if we are saying Tuesday 8/7... can we have dinner that night?

CBS is doing a tour around the U.S. and will be in Baton Rouge on 8/8 and I might be "expected" to be there....They are promoting the new shows for the fall.

It's NOT a problem for me to come to whereever you are in New Orleans if we do it Tuesday because I'll just try to get a client to meet with me there early (3p? 4pm?) and then after I meet with them I'll be free for dinner...

Another thought is if I come in on 8/8 earlier and meet up for lunch then drive back for the CBS thing...

Sorry to hear about Ann's friend passing! Give her hugs from us please?
Katie, glad you have running water, please take it easy in that heat! Glad to hear your still losing weight.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

No Mary - I'm not in accounting. I'm an Executive Assistant to the Director of Member Relations at United Farmers of Alberta. I do have to process Expense Reports for the Delegates for different areas though. I'm in the Alberta Head Office.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Well the storms/rain passed us by, been well over a month no rain..who would have thought we'd be looking for rain.

Parts of Toronto got torrential rain, hail while others got no rain at all. Understand that Ottawa got the brunt of it, thoughts of Thea.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Sorry I've been MIA....pond tour is this weekend. We're on Sunday, so Saturday we will go see the others on the tour. Spending most every minute I can in the gardens.

Bfore I forget, Debbie, your bunnie is adorable.

We were blessed with six new kittens yesterday. What a good Mom Neeky is. We have a gray, 3 black and white and 2 pure white. The white ones are long haired. (Mom isn't). Not sure if any of the others are l/h or not. Will try to post pictures later.

Betty, hope I'm still on the schedule for a stop on your trip!!! Bed still available if you want it! ^_^

We are in the worst drought since 1936 in our area of Ohio. Talk about a pia!!! Water, water, water, or die, die, die!!!!!

Hope not to be so long away! Wish me luck for this weekend!

Lyndonville, NY

Joyce, good to see you back! Thank you on the bunny compliments, he is a spoiled rotten little thing...but love him.

We had the storm last night but things are still a bit droopy. I think we are in same situation as many others.

My Rose of Sharon is dropping all of its buds as it is just too hot and no water. This is what the hummers feed on for the next two months,
and there won't be any left.

Not sure what the day holds....but I am moving slow.

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Cookie, can't wait to see those new kitties! Good luck on the pond show this week end, sounds like you are staying busy!
Well, we finally got a rental car yesterday, it is a Nissan Altima, black. And there is no key to start it, you just put your foot on the brake, push a button, and off you go! When your parked, place foot on brake again, push button and it turns off. There is a little computer thing you have to carry with so it recognizes it is for that car on a key chain, but that is it.
Glad the storm missed you Betty, but hope it missed Thea and Dianne too!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving Joyce..ohhh more kitties for your dad to spoil lol
Ahhh bet you've been working day and night trying to keep the pretties for the tour, not an easy feat with no rain..you would be on well water wouldn't you?? With no rain you wouldn't want to deplete your reservoir. bet your gardens will be enough to make all who see 'ooooh and ahhhh'

I would have loved getting the rain from the storm, need it so badly.

Joyce, we are hoping to leave here at 1:00 on August 3rd., hoping boss lets us go at noon but we won't push it, 1:00 is better than working till 3:00 as we do normally on Fridays..that being said, if traffic cooperates seeing its a long weekend, no hour wait at the border likely we'd not make it beyond Columbus if lucky enough to get that far. If we leave early morning we'd not be passing your house till what..7am or 8am, could have coffee if you are up early enough..bringing seeds for you and Bertie, BJ's blouse and hoping to pick up Ann's camera..if too early please let me know.

By the way, how many hours did it take you to do the drive home after the gathering?

Debbie, I'm weeks behind you with my Rose of Sharon's, no buds what so ever! Phlox are just in bloom now. We'll remember these heat days when it's snowing and blowing. Have you been gabbing with Dianne, she ok?

LindaKay, hurrah, you've got wheels..can you believe all the new technology cars have today, mind boggling? Tomorrow you get to get details re accident right..are the aches and pains better today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, we get the police report tomorrow, and I am feeling better. Thanks! Knee is still a bit swollen, but getting better. Chiro crunched a bunch of bones yesterday, and it felt so good! I also called a lawyer about the air bags going off, he will talk to his co workers and get back with me. LOTS of paper work to fill out!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Overwhelming I'm sure!!!

Guess they have to discuss wether or not you may have a case.

All on my own this morning, so ver quiet..got files organized and documented and now it's sit and do nothing..all my planning for stateside is done, wonder if I could squeeze in a nap?

Glenview, IL

But she went to see the guidance counselor...was able to sign up for a class, She better do well this time...Mary, lol holding my breath with you...7 more weeks, in the meantime sure hope they get back in line. Well, yikes, i did nothing but goof on the computers this morning...So i better dash around and make it look lie I've been slaving all morning, ROFLOL........

Have a good day, be back tonight

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Guess I need to go back and read about Ann and LK's accident. See what you miss when you just pop in for a minute?

Betty, you tell me when you'll be here and I'll be up even if it's in the middle of the night! Seems like it took me 9 hours counting the time it took for me to drive home from Janices' house.

So you finally found out it was Ann's camera. When did she miss it?

My yard would be in better shape, but I'm too nice. This past weekend was Joan Day's sale (twice a year) and I called her last Monday and asked if she needed my help getting ready. Well, she said yes, and I worked for 10 hours. Then she asked me to come back on Friday to do it all over again! She gave me a marble hand carved frog and 35% off the plants in the driveway. In addition to that she told me to dig whatever little volunteers I wanted from her garden, so I did! So it put me 2 days back on my own stuff. Now it's raining so I can't be out there. I AM NOT complaining! We need it so bad!!!! I'm getting close to time to mulch. Then it will really look better. Hope it's good looking when you guys come, Betty! The weekend after you're here, is our Thomas family reunion, so it will be done for that.

The GDs Bryn and Emma are here today. They were here last week for a couple days and helped me in the garden. They helped me spread my last wheelbarrow full of compost. Today Emma did some trimming on the Japanese Maples but Bryn has been busy reading. Sounds like the storm is passing and the rain letting up. Radar shows a lull then some more rain, so I'll run out between and pull some more grass that doesn't belong!!! Have 2 1/2 yards of black mulch to spread and then I'll have to get red for the pathways. If time doesn't allow for the red, so be it!!!

Hello to my lil injun, Debbie, LK, Barb, my sis Marion, Susan, Katie!andMary, if I left out someone....waving to you, too!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, Dianne is doing much better. She is a bit busy.

It isn't my news to share...but...she has a new friend who is 8 weeks old today and he is making her smile quite a bit.

I am sure she will pop over here when she can and share.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe, she has a new furry friend? Can't wait to see what she has! Dianne, sure hope your feeling better soon!

Verona, ON

Go ahead Debbie and post a couple of pics if you like. I am the proud owner of a new Rottie puppy I named Diesel. I so hope he will help heal this aching heart of mine. Debbie and Paul got a chance to meet him when they visited me. We went over to the breeders and were able to enjoy the puppy pile of Diesel's sibs. HAven't trained a dog in 12 years - lots to remember.lol
