Mary, this Cracker Barrel goes in circles...sometimes is really great and then it is horrible. I am sure it depends on the manager and lately they seem to be going through a lot of new ones. Sure it will settle down before the students come back as that is always $$$$$ in their pockets!

Betty, my house was built in the 1970 by my next door neighbors--odd having them next door. They lived here about 3 years and according to the wife, a couple stopped one day while they were working in the yard and made an offer they couldn't refuse. Sold the house and all furniture. Built them another home on the lot next door. The people who bought the house I don't did any chances for the 30+ they lived here. It is a multi-level house but we love it--especially the view of the lake. It is nothing special but Kim and I are happy here and besides, Ross chose the place not realizing his cancer would stop responding to the treatment so soon. Just needed some "our touches" on the inside to make it home.

Know how that is Marion, mine was falling down, kids didn't even want to come inside the day I got the keys, but day by day, week by week you make it yur own..think sometimes you appreciate it more..bought lottery tickets for tonight's big draw, even if I am at home here if I won I'd make the people who bought my 2 acres on the water an offer they couldn't refuse either..lol. Then I'd be home again.

Hope Ross got to enjoy it for a few years..d&$m cancer...took many a good men hasn't it!

Did a rush into town, groceries and stained glass supplies..think tonight while I feel ambitious I'll cook a few meals and not have to cook all weekend, not that I would anyway. Lol

See that Suzanne dropped off the piece of green glass I forgot at the office..left a note..she must think I'm a roadrunner!

Betty - the bugs and heat definitely go away by August.... (Back me up Jean !) LOL!

The food and sites will be worth it... PLUS you'll get to see Lance & me !

Marion I'm sure that would be too much a coincidence but reminds me of where my Aunt & Uncle used to live... right on a lake, I remember the huge trees and windy road to their house. Can't remember that old address....but was in Havana.
They had a pool and view of the lake but Aunt warned us about the gators....

Morning everyone. I am back home with no new sewing machine. I saw my ortho Dr. then was driving across town to go see my son, and some lady on my right side, all of a sudden decided to take a left turn, and hit my Acadia, then shoved me into a big metal utility pole. Todd had to drive to San Antonio to bring me gome. The Acadia is totaled. I spent a few hours in the ER, got lots of X-ray's, and was told all is well, just swollen and bruised. My left knee is swollen, lower back and neck is sore, but OK! So I am sitting with icepacks and taking pain pills, so my day will be a very lazy one.
We need to call the insurance company and see what needs to be done next.

Oh my God LindaKay, thank the Lord you were not seriously injured or even worse..bet you are sore this morning, you will have to take it easy for a few days, drats and you who already has problems with knees. Was the lady in question charged?? Would imagine that is something you wouldn't know..yikes, tummy is just churning, you poor thing! Now it's dealing with insurance and getting new vehicle..the Acadia isn't much more than a year old.sending hugs

No, I don't know if she got a ticket ot not, as I was off in an ambulance, while my son took care of the Acadia. He was given a slip from the police, with a case number. I have to call Monday and get the report and go from there.

Sending you gentle hugs and hope you feel better soon. Cars one can replace but not a human being, you were very fortunate you did not get more serious injurries!
Not sure how it is with insurance in the USA, but over here in case you had whiplash, and the kind of injurries you received, you can get treatments (massages, physio and so on) and the person ( their insurance) has to pay for it because she was at fault.
And if you feel worse go back to the ER or to your family Doctor, often times they can`t detect injurries with x-rays but need MRI.
Keeping you in prayers and hope you recover fast.

Sending hugs and prayers for Crissy as well, a divorce is always stressfull but you feel so much better once everything is settled. You get a new lease on Life and have your freedom and sanity back. And God willing you will find in time a new partner that will love and cherrish you for who you are. Starting over is not easy but you can do it!

Crissy sent me a short note last night, was at Applebees having dinner. Divorce is not final but papers are in order and proceeding forward with "whats next".
Not my story to tell...but she is OK...and I know she would want you to know that.

Mary, there are several developments around the Havana area that are on lakes. For the life of me I can't think of the names this morning. Think the soggy weather has gotten to my brain cells. I actually live in Lake Yvette of US 90 near Midway.

woke up a little while ago. Belle already doing laps in the pool. BIG Flash of light and we were back inside. I wish I could send this rain where it is needed. We've had more than our share and then some. literally I feel it has rained every day for 4 weeks.

Marion - I'll have to ask Aunt Carolyn, Yvette sounds familiar... but I do remember how peaceful and pretty it was.

I can relate to your feeling about the rain Mary. It is really playing havoc with trying to get the shelves finished for the kitchen--not to mention the mud that keeps getting tracked inside the house. LOL then it will be no rain for a week and we will be complaining--can't win, can we.

Just thought of the other development on a lake: Tallavana...it is a really nice area but didn't appeal to us as much as where we are now.

Waving Judy - so glad you laid down the law. I get aggravated a lot lately and keep whispering to myself "ONE month" (and the girls will be gone to college). Barb, so glad to see you pop on to say hello! We are all so happy to hear you had the easy surgery and are back home! Now go back to bed, and be a girl. Hope you have a bell to ring when you need something? LOL!
We called the 800 number for insurance, but we have to wait for Momdy to know anything, as the adjuster has inspect the vehicle, to determine if it is totaled or not. It is a 2010, we have had it for just 2 years. When the police and ambulance showed up, they all asked if the airbags went off? They did not, and they were all surprised. My son just told me that when he went to the collision place where the truck was towed, that after inspection, the air bag sensors were sheared off, causing them to fail! That is not a good thing!
Anyway we have to wait till Monday to get a police report, adjust for inspection...

That is a scary event LK....kinda makes the airbags useless...seems that the initial first impact should have triggered them...so very glad you are okay inspite of the sensors failing.

Sound like you may have a cause of action against the car manufacaturer. So glad to hear you are OK - sort of. Ice and rest sounds like the best thing for now. And, as others have said, back to the doctor if things don't get better fast.

The brown bagging in the bedroom is done and it makes a huge difference. Finishing has been put off because of other things that needed to be done and havve seemed more important. I'm really ahppy with how it has turned out - have told Tony so over and over. I also had him set up my hammock which I hardly ever lie in when it's up on the patio outside the bedroom. There is shade from a mesquite tree and shade cloth and there is often a little breeze. After having the a/c on full all night the temp was only down to 80 this am.

I hardly slept last night due to an upset stomach. The heat didn't help either.

So glad Barb's surgery went well.

It has been a rough week here. No major traumas but the heat combined with the lack of water have taken their toll. I have a confession to make: I have had two falls this week. I can hear Dianne yelling at me already. The first time I slipped and fell backwards and bumped the back of my head on the metal rim of a tub. I could have been badly hurt but I wasn't. Thought I was being much more careful but yesterday when my friend Saul brought me home with my groceries from his store I tripped and fell headlong in my yard. Skinned both knees and scared both of us a lot as I couldn't get up right away - I was scraped and stunned. That's a lot of why I had Tony put the hammock up. My knee is about the same but the right shoulder still twinges. Not enough that I even feel I should mention it but enough to add to other difficulties. Compared to what many of you (us) are going through I feel kind of weird talking about these things. I do so because it's the best way for me to stop pretending that everything is fine and falling again. Things aren't awful they're just a bit difficult right now.

I do hope dave "got what he deserved" at the divorce hearing.

I have severeal books to read and music so while I still want to do more organizing in the bedroom I am set up for frequent breaks n one of the cooler spots here.

It's a hot one, think its best not walking the gardens as its sad to see what is happening to them without water .. Even the few sprays I cheat and give them aren't helping..ground is so dry. My planters aren't doing well so Bernice told me to bring them to the ponds and set them in..she is such a character, asked her why my geraniums weren't flowering, she said they were too happy, seems when the plant doesn't look healthy it tells itself it won't survive so best it flowers in hopes it will survive, when the plant is huge, lush leaves it says I'm a healthy one and doesn't fret and try to make flowers, soooo best I start mistreating them, giving them too much nitrogen.

Katie sorry to hear you are having so many falls, that's not a good thing..can you describe your yard, is the terrain fairly level or is it hilly, rock foundation? Thankfully Tony is around on a daily basis so I'd something happened you wouldn't lie there for days...if you yelled as loud as you could would there be neighbors close enough to hear you? I keep thinking of you as being high up a mountain side, set in an area all by yourself..not sure where I got that notion!

Yikes LindaKay, when Ann was in the accident she didn't hit too hard and her air bags went off..might be a defect, something to check into for sure..don't know that them going off could do more damage to the body than not?

Mary, that is a lot of rain.. What is the pink think sitting on the birdbath?

Kyle just pulled in with a jeep, they've just travelled 350 miles today, will have to go back in a few days to pick up hardtop for it..standard, Kyle has never driven standard, guess he'll learn...

He's so overcome by excitement that he's acting up..Greg went to turn off the radio and out came, "don't touch, it's mine and don't want anyone playing with it" Mel broke her foot/toes Thursday, she was in the back seat, Greg went to push the seat ahead, yikes almost bit his dad's head off...know it's quite something for him and i know that these big steps in his life reacts differently and he gets all wound up but you know me, won't put up with it...If he keeps it up I'll be pulling the tape off and showing him the road.. His parents are the best, no need for this..

I went on to remind him that we are sharers in this family, what would he have thought when I picked up my new car and told him to keep OUT, not let him drive it almost every night for practice, my loaning him my car for his test??? If eyes could kill..


So the radio needed a bit of securing, Greg/Mel/Kyle took quick ride home for tools so Greg can secure it, Greg said knowing how he gets that he will settle down once he fixes it, only a few screws...now if it were I, I'd be saying "sorry Kyle I'm not allowed to touch your jeep..". really is in good shape and if the car runs as good as it looks then they've made a good deal.

Nervous though, hadn't thought a whole lot about it or him buying a standard until Melanie mentioned being concerned about not only his having to watch what is all around him but dealing with co ordination of the clutch..he's cautious, has driven boats/snowmobiles for 10 years I'm sure he'll be fine

Just we have the jitters, worry about these young ones and particularly Kyle..

Company has been and gone, guess Mel and Greg will be doing some backseat driving tonight as Kyle wants to show all his friends his wheels..much calmer he was when he got back..

Didn't keep my mouth shut, he had the radio with his woofers or whatever going showing me how loud they were..I couldn't resist saying "Kyle how lucky you are to have a dad who goes out of his way to fix things for you, you got all upset for what??? Hooe you said thanks dad!"

I thought Kyle had gone with them in search of the jeep but he hadn't, had to work, didn't know his mom and dad went on their own and bought it for him..had to laugh, was double the cost of what Kyle had saved, mom and dad paid balance in hopes that will give them a little say in where and when he uses it.

As they were leaving I said wait a minute, need to take a photo..when I came back with the camera Greg said to Kyke, smile nice for the Internet and for grandma's camera club..lol
Those of you who were here at the gathering will get a chuckle..for those of you who could not, we were all taking photo's like crazy so Greg thought we were a camera group and not a gardening group.

WOW look at Kyle!!!! He must be over the moon. But I agree with you Betty. He needs to be reminded now and then of just where his blessings originate. Greg and Melanie certainly don't deserve any baloney from him... And I'm glad you stand by your principles....
I am sitting up at my computer now and enjoying it. The soreness is turning to just tenderness already as long as I don't overdo it. I was told to get up and walk as much as I was comfortable with as moving is the best thing for both recovery and my breathing. I'll be careful.....

Barb, standing by your guns isn't an easy thing..hurts us more than the young ones I'm sure!

Love seeing you post..you've done wonders Barb, been a long road but you are finally on the mend. I can almost feel through your posts that your breathing is much improved..am sure you want to continue those breathing exercises. Bet Norm is beside himself with relief.

Family get together was last night. For the most part it was wonderful. Paul made an excellent chicken parm for dinner with homemade marinara sauce, Jeanna bought the salad and added goodies and Italian bread and Carrie made the birthday cake. It was all very very good.
Shane & Shannon were here also, although Shane "had to go to work" soon as he finished eating. He got busted on that one and was at friends.

Didn't sleep well, woke up with a sore back so need to work the kinks out and will know whats ahead for the day. DH says "rest" and he may be right.

Betty, that jeep was the wrong choice for Kyle....BUT...maybe that will make him think it through...every move he makes and not just hit the gas and go.
With me having ADD...my "stick" was a great thing for me as it kept me focused....so maybe will do the same for Kyle.

Barb, hope you are resting well and "minding" Nurse Norm and following rules.
