Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Visit/Chat with friends

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was he visiting ??

The storm has been all around us, hail, torrential rain, twice you could feel it in the wind and by us it went..we are wanting it so bad and not getting it..forecast for next two weeks is predicted to be the same..

Watered everything I could but not doing a lot of good..my planters were so pretty, fighting just to keep them alive. Am sure you are dealing with same!

What a wasted weekend, really didn't acct mulish a thing except sit..did get the stained glass jewelry box done for SIL 's 65th..just needs the hinge and patina...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Norm and I arrived home safely about 6 PM/ Been busy with dinner and his sister but I will post in the morning....
Love, laughter, good food and quilting fabrics - what more could I ask for to relax me but a few more friends........
See you in the AM......

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello to All !

Oh Susan I want to see Brave !
Betty - the "plan" will not happen for at least 6 months... I have a lot of work to do. So funny about the birdies....
Thea ! YAY! Was worried about our friends and it's comforting to know that you all had a weekend of Hugs for each other... Great pics...
Yes I'm with LK... German food?
LK - Dylan is such a cutie pie....

Had 16 ppl at our house today from 2 months old to 84 years. 3 Generations Birthday. Weather cooperated... light showers in the am to cool things off then it cleared up so folks could get in the pool.

Boiled Crabs, Shrimp, potatoes, corn, mushrooms, onions, garlic. LOVE being an adopted Cajun.

OH MARY that sounds so so good!! I would love all of that! So glad the weather was cooperative. We had a what started as
a nice day, then a quick shower and the humidity shot up. SO, closed up and put the AC on.

Sounds like it was a very nice get together. And the kids all behaved? lol Bonus points for that. Wish I could get the same here. NOT happening.

Debbie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thea - first Betty, now you........ I Want To Meet Some Of My Buds from online!! :-)
I don't think I want to move to ON tho - not with the lack of rain...........

LK - Dylan is adorable......!! Is that a bump I see on his forehead? I imagine he bumps himself a bit, learning to roll over.......

Mary - wow - 3 generations' birthday? How great is that?!?!?!

Baton Rouge, LA

LOL Debbie Re: "Put the AC on".... because AC STAYS on in Louisiana 24/7/365. Hope you all had a good weekend regardless..
re: the kids behaving... well I'm learning to "choose my battles". The family is settling down. I just ignore what I don't like. Surprisingly Belle was especially well behaved....

I still have not mastered the eating of the crab....but loved the shrimp.
Yes Susan... FIL turned 84 on 7/1, BIL turned 51 on 7/15 and DNiece's son 3 on 7/13. So we "did" all bdays today...
It was really a fabulous day.
((HUGS))

Lyndonville, NY

Mary how is your MIL doing after her surgery?

That sounds like a really nice time! All age ranges to celebrate for sure.

Yes, AC is not mandatory here...but it has been lately for me. OMGosh it has been so humid.

Sweet dreams,
Debbie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Mary - what a fabulous birthday party!!
Glad to hear you're "choosing your battles!! It's the way to go - that way you can "give in" sometimes and not seem like an "ogre" all the time :-)

Well, planning on whether we can go camping this year - maybe go to Fernie BC - beautiful this time of year and 2 couples of our friends have gone there and recommend it. http://www.kootenayseh.com/fernie/park/kikomun.htm
We shall see.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, another hot one today, weather story doesn't change! Listening to Breakfast television and the sights of damage and flopoding in Toronto is something else, didn't need the destruction but wouldn't have minded some of their rain..bet you are wishing the same except for Mary and Jean who seems to be getting more than their share..

Crissy is on my mind this morning, hooe she can feel the hugs and know prayers being said that this nightmare will soon be over..

Also Suse, hope she's ok..

Mary, bet the birthday feast was enjoyed by all..nice when the weather cooperates.. (i'm hoping that your weather front will hold down temps for few more weeks).

you will be plum tired out seeing as you had the car group over a few weeks ago and now the birthday.

Debbie, how are you dealing with this humidity health wise..know when we travelled south and humidity high you had difficulties with your feet?

Humidity 81%, tomorrow they say that it will be the hottest day of the year!

Susan, here is hoping you can get the next long weekend in camping.

Off to get coffee and breakfast.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Nice and cool this morning, as we had showers from 7 to midnight, and no power from 8 to midnight. Guess a transformer blew somewhere? It is 73 degree's with 88% humidity.

Susan, I guess it could be a bump, he is getting so active. Betty, the picture was taken at Andy's place in San Antonio, I stole it from facebook! He will be 4 months old on the 18th.

Mary, sounds like you had a great time with the party!

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning everyone, Happy Monday

Betty the humidity is doing me in. So high already this morning got up and put the AC on right away. I am NEVER like this in the morning, prefer
my fresh air and breeze.

Not sure of my plans today. I have spent the weekend cleaning my part of the bedroom and trying to organize. Not so sure what to do with it as I am not a
very good organizer on my own stuff. Others I can do fine...but mine, not so much! lol I will have to pretend I am doing it for Betty. lol

I need to get morning meds and some juice into me....so will pop back later.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, Facebook is a wonderful way to stay in touch with family/friends isn't it..
You got my rain..oh no.....

Debbie, the humidity being so high felt like I had watered the grass for hours..even driving with cold/hot I had to have my wippers on.

You can do it girl, mentally think how pretty you can make your room (NOT that it isn't pretty now) but you need an incentive. As I'm making plans for Elvis festivial (FREE entertainment for ALL the Elvis' s on the Saturday) I think how you would so enjoy it....sure the girls wouldn't come and drive you?

Think you need a vacation lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought I'd save my lunch hour for lunch, drove over to the Co-operators Insurance and bought travel insurance (worldwide) for the entire year...better than me applying everytime I want to go away, besides if I decide to travel at last minute and their office is closed I'd have to go without insurance..not a good thing..glad that's behind me.

What are you all doing to keep yourselves out of mischief..know Debbie is organizing her room unless something more fun came up since she lasted posted.

Lyndonville, NY

Utt Ooohhhh...no, I forgot. I had breakfast, and took a walk around the yard to look at my blooms. And There was this bird sitting on a shiny object and...

I forgot.

Barb, I've signedup because I get a daily message e-mailed to me everyday..I usually watch his shows on Sunday but was out and only got a bit of it so I just key in Joel Olsteen Ministries..and listed is usually 2 or 3 of the podcasts to listen to..find his sermon's keep me on the straight and narrow, if that's possible!

Noticed I'm getting a bit negative at times, it's a good reminder that everything we say should be like a little silver box with a bow on top. Will bring my little box with silver bow on top upstairs as a reminder...the lady that had a sermon on it was the greatest and I've always kept her sermon to heart..

Judy, last 2 years they only had 1 day of rain on each trip..will get the blog for you..I always enjoy reading it as well.
Beautiful view from the cottage deck..did Steve get it rented out most of the season? Know he was busy at it when you were here.. Ahhh Joyce makes a lovely grandmother, she must be thrilled.

You are doing well with your typing on the pad, isn't it convenient??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe Judy, Joyce looks so happy holding her Granddaughter. Irene is so precious! When was she born?
Sorry to hear about the garden and grass at the cabin! This darn heat is really killing a lot of gardens all over the place!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, love watching him on Friday nights on the Gaither Family...just going to check, know they lost one of their spiritual comedians a few months ago, almost thought it might be Mark but don't see him listed as deceased.

Thanks for sharing, just keyed in a few more of his ramblings..great laugh!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I know every once in a while you post his message here Betty. I print them out and they hang on the wall in fron of me. I enjoyed listening to him....Might just sign up too.....
I too, enjoy the Gaither broadcasts. Gives me such a feeling of peace.....

Oh Judy, Joyce looks soooo happy. She must be over the moon.

Good afternoon - Another strangge day. Woke up about 5:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. I'd had about eight hours of sleep so I should have been OK but instead it was a DAy of Pain. Tony was impressed with all the work I had done clearing the shelves in the bedroom and cleaning up and was happy to spend the morning applying the sealer to the wall. I love having help. And I love that we notice and compliment each other's work.

While he worked I played on the puter; after he left I laid down and fell asleep - dead to the world for about four hours. Not much pain now as I cook the dogs' dinner and work on my quinoa chocolate cake recipe.

In a day or two I may write to the knee surgeon again and give him the specifics of how I seem to have been dropped from the surgery schedule. I don't want to appear to be harrassing him.

Betty, thanks for the link to Joel Osteen. He summed up why I felt I had to stop going to AA meetings. Also why I push myself to go to town at least once a week and interact with people I like and who like me.

It cooled off a bit last night and the a/c got the temp down to 77 so it was there for Tony to work this morning. It's up to 86 again this afternoon and I woke up soaked in sweat. Survival weather. The nap really helped.

Did a lot of laundry yesterday. It's a little painful to hang it up with my bad shoulder. So glad I have Tony to paint the sealer on the wall.

Did I say I love having help? My energy is so low between the heat and the pain.

I am really glad to have a dependable computer again. Working on the day at a time thing.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening,

Was just about ready to close up shop when the telephone rang,it was Jeff, could I pick them up in Port Severn, mother instincts makes my heart stop, what could of happened, just dropped them off Saturday morning in Port Severn..no problems, just decided with the winds to bypass kayaking on Lake Simcoe..think after the scare on Lake Ontario a few weeks ago Julie might have been a little apprehensive..so home to pick up his truck and to Port Severn I drive, just in time for din/din at the new Patio on the Bay, food the best..this restaurant was kittie corner to my home on the Bay..reminded me of good times, Lordy i miss my home!

don't know if I'd have enough enough energy to load and unload kayaks, although Jeff and Julie seem to think its no big deal it's just not for me.

They've just left, Julie's brother owns a resort just on the upper lock after passing through Lake Simcoe, so what would have taken them almost 2 days of kayaking they will drive the 1 1/2 hrs and rest their behinds..they will spend the next 4 days kayaking then will boat the next week or part of..Jeff's like his mom, can be heading in one direction and in a split second go in an entirely different direction without a blink of the eye..lol glad he has something of his mother's DNA.

Wow, there went the evening. Lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

If you look between the island on the far right and the middle island you will see the view I had from what once was my home for 21 years!

2nd photo was the eatery..once an old fallen down marina "bush's"

Time to unload

Judy you mentioned the blog of Jeff's travels/Holidays..link is:

http://2012summertrip.blogspot.ca/2012/07/two-day-countdown.html

Katie I don't think you would be putting any pressure on the doctor sending him a letter stating your case, after all you should never have been lost through the cracks of the system..I think you are Tony's earthly angel as he is yours..match made in heaven.

In this heat maybe you should leave the laundry for cooler days..after all some of the time you can go naked right?? Lol

Glad you enjoyed the link for Joel, he has such a way about him and talk about eye candy..one day I want to go to one of his Sunday services in Houston..a few years ago he was in Toronto and had I not found out so late I would have lived to take mom who also enjoys his Sunday morning service.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow - another coincidence........... the lady at work - Linda MacKenzie............ she's divorced from her ex Mr. MacKenzie, but didn't change her name now she's with another fella....... y'know my DH is Bob, well, her partner is Robert........... omg......... can we have any more coincidences? So, Susan Joan MacKenzie (that's me) and Linda Joan MacKenzie, both Exec Ass'ts, working at same co, 10 ft away from each other, her birthday is same as my dad's (July 22nd), both lived in Winnipeg, both brunettes rofl

Betty - glad that Jeff is taking accidents on the waterways seriously, and now you can relax with him safe on terra firma!!

Katie - so glad you have Tony to help you. Sorry to hear you're still having so much pain. I really don't think your Dr would be thinking you're harassing him if you tell him you're "dropped off the surgery list". He needs to know......

Judy - thanks for posting - awwwwww that pic of Grandmama and little Irene is so precious! How old is she now?

Bob & I are going tenting this weekend, at our usual spot, and so looking forward to it! It will be our first chance to camp this year (now we're both working and he gets weekends off!!) Same place, Pincher Creek / Sleepy Hollow Campground, as we usually camp at. Hope there's no hail this year lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

NOW my phlox and beebalm start to bloom..only 1/4 have blooms, so late this year, wonder if some may not bloom..those that have are about 2 weeks too late..lol

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - they are beautiful! Hopefully you'll still get lots of blooms this year - there's so much of summer left to enjoy them!
btw - I heard about a lightening strike in Ontario - 17 people injured........... was it near you?

Victoria Harbour, ON

It was at the ribfest in Whitby, about 100 miles from here..

Yes still lot to enjoy if the heat doesn't get at them even more than it already has

On our way from Port Severn tonight there had to be 8 drops of rain fall..wind came up,dark sky but passed us by.

I would like to set the alarm for midnight..northern lights are in view..spectacular..likely I would get up, turn off the alarm and crawl back into bed. Lol. So will not do.

How did work go today Susan?

Lyndonville, NY

Beautiful pictures Betty. Glad the kids are OK and were smart to head in the other direction.

I haven't had a good day, run in with the doctor and that left me upset.

Been keeping occupied since...not working.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahh Debbie, Dr. hunk, usually you make out quite well with him, bet he was telling you to be watchful and you didnt want to hear it?? Sending hugs..

Baton Rouge, LA

Awe Debbie ! ((HUGS)) I know if it pertains to medical issues you certainly know what is what. So that DR must need to step up or be replaced. MIL's surgery and results went terrific. Only complication is a bit more bleeding she had but said that has cleared up and being looked into. I sure love her... she is a special lady and very strong. Debbie your althea looks so much more healthier than mine... I'm constantly spraying mine.... it's a double but I prefer the singles like yours. I need to get the "organize" bug.... seems like once I catch it... I can accomplish so much but so many drawers I need to clean out...
Susan... that looks like an awesome camping trip ! So relaxing will there be snow on the mountains this time of year? What a HUGE coincidence ! Maybe ya'll were meant to be friends.... Did ya'll get a chance to have lunch together?
Betty - Yes we have had an overabundance of rain here... Now gardening... I have a total new respect for rain but sure wish I could send it to you and others who need it...No chance of you coming up to see my yard, huh? I'll probably be meeting you for dinner?

LK - Thank you for your charity quilts I know they are loved. Thought of you and Barb. DSD1 has commissioned a lady up north of here to make a quilt out of all her High School T Shirts many of which she designed. I think the lady is charging $272 ?
Judy - that sunset is gorgeous... are you staying at the camp a while to get things done?
Oh Katie - seems to me like you do get a lot done. You are probably not giving yourself enough credit for all you do and in such weather conditions...

((HUGS)) to all...

Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, this wasn't Dr. Hunk...this was my primary care who saw me in the hospital after the surgery debacle. He is the one that follows me for swelling, blood pressure and all that fun stuff.

Basically told "the damage is what it is, you will have to deal with it....yes you are very swollen but it is hot and everyone has edema in this weather." and that was just the mild part of it.....it wasn't pretty especially when I said a few things about not asking for any of this and it was someones error i had to live with.

Mary, I have doubles and singles, and on one tree....the white ones on one side have the deep pink middle, and on the other side are all white. It is wierd, same tree!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Mary - we won't have snow where we will be - not in the mountains. Of course some mountains never lose their snow entirely - that's why there are glaciers in Glacier Nat Park, Montana. We won't be going there this year - only 2 days camping won't allow much tripping out.......... It hails sometimes in the summer and it did last year.
Pincher Creek is the windiest place in all of Alberta.... but we'll be in a "hollow" hence the campground's name.
We'll likely go for lunch next week - it's a particularly busy time of year for everyone that's not on vacation right now.
I met someone in the lunch room and when she went to sit by herself at a table next to mine, I said "are you waiting for someone, or would you like to join me at my table?!" and she did - 2 others she knew came too, and she said "she won't bite" about me ..... lol I said "she doesn't know me well enough to know for sure lol"

Debbie - that's a terrible attitude for the Dr to take out on you!!!!

Betty - work went well, thank you for asking - Darla's trying to give me lots of work to do and get others used to giving me work while she's on vacation next week.

I'm so annoyed I could spit - I periodically check my personal email cuz that's how I communicate with the agency that's sent me and I forward all my voice mail to email....... saw a voice mail from a # I wasn't sure of, so I googled it and saw it was another agency. Called her and she asked if I was working. I told her it could be 4 months or could end in one week. She said "then you won't be interested in a short term assignment". When I got home I found out that was a 1 YEAR Mat Leave........ *hiss spit*....... I know, someone will say "bird in the hand, worth 1 year in the bush" but really - guaranteed 1 year vs assignment could end any time (or become perm - I have no idea!!) - but the agency didn't tell me it was a 1 year mat leave........ and I could start right away...... siiiiiiiiigh

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning all..even though there is a light breeze there is no air outside, not that it is stifling just no air. Forecast is 40% rain but I imagine it will pass us by.. Same ole same ole..

Few things to do before venturing out for the day so will gab when I get to the office.

Just wanted to say 'morning'!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning! Susan, sorry to hear you missed the one year job! Praying what you have will turn into a long term job! Enjoy your week end camping trip, sounds like fun!

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

I got a note from Dianne, she is home safe...but not feeling well at all. Doesn't know if she picked up a bug or it is just heat and exhaustion.

SO, she is resting...hopefully behaving (right) and will be back soon as she can!

Sending her lots of hugs,

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for letting us know Debbie, let her know were sending lots of thoughts and prayers her way!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Finally, Paul is coming in this morning, had a few things to do now I'm free for the rest of the day so now it's chat time..

I'm a great country/western music fan, was sorry to hear about KittyWells passing yesterday..I had a grin, at the Ryman Auditorium last year Suzanne, I and Linda got up and sang 'it wasn't God who made honky tonk angels' and the tour guide said that it had been banned when first out and never sung inside it's doors lol (just a memory)

Debbie, no wonder you were fit to be tied after your doctor's appointment..he must have been having a bad day but still doesn't warrant not having any empathy for how you are dealing with pain caused by someone's error.

Ouch Susan, 1 year's work, it would have been wonderful for you..drats Excited that you will get to go camping even though it won't be for a long period, even a few days will be a stress believer.

LindaKay, bet you are sewing today!!!

Debbie, thanks for letting us know about Dianne, here's hoping she's on the mend.

Barb, bet you are getting a little nervous and excited all in one for Thursday to arrive and have it all behind you..in the photo's that were posted by Thea you look sooo healthy, just think how you will look after the surgery, you'll be doing the happy dance for sure.
