You want eye candy? I got eye candy.....but no drooling on him, he is my kid!
Big surprise, Justin is home and stopped in. Although I didn't give birth to him, he is my kid 100%, just love him to pieces!
I didn't get a picture, but these are two recent ones of him...
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Visit/Chat with friends
Debbie he is a hunk indeed..what a surprise..sure did make your day!
Where will he reside?
He is staying at his Dads house. Only home for four days to help out with some family issues, then back to Georgia. He is stationed there now, but
gets four day pass once a month. He used this one to come up here. He drove, so that took a full day of his time.
I'm sure one of the first places he headed for was 'Debbie mom'! Some kids are just as your own aren't they. Will he get to see the family?
Yes, staying with his Dad, his sister and nephews live nearby. If he doesn't see them...he will call them most likely.
He wanted to tell me about his promotion too, but sure didn't like the going back to afghanastan part!
Meant your kids Debbie...
Know how worried you were when he left last time..with the promotion would he be put in dangers way more than before?
Went to the mall for lunch, store had beautiful cushions that match the back bedroom to a 't'..regular $24.98 had to matching ones, each $5.00 so I couldn't possibly pass them up, only fun thing I did today lol
Another 8 minutes, been a long day..guess who will be in bed early!!!
He had already visited with Shane down at work. Andy doesn't take kindly to him visiting Carrie because he used to have a major crush on her, but if they are all here he is OK with it.
Betty, are you watching the news, the Detroit Canada tunnel is closed due to a bomb threat. Making it really bad for traffic back up!
Omg LindaKay, will turn on the news..that would create a traffic nightmare!
Debbie, glad he got to see Shane, maybe a call to the girls would suffice..can't blame Andy because Justin is a looker..is he same age as the girls or Shane's age.
hot today, let windows open and a nice breeze is coming through.
Must go downstairs and see if I can find Suzanne's lamp project, personally I think she has a box at home because I can't remember seeing her white, red or green or her solder..here is hoping she finds it tonight.
toes are a pretty blue black
Justin is Carries age, 26. Shane and Shannon are 19 & 21....Jeanna, Joe & Andy are 28.
Does Justin plan on making the army his life long career?
Hmmm, last I posted was going to look for Suzanne's pattern and glass. Ooops must have fallen asleep
I am not sure what his plans are. He said he is supposed to get out come February, but he just passed the test making him Staff Sargent. AND...he has to go overseas to Afghan. for another 9 month tour....so will probably be in another 2 years is my guess.
As much as I dislike it...it keeps his head on straight and out of trouble, as he had a very troubled childhood and teenage years. I think, more than anything, he wants a family and settle down like most of his friends have had. His sister has two little boys that he just adores.
re: lunch partners at work - The ones I see in the lunchroom are usually from HR across the hall, and they look like they're set in their lunch buddies. Most of the ones I know from my side of the building either have lunch at their desk, or go out for lunch - I'm sure not going to invite myself along. As for those having lunch at their desk, they're likely working.
I will take your suggestion however - maybe the "other" MacKenzie would go for lunch now that her mouth is better (had root canal, and emergency dental surgery - just barely able to eat stuff).
NOW - mentioning that "other' MacKenzie - here's a funny for ya! 1. She & I spell our last name the same (NOT McKenzie - don't forget, we need the "a" lol) 2. She lived in Winnipeg same time as I, 3. Is a MacKenzie by marriage. 4. Works about 10 ft from me and is also an EA (Executive Assistant) 5. born in the same decade. Here's the "kicker" - 6. her middle name is Joan, same as mine!! Talk about coincidences!!! She & I are both flabbergasted by this!! Dare I say we're both brunettes? LOL
found a plastic bin and there layer upon layer is the pattern, plastic worksheet, roses glued on glas ready to cut,2 missing bags of the white panels..shissss load off my mind seeing that bin I'll tell you..hate to be the keeper of everyones treasures..lol
Debbie it seems that it's done him well joining the army, a sense of belonging
Be back in a sec
Kyle here
Glad you found it Betty!
Debbie - glad he's back, and now looking to have a family, eh?
Justin sure IS a hunk.......
Didn't need to go to Dairy Queen in Midland but what to heck, know Kyle needs the driving practice! Good excuse right?
Mary, meant to ask, haven't heard you mention the witch, has she found someone new put pressure on? You best hope your son doesn't break up with the little miss seeing as you are starting to care deeply for she and her family!!
B.J. You back from your trip? Bet you are exhausted..
Susan, that is quite the coincidence, bet as you speak more with her more coincidences will arise. Almost another week in, no news as to how much longer they may need you?
Well, think I'm going to head to bed...glad I'm working from home tomorrow, could sleep in but I know the likelihood of that.
Hello to All !
Susan that is SUCH a coincidence ! Maybe ya'll will get a chance to "do" lunch together..
Debbie I remember you mentioning the young man and all he went through. You've been there for him all these years...
Betty funny you should ask... both bosses were quite snippy this week for the first time. But I find that the more I come back to them forcefully the more they back down. I went right in her office today and gave her bad news and took fault for something I did. She took it well.
I think if DS ever broke up with his GF... I'd ditch DS and keep the GF
ROFLOL....
HUGS
Mary
PS Betty so sorry about your toes! You better be careful... need those tootsies for walking down the French Quarter !
Betty - RIGHT! After all, you and Kyle are now "best buds" so it's all good, right?!?! lol
I didn't need the Root Beer float I just had either.......... lol
No more news on how much longer I'll be needed. Boss was away yest afternoon, and all today. She called to see if I had work to do and I do. If I hadn't, she would have said "go home for the day, until I'm back tomorrow" but.... I stayed of course lol By 3:00 I was given a new task by Jessica - she's on Mat leave soon (due date is Sept 3 - Labour Day lol) and has some work that "this desk" has been doing. Apparently it hasn't been done for awhile, so I'm to play "catch up". Jessica is my boss, Darla's, "next in command" so it's another thing they're not happy with my predecessor for.......... I'm just playing things day by day, and "by ear".
Apparently my predecessor (Karen)'s only been with the company for 10 months, and Her predecessor was there "only a short time". Dunno what's up with that, but Karen has worked with UFA from end of August 2011 to end of June 2012 ....... weird, eh? Wonder what "only a short time" for Sandy was..........
Darla had said that "not everyone thinks I'm nice" when I told her about a compliment someone in HR paid her, to me. I passed on the compliment cuz I figure everyone wants to hear that others in the company like, respect and value them......
What the HR lady said was "she likes to show a tough exterior, but she's really quite nice" What I told Darla was "She knows you're tough, but also very nice" That's when Darla said "not everyone thinks I'm nice" I told her I like working with the team, and I like working with her.
OH Betty (thank you Mary, for reminding me!!) Your poor toesies!! Did you check to see if you sprained them for sure? And cut too........ ouch!! Lots of packs of frozen peas will help! Just make sure you put gloves on your hands when you handle the frozen packs lol Have you seen a Dr about them?
Katie - hope your headache has gone........ and that we helped cheer you up from yor grumpy ole self lol
I love Daturas........ even the multi-skirted metals. I prefer the Inoxia (white) ones though - bigger and therefore more "showy". Would LOVE to see a pic of your Flame bush............
Supposed to have Thundershowers tonight - likely due to the high heat and humidity we've been having..... It's cooled down a bit, and only 23c now. It did get to 32c today, and 34c yesterday..........
Just thought I'd drop in and tell you all I'm back home.
Got home late last night... and been sort of sick all day... feels like a stomach virus.
Nothing new... I have digestive issues anyway... but I also don't "go" regular when I'm on trips... so I guess it's just all catching up with me.
MIL arrives in 2 days... best get some sleep so I can clean some tomorrow.
Hi - It's late and I'm about to go to bed and hope to get to sleep. If not, there's always tomorrow. Tony and I did errands today and there is a huge pot of chicken and rice that just finished cooking. Enough for several days I hope.
Heard from my GP doctor. Apparently one of the orthopedic surgeons left abruptly and there is a scramble to take care of his patients. It wasn't my doctor but it seems to have created a mess. I will stay in touch with the department and do my best to roll with the punches. Easier to do as long as I have lots of vicodin..
crissy says hi to everybody. She's busy at work and is being hassled by soon-to-be-ex dave. She has moved out of their house and is crashin with friends. Court date is July 20. I think we should all make little voodoo dolls of dave with the hope that he gets what he deserves. I know how hard crissy tried to make a difficult marriage work and I can't help but hoping he will get hit by a big bus while on his way to the courthouse. She sent me a Dmail cause I had a book sent to her
night all, katie
My friend Saul gave me a big bunch of plastic boxes and I've got almost all the material off the bedroom shelves. Even with a/c the temp in the bedroom is in the mid-80's. I am taking my time but getting it done.

morning all, moving slow this morning and just enjoying the early morning!
Watering of the baskets done, cheated and watered a few of the grass areas that are browning and now looking forward to puddling in the yard, nothing much planned for the weekend, my kind of weekend.
Jeff and Julie will be up and leaving for their kayak trip in the morning, have an early appt for Sailor to be groomed, now doing this monthly, should be me getting a grooming, in need of one. Lol. Have perm appt for next Saturday, my turn.other than that I might try to help Suzanne with the stained glass lamp that is nowhere being near finished, just started, big under taking, not sure it's one I want to do..would though like to undertake another Christmas project, see the months flying by, you know what that means, if we don't start now we will be playing beat the clock..did learn my lesson last year, won't do that again..
Oops phone ringing,
Mary, sometimes when you treat people as they treat you, without respect it shocks them, they see themselves and there is no comeback..are you still researching a different avenue re job or have you given it up?? How is your friend who started, is she finding it difficult?
Seems Susan, they don't keep staff for any length of time, let's hope you at least get to stay on while they are short staffed with regards to maternity leave.
B.J. your body is probably telling you you need rest, with travelling here and then off again neither Don you haven't had much time to recoup..and now MIL visit, hope she is the kind of visitor that is light and easy..
Vicodin Katie is very addictive is it not?? Hope they get the medical issue straightened out..soup, glad you waited till late before cooking, in this heat it should be cold cuts and salads.
Thanks for the update re Crissy, must be so difficult for her..best she be with friends than being in the house with him and in such a volatile situation...poor Crissy!!
As for toes, am sure just a good banging, brilliant colors this morning..sailor is laying n the pathway to the kitchen but your truly is taking the long way around.
Love the sounds of the day, can hear the water feature sounds, birdies chirping, beside me work being done on the sheds, in front, lawnmower, kids chatting and laughing as the play on the street, cars going by, all busy with something important to do, just ancient morning..
Betty my daylilies are real bad this yr. I am afraid after no good rain for a yr and a half that I will lose over half of my 350 or so. Some of my hostas are also dying.
Joe not married yet. Maybe in Oct. Hugs to all BEV
I am up and feeling OK. Slept fairly well. I just showed Tony a map of the drought areas in the US. We also checked for hurricanes; there are two small ones which don't look like they will come here.
Yes, Betty, the vicodin can be addicting. I am careful about how much I take and will lie down and do nothing but watch a video if I'm in pain and not due for another pill. I talk a lot with my doctor about when and how I use it. My "helpful" alchoholic maind occasionally suggests that a margarita would inmprove the pain-killing effect. I say, "Thank you for sharing."
Tony finished sealing the western wall. One more task DONE!!
I am going to try to finish clearing the bedroom shelves. It is so hot and humid that we are pretty much in survival mode. Tony waters the plants and does light work. Being here during this weather really helps me bond with my Mexican friends. Most Americans go north for the summer.
I am still coughinb a little and my right shoulder is a little sore. I am taking it easy. Much as I would like to push to get the brown bagging done I will regret it if I do.
Jenny is my only long-haired dog. I have combed and combed her. Huge amounts of fur coming out. She doesn't like it much but is pretty good.
Clearing the shelves has led to a ton of laundry which is piled in a cart under the flame tree. I'll get to it some day.
Have a great day everyone and thank you for being here.
hugs, katie
Congratulations to Joe and his new bride..wonderful news..do they live nearby Bev?
You still have a son home with you though, must be a help to you and makes it that you are less lonely.
Oh my, not good news about the gardens, that would be so heartbreaking! I would think you are on well water?? With no rain you would not want to deplete what reserve you have. Hard to believe all the weather concerns, some no rain, sme too much rain, others extreme heat, some colder than norm temps..horrible..
Was talking to a few ladies who have lovely phlox and all were saying no phlox this year,I've a few but nothing in comparison to what I normally have.
Just washed the floors, sitting while they dry, soo trying not to put my head down as I know I'll doze all afternoon or until telephone rings lol
Did foil the white glass for 2 panels for Suzanne...I'm afraid unless she comes to work n it for a few days it will not get done.
So what are you all up to??
Katie, brave woman to hear 'margueritas' and just pass the thought to another corner of the mind...
Your way of life sounds soooo easy going, no stress just enjoying each day as it comes.
Why is it when we clean we make so much more work for ourselves. Keep the brown bagging for another day..
Jenny will feel much cooler with her coat done..With having the groomer do Sailor this year I'm finding she is not knawing at her backside..for that I am thankful!
Helloooooooooo everyone!!!!
They finally let me out of the sewing room!!! lol Been so busy with making the wedding gift for my dear niece who is getting married tomorrow.
I appliqued them 12 small wall hanging (1 for each month) and my DD brought them with her on her 2 month trip to Germany (my family), Bosnia and Croatia (her BF's family). Feels weird not having her at home and I miss her already (she left tuesday) but we stay in touch through text msg and phonecalls.
I am still having PC (laptop) problems and my Sweety can`t fix it as it is a problem with the laptop itself and repair just cost more then it is worth...lol...so I make do until it finally dies!!! Will try to post some pics next week.
Sitting here on pins and needles until my company for the weekend arrives!! Two of my very dear friends will come to visit, was a spur of the moment decision and I am soooooooooo happy to see them again. Just wish the weather was a bit cooler so we could actually sit outside and enjoy the garden and flowers, but it is close to 100F with humidex so I think we will stay inside during the day.
Wish you could all come for a visit...what a hug fest that would be!!!
Wishing you all a great weekend and just know that eventhough I don`t post often I always keep you in my heart and prayer!!!
Love and tonssssssssss of hugs
Thea
Afternoon all, she's a hot one, not going to complain though!
Busy in town, got what I needed to do done then home I came. Was going to do groceries at the big Zhers but not worth the savings..our little town grocery store has all I need. Ended up buying fruit/veggies in the little farmers market..nice to be home.
forgot to mention, right next door to the country store that I buy a lot at which is on the main street in Midland had set up a memorial outside their doors..the other day the husband of an employee came to pick up his wife from work, saw 2 men pushing her around, he stepped in to stop them, sad to say the beat him badly, died of injuries..he is native Indian, body now on Christian Island where services will be tomorrow..Judy, fire has been going since news of his death., anyway, they had memorial book to mark your name, donation box so dropped in.
Thought I might go downstairs and do another panel of the stained glass but decided a good place to be is on my couch, tomorrow is a new day. Called the groomers, although my original appt was 9 am he said I could bring her at 7am, suits me better.
Thea, so glad to see you post, am anxious to see photo's of your niece's gift, bet it is something she shall always cherish, and, you always come up with such brilliant ideas.
Computers are a wonder but frustrating when you are unable to use them.
How much fun is that, friends for the weekend..enjoy them!
Maybe this fall I'll visit my cousin, he's always wanting me to do so and will drop in.
I've been reading every day but have had this dreadful feeling of doom sitting over my head. I thought it was because I was seeing the lawyer this morning to finalize all the govt and legal paperwork that had to be done to finalize Warren's death. Nope.... just got off the phone with Warren's nephew. Our (Warren's) SIL has been having radiation for lung cancer. Sound familiar? She had already lost both her DH and eldest DS to lung cancer. Radiation was going great, they did an update MRI and all treatment has been stopped. In less than 2 weeks the cancer has spread to multiple spots in her brain, have given her a very short time line to live. Pete, Warren's DN was coming for a visit on Thurs. anyway so he will be able to give me more details then. He and his mom go to the Oncologist on Wed., Pete wanted to know what questions he should be asking. I am just feeling sick to my stomache, we were all so optimistic about the lung cancer - especially since her radiation treatments were going so well.
So here I am bearer of bad news again.... I need some smiles in my life. Having Debbie and Paul here sure helped me smile. Seeing Paul drive my Tang made me grin from ear to ear - ooops that was Paul. You should have seen his smile. It was so nice to have such a wonderful visit - Debbie knows she can come back anytime she wants. I'll ne waiting here with a hug.
Think of you all every day. I was so sorry to miss Betty's gathering. My mouth would have played h*!! with me though. Stitches are out, not healing as well as Doc wanted but he also wasn't surprised. I see him on Tues and if it looks OK he will finish up thee work. If not it will be put off for another 7 - 10 days.
Hope everyone is handling the heat. My goodness we are just not used to this prolonged heat like a lot of you are. Betty are you in the 30*s every day like we are here?
Mary I am so glad you got to go to lunch with your DS's DGF and her mother. Did your son attend or was it an all ladies outing?
Need to get off of here, Quill wants out. Will try to BBL
Dianne
So great opening the thread today and seeing some friends who haven't posted for a bit, know you were missed!
That news must have been overwhelming to hear, each time cancer is mentioned it brings back the worse of memories doesn't it. Know you will be able to offer your knowledge and experience with health system to dear nephew..sending armwraps...
Fully understood your not being able to make, perhaps another time when you are up to giving that TANG a ride.
Yes, terrible coming into town tonight and seeing all the lawns burnt, gardens fading..so much work then this..weather Chanel was saing that Toronto region usually gets. 77.3 m of water in July , we are almost half through July and we've only had 2.8 m of rain..not good. Saw that Hamilton got heavy rain and hail this afternoon..here, I think they say 70% rain Sunday..what happens lately is we do have rain but it's for about 10 minutes only...doesn't help at all! Still better than nothing though.
You are lucky Dianne, am sure you've a watering system set up in the lake..know we did and never had to worry about what was being used.
Calling for a scorcher tomorrow, should close the place up and put the air on.
Quiet here tonight..almost feel lonesome!
I am here. Paul had his knee MRI tonight so just got home about 7:20 and we are just now having dinner. Cheated and ordered a sandwich from the deli, he went to pick it up.
Dianne, remember sunscreen while driving that TANG around! And yes, Paul is still smiling ear to ear when mentioned, and I do believe he has that picture on his work computer screensaver of the shots I took of him in "your baby". It was such a peaceful and relaxing time...truly enjoyed it. Paul even said "easy enough to you to get to driving alone if you want." lol He is shipping me out!
I am so sorry about your SIL and the cancer spreading. That is how it went with mom. Had all clear scans and two weeks later fell...and found it in her brain with lesions. So so scary. I am sorry you are having to deal with this also.
Be back in a bit...my sammich just arrived! lol
Dianne, I know how saddened you must be. So sorry for the family...please know you are often in my thoughts. Perhaps this will bring you a chuckle.

Awwww Jean, adorable, know it put a smile on my face!
Joyce how disappointing, is the pond tour this weekend? Only consolation is knowing everyone is in the same position unless they are able to water..hope you don't lose your pretties!
Debbie, I can just see Paul aglow..he certainly had a week's holiday didn't he! How long a drive to Dianne's from where you are? How long before Paul get the results..
BJ, feeling better today?
Sailor was outside the past hour playing with their 3 year old grandaughter, Sonya loves to give her treats as does sailor enjoy getting them..was coming inside so had to tell her she must go home..worry about pond..before she left I'm sure she broke off about a dozen or so daisies. Lol
Dianne, so sorry to hear you are having more bad news. What else can I say?
We are getting dark clouds, thunder and wind. Rain would be very welcome.
I've been emailing Kaiser and waiting for some word. Nothing so far. It's stressful but mostly that makes me tired and low energy so I'm hanging in.
Fed the dogs and they are happy. Guess that's my work for the day.
hugs, katie
Here's hoping you get rain Katie! I think you take on an awful lot for someone who isn't feeling the best.
Not tired but rather than lay on the chesterfield then wake to come to bed i thought I'd get comfy in bed and watch a movie, must be something on.
Was wondering why I've been feeling lonely and down a little, just came to me Roger's birthday on the 18th,odd how even subconsciously you think about it!
That means Debbie, you have a birthday coming up as well!!
Nope, it was cancelled.
Dianne, so sorry to hear about your family and all the cancer. Sending lots of prayers!
Hope your outh heals quickly!
