SWEET INTERRUPTIONS # 244

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have not heard any updates on her.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

There must have been a day or two that I didn't read - not like me to miss something like that. I sure hope she is okay and healing well.....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm going camping with my DH this weekend!! We went to the same campground the past 2 years, and really love it!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

May the weather co-operates Susan. Are you going by yourselves or with some friends?

Barb, Thunder mentioned that in another building.

The heat got to me!! Was outside for half an hour and that zapped all energy! All I did was sleep it off after that.
Oh well, I rested enough to catch more zzzzzs :D

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy that's the beach view from the restaurant..oooh wonder if the men I picked up are still there..could you check?

Tmorrow will be the hottest day of the summer to date, oh happy days!

Went and picked up my kayakers tonight, must have had a good 8 drops of rain on our way home!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Just Bob & I. Called our friends, and they're going camping at Waterton Campground. Don't like that - not good for tents, only RVs. Looks like a huge parking lot, and very expensive. We'd gone to a campsite outside of the park, but most of the "trees" there are more like scrub. Nope, went camping there before, but won't anymore. Thought about Fernie BC, but can't find what I need to know about campsites online, and won't go somewhere that's a long way away without knowing what it's like beforehand. Better safe than sorry, I figure, especially when we're facing the elements more, with a tent.

Betty - a whole 8 drops? wow.................

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Coffee is ready, english muffins and fresh fruit!

I may be shopping for another machine soon, as this one keeps freezing up on me. It is a Brother, and just out of the blue, it jams up, and the only thing that will free it is a good spray from the WD 40 can! it says DO NOT OIL, but I can't figure out what else to do! It is not even 2 years old! So I guess, I will go to the stores when I go to San Antonio this week end and see what is available?

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1271259/ LK, you're needed there! ^_^
I wish you good luck on getting a new machine. You can always fix that Brother and use it as a second machine.
Hope you find a good dealer that will stand behind her product.

Morning sistahs!!
8 glorious drops, Betty. Sorry.. that wasn't a jeer. Sometimes Lord does have a sense of humor doesn't He? As long as you're not experiencing a dry spell like in certain parts of the States.

Susan, my idea of camping is in a structured housing or hotel! Did that once with ex in a tent, and I wasn't too happy with the mosquitoes competing for blood! Fortunately Kel has never pursue that thought of braving it out in the wild.

A beautiful day it will be today, as I intend to do NADA!! Wishful thinking there!! Lol!!
Still on my happy pill. Since the amt. is doubled, sometimes I get a slight buzz. Oh well, inducing more smiles and laughter is better than anxieties right?

Have a terrific Tuesday sistahs.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the link Jaye! I think this machine is beyond repair. I will be looking for a new one when I go to San Antonio, this week end.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I upgraded my Internet Explorer and now when I try to get on a forum in DG it says IE can't open it........what the heck!! So I go over to Google Chrome and no problem.

I started out today being a total klutz. Knocked over a flower pot that DH had drilled holes in the bottom and of course broke it. Just going to glue that sucker back together and not tell DH. At least it was a cheap pot. Then I had a small jar of beef broth in the fridge and it got knocked over so am mopping out the fridge. Had to take a computer break, pretty poor excuse for playing..

We did a lot of camping, in a tent, when the boys were young. Really enjoyed it, but I don't think camping is in my future. Have a friend who has a beautiful 5th whee trailer and I'm waiting to be asked to go with them on an outing. She does the camping bit in the comforts of home.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pegi, I have not used IE explorer for a long time, it had too many loading issues for any site I went to. I have been using chrome for a long time now!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sadly, I'll be stuck with I.E for as long as I'm on dial up!

Pegi, some days we feel like nuts, don't we?
After that camping fiasco, my ex is in posession of a RV and a Taurus camper. Don't know why he clung to them as he doesn't do any camping after the split.

Okay ladies, think I'll be losing more weight!! My gall bladder is acting up again. I'm already on a simple fare, nothing rich. Got to cut off spices totally, and that's not easy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Jaye, that sure hurts when they flare up like that! Not fun! Get a supply of mylanta or tums.
Jaye, you can use chrome with dial up. I did it for a long time, before we got cable. Same with firefox, as DG suggest. It is all free, and easy to download.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Doctor had re-prescribed Protonix, LK.
As for Chrome, I've tried it, and that froze up a lot of sites. Think it all depends on the carrier.
Never tried Firefox.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Home
Under severe weather alert for next 5 hours
Tired
Love foxfire!! LOL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Love Chrome - hate IE!

Marion - keep safe, please...........

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I'm really beginning to hate IE too. I do like chrome, still trying to get used to it though. It lets me into sites IE won't. I do have Firefox downloaded so should play with that a little and see how I like it.

I have a PayPal account under Pegi instead of my legal name so now they want all this information with picture ID for my account. I didn't know I couldn't use a nickname and I've had my account for a very long time. So, now everything has to be in legal name of Margaret. I just discovered that when I wanted to use PayPal to order some vacuum cleaner bags. Maybe they are just trying to make it more secure.

Be Safe Marion!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

The worst of the weather seem to go around us...did get rain but thankfully no bad storms. Could hear them all around us.

I haven't tried Chrome....might download to see what it is like.

Have a great day all.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning sistahs.
Welcome home Marion. Get lots of rest, if you can. Hope there's no damage to your property.

Pegi, it's for security measures too that my bank requires us to change our password every month!! That's a pain for sure.
Who would want to hack into our acct. when there are only cents left!! Lol!

Another hot day, with expected thundershowers in the evening. That's a saving grace!

Breakfast for today is leeks and asparagus fritatta. Hot coffee with your choice of creamer. Sometimes I use left over pasta in my fritatta or even chunks of baked potatoes.

Oh what a lovely breakfast!
My life has been hectic since arriving...had doctor appointment yesterday only to have another scheduled for this morning. This morning was cancelled as the tech to do my test is sick. Nothing serious..precautionary measures being taken...scan of the arteries in my neck and sleep test. Needless to say I didn't sleep very well with the machine attached to my finger and this "bag" always hanging around. Oh well, done with so await the next step.

No damage here from last night and thankfully the worst went around us...the thunder however, was horrible..loud and frequent! A slow steady rain for most of the night and it is continuing this morning. Doesn't make it a good day to finish staining the new shelves for the kitchen. Will work on another area. Have a contractor coming the end of this week or first of next to finish up what I have referred to as the "Dungeon" alias: mother in laws suite/soon to be guest crafting suite. Need to get the rest of the things moved to other locations so the work goes smoother. My son just doesn't have the time anymore and this has drug out way, way to long!!!! I need it finished.

Pegi, seems like every time we turn around there are more rules and regulations. I know security is the ultimate goal but sometimes it appears to be over done.

Well need to return the pulse ox machine to the doctors office so had better get busy with that.

Later.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Thanks for breakfast Jaye!
Marion, glad to hear you had no damage. Hope you get good results from your Dr.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

There are a few swaps open if anyone is interested.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Mmmm leeks and asparagus, sounds so good. I'll have a large piece and refill my coffee cup please.

I have to get to the library today and pick up some books they have on hold for me. Hard to get moving, but once I'm on my feet and headed the right way I'll be OK.

Changing my password all the time would be most confusing. Have to keep a log book so I remember my user name and passwords on all my sites. Oh well, if I would use my legal name for everything I wouldn't have a problem. But, if DH calls me Margaret I think I'm in trouble for something. LOL

i had my cousin and her step sister come and visit. There is nothing like family to perk up a person. Even my family. LOL I have not seen her in 20 yrs !
she had her two kids and then her step sis has a dd . We had a great time !!
i hid the fairys that i have in Jessica's garden all over my back garden. Girls had a blast finding them ! I had the convinced they don't move when boys are in the garden. LOL truly fun entertainment.
i m sad to see them leave. I have not seen my family in so long. My parents did come last fall for a 5 days.
well its pouring rain here !!! a good rain too. and it feels good ! the ground is actually wet !
sold most of my plants too. so i don't have to worry about watering them .

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you had a great visit!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sue, thrilled to hear you had family visit, as you say, it's the best of visits..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You're so right Sue, nothing like family to lift you up. Especially one that you haven't seen for years. I can imagine the girls squealing when they found a fairy.
You deserve more smiles and good times, girl.

Pegi, I'd be worried too if your DH were to call you Margaret!! That definitely calls for an "Oh oh"moment!

A bland diet for me from now on. Right now, my supper is a can of lima beans :( When I get hungry later, I'll treat myself to some saltines.
That teach me to stay away from hot chilli peppers!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sue - so glad your visit went well - not seeing family for 20 years?!?! yikes!
Marion - glad you're home and there was no property damage. Now, to get great results from the Dr!
Jaye - lima beans is bland? Sorry to hear you have to watch your diet of spicy foods........ Yummy looking breakie, Jaye!!!!

Busy getting ready for camping this weekend!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!
Full breakfast today, which I can only enjoy virtually.
Link sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon on hash... side of pancakes with butter and syrup.
Dear me, I will have to be content with a cup of sugar free orange jello.

Marion, hope your sleep aepnia test is normal.

Betty, being you're over the hottest day of summer, how warm is it now?
We're still experiencing above 90 here but thankfully the grounds are kept wet, so no fear of brush fire.

Have a great day everyone! I'll try to sew today.. so behind in some projects..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! That is one hearty breakfast Jaye. I am working on the dresden plates, I have them cutout, and will have to wait for a new machine to sew them.
Barb, sending you lots of prayers as you go through your surgery today. Have someone keep us posted please?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hey Judy, my Grandma used to use those percolators, and she always had broken egg shells in the bottom. You could eat Granny's coffee, she perked it for about an hour!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Jaye 79 with a breeze, perfect kind of day..only thing missing is the rain!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Judy, thanks for the news on Thunder. Hope she's able to find a sub pc soon. Pls. tell her we miss her.
Sistah, you got to eat a full breakfast with all the energy you put out the rest of the day!

(((((((Barb)))))), sending prayers here for your surgery.

I envy your 79 Betty. Your garden's enjoying that kind of weather. Bet the blooms are non-stop.
It's mixed signals weather for my garden. Hot then down pour!
The relentless heat here kinda baked some buds before they could unfurled! Then the heavy showers knocked off some brugs that are just starting to bloom :(

LK, question.
Why did your granma had eggshells in her percolator?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wish I knew, she had done that for years.

Look what I found on Google.
http://www.livestrong.com/article/478447-how-to-use-eggshells-in-coffee/
Egg shells are alkaline, while coffee is acidic. When added to coffee, the egg shells remove much of the bitterness and mellow out the flavor. Egg shells are also used in making campfire coffee -- boiling loose grounds in a pot of water -- because the shells help keep the grounds in the bottom of the pot. In modern coffee pots you don't need the shells to hold down the grounds, but you can still use them to reduce the acidity in your morning cup.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ahh.. learn something everyday!
I have to avoid coffee as it's acidic. Maybe I could use the egg shell trick?
Thanks LK.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Funny that is something I had forgotten about..egg shells in the coffee pot. Dad always put them in when he made coffee on a campfire and my grandmother..absolutely did it. She never did explain why or than her mother did, so she did too. I think that is how many things like that came about.

It is horrendous outside today. I walked out to tell my yardman what I wanted done and am soaking wet. Much to my surprise, I discovered while walking around the lot that the ground is very soft and squeeshy...yuck! More rain predicted today after a good hard rain last night. LOL listen to us...we are either complaining about the cold or the heat; drought or rain. Ah such is life, I guess.

Thinking of Barb and hoping to hear something soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Won't be long blizzards will be here so best I enjoy these beautiful sunshine days..

Prayers said for Barb as well!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
