oh ya...... of course heat stroke would upset your tummy, and annie's such a little one.......
could you give her a warm water bath? Too cold would be worse, and of course you wouldn't want to give her a hot one.......
SWEET INTERRUPTIONS #243
I'd LOVE to see a goat getting a bath!!!
Sis, since Annie is used to being in the house, she's not acclimatised to the heat. Perhaps you can give her chilled water?
That reminds me, got to take some ice to Hambone.
Ahh, thanks for the explanation there, Susan.
The sanitation guys hired are young, but they look like Chippendale's rejects!!
she seems to be doing better. praying its just a tummy ache.
We have 3 barrels for trash, green waste, and recycleables. If you don't put it in one of the barrels it just doesn't get picked up. Trash men just have to drive around here too, no getting out of the truck to get trash. Don't put trash in recycle barrel or you might get a ticket. I'm all for recycling, but sometimes I wish I just could throw everything in the trash. The guys get paid pretty good money so I think they should have to do some work!! Now that is said and done I better get busy and get some work done inside the house. I
Glad to hear she is doing better!
Susan, we have the same garbage cans here, and if there is anything sticking out of the top, the lid has to close, or they will not pick it up. They will also not pick up anything laying on the ground. We are supposed to have a once a month large item pick up, but were lucky to get that once a year! They pick large items up with a crane, and put them in a huge open truck.
Jaye, please be careful in that heat!
Marion, have a good trip!
Barb, still saying prayers for your family in Colorado. I heard more than 300 homes were destroyed in the fire.
We must be living in a poor county.
The sanitation guys have no such mechanical means to dump the cans. Still using muscle.
Due to the business and paying more for the service, we are given 3 huge cans. All for trash.
Nothing allotted for recyling, all going to the dump yard.
LK, thanks sistah. I am being smart in this heat. Hat's always on. Don't stay too long outside and above all, plenty of water.
You do the same too!
We have 3 bins - City gave us a blue one for recycled cardboard, but they don't pick up. We got another one for recycled bottles (plastic, juice boxes and glass) but they don't pick that up either (we take it to the Bottle Depot and get reimbursed for the recycle fee when we buy them. The only thing the garbage guys pickup is the trash, in a black bin.
Well, better go to the Dr for my 2x annual checkup for meds. He won't renew without seeing him...... arrrrgh.
annie just took another bottle and is munching on honeysuckle, so i think she will be fine as frog hair
GREAT! glad to hear she's better, and of course you're more relaxed about it!!
Hi Ladies,
We have the same garbage cans too gray for garbage really small, green for yard waste huge, and blue for recycle huge. I recycle just about everything. And ours is the same way if lid isn't closed they won't pick it up. I bring my mom's garbage down here, one way of helping her out with another bill. She gets charged $50 every two months for 1 stinking garbage can, I pay $80 every 3 months for all 3 cans. Plus they give us coupons for for bulky pick ups, 1 big item (frig, couch etc) and 10 32 gallon bags of garbage, for FREE!!!! They also gave us a coupon for 50 gallons of compost mulch must go get that soon.
Taking Doug's mom out to dinner for her b-day. Cool Hand Luke's, a steak house that was recently bought by an Asin person and has now added fish and lobster. So we will see if it is as good as when we took Doug's dad, back in Jan.
Doug has a crock pot of chili going for a chili cook off tomorrow. HOLY COW!!!! that stuff is HOT!!! I took one little bite and had to drink a glass of milk. Gonna be funny to see what everybody else thinks. Everybody that pays $3.00 gets to judge the chili.
Just a quick note to tell you that we finally heard from my son and his house did not burn. Not so for several of his neighbors. Everyone is in a state of shock and are inconsolable. My son and his wife are feeling guilty because their house was spared. The house directly across the street and three others are gone just on the short part of his street. The city is going to bus them in tomorrow to see the exterior of their homes. They are not allowed in yet and have no idea when they will be allowed.
I want to thank you all so very much for your prayers. I do believe in them and even more so now.
Love to you all,
Barb
Nice road trip and Mexican dinner. All is well but hot!!
Wow Barb.......... Praise the Lord - their house was spared!!! So close, and yet still spared while other's houses weren't......... PTL!
You're very welcome - amazing isn't it, what a prayer circle can do with The Lord's help?
Marion - sounds like your trip to Bainbridge was a success! Car have a/c?
Standard equipment.
Barb, so glad to hear about his home! Must be devastating to those that lost thier homes?
Praise the Lord, Barb that your son's home isn't affected. Guess, it's normal for a very compassionate man to feel that survivor's guilt.
I'm sure the govt. will have to step in and give aid to all those that need, and I do hope the insurers don't give any problems to those victims.
Yes Susan, it's standard here in the South that all cars have a/c.
Cindy, did Doug win??? Milk after spicy chilli? Won't that upset your stomach?
We had Moroccan last night Marion.
Beef Kebabs, saffron rice and terrible humus!! Kel raves on the humus, but that's his first try. It's not as good as the ones I had tried before.
Kebabs lacked spices but tolerable, the saffron rice was the only thing that made it worthwile for his HS buddy to pay for the meal!!! Of course, gracious moi didn't complain not one bit. After all it's free!!
I don't think that restaurant will last long in a small town, unless the owner sells more of the American fare on his menu.
We wanted Mexican, but being David's from El Paso, agreed to something different.
Should have had Menudo or Carnitas!
Good morning sistahs. If you don't mind, no breakfast at all.
I had spent 2 hours deep watering everything 3/4s of the garden :(
2 years ago, it would take me another half hour.
No mosquitoes bothered me, they didn't like the citronella oil.
If not for some weeds, I think I'd be losing more plants this year in this heat. Lol!!
Well.. gonna take a shower.. do some washing... feed the critters.
Marion?? Question... how many cats do your sister have now? I have 8 indoors and about 10 plus another 10 "unregistered" outside.
If she wants more, let me know. I'll bring a couple along next year.
Have a terrific Saturday sistahs. Hope your weather won't be as hot as mine and LK.
Expecting to hit 110 today!
Brought over the news on what Sue's facing now.

Heard from Sue around 6PM.
First off : The Family is FINE!
Unfortunately the T-Storm that raced thru Ohio flattened their Greenhouse.
She said the frame looks like a pretzel.
She can't get internet connection but will be on w/ more details
Oh no, hope it did not destroy too many of the plants? Sorry to hear the green house was destroyed.
I am having desktop computer problems, I can get onto DG and the the other room, but I can not get to my Google homepage, eBay, Facebook or anything else? I have run defragmentation, anti virus, and it is not picking up any virus at all? Still trying to figure it put?
I am glad I have my iPad!
I have the old Google for my homepage.
Google Chrome somehow don't get along with my FB. Moreover, it's using too much RAM for my slow dial up.
Sis, you might have to ask for help on the computer forum.
Morning...notice no "good" as I seem to have gotten a yucky summer cold!! I can't even remember when I had one of these. Suppose to be in the triple numbers today so not much planned.
Sue has 22 cats at the moment and if you show up with a cat or 2 next year you might find the doors locked!!! LOL She seriously doesn't need any more animals----is complaining about being "tied down" all her life with Mom but when in truth ...it is the animals. All have medical problems that no one is welling to do so she can take a trip or anything. I will say, I don't know if they are real or is it is Sue. She keeps a spread sheet in the kitchen to keep up with all the various meds she gives them.
Well my coffee cup is empty so I think I will go refill it.......later.
Sorry to hear you have the crud Marion, get better soon!
Oh my Lord!!!
Marion, your sister needs prayers!! A spreadsheet for her cats?
At least she's getting some discounts for their meds. Bless her heart.. I mean that in a nice way.
She might be filling a void in her life with those cats, Marion. I'm sure you know that. Still, that's 20 cats too many.
Yep, there's no way she can go anywhere unless she hires a house sitter.
Take care of that crud Marion. Put some whiskey in that coffee.....
Good idea about the whiskey in the coffee...this is the pits believe me!!
Jaye, to be honest with you I am not sure about the discounts....she says she does but knowing what her vet bill are, I doubt it! Part of the problem is she will not "let go" even after the vet tells her there is nothing left they can do....she still wants to try something. Sad part is after working as a tech for a vet she knows more than she should!!!! I have suspected they are replacing something in her life...sad thing is..it is by choice! She is totally opposite from me..a loner. Well was until recently now she is still wanting me to move down there. Not going to happen.
Marion, meds are atrociously high without discounts, and worst, needing a vet visit for the prescriptions.
I try to boost my cats immune health with L-Lysine. Sprinkle that on their wet food every morning, as some of them have that upper respiratory infection that antibiotics don't help.
Certainly, your life has your own stamp. Your two worlds will collide should you move in with your sister.
You haven't been diagnosed with depression yet.. why risk that?
As much as I love my family in Singapore, there's no way I can move back there. They said they wanted me to return, when I can't "do" for myself. Love them to death, but there's the old folks home for me.
Only one sister that I'll live with, and that's Zi.. cause we're both alike. That will be an easy adjustment.
But Kel is here, and maybe it's a blessing that he might outlive me!!
22 cats!!!! o..my. goodness!! That's just wrong......... as I know you now. Sometimes a little education is too much education, especially in this case. I wonder how many of those lovely cats are suffering from her "best intentions". And the $$ of the meds........ doesn't bear thinking about.
Jaye - those are beautiful flowers!!!!!
Today we're making a difficult decision....... taking our cat "Baby" to the Humane Society. "No Kill Shelters" here won't take cats from individuals, only institutions - I suppose like the Humane Society.
Baby's 11 yo, and is sweet, gentle and 'bright eyed and bushy-tailed" but....... has had a major fault to 9 of her 11 years...... she defecates anywhere she wants, in our home. She's an indoor cat, and Bob cleans her litter 2-3 times a day, and we're home with her, and play with her a lot, but - she will "go" in the LR, BR, on our bed...... under the dining room table, behind us as we stand somewhere......... Not Clean, or Sanitary.
Now, she's taking to gong on the DR table, and on the high-up TV console, and eating plants or taking them down from waaaaaay up high. She's obviously energetic enough, but in the past couple of months she's been getting worse. Don't know why she's doing this.
We had, once upon a time, taken her to a behaviouralist at the Humane Society in Winnipeg, and it worked for awhile, then she started defecating everywhere again. I value her, but cannot be "stepping in it" everywhere I turn around.......
No, we won't be "replacing her" with another cat.
Good Morning Ladies,
Jaye cook off is today. I only took a very small bite because I knew it was HOT. Dang when you take the lid off to smell it burns your eyes, lol. He put 3 different chili peppers plus sauce, I don't like hot food so hot that you can't taste anything because your mouth is on fire. He poured some juice on the dogs food, Amy kept drinking water. I chewed his butt out what an idiots jeez!!!!
OMG poor Sue :(, yes hope there is not too much damage to the plants.
LK I have been having problems with FB too, you would think after going public they would get a better server. I have Mozilla Firefox and it's not working to good at all, it crashed on me while playing a game on FB. I think I'm going back to Google. IE won't work on some games on FB for some reason.
Yes Google and Firefox both take up a lot of memory.
Doug was out in his shed, "cleaning" lol, (all he did was move stuff from one place to another) But anyhow he came across an old cedar chest, looks like something from the 60's maybe. I'm going to see if I can refinish it, but don't know what to use on the outside to protect the cedar. The paneling that is on it now is peeling off.
You think that is a lots of cats? At one point in time there were 32. No I am not kidding!
Jaye, no way could I ever move back there or live with her. The first year Mom was sick and I was there from August to April got to be very difficult. I am the one, according to her, that has only thought about myself...now and always. Sorry but I married, left home, raised my family and just continuing going on even after losing Ross. Oh well it is what it is...............
Sue, I am so sorry...I didn't realize that section of the country was having such bad weather. Shame of me for not being more alert. Would definitely help you if I were closer.
dare I say............ how's the Memory Garden? ((((((((((((Sue))))))))))))
Sorry Sue, ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))
Marion, do I dare ask if she has thought about getting rid of some of the cats, so she can get away? That is a lot of responsibility.
Cindy, good luck for the chili cook off. Tell him, I will kick his butt if he gives those poor dogs anymore hot stuff. It is not good for them.

LK, I don't think you want to hear the "lecture" I have received when that is suggested!!!!!! In short, she doesn't tell me what to do with my life and money (instead huge WHAT?) and therefore I have NO business telling her what to do! That is it in a nutshell.
ah well, nuts for nutshells, eh? Is she the "infamous" cat lady of FL? lol
I'm sure there are other people with more cats, but I don't personally know of any.
things can be worse i guess. we are thankful nothing more was destroyed. Colorado is having terrible fires, FL flooding and much worse in the world. We are thankful .
it just puts a bend in things that is all. Its a journey.
Gigi's garden is ok. the deer do more damage then the winds LOL i need to do another round of Liquid Fence .
I'm glad Gigi's garden is ok!
I saw what was happening in Ohio on the news......... how dreadful!! Those winds are terrible!
No, no.. no!! Cindy!!! Don't let Doug do that to the poor kids again!
I'll help LK kick his other butt cheek!
Love peppers, but I agree, sometimes the heat of the chillis seriously masked the flavors.
OR, some idiot chefs decide to add so much cheese to chillis.. maybe because the chilli itself is bad?
When it comes to chillis, I love the meat chunky, no cheese, and sometimes some crumbled bacon to top it, along with green onions. Oh yah, you'd make me happy if the beans are black beans!
Good luck tomorrow Doug and you need to share your recipe with us!
Marion, certainly it's your life. No one can dictate how you should live. Even God gives you the power to decide which choice you want to take. That goes for your sister too.
You have the confidence to develop a relationship with Ross. Your sister, as you said, a loner, is lacking that. It's not your fault that she chose a solitary life.
I have a sister just like Sue. She's always turning down suitors as she has 'trust issues'. Said that she's too scared to develop relationships with 'strangers'. Sadly that's the truth, and unfortunately her fears had turned her to marrying our second cousin, much to the family's disapproval.
Don't let your sister makes you feel guilty. You now have your own family. And actually they should come first.
Slap me when you see me next year, if you think I voiced my opinions too much! Lol!
Sue, I am glad that it's just the greenhouse. Could have been the house! Heavens forbid... and thank God you and the kids and Lucy are safe.
Thank God too for one functioning green house, and thank God for Gigi's Garden surviving that storm.
Wish I am closer to help you Sue. Least I can do is cook some good meals for you and the kids ;D
Yes, I know, I'm addressing my sistahs, individually.
Tonight I feel like doing it. I visited my church sister Carolyn, and I realised how important my online sistahs are to me.
LK, have you found answers to your pc issues?
Hope you're able to have access to FB. I know you like your games.
Those viruses you're talking about, may be from other sites that you visited that's listed on FB. You know the ones you click on and it brings you to www.com. FB itself is a very secure site. I don't do games on FB, but I try to avoid going to those commercial sites. The most I interacted with them is just to "like" them.
NEVER too much, Jaye - you say things from the Heart, and with God's blessing.
I know I do too, and sometimes I get facts messed up and then I'm in trouble (blush) but still - said from the heart.....
Sorry for your sister, Jaye - trust issues mean you close off your heart. What's that saying? Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.............
