New wheels.
Coffee Break # 81
Oooh, nice!
What is the sign on the front door?
West Point.
Victor - why does your new car have a West Point sign on it?
Because I put it there. It's a magnet.
I like the color
Thanks - me too.
I went to Vassar, in Dutchess County, so the 30+ year memories of West Point mixers still resonates...
i can remember my old track coach telling us about his visit to west point when he was deciding on where to go to school. He saw cadets jumping off a cliff using what appeared to be sheets for fun. That closed the deal - he went to another school, said they were nuts:)
nice.. good luck with it Victor
DH played in a few handball tournaments at West Point, I liked going for the weekend.
It's a fantastic setting. Very scenic. Great atmosphere. Would love to work there.
It's been a long time, we should go back. I did paint a scene of the tracks along the river from a picture I took while driving back.
Gosh, Deb....didn't know you painted..... it is a pretty setting.....
women??
my wife is leaving for work this morning and loudly calls me down to the garage for an "emergency". i get down there and a baby robin is sitting under the over hang to get out of the light rain and would not move. she doesn't know what the bird is and thinks it is injured. i just walked up to it and it flies off. she "claims" she walked up to it and stamped her feet. i am suspicious of this because she stayed way back when i walked over to the bird and without making a sound it flew off to the other side of the driveway.
i explained it was a baby robin, just getting its wings and probably was just getting out of the rain. i think she was convinced there was going to be a hitchcock "birds" incident and wanted no part of the little birdie :)
Awww.....poor baby.....tell Cindy I have to go out onto the screened in porch to rescue birds frequently....I do it with a big straw hat....
Good morning everyone. Just want to pop in and say hi! :)
I was ruthlessly cutting on the evil plant growing in my neighbor's lilacs and distrubed a bird's nest. I felt so bad! If there were babies, I hope they are OK. The parents are the cat birds that steal my blueberries. I can walk up to 3 feet of one of them without it fleeing. I see it scolding Meeyow when he is in the blueberry area. It ought to keep it's beak shut when there is a cat in sight. Guess that is why they are called "bird brains".
awww poor Cindy, LOL
she now claims that she just did not want to run over it and thought i would have to move it by hand................sure
It could have been stunned.. That has happened here, after a bird has flown into the window and they won't move for me at first but after a few minutes they fly off. I had a chicka dee in my garage twice in a row this spring. It was really odd. The second time I couldn't figure out how he got in there.
Just back from a nice day in the city with the kids. Walked over the Brooklyn bridge - a first for me. Also hit Central Park, FAO Schwarz and Rocky Ctr.
Sounds like a great trip! I have a catbird, also, Memory.....he's noisier than the wren!
I love FAO Schwartz
I have a catbird that hangs out in one of the rhodies next to my downstairs window where my office is, a few weeks ago he was quacking like a duck, I thought there was one in our yard and went out to check
Saw a cool bird in CP. Black with a small orange slit on its side. Any idea??
Only one I can think of
http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/red-winged_blackbird/id
That was my guess too.
Think that's it. So it's pretty common. Never saw one.
They have a cool call too, and will dive bomb you if you get too close to their nest
This one was making a racket!
I saw one of those on the way to Teri's
Hi Meredith! Nice to hear from you! How are things with you?
Definitely a red-winged blackbird. They are very common in Florida, but I like them.
Bill, i am rolling with laughter at your take on Cindy and the baby bird. I'm sure you are not surprised that I can relate totally to her version of the story! I am always afraid of hurting little things, after the fatal "Whiskers" trauma in 5th grade when I was chosen to change the little cage where Whiskers the Class Pet Worm was living, and I carefully removed him from the cage and then promptly turned around and stepped on him. You've never heard so many screaming girls in all your life. I was never entrusted with any other delicate tasks again. My college roommate was in that class, and she never lets me forget the foul deed. Mr. Pardue, our teacher, just looked at me and shook his head. That said it all, and I've never moved on. :(
ROTFL, awww that poor worm!
We were working in the yard at our old house and there was a toad hanging out on our rock wall(yes I USED to have a rock wall!) all day, hubby stepped on it, I almost had a heart attack...I felt so bad for the poor guy
Uh - I think Louise changed the story a bit to minimize the guilt. The teacher's real name was PERDUE, and the rest, as they say, was history...;)
LOL
RW blackbirds have a call which sounds like a rusty gate.
Nice wheels Victor, you'll love all wheel drive!
