Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends

See in New Jersey somewhere, the were on the school field having graduation and a funnel spout started near them all all stayed on the field .. Sure could have been tragic..they did everything they should not have done!

okay - I'm officially worried........ Bob just came home from his 2 weeks on the job with this new boss (Construction) and he asked Bob - 'want to get paid at beginning or end of day'. Bob asked what's the difference "one day's pay".
Now Bob's home, without getting paid, and the boss said "I'll call you at supper time when I have the cheque ready". My question is, why, when he knew how many hours Bob would put in today, couldn't he have written the cheque (I don't like cheques from people I don't know.......) while he was with Bob?!?! Why did he have to separate at the end of the day to give him his 2 week's pay?
Bob said "he wouldn't stiff me" and I said - "what?!?! you've never been stiffed before?!?!" It's after 5, and I haven't heard anything from the boss. He was going to call with his "arrangements" and Bob doesn't know if that means they meet somewhere, or if the boss will come by............ WHY am I married to such a sweetheart that trusts everyone?

I've never met Bob's boss, so was hoping he'd learned from past "scams" he'd been dealt before. He swore he was done with trusting everyone...........

I'll try to post our first dinner at Disneyworld's Magic Kingdom. The kids were blown away... we got to meet Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White, Belle and Aurora. DS was tonque tied....

We had conversations with the princesses. DSD1 asked Ariel what is this? (Holding up her fork) without missing a beat Ariel tells us it is a dinglehopper and she uses it to comb her hair so was very uncomfortable about all the folks putting them in their mouths.... LOL

I just finished another evaluation of my MS Office skills - this from an agency that I worked with years ago. They phoned me today asking "why didn't you contact us when you're looking for work?"
It had been 3 years since I worked for them, and I had gotten a "Job Alert Automatic email" with a position that they'd posted, and was just thinking of calling them when they called me lol
Well, hope I did ok on the test.... I have an interview with them Wed at 7:30

btw - Bob's boss said "email me your info - address, Social Insurance #, etc, and when I get home from work I'll give you your paycheque.........." It's 8pm, and we haven't heard from him yet, except when I told Bob to call him and he did. Said he was still working, on a Service Call. Also, Bob didn't fill out any paperwork to get hired, just an "off-the-cuff" hiring. Bob won't listen to any of my worries......

Dianne, BIG BIG HUGS, hope Streak is "just"depressed, and will soon be feeling better, am sure he is missing Stormy and Warren, and also sure he is feeling your pain......

Many years ago, we had three dogs, a brother and sister, then another, got them all close to same time, they spent 2 years together, then we had to move......gave the girl to a friend of mine......the boys did not eat for a few days, and jumped to the door everytime someone came in.....had not done that before, I know they were hoping to see her come in the door......many years later, one of the boys passed, the other went down hill fast, I think he died of a broken heart......they become such a part of us....so hard to lose BIG BIG HUGS.......

my computer is being a pain in the butttt.......so if I am not on......don't worry......

Bob's boss just came by, with paycheque for 2 weeks. Bob just doesn't understand why I was worried & upset.

1. Bob is again self-employed and responsible for his taxes.
2. Bob has been scammed so many times I've lost track - 4 different people, and thousands of $$. One of them scammed him about 5 times - supposedly a "good friend" who didn't pay him several times for work done.
3. he was supposed to pay hours ago, and for a first paycheque, I really was worried.

I checked out their website, and they seem to be a viable company. I didn't know the company name until tonight.

Morning all..black sky and heavy rain, inside day for sure! Have an appointment at car dealership at 9am but not sure I will keep it..still undecided about new car.

Dianne, here is hoping Streak gets to come home today! How many furries are you mom to?

Susan glad Bob ended up with a paycheck, think your being upset was more to do with the importance of that paycheck,after all bills need to be paid. How fantastic it would be to get you working as well.

Susan, what a relief. Not a good time to be so worried about being stiffed on two weeks' pay.

I ended up sleeping yesterday afternoon again. I don't feel sick, mostly I just get very tired. I think it has to do with the low grade pain that is usually not so bad I'm miserable but does tend to drain a lot of energy. No big deal and if I get tired on the road I can always stop and rest in my new bed!!

My brain gets fuzzy when the pain distracts me. Still no surgery date but my arm is better since I used the harness.

Think I'm just having my usual pre-trip jitters. But with my new van and the preparations we've made I think I'll be OK.

My mechanic, Pollo, is comoing out to pick up th van to change the oil and check it over

Forgot to say that making the curtains is one of those jobs that entwined with several others, like cleaning shalves and labeling craft supplies. I put on my blinders and put one foot in front of the other.

I've learned that I am vulnerable to injuring myself at imes like this. Have to remind myself that none of the chores are a big deal except, of course, getting the dogs fed. After my nap all yesterday afternoon they got dry food last night. This hardly ever happens but they didn't seem to mind. Everyone wanted hugs this morning.

Well, we just made plans to go to Corpus Christi to the beach for my Birthday. We will be there Wed, and Thursday, and it will be extra special as Andy, Heather and the kids will be there also!

Betty - yes, paying bills was a worry, but I think 2/3 of the worry was that he would get himself in deep again with yet another con-man........ it's a recurring thing with him, he's so trusting. Some of my cautious nature has rubbed off on him, but now he's annoyed that I'm "interferring". Ah well, it's part of being married, for both of us........

My Streak is to remain in the hospital all weekend on intervenous fluid. He is somewhat more aware but still is quite lethargic. He did tell them what he thought of being left alone a the vet's all night though when they opened up this morning.

Well, bit the bullet this morning, bought a new scar..sonic Lt with all the whistles, even putting on a hitch..because of what they are bringing in and the hitch might not get it for a week or two..told them I'm in no hurry, just need it for my USA trip end of July..Larry salesman and friend of Greg's said not to worry, I'd probably have the car well broken in by then..

Only thing I hate about being on my own is making such decisions on my own..oh well, signed the deal so guess its too late to worry what if, what if??

Thank you Betty - yes more info on the new ride please ! MIL got through the surgery Monday with no complications, back home by Wednesday. She had plenty of company up through then so I brought her over some fruit/goodies yesterday and spent a couple hours talking to her.
The surgery not giving her as much issues as past colon problems that cropped back up...

Our kids first car was a 2001 Chevy truck... it got pretty banged up
DSD2 drove into a ditch Thursday afternoon in the bad weather... she was pretty lucky and pretty shaken.

We got her car to the shop this morning.

Anyway MIL has someone coming over today and all next week in the mornings so I reminded her that I can come out in the afternoon.

I would hope with a 6 week recovery she would know to call on me to help.

DH and I started cleaning up the garage today in anticipation of the Model A Tune up day at our house 6/23 Sat.

OH LK - I'm so excited for your beach Birthday ! Where will you be staying ?

We are still looking at different motels, but we want one on the beach, so it looks like they will be about $100.00 to $150 per night. But will be so worth it, so we don't have to drive from town while we are there. We can just get up, and walk out on the beach!

LindaKay, sounds fantastic..I was so impressed with the coast of Texas..I started in Galveston (year of the oil spill) was just about dead in town, then travelled the coast to padre island then we crossed over into Mexico for a shopping day..left car on USA side..absolutely breathtaking coastline..what town or city will you be?? Drats, sure wish I could join you...

We will be in Corpus Christie, and on Padre Island. It is a beautiful place, that is where my youngest son got married eight years ago. On the beach! That was my first time in salt water, and I was not aware of how much it burned the freshly shaved legs! OW!!!

Timed myself, 5 1/2 hrs non stop to cut the grass..weeding will have to wait until tomorrow!
