Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great day!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends
Judy, laying on the couch, isn't very productive is it! Dull and cold out, grass needs cutting so trying to talk myself into cutting grass!, lots more talking to do, what I've said so far is not working.
As I said, did outdoor cushions this morning..easy project..then foiled bevels for bedroom window then got a lazy on..
Called my girlfriend Dianne, her birthday today, talked about the gathering and she said weather permitting her hubby would take the group up to Big Chute to see marine railway by pontoon boat, so that is in the works!
Gabbed with Darlene, she thought she might take a ride to Mudland and if she does will drop sooo felt I should get dressed. Lol
Cake sure looks yummy
Now my mouth really is watering!! If I wasn't so lazy I'd go to Foodland and pick one up..craving sweets..
Just made it home... am reading feverishly hoping I did not miss out on much and will post tomorrow...
((HUGS)) to all....
Mary
(((((((Mary)))))))) good to see you home again!! Did you have a good and safe trip?!?!
Welcome home Mary! Waiting for pics and to read all about your adventures.
Ohhh Mary's home..waiting patiently as well.
Not an outside day again, ohh Dianne have you seen the forecast for the next week or so, lots/lots of rain..not good! My thoughts as I look outside is let it rain now and give me. Sunshine weekend for the gathering!!
Promising to get dressed this morning..
Light mist falling, so hoping by afternoon even if not sunshine I can get to cut the grass..always feel better once it's done.
Did a walk through the gardens, hops are doing well covering 2 of the 3 arbors of the secret garden, the 3rd barely growing, hard to understand seeing hops grow inches every day regardless of the soil it's planted in..hmm have to try some other vine..tried honeysuckle, it grows about 3 ft then that is it..just not a vine peson..
Well, think I'll go see if I can clean my craftroom as it sure does need it!
About an hour away from finishing stained glass piece for bedroom, Gayle put together bevels for outside row, oops calculated wrong..might drop in to her studio tomorrow night and get replacements..need to get it hung so it does not take up space or get broken..
Hooe there is sunshine in your neck of the woods and that you've great Sunday plans..
Can you share
Good morning all.
We were planning on going to Brandon's horse show today but we inherited all your rain and B said they would not be going. It can be very dangerous for the horses and they are too valuable to risk. As you can tell, he made the decision to stay home and let another student go to Washington DC. He felt he had the honor in being asked. He played in the band competition on Friday and they came in second place. He was really glad he was there.
So on this dreary day, Norm has gone back to bed for a while and I'm here deciding what I'll do. I think finish up a couple of blocks for Cher in the sewing thread and then start on my new mystery quilt. We had to pick four fabrics and I went completely out of my comfort zone this time with bright batiks. So it should be interesting to see this quilt unfold over the next five months.
I like hearing about life south of the border Katie and hope today is a good one for you.
Glad to hear you made it home safely Mary and I'm looking forward to seeing your photos....
Has anyone heard from Bev lately? I worry. And Laura? I worry. And Suze down in GA? I worry. Thinking of all of you today - can you tell?
I'm off to get something done so I'm ~~~~~~~~ to you all.
Barb, on the bright side you get to enjoy a quiet non stress day with Norm, can see you sewing and saying what did I get myself intro with the batiks?? Lordy they have beautiful fabrics out there..imagine with all the fabrics you have collected you had to purchase the batiks..mystery quilt sounds like a fun thing to do..I was just getting into quilting and getting patterns at the little quilt shop in Craighurst and now she closed. Boo hoo!
Please share photo of your blocks..
Bev was having problems with computer, perhaps I'll call her tonight..don't let me forget!
Brandon's band did well coming in second,he has a good head on his shoulders and knows he doesn't habpve to be first place to be a winner..bet he was disappointed not riding today , horses can indeed be spooked and dangerous for rider and themselves.
I'm sure the young person who took his place was thrilled.
Went to take out my compressor and brad nailer, the trigger on one needs to be reset and my second one, no can find..need to repair the 2 faux windows that Ipainted inserts for so I can put back on back shed..now where oh where would it be..thought maybe I lent it to Greg but I remember buying him one..won't spend all day looking..maybe St Anthony can help??
Barb, congrats on the 2nd place for your Grandson! He must be thrilled! Where do you find these sewing places for the mystery blocks?
Betty, hope you find your tools!
Not doing much here today, just taking it easy!
St. Anthony had me call Greg, yep he borrowed it to do trim before I bought him his own..came and returned it!!!
Also asked if I was ok..had a stupid moment, remember the trigger I said needed to reset??? he shook his head and said 'mom, you know you just have to put the trigger to the wood and is works?? are you have trouble remembering?' yikes, I use it like I use my sewing machine, now why wouldn't I know that? a moment I guess..
LindaKay, nice to take it easy at times, bet your taking it easy is like mine, doing something right? not just sitting?
What a mess I made, took backings off of the window frames..now need 2 panels same size to use as backing, don't want to take out my table saw, too much dust, think I might ask Cliff across the street if he would do it one day next week then I can paint them to match color of shed and finish the 2nd painted panel for insert and voila, the upper angel sign and windows can be put back up and I'll be back to square one.
I am going back and forth sorting fabric, and playing games on the computer. Amazing how fast your fabric can get so
dis-organized!
Sure can get messy LindaKay but i bet you came up with dozens of projects just looking at the fabric..
Sure wish I'd have picked another project this morning, just came up from the basement to heat up some soup. Think it will take better part of the day to look anything like organized..
Not only me, I let 8 other women use my craftroom, some projects they work on are quite large or heavy so they leave all their pieces and supplies..sure doesn't take long for the room to be disorganized..must have near 1,000 paints, I like to keep them organized by color, just did that..no matter what you have re space still need more.
Thank you all for the lovely wishes and yummy cakes. DH and the Grandson and I had a quiet day of movies, games and Chinese food...lots of laughing and no hassles. Could not ask for better. ( I trashed them at UNO...LOL)
Judy...loved the song...especially the part about being glad I made it around the sun another time. GRIN I have always said that a good day is one where you wake up....anything good after that is just gravy....GRIN Thank you for making my day so special. HUGS
Mary, hope the vakay was all you wanted it to be.
Good thoughts to you all.
LK I do the mystery quilt through my local quilt shop. She does them once or twice a year depending on how many requests she gets. They last for 6 months and are usually Debbie McCaffrey patterns. You get a new piece of the pattern each month and at the end the pieces you have made all go together. The only stipulation is that you buy the fabrics at her shop. I also do a vacation club at the bank so when June rolls around I have some play money. That's where my fabric came from this year. I always buy just a bit more than they call for so I build a bit of stash each time. Sure was different when I was working and had a bit more money to play with but this keeps me happy for quite a while!!!! I tried to buy a pattern from her website but she only sells them in "class size lots" of 9 or more. At $9 a pattern I wasn't about to spend $81 plus. I'll try to get a picture of the four fabrics I chose....
Barb, I think having to purchase fabrics and pattern in class is the norm. Can be costly for sure, think batiques here go for $18.99 to $24.99 so a quilt would be a costly project. I understand that your cotton is going up in price as well??
Must be exciting to get a block done and wonder what the next will be. Loved your last mystery quilt.
Now the sun starts to come out now that the weekend has ended.
I paid $9.99 to $11.99 per yeard for my fabrics. We don't make blocks Betty. We only make parts of blocks. It is not until month 5 or 6 that they show us how they all go together!! Up until that, you have no clue!!!
Parts of blocks?? How interesting..
Do you do them in class? Well not knowing what to expect you wouldn't know if you were doing it right or wrong till the end. Lol
Just spent few hours on the phone..both Ann and Darlene having terrible weekend..Ann with it being her anniversary and going north for her SIL Celebration of Life/scattering of ashes and Darlene just finding it so overwhelming..heart goes out to them..
Should get up and finish cleaning the mess in my craft room..why is it when we just want to tidy we end up making a disaster area.
Jean, glad you got to enjoy your birthday..sounds as though you are a card shark!
I lost Y'all trying to catch up.....
new swap going on, could use a few more stitchers.....

Morning all, not fond of getting ready for work when the only day since Thursday its been a sunshine day! lawns sure could do with a mowing, sure miss Cathy cutting my grass but she is still off her feet because of blood clots. Feel free if you want to cut while I'm at work!!
Thunder, nice to see you post.. Took a quick look at the link, hmmm I'm in Susan's and am behind, so much on my plate but will think about the Dresden plate seeing its in September.
Guess I had better get a move on..waving to all
Those who have been MIA sending positive thoughts, hope your absence isn't due to illness
Gab later
Good morning,
Safe travels to work. Where did you find sunshine? We still have gray overcast and raindrops here....
DH's gout is getting worse. Has it in elbow now. Not been a fun weekend. Called the doctor, he said will get worse before better as
meds have to build up in his system. Now wondering if all this knee surgery & pain, and also elbow, wasn't actually gout along with the wear and tear.
Praying for a quiet day here....
Debbie
Sorry to hear Paul is suffering so, makes for NOT a happy camper!! Very well could be part of the trouble he's had all along. Now IF only he will listen to Nurse Debbie and follow proper diet he'll be all set. Other than patient problems how have you been feeling?
Well got in my head again to go buy a new vehicle, 2012 Sonic..called Barrie dealership and asked for bottom line, now waiting for Midland dealership who I always buy my cars at, Larry is to call me back at noon to let me know his price. In the meantime I asked Greg to come to the house tonight (without Kyle) to talk about Kyle having my Aveo..we'll see what that brings, sure don't want to upset Greg's household lol

Debbie - glad Paul's getting things looked after, but geeze! So much to go through......... guess he's listening to "Nurse Debbie" now, eh? I'm praying for a quiet day for you, too.....
Betty - have you decided to sell your little camper? Hope you get a good price on a Sonic and can find a home for your Aveo.......... IF daddy Greg agrees lol
Betty, those are nice looking cars, are you getting the hatchback so you have more room for plants and lumber?
Asking for prayers please? My Niece just called and said my Brother Jim is on the way to the hospital, they think he has had a stroke, he is all confused and does not know anyone's names!
I will definitely say prayers for your brother Jim, and his family.
Hopefully this was caught quickly, and can be reversed..........
Sending prayers for Jim. kb
Thoughts and prayers with you and the family Linda Kay
Thanks everyone! Just the waiting game to see what's wrong can be trying!
Thinking of you and sending my prayers for your brother.
Hugs, Barb
Adding my prayers with those who sent before me. You must be frantic sitting and waiting for update on Jim..worse part!!
Yes, 5 door hatchback! Waiting to talk to Greg tonight then will decide what to do.actually the salesman in Barrie asked for the mileage on my Aveo..told hom about doing timing belt, new rad etc and he said I'd likely get another 170kil out of it..ok then why buy another
Watch out - this is a whinergram!!
I am very grateful that my right shoulder is unfrozen. When I could not lift my right arm above the shoulder it was a source of almost constant misery. When I saw my doctor I said, "I know you usually hear this from men but, look, I can't get it up."
Let fate not misunderstand me and refreeze the arm.
BUT it still hurts - often and enough to be very difficult to deal with as it feels like bone rubbing on bone. I relaxed most of the weekend.
This is just annoying. Between waiting for a surgery date and nagging pain in my left knee and right shoulder I am feeling whinney. Sorry.
For those of you looking for some free entertainment, check out some of the Tom Dwan videos on YouTube. He's an amazing poker player. He usually has his mouth hanging open and a blank look on his face; his poker skills are incredible.
Amma will be in LA starting next Friday. If I am going I'll have to leave next Monday or Tuesday. Driving is less painful than most thinggs for my knee and sh oulder so that may make the difference in my deciding to go.
For fun reading about plants go to JLHudsonseeds.org. They have lots of unusual seeds and the catalog is great reading.
hugs, katie
Thanks everyone, his wife just called, and said he is a little more alert, but still having trouble knowing anyone or names. Still waiting on test result. They are keeping him over night for observation, and more test in the morning.
Katie, sure hope you get your surgery soon, so your pain can go away!
Katie - you need that pain GONE! Hope it eases soon........
LK - I'm sure glad they're keeping him in for observation..... he needs to be well enough to come home. How old is he?
I just had a wonderful 1st interview with an Oil & Gas company - agency sent me, and by the time I got home to call the agency, they'd already been called to ask me to come in for a 2nd interview Thursday at Noon!! First interview was with the HR Manager, and 2nd one is with the boss I'd report to! I figure, if the HR Manager is approving my hiring, the interview with the boss is to get to know me....... They gave me the company "package" to learn more about them.
He is 52.
Susan, we are all praying that you get hired for that position!
yikes, that's young............
In my opinion, when the HR Manager gives the "go ahead", the 2nd interview is just to introduce you and boss to each other.........
Make sure you dress to impress! That is what they say here when going for job interviews. So many show up in shorts, t shirts and flip flops, then wonder why they did not get the job!
Oh Katie, feeling like a whinner myself, wah/wah/wah..sorry to hear you are still n so much pain. Did Tony get the bed made yet so you can have accommodations while travelling! Wanted to ask, is gas very expensive n Mexico? Guess if you left shortly you wouldn't come back till after surgery? tony would look after the furries? You are an encourager, what I don't need is more plants.
Lindakay do the not say if you get to hospital n the early hours of a stroke likely you will not end up with a lot of damage re movement/speech ? Glad they are keeping him in, maybe this will serve as a warning and he will get meds and watch himself that it does not happen again.
Susan, let's hope you are the lucky one and start working as soon as Monday.
Hoping Greg drops in..
Ohhh booked a hotel in New Orleans today, now I have to go read reviews..there must be a lot going on because avalability at a lot was nil..
The biggest thing I think also, is not sounding smarter than the individual who is doing the hiring. Lol. Yep,
