LOL That phrase is Exactly what the agency said to me in their email to set up the 1st interview. I CERTAINLY Did "dress to impress" Black pin stripped suit, new haircut, and black pin stripped shirt with 'spensive jewellery LOL
It's for a Project Assistant position, and I would report to the gentleman who has only one person above him - the owner of the company!
I've heard it said that you should dress as if you are applying for the job of the interviewer! If President, then dress like one!!!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends
oh oh,........Betty - I told the HR Manager that I found some errors on their website...... said the COO had "Chief Operating Officers" with plural, for one man. She was thrilled I paid that much attention to detail. It's what they want.
I've always heard "Know your audience" when you're speaking/telling jokes, etc........
I apologized in advance if, on behalf of the company, she was offended - but she most certainly Was Not.
Tony got my bed finished. It's plywood with carpet covering. He was concerned that it would be too short as it goes across the back of the van but I'm shorter than he is by abou 8 inches and it's fine for me. If I feel the need to stretch out I can lie on the floor. Having the bed at the back frees up a lot of floor space.
Betty, when you described searching for tools I realized we must be soul sisters. When I search for the tools and materials for Tony to do a job I know I am contributing, maybe not half the work, but it can save hours of searching for some elusive tool after the job has been started. I hate that.
If I throw all the dirty laundry in the big outdoor basket maybe I can get started doing it tomorrow before I am fully awake.
hugs, katie

y'mean too awake to realize you really don't want to do it? lol
Jims wife just called, he did have a TIA, small stroke, so they will keep at least over night! Still more test to come, I am sure!
Katie, glad to hear the bed is done! Will you place foam rubber for comfort?
Omg I just read that Joyce will be coming to the gathering, hitching a ride with Janice and Stacey, oh oh. Hacking up a storm, so excited can't breath. Lol. Better I calm down..
Will be so funny if this cough remains , I'll be ok as long as I don't talk..will have to get a tablet and type everything rather than speak...lol
LindaKay, thank God they got Jim there in time..no such think as small 'stroke'..how old is he?
Susan..don't get me wrong, but maybe you shouldn't show how smart you are, I know you might think its a plus and they said they appreciated it but...............
Guess you know best!
You have me laughing (silently) Katie..I remember my step mother said she couldn't go for a boat ride because she had dishes to do..my dad went in the closet, got a sheet, put the dishes in the sheet, tied to boat and said they would do both, go for a ride and wash dishes..needless to say big hole in sheet and no dishes left. Lol. Maybe you could find someone near the water and ask them to do same with your clothes.
I'm not 5' so it would be p,entry tall enough for me. Lol
If Greg doesn't come soon I'll have medicated myself and will be sleeping..guess I best try to stay awake..tired from doing nothing all weekend and today
Betty, my Brother is 52.
Have you tried the throat spray called Chloraseptic? It numbs your throat for bit. They have it in tablet for also.
Have in tablet form, numbs lips/throat .. Tell you, if I keep my mouth SHUT I don't cough as much ..gathering still 3 weeks away, surely I will NOT still have it..
A young man Jim is..Does he live nearby?
Going through my telephone book, can't find Bev's number..know it should be somewhere here

Linda Kay, hope all turns out well for your brother. Good thoughts and prayers for your family.
Susan...good luck to you. Be yourself, you've done this before...be confident that you can again. HUGS to you.
Katie, continued good thoughts to you. Hope you get to see your friend soon and safely.
Big wave to everyone.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers for your DB LK. He is a very young man. I hope he will have an excellent rehab programme and instructor.
Holly wowzers, there is a cat out front that I swear is almost the size of Sailor, never saw a cat so big, infact I had to get up, go out on front deck and check it out!
Waving Dianne..hope your weather was better than mine today..sunshine early this morning and drizzle for the rest of the day! Did you hear that Interpol caught that lunatic today..wonder how soon they will get him back in Canada..sure didn't take them long!
How did you make out with the closet cleaning?
Ladies - re: job interviews - I can only be myself....... and if that's an unemployed me, then they don't deserve me, and I wouldn't last in the job anyway. Reason I was so upfront about it, is that she basically told me that's what the boss is like....... he only reports to one person also - the owner of the company. He's a very intense worker, and expects the best from everyone because that's what he expects from himself. I think we should make a very good team, he & I.
You got to wonder where all the posts that are in cyberspace go??
Know I posted..try again
Dianne, hope you had better weather than we did today..misty all day, no grass cutting and much the same expected for next 2 or 3 days. See Interpol arrested that lunatic, wonder how many years it will take to get him back into Canada to pay for his crime?
How did you make out with closet cleaning? Did you end up putting it all back in, just tidier or did you purge ? Takes a lot of energy this house cleaning.
Must give mine a good going over before the gang arrives at the end of the month..am sure Debbie and Judy will be looking for dust bunnies under the beds..them and their pets
Lol
Jean, what did you get up to today?
Mary, can't wait for you to rest two you can tell us all about your adventure
Betty, did you get a picture of that cat?
My brother is Colorado.
Thanks for all the prayers.
Camera was downstairs...will have to make sure I keep it here beside me just incase it returns.poor Sailor, just had one of her attacks..drats
Quit a distance from you LindaKay, do you see him often?
I rather hope that cat comes back, and you get a picture, Betty - maybe a cougar?
LK - Prayers for Jim - hoping he got help quickly...
Susan - Prayers for you to get this job ! Katie - hoping you get everything done before your trip...
I'm barely hanging on... catching up
Betty - I think that aveo for Kyle is awesome.... what a great surprise...
You had BETTER tell me where/when you are staying in New Orleans !
I could toss a kid/teen out of their bed here and have a room for you Missy !
so that's an option as well....
OMG... the trip was tremendous... not without melt downs....but just fabulous !
((HUGS))
still uploading pictures...
Mary
((((Mary)))))) Welcome home!
I wish it was closer to visit, but it is a two day drive, one way.
Mary, can't wait to see your pictures!
Morning all, mix of sun and cloud, maybe rain later today, hope it's late/late so I can get grass cut!
Greg spoke to Kyle re my Aveo, not sure Kyle wants it so I'll give him the week decide if I'm trading it in.
Just called the doctor, had such a bad night hacking and again this morning that I said absolutely need some kind of med, just can't take much more (know I'd have to if I had to)..he is not in until 2:00 so she'll call me back to see if I have to go in or if he'll just provide me with a prescription.
Mary, sorry gal, our schedule in New Orleans is August 1st and August 2nd..booked Place D'Armes Hotel not from from Bourbon st. and French Quarter..not sure where we shall be July 31 st??? shucks, say a ghost, young girl knocks at doors looking for her grandmother..now wouldn't that be something lol
Long drive for sure LindaKay..know your heart will be with us!
So Betty - you and Mary won't be able to meet?!?!? That would be a shame.............
Another hot and humid day here but I got up early and got some of the laundry done. Also a few other chores.
I think my decision to go see Amma in LA lhas energized me. I was feeling sad about not seeing her. She visits here from India twice a year and I usually manage to see her at least once. In LA I'll hve five days with her. You can read about her at www.amma.org. I met her on her second trip to the US which was about twenty five years ago. There were only a couple hundred people ther then. Times have changed and the crowds are in the thousands now. But they are in the millions in India so I don't complain (too much).
Told Tony all my friends want a Tony and say when you are through with him send him to me but I have to tell them I will never be through with him. He laughed and was clearly flattered. I think I'm the first person he has worked for who tells him often how good his work is. Makes us both feel good.
Laundry is calling. The wringer washer must be tended. But I work under the flame tree and I can admire my spearmint which I finally got to grow here and my wisteria which is also rare here; it hasn't bloomed yet but it's still young.
hugs, katie
Not sure, maybe the day before we are in New Orleans, on out way from Memphis just might be able to make it work..not sure, but sure going to try..know she is going to family reunion on the weekend, forget the exact dates..
laundry calling "Oh Kaaaaaaaaaa-atie!!!"" lol how lovely to have such surroundings to do your laundry! I used to have a wringer washer.
Super good that you have spearmint and wisteria growing in a place where it's "not supposed to" Would love to see pictures of your wisteria when it blooms. I understand they take about 4 years or so to mature enough to bloom....
Betty - you're going to be there Aug 1/2, which is Wed/Thurs? I want everyone on here to meet everyone else....
Wouldn't a world-wide RU be fabulous? all the way from FL too....... with the originators of this site!!!
My favorite thing Katie when I was young was to help grandma do the washing using wringer..must tell you a story, I was in about grade 4 when I cam home to find that her arm had gone through wringer and was cut about 6" or so, blood everywhere, there the old gal sat with needle in hand sewing it up..when it healed her doctor said he could of not done a better job..what a high tollerance she had to pain. quite a lady she was!
Going to check out the site..so glad you have made the decision to spend time with Amma..when will you leaave..
Tell Tony, we all share here, equal time so pack his bags..
waiving hello and good morning!
Linda Kay, got your brother in my prayers.
Oh my goodness, so glad he got to hosp...early. What a scare and so young to have a stroke!
Going to the Library later today, so maybe I can make a proper post...
Day full of running...Woopie only two more days of school, a couple of weeks then start of football camp!
Waving Judy..
Got a call from Dr.'s office, I have to go for chest xray's tomorrow morning and pick up NARCOTICS (no driving once taken-highly addictive, Debbie his nurse said no crafts either and likely will sleep better part of the day) yikes, me who hates taking meds. She said a day of nothing will at least see how the body will react to them
oh happy days
Glad to hear you are finally getting some meds, that will help! About time!
Katie, My Grandmother used to have a wringer machine also, and way back then, they did not wear the proper under garments. Well, she leaned over to pick up another towel, and got her breast caught in the wringer. Everyone came running when they heard her scream! Grandpa unplugged the machine, and then they had to reverse the wringer, and get her released. She was not a happy camper!
Think I will thank my lucky stars that the automatic washer is only a button to switch.. can't imagine what trouble I'd get into using such a contraption lol

Reminds me of one of John Mitchell's most famous lines, threatening the owner of The Washington Post. I think he was finally convicted of multiple felonies,
We had a wringer washer when I grew up and I was raised on being super cautious. It is one chore I can usually manage without help though Tony also grew up with one so he can and will help me if I ask. Usually he just gets to fix it when I dislodge the wringers.
Betty, I get shivers reading the story about your grandmother. And Linda's. I'm sure my mom knew people to whom things like that had happened.
I'm still doing laundry. I down to the quilts that go in the camper so the end is in sight. Tony helped me make my double bed as it's ahrd for me to reach the far corners with my still-not-all-better arm.
kb
If you ask me Katie, you are mighty energetic..not sure I could keep up to you!
Just called my house, seems all the girls had their lunch outside by the pond..said there is a zillion tadpoles, I need to empty so I can fix the until that creates the spill overflow..hmm now what? Maybe they will be frogs by the time the weekend comes..do you think?
Frogs keep the skeeters down!
http://allaboutfrogs.org/weird/general/cycle.html
It may be awhile before they are frogs!
Shortly after hatching, the tadpole still feeds on the remaining yolk, which is actually in its gut! The tadpole at this point consists of poorly developed gills, a mouth, and a tail. It's really fragile at this point. They usually will stick themselves to floating weeds or grasses in the water using little sticky organs between its' mouth and belly area. Then, 7 to 10 days after the tadpole has hatched, it will begin to swim around and feed on algae.
After about 4 weeks, the gills start getting grown over by skin, until they eventually disappear. The tadpoles get teeny tiny teeth which help them grate food turning it into soupy oxygenated particles. They have long coiled guts that help them digest as much nutrients from their meadger diets as possible.
By the fourth week, tadpoles can actually be fairly social creatures. Some even interact and school like fish!
Tadpole with legs
After about 6 to 9 weeks, little tiny legs start to sprout. The head becomes more distinct and the body elongates. By now the diet may grow to include larger items like dead insects and even plants.
The arms will begin to bulge where they will eventually pop out, elbow first.
After about 9 weeks, the tadpole looks more like a teeny frog with a really long tail. It is now well on it's way to being almost fullgrown!
Young Frog, or Froglet
By 12 weeks, the tadpole has only a teeny tail stub and looks like a miniature version of the adult frog. Soon, it will leave the water, only to return again to laymore eggs and start the process all over again!
o my Betty - your poor g'ma to have her arm cut by the washer like that - high pain threshold, INDEED!
LK - she must have been Very bruised by getting caught like that - OUCH!! I can imagine she wouldn't be a "happy camper"........ Good thing someone was around to help her out....
Betty - are you going to be our new "supplier" now that you have Narcotics? ROFL Let us know what the x-rays tell the Dr......
I'm just pleased you're going to rest and be able to see what the meds do.... I gather you'll start taking them After you get home from picking them up. Sure that Jeff and Greg will do any running around you need You're so blessed with your "boys" being in town where they can help - that, and your friends and neighbours!
Katie - you're so lucky to have Tony around. Nice that you tell him as obviously others don't as much........
Thanks LindaKay, will have to figure out how to get into the pond, fix what needs fixing without emptying..rather do that than have skitters...anyway, I can always use a swamp bath..have to get into the bigger pond as I want to try a different water spray..hm wonder if I can con the grandchildren??? doubtful lol
Linda Kay, I think the inventor of the Mammogram must have been inspired by the wringer washer.....(lol)
LOL!
OMG Jean, no doubt it was..you are too funny!
Betty - what's your Skype name? Seems I can't add you without it?!?! I tried just putting in your name & email addy, but it's not "adding", so I presume it needs your Skype name.......
Betty, I need an email for you please?
