it's a rainy day in my neck of the woods and same for all weekend! Guess I will be playing indoors..could rain for a month and i would have enough projects to keep me busy!

The boys were watching a movie last night, Greg fell asleep on the chesterfield and Jeff went to bed not waking him...so had my 2 boys under my roof last night..wonderful!

Jeff organized all his equipment, talk about a Mr. Gadget, you name it he has it, told him he had everything except the kitchen sink..too funny, out comes his kitchen sink lol

This mornimg he is pacing, said its the first time in 10 years weatherman has been 100% right.

lord hates a coward he said, so up he goes ready to start his trek in rain and wind..he's prepared for all.

What are you all up to?? Anything exciting??

Goal 1 of the day ..sew 2 or 3 outdoor pillows, that is about as exciting as I will get..

Maybe after work fo in to see uncle Allan.

Good Morning!
wow - I'm FIRST?!?!?!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is what you get when you become a working woman, up at the crack of dawn!

Verona, ON

Morning everyone!! Same weather forecast for me Betty. Did you see Kevin outside in the rain with his lovely umbrella this morning? My goodness that man can make me laugh!

Going to dig out the laundry room this morning. I think I should have ordered a dumpbin - you can tell things have been let go for 3 years. Things are neat and on shelves but my goodness how did I accumulate such a load of stuff.

This has been a rough week for me ...... I thought it was supposed to get easier as the days go by - not happening that way for me.

Have an email in to a lady who runs an Exercise class for Seniors only. I will be the youngest at 62 but the oldest is over 90. The instructors work as a team and they consist of a Nurse. a lady with a MPHd and a physitherapist. There is time set aside for a whole class doing cardio and stretches and then the instructors devise and help you implement their plan for you. Having both RA and OA plus knee repacements I am so looking forward to starting - sure hope there isn't a wait list for the class.

Oh lordy I need coffee - I'm slipping, I have not even made some yet... Booo ,shame on me!

Mary I so hope you didn't get some of the horrid Fla weather the WLs were talking about.Did you all survive a week together with few or no mishaps?

Has anyone heard from Laura? I miss her posting.

Off I go to make that coffee my mouth is craving.
Dianne

Morning everyone!
Betty are you working today? Did you see your Dr.?
Dianne, I think we are all pack rats, we have 2 storage sheds outside filled, and now our extra bedroom is beginning to fill up! I need to purge and get rid of some crap too! Maybe we can have a community yard sale?

Verona, ON

Wouldn't that be great if we could LK?!!?

Thea sweet lady where are you? Miss ya posting.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, you will struggle to get through days and think you are making headway, might even laugh a time or two then something small, a word, an article our loved ones might of enjoyed using and the pain is right back with us..it NEVER truly gets better but we do get to enjoy the things in life, we just learn how to deal with it!! Aren't I a bundle of cheer..

Yes, same weather..still in my Jammie's. Jeff is laying on the couch and we are watching 'the help'. No sewing today I guess..time enough for that when I'm alone.

When I moved here about 7 years ago gals, I had nothing, basically only my clothes and photo's and like you have managed to fill every nook and cranny.. We truly are rat packes aren't we!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Forgot to say Dianne, I think you just might enjoy the program..getting out however hard helps in the healing and besides..will help get you fit.

It's just 8:20 am and I'm worn out I helped tony unload about two-thirds of the lumger. Between my bad knee and my still-recovering arm I gave up after we got the two sheets of plywood out of the van. I did help some but I get frustrated with my limited abilities. Tony appreciates that I do what I can and don't just stand around and point. We have a running joke about that. He used to work for a man named Eddie and one day Tony said to me, "For Eddie, all work is easy. All he does is point." I have my days when my w"work" consists of pointing but we always joke about it.

tony and I have also talked about the skill required to be a good assistant. I think about that as I read about Susan's job interviews. Sounds like you have some good skills there and have worked with some people who appreciate that. Some of the best compliments I'vw received have come from people I was assisting as they realized I didn't need to have my "hand held" and might even anticipate what they needed. I don't know what the "big event" is but it sounds like an exciting opportunity.

After our trip to Santa Rosalia yesterday I napped all afternoon, then slept all night. I'm still kind of worn oout but happy we have all the supplies we need for a while. Now all I need is the energy to use some of them.

My arm is much better and I feel I shouldn't complain BUT there is still a lot of soreness from muscles that didn't get used while it was frozen and I want to be all better NOW. Nothing impatient about me. ha.

hugs, katie

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Susan...congratulations on finally having folks appreciate what you have to offer. That event wouldn't have something to do with your Cubits "tag line". would it? I mean, that has been the Calgary claim to fame for a really long time...grin

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I just got off the phone with Thea. She asked me to write you and let you know how sorry she is that she can't post right now. This vertigo thing has been really raising hell with her. She is under the doctor's care and is improving but I guess it will take time. She has trouble trying to read the computer screen which is why we haven't heard from her. She sounds good and her family is giving her all kinds of support. She is very fortunate that way. She has just this past week or so been trying to do some sewing again. She is doing some hand work which is great therapy for her. The sewing machine would be a bit daunting as you don't have the control you need with a vision problem. I guess even now if she moves too fast, the room will spin. Her daughter and Bernie give her treatments every day and, although slow, it seems to be working. Please keep her in your thoughts prayers and she said she will post as soon as the screen stops spinning!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update Barb! Sending lots of prayers her way!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good thoughts and prayers for Thea and also...mention was made here for prayers for Marti, soon to undergo surgery for cancer. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and also , her sister LaVonne (Dorothy), is in hospital with a serious fungal infection in her lungs/blood. Good thoughts and prayers for them all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, thanks for posting about Thea..she is included in my prayers as are all in need of prayers..what a horrible feeling not being in control and world swirling around you. Glad she has someone with her..would imagine not a lot of meds, just letting it run it's course??

Marti sure has her hand full Jean..worried about herself and now her sister!

Don't push yourself Katie, seems to me like your body is telling you to rest and so NO energy..enjoy the good weather..Rome wasn't built in a day! So they say..Those sheets of plywood are heavy.

Well Jeff did not go out today in the kayak seeing its still pouring rain and high winds. Took out container of spaghetti sauce out of the freezer, will make an easy supper. Jeff just left, gone to check out prices of kayak's , seems Julie is considering having one of her own..so here I am, still in nighty, fireplace on the warm me, drats it's cold..damp

Should take advantage of the time Jeff is out and make some cushions!

Verona, ON

I too have the wood stove ons. Rain cats and dogs!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Time to cozy up with the furries Dianne! Old bones sure do ache in this damp/rain.

mulege, Mexico

Also in the heat!! I think you're right Betty, I need a day or two of rest. Tony will probably not be here tomorrow; he has to brand the calves at his parents' rancho.

I have a huge pile of seaweed. My friend Rafael brings it to me for $20 a truckload. He's also brought some palm logs. I'm gradually speading the seaweed around so it will dry some and be easier to put through the shredder. It is such great fertilizer that it's hard to limit the amount but even at that price it does add up.

I need to start dinner for the furries.

hugs, katie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wish we were closer to water to get sea weed!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Seaweed, do you mean what washes up on shore??? Beats buying artificial fertilizer..

omg the trees are bending in half from the rain and wind..Jeff has given up at least for today, now having a nap while mom sits and watches movies..I sure did mellow out today!!!

Did manage to go to WalMart thought, bought several different types of cough medicine, one for dry cough, one for flem, 3 different types of cough candies, let's hope some of it helps.

Lyndonville, NY

Bessie Lou....cough meds can mess with your blood pressure and meds. Be careful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can't take the hacking..don't think Jeff thought I was as bad as I am..next going to hit the bottle. Lol

How did you make out today Debbie? Everyone doing better?

Jeff must have looked at his weather station monitor at least 200 times today..he sooo wanted to go out. Now he is trying to decide if he will pack up his stuff and head home, or, wait till early morning and see what the day will bring

Dianne, did you see the news..Toronto Union Station evacuated due to flooding? Lots of people stranded..worried about going downstairs in the a.m. Incase I'm flooded out! Are you on high ground?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure hope the weather clears up so you don't get flooded Betty! And for Jeff to go on his trip.

Lyndonville, NY

Things were a bit overwhelming today. Think if I drank water and ran around the yard, I would be my own sprinkler system....so full of poke holes.

Took 8 vials of blood doing all kinds of testing. Now that is all behind me, and we wait. Oh joy.

Lyndonville, NY

Can you drink alcohol? I was going to suggest....brandy & honey warmed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't know if I can Debbie, but this will lead me to drinking I'm sure.

LindaKay, Jeff is packing up his gear, heading home tonight..said he was very disappointed not to get to try his new toy but got to spend day with mom.

Debbie, what were yo being tested for? Now don't you get sick girl, I'd be so disappointed if you couldn't make it ..

Verona, ON

Yep saw CITY news at 6pm. Whowzers that was some surprise for the commuters. Can you imagine the bedlam that broke out??

Horrid rain and winds here today too.

Who has the roll of bubble wrap to forward on to me? I managed to tumble off of the ladder while washing the upper walls in the laundry room.I saw stars, blackness then heard a thump when my body finally hit the floor. Sure missed Stormy when that happened. I taught Stormy````to position himself when he was a pup how to stand so I could use him to pull myself up. That was before I had my knee replacements.Quill the sweet girl that she is just wanted to lick my tears way. Appears nothing is broken so will just have an addition to my array of bruises. Debbie is it you who as the bubble wrap?

Jeff thinking about starting out in the am? Our rain is to continue for the next 2 days.Maybe by then I will be ready to be the garden gal I usually am.

Mary home tonight or is it tomorrow? Wonder how things went???

Oh Thea you poor soul! I have never had vertigo nor do I ever want it from what I hear from a couple the doc.Would you be able to go if the Ortho doc conjured up an appointment for you? Maybe you need a visit my friend , what do you think?

Off to apply Voltaren to my hurtin' parts. Think I might try to go to bed early tonight .... around midnight.

Thunder I am so glad to read that your DH is still going in for treatments.

Sweet dreams everyone. Shutting down early since the sky is full of T and L.

Lyndonville, NY

OH Dianne! dang you for climbing! thirty lashes woman!

Betty, I had to be retested for the nerve damage to see how things are doing. This was a new doctor doing the test from last....wasn't very happy with all of it.
BUT will wait for results.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, omg you could have hurt yourself badly!! You will surely have some aches and pains come morning. Stormy I bet doesn't leave your side.

Jeff just left for the city..think I'm just as worried about him on the road in this weather as I was him being on his own kayaking! The giant trees that provide shade on the front will be lucky if they have leaves on them in the morning..they are swaying /bending almost in Hal's..let's hope they are still standing come morning..yikes this is hurricane weather!

Darlene called, she was flooded out today, felt so bad for her..these things are so overwhelming when on your own.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Let's hope the results show some improvement Debbie..must be so frustrating.
Is Paul's gout any better.

Lyndonville, NY

He just started the medicine for the gout yesterday. He had started weaning off the pain killers....but the gout flared up. SO he is on both.

So tired tonight, Paul went to bed at 9:00.

Betty, Dianne lost Stormy last week. He was in very bad shape, so he went with Warren.

mulege, Mexico

Dianne, you have had two big losses recently. You are vulnerable. You MUST take extra care of yourself. This is not a time to be undertaking potentially dangerous chores, especially while alone.

Sure wish I could clone Tony and send one of him to each of you. I regularly reach to him for support - literally. And we bug each other on safety issues,

Today neither of us could remember what day is was. I think that means we're both enjoying our llives just as they are. We both found it very funny.

Went to town and got a gallon of fresh orange juice. Not very hungry in this hot weather but the juice is perfect. My friend Manuel makes it with the juicer I gave him for Christmas.

katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Apologies, meant to say Quill but Stormy was on my mind..had a Stormy, was a Heinz 28,had to put him down about ten years ago..guess with Sailor on the brink of having to be laid down Stormy was on my mind! sailor was just grasping for air, has spats then does ok but they are getting closer/closer between spells..just asked her what she would like me to do..wish she could answer!

Dianne, hugs coming your way and hope that you are no worse for the fall this morning.

Overcast, damp and wind..would have liked to have cut the grass today but not likely. Did wake early this morning, got 6 cushions done..I'm glad I cover the pillow forms with plastic so they don't get ruined and can be used each time I want a change..ran out of pillow forms though, have enough outdoor material to sew maybe 2 or 3 more...seeing I have some filler I can look for scrap fabric and make a few..weather as is might as well be sewing!

Guess had Jeff stayed he could have gone kayaking but likely be chilled to the bone.

Debbie, are you suppose to stay off your feet when you have gout..other than meds what can you do?

Laura, please drop in, we need to know you and family are ok

Guess Mary will be either home or heading home today!

Katie, wish I had a Tony as well..I've only got a few things to do on main level then can start in the basement, hiring here is mega $$$ IF you can find a handyman..so much construction just none to be found!

Well, time to tidy up, did nothing yesterday but sit and enjoy Jeff's company.

Is it nice in your neighborhood?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Not much can be done about gout. Todd has it, and at times it can be quite painfull. He is supposed to avoid red meat and alcohol, as that makes the Uric acid worse, which causes the gout.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, and does Todd try to stay off red meat..rather difficult wouldn't it be?

Do you have gardening weather Today LindaKay? How is the knees/hip..are you in a lot od pain? Just put chicken soup on, Jeff had bough 2 pkgs of boneless chicken for his travels and left in in the refrigerator , as they say soup it is good for the soul and what ails you i thought why not?? so I'll share with you all!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

He tries, but it is hard sometimes!
Weather is not too bad right now. 75 degree's with 71% humidity. Supposed to be 95 today!
Dianne, so sorry to hear you fell yesterday! Sure hope your not too sore this morning!

Bettty, go to the sewing forums, there is a sign up for a heart block as well as a dresden plate...
