Oh My, I do hope all is well with Sailor....and Betty's Mom and MIL. Good thoughts to you Betty....

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505245_162-57442698/radioactive-bluefin-tuna-crossed-the-pacific-to-us/

Please be careful of the fresh tuna you consume. It is radio active. Especially on the west coast!

Lyndonville, NY

Linda, there was a BIG show on that....and I watched it last night. There is not enough in it to do any damage at all, you get more radioactive input from the suns rays than the amount of tuna you would need to eat to do damage. BUT sure is a scary thought of all the damage done to this world.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Judy - kick your computer (reboot?! lol) and it should start behaving LOL Glad you had a good rest!

I phoned Betty and left a VM, letting her know we worry about her, and asking about Sailor...... hope they're both ok...

LK - thanks for the warning! I don't usually eat tuna, but have been thinking about it recently, and the West Coast cans is what I would get - I don't buy fresh.

First day at work went well, then after work got a request to do a phone interview tomorrow at noon, from agency I tested at online yesterday afternoon. She has a position she'd like to put me "forward" for - Executive Assistant. Just wants to find out if it's a good "fit" for me and the company. She knows I'm on assignment, so I'm a "special case" and she won't be able to meet in person.

Good morning back to you Miss Bessie. Glad to hear all is okay...
I'm on the run again today. What with rehab and all, it cuts into my sewing time so I'm combining sewing with laundry today. Norm is off to Maine for three days so it's just his sister and I here at the house. We must see what kind of trouble we can get into while he is gone!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dunno, she had a full cat scan, nothing seems to be broken or anything...So today I running her to a Doc appointment and hopefully squeeze her into eye doc. mulege, Mexico

Good morning everyone,

Betty, glad to see you post. Like others, I worry when you don't.

I'm not awake yet but Tony is here so I am at least out of bed.

Still nice and cool this morning. That will change in a couple of hours. When our real heat and humidity set in it will be different. I am getting better at handling weather that makes you feel like you need gills. Even the natives go into survival mode.

Time for my meds.

hugs, katie

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Awww..good thoughts and hugs to your MIL Judy....slow down a bit girl...ya don't even know what day it is.....reprieve...it is only Wednesday.....grin ya still have lots of "work" week left. I was drumming down the moon also. Call anytime Hon....ya know me if I can't talk....DH will let ya know...LOL

Hope everyone has a lovely day...be safe

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

All's well when Betty posts.
Judy, you don't get a break at all! Thank God, Steve's mum can rely on you. Take a deep breath, sistah, like LK said, it's Wednesday today.

mulege, Mexico

We needed a sheet of plywood for my bed. Tony was going to buy it here in town yesterday - until he found out it would cost almost $70!! So tomorrow we are going to Santa Rosalia to buy from the lumberyard we usually buy from. Neither of us really likes going to Santa Rosalia - It's 35 miles each way and pretty much eats up the day but $70 for a sheet of plywood is not acceptable. We both made up our lists of all the lumber we need for different projects and other supplies like concrete sealer which Tony could not even find here in town.

Life in small town Mexico can be very pleasant and quiet, but shopping is often difficult.

Weather is heating up so a couple hours of driving will be a break.

Meanwhile, the pots for the front border of the new garden are almost done. It's too hot to work out there for more than a few minutes. However, even getting one pot in is one less to do later. Thank goodneses for marigolds. They seem to like it out there and now they are making lots of seeds.

I must get back to work on curtains for the craft shelves.

What's with all the accidents with Mothers and MIL"s? People might think we are beating them up.
hugs, katie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Wow Judy!!! I sure hope your MIL is okay. That sounds liek a nasty fall.
And how is your Mom doing Betty and your MIL too??? Must admit I wish I stil had one of each!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crazy crazy week, world filled with company which I love, girls have me making plan a, plan b, plan c for end of July trip which involves travel times, sleep destinations and budgets, quite an undertaking..haven't been out in gardens last few days, early to bed its been.

Sorry to hear about your MIL Judy, sure hope she doesn't have any permanent damage..not good!

Katie that is a lot of $$$ for a sheet of plywood but when you consider gas to go not town, cost of plywood and time are you saving much? Guess you are picking up other things so that makes a savings

Susan, you enjoy your day at work, bet you will be tired tonight! Hope Bob cooked you supper.

Barb, bet you do miss the mom's...grandma raised me and I think of her so often..did you enjoy your day with SIL

Waving Jaye, how are your gardens, are they overwhelming you n this heat!

Jean, photo's of your gardens please..felt better when you said likely Mary and family could still enjoy their Disney trip.

As for mom, still cannot get out of bed, Lordy it's been over 3 weeks..fractured cheekbone, punctured sinus to go with broken arm and nose besides other aches/pains..will take quite a bit for sure to heal now that is if she doesn't do something stupid again.

Waiting for Greg to deliver my new weeder, small, too hard on shoulders..am sure he will go on that it's a waste of $$$, not strong enough..thats ok, he needs to keep mom in line.

Normally he and family go away on the Canada Day weekend but not this year, so gang will meet them.

Waving to all, want to make cushions for back garden tonight so I can cross it off m to do list..have a feeling bed will call before the sewing machine!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

poor Moms and MILs!! Betty - 3 weeks and still not healed that well?!? I didn't realize it had been that long.......
Judy - yikes, did the bus jolt that she fell Up the stairs getting on?

My 2nd day at my job assignment went even better - they consider me fully trained (actually "hit the ground running" as they say) as opposed to the last trainee taking 2 weeks and still "didn't get it". Today I had a phone interview at noon, then left work early to do a 3:45 interview with yet another company. Both were for EA positions. The 3:45 one was downtown, so I drove home (1/2 way between work & interview) and then Bob "chauffeured" me to the interview and took the car home - and I got the bus home afterwards. Cheaper that way as parking $ is astronomical! I will find out tomorrow if I got the 2nd one, at 8:30 am. The bad part is, they want someone to start work on Friday, and I just started this assignment..........still have 2 weeks. Hate to have them train person #4 within 1 month...... and hate to give such short notice.
The noon hour interview is not only NOT downtown, which I like, but they would allow notice at my current position.
BUT the 3:45 one would be more prestigious and pay more.....
Well, I'll just have to wait and see what happens........ no point "counting chickens before they're hatched"..........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sun coming up but how do you go from a/c and summer clothing to looking for winter clothing and turning on heat?? Brrr

Dianne, you've been in my thoughts this morning, sending prayers and hugs. Have you been able to be out in the gardens? Do you have black flies and skitters?? Not a lot of either here but Ann who is prone to bad bites and lives more in heavy tree'd area is having difficulties.

Susan, sounds as though you may have some hard decisions to make...either nothing or all. Lol

Watching Missy at front window, she's sitting as though to attack, sees birds outside on tree limb and am sure she is thinking breakfast!

So very quiet at work, not sure why they need me, almost embarrassed to take my paycheck today. That being said I think of the flowers I want to purchase for the planters on my way home and think 'oh goodie it's payday'. Lol

Just put together some pants and will bring the old garden sign to work..past few years hasn't been kind to it..am sure with freshening it up it can be hung again.
Looked at Fabricland flyer, have outdoor fabric on sale 40% off..need to replace covering for 4 pillows, might be a good time to get the fabric and if it rains all weekend as the weatherman says I will have indoor projects to do!

As I checked things out yesterday, there are a few wood pieces that have to be repaired..red side table for set near back planters shed, reprinting of potting unit, put the pieces I cut for back deck bench together ..about an hours work and it's been sitting there since last year..just maybe I'll have a day of rain and a day of sunshine and get these projects done..

Always something..am sure you all have similar projects waiting to be done!

Maybe I'll go walk the gardens and see what is blooming
Great way to start the day

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - and a Round Robin center to make......... LOL (couldn't resist!!!! I'm soooooo bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
Glad to see your back with us Betty! How cold is it up there? it is already 75 at 8:00am.

Susan, it sure seams like when it rains it pours for you! I know you and Bob will make the right decision for a job!

Victoria Harbour, ON

52 here LindaKay, after having high 70's and 80's it feels so much cooler.

Thinking of going down the street for a few minutes to get some outdoor fabric that way I'll be stocked up withprojects..

usually work from home Fridays' and it's calling for high of 57 on our first day of June with showers all day..no cutting grass I guess

Entertaining myself with supply 'lists' ..not for anything special just to keep ontop of things..odds/sods that need upgrading or repair..seems all of a sudden they become overwhelming.

need 3 or 4 bags of cement, can you guess for what???

Lyndonville, NY

Bessie Lou......Guess what I got in the mail????

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like your going to make more cement leaves?

What did you get Debbie?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Doing happy dance, bet now you can cross Canadian border..how come Paul had his already???
Are you excited..I visit with you so often and now I get to enjoy a visit from you.

LindaKay, no to the thubbarb leaves

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!! oooh, I know, I know!!

Updated license...
Yep more leaves..

Oh gosh, it's raining, it's pouring...my fingers are freezing.

Well, MIL is going to be ok, Thank God she did not break anything, or worse.
She was attempting to board the bus and somehow her sandal stuck and down she went head first.
She banged top of her her head into the bus, was knocked aback, somehow hit her head again...
So the bruising took place between the bone and skin!! With no where to go it drained down into her face.
Thus Swelling and so badly bruised she makes Rocky look like a walk in the park!! All the draining took place while she slept, so shaken at the sight caused her to believe her eyeball was missing!! Poor thing, I've never seen her so distraught.

Eye doc said her eye ball looks great, white, no signs of any harm...but wants to see her again on Monday, when hopefully some swelling will have gone down.
Was shaking my head, she does not stay focused on one thing...trying to do simple things while doing others and always seems to rush at it. example, pouring her juice, overflowed, look for paper towels and micro her breakfast...All this a talk about 20 different things at once. It's a wonder we got to appointment on time!
Then trying to get off at the wrong floor, spinning on her heals to re-enter elevator, thought for sure she was going down again...AND, She has a cane, that she mostly Carries instead of walking with it...I feel most certain her Sister is watching over her sometimes...heavy sigh!

So I hope you are staying warm, getting things accomplished right here at home for a change...
Yippy going to do some sewing since it's raining.

OK, have to go collect Jake for lunch...
see you later.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, Steve's mom sounds soooo like mine, we should compare notes.

Mine wasn't doing well this morning..in talking to her she relayed how she picked up the dog (imagine this) DOG called Rocky DID NOT WANT TO BE CARRIED, she is smothering him to death, anyway she came down 2 steps and the dog jumped, she tripped and voila she also is a rocky..good description Judy.

Glad you MIL is ok! Maybe it will scare her as it did my mom and she will be more cautious. She lives alone right!

Don't send me your rain Judy..nope, still a few gardens to finish this weekend.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Seems your MIL has ADD, Judy.. or force of habit of not being able to concentrate on one thing at a time? Good to read, nothing serious.

Betty, hope it's just a bruised ego for your mother. Stairs at any age, can be dangerous.

mulege, Mexico

We are back from Santa Rosalia with an ambulance full of wood. The plywood was $20 cheaper and we got two sheets plus enough lumber to redo the shaded areas to the east of the house. They were built five years ago with salvaged lumber and had termites. We can also finish some shelves. Also found two gallons of sealer for concrete. Spent a bunch of money but we are now good to go on several projects which have been stalled. And we had a nice drive in the country.

I'm ready for a nap.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back from Garden Gallery, somebody should have told me NOT to go..lol

Car full of plants for topsey/turvey plant holders, baskets that hand from back bedroom deck (need those to look pretty for whoever gets that room) Still need 6 large hanging baskets but won't get them until weekend, no room in car.

Jaye, mom did injure herself, broken right arm, broken nose, fractured cheekbone, punctured sinus, seeing the plastic surgeon on Wednesday..silly old lady!

Sounds as though you have your work cut out for not only you Katie but Tony as well..made the trip worthwhile..think we both should put each other on a budget!

I still have 3 stops before I get home, hide my bank card please

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Betty, sorry to read that about your mum's injuries. Is she getting some help getting to the doctors? Oh dear, I can imagine the strength of her prescribed pain killers!
Just cut that card in half, Betty!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, they have her at all the necessary doctors!!! She is stubborn, hmmm now I know where I get it from lol

Don't use credit cards Jaye, all on my bankcard so cannot cut it, it's how I survive paying bills and of course getting lovelies from the nursery.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Likewise Betty. Credit cards are too tempting!
I won't admit to being stubborn.. I just have independant thoughts!! Lol!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can't wait to see your new pretty plants Betty!

Anyone ever see a morning glory like this one? it is so pretty, but don't know if it is supposed to be like this or just a morphed one? It has not opened all the way. Don't know if it will?

Thumbnail by taters55
Victoria Harbour, ON

Independent thoughts..now that's orginal Jaye lol

Wow now isn't that something LindaKay..is this your first bloom??? looks as thought it's a double morning glory??? could it be?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yep, first bloom for this one!

Lyndonville, NY

Linda, I think that is a purple double ruffle morning glory....very very pretty! Have only seen them in pictures.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have it marked, and I sure hope to get some seeds from it?

Lyndonville, NY

You might...little round dark balls. Did you plant them or it just show up?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Let's hope you get mega seed..keep taking photo's of it..perhaps it will not open!
pretty/pretty

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I had a bunch of seeds I got from different DG friends, and I just placed them in the pots. Not know what to expect, so maybe this one is supposed to be this way?

Victoria Harbour, ON

You hit paydirt then...

gorgeous outside , had p,ans to do my planters, either that or sew cushions, such gorgeous outside fabric but I'm done in..hot bath, meds and relaxing night ahead, never mind relaxing, think sleep calls..

Mary's holiday is coming to a close..sure hope it was all she wanted her family vacation to be..
