Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chatting with friends...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg Debbie, does that mean you can't come, a tear just fell..

Glenview, IL

No Betty...She is going to STOP procrastinating and get that license fixed up!!
RRRight Debbie! lol...The last 2 times I tried posting I did mention about getting your DL enhanced!!
Also, was telling you, when I got min renewed asked about that and the guy just looked at me like I was from Mars!
Told DH, about it, he checked it out and i guess it's just at the border states that they do this for.

Lyndonville, NY

Yes, it is acute gout, doctor confirmed. Meds and diet change.

Susan, gout has flare ups. It can lay dormant for long time then have flare ups. It isn't always a constant pain. Once under control with meds & diet, sometimes you can go a year or two or longer. Just have to be careful.

Judy, DG is having issues this morning...it isn't you. Two of your pictures loaded....so maybe they are having issues on here.

Betty, Mama Fran looks horrible. OH and that looks so so painful. They better watch her for blood clots.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debbie, when Todd and I applied for our passport, and card, it only took two weeks to receive it! You have time!

OUCH! Bet she is really uncomfortable with all those bruises?

Judy, glad to hear you have hummers, get those feeders up, you will have more!

Lyndonville, NY

Linda, don't tell me I have time...I am already procrastinating! LOL

Glenview, IL

hahah, Debbie...i was thinking the exact thing!

No time...go get it/ do I have to remind you every single day till you go??
ROFLOL, you know how persistent I can be.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

My FIL has gout. Surprisingly, Cherries are very helpful in controlling it, as are drinking coffee and lots of water to help flush uric acid from the system. After a couple years of misery, his Gout is under control without having to take daily meds.

Go for it Judy, I've been so excited that Debbie and Paul were coming, best I deflate my baloon..

Just coming on every few minutes , Paul is almost ready to leave for the day, he came in for pay day and now off for the long weekend..

Big advertizing blitz starting beginning June, said I'd best be ready to be busy..I am!!!

As soon as he is gone I'll have time to come read

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, will read links..my dad suffered from Gout and think Paul (BIL) also had a few flare ups..Debbie, hope Paul isn't in too much pain..he has to be on his feet most of the day at work right?

Judy, going to look at photo's
learning a lesson, press send because opening photo lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, I'm with the others, wouldn't it be absolutely fantastic if the previous owner did purchase it!!! Would mean no fees for a Realtor, that helps and you would feel better knowing he loves the land that Tubby loved. I'm glad he and his family are there to offer you a hand, know having friends around when I was in need made me feel less overwhelmed, not that I called them a lot but just knowing I could was a relief.

Jean, just went and browed for what you suggested for lunch..we'll be going shortly, I know I'll not eat a full blown meal. Asked Paul if he had a rule about drinking alcohol in the office, said 'nope' few beer in the refrigerator if you want one' lol so continued sipping my hot toddy

Judy, just wanted to say wish I was with you all enjoying the fire....

Come and check out the raise my baby swap! Lots of fun!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wish I could join LindaKay but no can do shipping plants to USA..drats

What a transformation Judy, lots of work..now is that the house that you have an offer on? Can't keep up with you and Steve, always upgrading something..AGAIN, sure wish he lived closer to me lol

LindaKay, putting up my hummer feeders this weekend, put one up last weekend because I saw one fluttering near my window but didn't have food..will put that on my list of 'needs' for the weekend. Sharon was just leaving to go see mom, was talking to my brother Mike before she left and she doesn't want ANY company looking like she looks..laughing here, omg she would die of embarrasement if she knew they posted that picture on Facebook..wasn't me!!! won't tell her I copied it to this site..shaking my head no big time.

As for Mom Debbie, she's already on blood thinners, think that's why she was gagging on the blood, very thing..thank goodness for not a lot of cuts. she is always bored but still manages her quilt cross stitch, knitting and crochet..now that her right arm is in a cast she will really be bored..

Judy I do think it is any state that borders the Canadian Border that has the enhanced..think Barb and Norm got the enhanced when they came to visit if I'm correct. You and Steve would have your passports from going overseas right? B.J. and her sister have theirs..had to check because when she said they would arrive on the Thursday and cross over I thought now wouldn't that be nice if they didn't know they needed one..

Have to check with Janice and Stacey as well.. Joyce was thinking of driving up if hubby will look after her dad..have to remind her as well..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, here's hoping the plant sale will work out, even if it means the elderly can get the plants they want without travelling to all the nurseries it will be a bonus.
You will be fantastic at meeting with members for Pastoral care..smart Pastor you have..just think how fulfilled you will be..too bad it did not pay!

Katie, you sound chipper this morning..do you have a camera you could post photo's so we could see all the work you and Tony have been doing??? love to see different plants/shrubs

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got in, at the mall and the Police must be having a blitzz, inside near food court was police car/motorcycle, various equipment and a mighty fine bunch of good looking officers..wow, eye candy for sure.

Crowds were asking questions as I passed by, on my way out, nobody, they were all gathered talking to each other, I walked up and asked if I could ask a question??? One officer smiled and said .certainly, just hope we can help you!' Suzanne was looking at me unsure of what my question would be

My question:

'Can you tell me why when I was young all the police were old and not the best looking and now that I'm old they are all good looking hunks??'

Didn't they all burst out laughing..one said 'I look like hamburger out of my uniform' said 'could I see' and a big burst of laughter came next...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi everyone!!

First I want to say thank you for all the well wishes!!! Much appreciated and they are helping, I'm not sad or grieving or anything else, I am busy busy busy with work. I love being alone so I can think things out and work through them in the most positive and productive way I can.

Shirley that would be awesome if he would buy back your place when you're ready to move.

Boy Betty she is bruised, typical broken nose look, hope she's ok. LOL social media! How's your MIL? Give Ann a big big big hug for me, so glad she's doing something to help with the grieving process, some just take it harder than others I guess.

Katie how about I have a chat with that knee, do you think it will listen?

Debbie my dad has gout, has had it from years, they said from years and years of drinking entirely too much beer. He still drinks entirely too much beer and since he refuses to take meds somehow it has gone away, if you will, and he hasn't had a flareup in quite a few years. Gout's a strange beast.

(((((((((((((((((((DIANNE)))))))))))))))) I don't understand how people can be so rude!!! I would have said something lol

Well I need to get back to work, it doesn't seem that it's going to do itself.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OMG Betty, you are hilarious!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, sounds like you would ask that question! LOL!

Make sure you make your hummer food with no red food coloring. It is not good for them, add 1 cup of sugar to 4 cups of water, heat it just enough to dissolve the sugar, let it cool, and place in clean feeders. Very easy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Crissy! Glad we have Betty to make us smile!
Will you be going to court for your divorce? Hope you both agree on everything, so it is an easy divorce!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad to see you post Crissy...when you say you enjoy your time alone, does that mean Dave has found accommodations? glad you have friends to turn to and that you are taking things slowly working them out in your own fashion..sending big hugs

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, how come when you purchase the food in the stores it has a red tint..should I make my own then..someone said if there is no color they won't come to it??? Don't want to hurt those poor little things

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Because they don't care about the hummers! Please make your own, as the red coloring is not good for the hummers. I make mine all the time, and it is so easy to do. There are plenty of plants to attract them as you already have them there. Plus the feeders are usually red. That is all you need.

Victoria Harbour, ON

will do that tonight..few years ago I bought a beautiful 5 piece glass hanger, found it in a box when I was purging when the new shed went up, will bring it in and fill.. and yes, I've planted a lot of plants/shrubs to attract them..first year I see mega butterflies and even birdies are coming in great numbers..

relaxing to watch them..

Suzanne's laughing, just poured another cup of hot toddy..best I try walking straight line before driving home lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - hope you're taking lots of "Me" time.......... Is there a date set for the divorce proceedings?

LK - I'd heard that the red attracts the hummers, but you're right - red feeder is enough, don't need red food, too.......

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

omgosh, Betty - I was Wondering about that hot toddy, when you're driving home.............. tsk tsk tsk girl!!!

Lyndonville, NY

Crissy, DH doesn't drink...maybe once a year during the summer at our July 4th picnic. That is about it at all. His problem is his food intake. AND the junk he eats at work/lunch I don't see. Rochester is famous for a "garbage plate" and he just loves them. Not the healthiest of meal choices.

Waiting still to hear from Shannon, she has to have a meeting with her manager, supervisor and human resources. NOT going to end well in my book.

Betty, that is definitely something my Mom would have done. Especially "show me".

DS has been helpful today so far, I hope it keeps up. Mowed our yard, mowed Mrs. B's yard...who is an elderly woman he has taken care of for a couple years. She is now in an assisted living facility due to a broken hip. Then he helped with my spaghetti sauce and is now out on his longboard. Cast is off his arm....so, praying for a smooth sailing summer with no injuries. Sigh.

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hummers love any flower that is tube shaped or can get nectar from, and all colors, yellow, purple, red....

Debbie, guess the arm is healed if he is off on his longboard now! Kids never stop!

Victoria Harbour, ON

So beautiful out, smell of lilacs as I enter the door makes it so inviting, sitting here for a sec trying to determine if I've 4 days off do I go out, mow the lawn and makes less work for me over the weekend??

Problem is when I look for garden garb I see my nighty sitting there. Lol

What to do, what to do..

Just checked the telephone for voice mail..Luc has just to put the doors on and hasn't come back last night or is he here as yet..want it finished so I can stain..something must have come up...need to go to TimbrrMart tomorrow to purchase stain so if not yet done I'll inquire to see is something came up??

Debbie any news on Shannon?? Sure hope it's not what you think! Bet you are biting your nails..

Those longboards scare the heck out of me..Bryan, Suzanne son needed major surgery last year due to a fall and two days ago a 28 year old had an altercation with taxi driver who later went in his direction and ran Hm over..just worrysome when he is out..

LindaKay while I decide what tonight's plan is, think I will make up a batch of hummer juice..my garden will soon have an array of flowers for them to feast on!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LK I inherited my house from my grandparents in CA, sold that and bought this house with the money and still had money left over. Dave is wanting half the equity of my house, half of the money that I spent and that we spent together because it was joint (my argument is that it's my inheritance and my money and I can spend it anyway I want to,) he wants me to buy the furniture that I bought with my inheritance when we moved here, and some other miscellaneous stuff so yes we will be going to court, I have to protect what's rightfully mine.

Debbie I know Paul doesn't drink, I was saying that my dad manages his without managing it at all so hopefully Paul will have the same luck.

Betty Dave is still living there with me but since we're separated we're roommates now and I have space and quiet time that I never had before. Dave's not leaving because he thinks the house is his and I'm not leaving because I know the house is mine lol

Susan we don't have a court date yet, Dave hasn't responded to my serve, has up to 30 days to do so and I served him on the 1st. He's not wanting to use an attorney, I have to use an attorney, so this could get very interesting. He doesn't know Arkansas law and thinks he can look up everything online. I'm getting my paper trail together still, think I have it all and forwarded it to my attorney yesterday, I haven't heard back from him yet.

Oh Debbie I hope that's not a bad sign but it sure sounds like it. Wow Shane is all over it!! Good for him!!

Going home, Have a great night everyone!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, here I believe an inheritance is untouchable and not community property..sure hope you were smart and crossed all your t's ..you did in some way support him these past few years, could that be used against you?

Omg how are you doing it? Must NOT be a fun household to be in..no way could I live as you are doing.

If house is in your name alone and you pay the bills, is there no action you can take that he must leave??

I would be so afraid to leave the house for worry that one day I would come home and all would be gone!

This message was edited May 17, 2012 5:13 PM

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - I'd be worried that he'd change the locks....... can YOU do that, when he's not home, or would he turn violent?

mulege, Mexico

crissy, since you have a lawyer, ask about locking him out. I think it's a good idea but I don't know the law.

Met a neighbor from up the street today. He stopped to ask for some seeds from a tree I have. He's Mexican and speaks very good English. Named Alfredo.

The days are hot and humid now. Any work we do has to be done early.

Haven't learned to use my camera.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

well there you go Katie, during those hot humid days you can take up learning how! Great that you are meeting some of the neighbors..with Toni helping as he does has he been taking in English and you Mexican?

Dripping wet, grass won out, got the front and side lawns done, they are the worse as the ditch runs along the property line where the road is..quite a chore.

Just as I got the lawnmower out Luc came, doors and bolt locks are on , he will come back at noon tomorrow to pick up extra supplies and I'll finish paying him. Looks nice now if only I can get it stained this weekend.

While cutting the front that little garden helper Noah was on his way home, you could tell he was trying to avoid m..I called, he came over and I said Noah you did not come back and finish your jobs as promised..he said he had helped his grandma (Bernice across the road) and at home and said he was in mischief and grounded for a bit them too embarrassed to come back.

I explained to him when you take on a job it is far better to go to the person and say that you are unable to finish so someone else will be given the job..said he was sorry and off he went! Lol. Kids

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Oh Betty - I'm still laughing at your antics with the police... Please tell me your New Orleans dates are July !
Lilacs are gorgeous and your little helper such a cutie... So wonderful for you to take time to teach the young helper the right way to take on a job.....
Susan Kudos to you on the pastoral visits... I know he is a smart man to ask your help... as you'll do the best job....
Katie - Huge job that tree.... So glad you have Tony to help you out...
Oh Judy - that house looks completely different ! Any talk still of moving in? Seems that you said that once. Yes - you have a good memory... we do have a lot of August bdays... I'll be so torn if Betty comes in 8/3-5 (hear that Betty!)
Debbie so the "Child" could get special circumstances due to her health? but refuses to because she doesn't want to take advantage of that? I'd be upset too... she needs to take advantage of everything that is offered... that's why it is offered.
Crissy - ((HUGS)) hope things go as even tempered as possible....but sounds like he is trying to take advantage of you. Unfair.

Jean - getting hot these days ! Probably for LK as well....

So the red coloring is bad for the hummers?

I goofed off a bit at work today (remembering I have worked the last TWO Saturdays!) and ran into Old Navy. Everything in there is Hibiscus. Wow. Treated myself to 3 new outfits for Disney then got hair did.

The boss is nicely punishing everyone tomorrow and it still wasn't enough to wipe this smile off my face ! 7 days tomorrow!

((HUGS))
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mary do any of the outfits have ears?? Lol

It will be a long week for you..oooh you will have so much fun with the family..soon travelling as one entire family will be over..

My boys were talking on Mothers' Day about all of us doing a family trip, possibly at Christmas..I sure would be torn because I've already told Darlene I'd drive her to Florida then fly home! Thought of you all going and all the planning and excitement..so hope it's everything you want it to be..

Dianne know you have been on my mind this evening ..how are the furries!

Debbie any news on Shannon? And the bunny, must be quite a size?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It was 91 here today! Supposed to be mid 80's the rest of the week!

Lyndonville, NY

The news on DD is she had a meeting, the "trouble" super is going on maternity leave as of Monday, so fingers crossed things will calm down.

Because of DD's previous cancer issue, radiation treatment, etc. she is "labeled" TBI/traumatic brain injured. This is from being so little while receiving all
of the medical treatment doing damage to her very young forming brain. Candle lighters foundation has quite a few articles on this, as does Cancer.net.

Betty, did I say something about the bunny? He is quite adorable...but still somewhat small. He is 4 months old.

Thumbnail by DebbiesDaisy
Baton Rouge, LA

Awe Deb ! Somebunny is SO so cute ! Bunny poop is great for the garden right?

Betty - yes I anticipate this may be the "last" trip with the family as a whole.... so a special one...

Lyndonville, NY

Yep, bunny poop is great for the garden! He goes in a little litter box so that is helpful. He has such a sense of humor...chases the cats.
His name is Spencer aka Whizzer. lol

DS definitely wants something...he cleaned the entire kitchen, top to bottom including stove and cabinets. He wants the car to use!!!!

Mary sure hope this trip goes well. It sounds so exciting. When is MILs surgery?

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Deb - MIL's surgery is 6/4 so right when we get back... I'm not sure what I should do....what is expected of me... should I take off from work, or wait and help out afterward.......

Whizzer is so so cute ! Yes - move that bunny poop out to the flowers. Let me know when I cansend you the variagated canna !

(HUGS)
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Mary, send it soon as you want. We are ready up here.

Will MIL have a nurse come to the house afterwards, or how long will she be in the hospital? I think if she is in the hospital for days, that
you can go to work, long as you call and check in....and go there after work. Usually doctors are in and out, and there is therapy and resting is needed.
At least that was how my days went. By 3:30 or so...I could tolerate visitors.

I would definitely wait to take off work when she comes home if she will be there alone. Maybe come home on a Thursday....so you would only maybe need Friday off??? Wishful thinking. Would DSDs be of any help to her?

HUGS back!
Debbie
