Yes we have tarantulas, scorpions, snakes... Most of the tarantulas will not bite unless they are provoked! They live in the ground, and if they feel it is going to rain, they will come out of the hole, and climb a tree. They do have venom, but for most that get bitten, it just makes them really sick, like the scorpions. But if you are sensitive to things like bees and mosquito's, then it will probably bother you more! But to me, any of these creature are dead if they come ear me! I do not like them one bit!

Shuddered a bit at killing the tarantula LindaKay.....we had a beautiful Rose Hair Chilean tarantula named Eleanor for a number of years. We would take her to work with us and place her on the counter with a small desk plate that read MS Eleanor, Credit Manager....no one ever asked for credit....grin Even the kids held her and she was never aggressive. We lost her and all of our tropical fish to a pest control worker that ignored the Do Not Spray/Contact Manager notice on the apartment door.....If we were not home, Betsy would come and cover the tanks with plastic to protect them....this guy actually intentionally killed Eleanor...we found spray residue all over her tank and the fish tank....cost the blighter his job.

OMG Jean, never thought about having a tarantula as a pet..you are made of stronger stuff than I..I'm nust getting used to spiders and when cleaning gardens around the pond where I've put barriers of rock I look for slithering snake..worse that we have is rattlers but not right in my neighborhood..Beausoleil (beautiful sun in french) is a RattleSnake sanctuary and provincial park, you'd be charged if ever you hurt one, forget the hurt one it's them hurting me that's the worry. How could your co-worker do such a think, glad he lost his job! Spit my coffee out when I heard you say no one asked for credit...so laughing..Suzanne actually asked me what I was laughing at.

Well, the ferns survived and I emailed/phoned people at the church that I asked about where the ferns disappeared to, and let them know they're found.
Betty - I have No room for these. I'd considered if I could put One fern in when I got mine at the same time. Couldn't keep 5 in the house lol Where would I keep my quilting?!?! LOL

LK - I know that people keep tarantulas as pets, but to have one "sneak up on you" when you don't own one, and it's not domesticated..........Yikes.
Jean - Bad Man to have killed an obvious pet! and all of the tropical fish? He deserved to lose his job!

oh, and Ruby - I understand that if you ask, airport staff will accompany you through the airport so you're not alone. They want their guests to be comfortable about flying, etc. My mom (93 now!) is very frail and they stay with her and keep her in sight at all times. They wouldn't even "release her" until I proved I was the person listed on her ticket.
I won't be able to go to Betty's at the end of June, but sure would "tickle me pink" to know that you'd be able to meet all those new (and known) Sistahs who are going!!

Betty - here in Calgary we have coyotes........... guess that means you'll never visit????? We don't have mice or rats........ although when I had my son at home, he bought a pet rat home......... hated the thing, but when he ran away for a bit, I was left to feed and handle it........ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Did I say I didn't like rats? But, it was a furry, and a pet, and I Will Not Neglect A Pet! Even if it is a rat............... or tarantula........(shudder)

Cayotes in my neck of the woods as well..there is a fisher that is killing kitties in the area (looks like an overgrown cat-weight about 20 lbs..black/brown in color) Darlene said Dannie (remember she stayed with me a bit after Rose my boarder left and I had to ask her to leave when she wanted to move her kids in?) well 4 of her 9 kitties got eaten.

Guess we all have something to contend with..

Not a co-worker....an employee of the pest control company that treated our apartment....his excuse...I didn't see the sign and I hate spiders....he just chose to ignore the sign, a 5x7 placard posted just above the deadbolt on the door...and I don't give a flip what he likes or doesn't.....that same day he sprayed a neighbor's newborn kittens also...he said he saw fleas....the Mother was an inside cat and the kittens had never been outside either. The kittens survived, but had a huge vet bill thanks to him....we all filed complaints and claims against the company...they re-imbursed us and he paid with his job....

We have snakes and coyotes also.

Drats one of the 4 girls cannot make the July trip to New Orleans..now we have to decide as a group do we invite a 4th or just travel with 3?? With 4 it makes the trip more economical

Yes, we see them all the time in the summer, more often when it rains! If they are out in the yard, and I see it from a distance, I know it is there, and that is OK, but it is not OK, when they crawl put from under my chair!

Not yet, waiting on them to evaluate the x rays and reports I sent them. Hopefully soon?

Busy here doing a travel schedule and budget for End of July early August ..girls want to know financial impact if only 3 of us are going...looking up tours etc..gee whiz I should be a travel planner. Lol

Yes, it would be better, but it all depends on his schedule, and what kind of damage has been done, that needs repairs too!

Jean - guess he thought as he didn't like "pests" that he was in the right business? NOT! Spraying little kittens, etc?!?!?! So glad the company reimbursed, but should not have happened at all......... (shaking my head). What a jerk!!!!!!

Bob & I are heading out to Blue Grass Nursery today, to fill out a Vendors Wholesale form for the church. Over the next 2 Sundays we're going to take orders for bedding & house plants, trees, and shrubs (doubt that anyone will get trees.......). and we're also going to look at getting new plant stands for the church, to replace the ones that were stolen.
I spoke to the Secretary, and she said they're considering locking the interior doors again. Now, as long as someone has a key to get into the outer doors, they're able to go anywhere else in the church (except for the Pastor's office, but they CAN get into the Secretary's office). This is problematic....... we had a large screen TV donated last June, and we also have electronics, etc. A month or so ago one of our Memorial plaques went missing, and now it (with all the tiny brass plates on it) will have to be replaced........
I tend to agree with our pastor when he says some older person who's getting a little "forgetful" is not realizing what they're doing, thinking they're doing a good thing............ It's sad really, but it's also a fact of life. Just wish we knew Who, so we could help that person.
The Secretary is making an updated list of who has outer door keys, and go from there.

Was just leaving for lunch at 2:00pm when a sister-in-law who has been staying with Roger's mom for past few months called to say she telephone 911..apparently she had her pills out on the counter to last the day, Roger's mom got up, mistakenly took all of Marg's pills (hopefully she didn't take hers as well) and when Marg went to check on her she was barely breathing. Suzanne just left for the hospital, Paul is at a creditors' meeting with a client in the city..who knows what the outcome will be!

Went for chinese on my own, drats I hate eating alone, then a quick stop at Canadian Tire for stain colors, they don't sell Olympic products so I'll have to wait until Friday to pick a color!!

Boys put up my new gazebo and the manufacturer must have had his brain on vacation when it was designed..
before I said anything I went downstairs to Zellers and checked the one that was up JUST incase the boys did something incorrect seeing Greg said he did not need instructions..lol but he put it together just as it should have been..

Picture then, a gazebo with each support corner being 2 sided like a 'v' and has a 'v' type metal corner which actually you can use for drinks, plants on each corner and it acts as a support to stabilize the gazebo legs...

now the netting which didn't come with it was $79.99 extra, not a problem..Jeff had me go Sat. afternoon to buy one, usually my back deck being closed in is enough, don't usually close the screen on gazebo but he felt I should have it.

so when you close the netting it's on the inside and not big enough to allow for those metal insert corners, you either have to take the 'v' corners out or can't use the screen..bad design..

called the number Zellers gave me, guy said he had all kinds of complaints and that he would send mine to China with the others..I asked what his company did..they replace parts that might be missing when items are purchased, so I say, if I had a 5th screen it would give me enough width to go on outside of gazebo hmmmm couldn't make him understand what I was trying to say..finally he said 'are you saying you are missing a screen?' yep, really am, asked for skewer #..hello I was really good at burning all the boxes then it hit me, I've a box I have to mail tomorrow, if I unwrap then I've the skewer number so will do BUT still a bad design, what I want to do is make shift!

What a day, first Roger's mom. Then my mom..before leaving work got into a coughing jag, vomited all over my clothing, had to wash it off, came home stinky, went to turn on warwe, oops no water, trucks are up the street digging, guess trouble in the lines, managed to change but I sure don't smell the best..

Am sure Suzanne will and about her mom, I'll give it till 7 and will check on my mom IF I can talk..

On good side,Luc is here, trim almost done, his plan is to finish the trim, shingle roof before leaving tonight, I asked if he planned working in the dark..says all that will remain is hanging the doors tomorrow night if it doesn't rain then I can put everything back in the shed and all that remains is staining this weekend

Sorry Betty. Perhaps you should call the ER for a report...hospital is not the best place to be when fighting infections. At least that would answer your questions.

Luc almost has the toil and shingles done, can feel the rain coming..he thought it might be best to put all my taped belongings into the shed..tired but I'm done!

I have good news - Bob's Truck Is Fixed! at 11:30pm last night Richard came by and he and Bob put some oil in the truck (plus he'd instructed Bob to put his battery charger on, which he did, for several hours that night). After the charge and more oil, the truck started. Richard asked him to wait 1/2 hour (12:30 AM!) and start the truck again. It's good to go! And he's been using it today. Just charged $40 for the service. We're able to do that.
Only thing is........... Richard didn't tell us he had a way to tow Bob's truck, so he'd gotten all ticked off that we'd paid a tow truck driver to move the truck. Gee - wouldn't it have been nice to let us know he could tow? ah well, at least Bob has his truck back, and a total of $80 is Not bad.
As soon as we can, Bob needs to get a full oil change.......

We had DSD2's graduation last night. Got home around 10p. Hubs gathered the family and told them about MIL's upcoming surgery (as she wanted him to).

Then I told them a few details of our trip.... all was a secret up to then but still have quite a few 'surprises' up my sleeve.

I counted 4 "complaints" ....all from DSD1...... (sigh) will be a LONG summer......

Was up early this morning, noticed that the garbage bin next door at the restaurant was 1/2 full so out in my jammies and rain filling it up from what I purged from the back shed. Yard is now void of anything dragging except my garden art..can't get rid of those items now can I???

Suse..MIL still in intensive care, Suzanne is in this morning, has a few things to do but she'll be leaving for the hospital. Just call mom, Jim is home for the rest of the week to look after her..he said they gave her mega drugs and she is sleeping..he's moved bed downstairs so that she does not have to attempt stairs..says the problem is she falls ,injures herself and before that is healed she falls again. I'll call tonight, maybe she will be awake!

As for me, sitting quietly, eating up cough candies that actually numb the mouth..yuk

Morning All!

Another beautiful day, I am headed down the road to finish trimming and pulling weeds for the young gal that leaves a 1/2 mile away. She's scared of snakes so she doesn't do anything but mow on her rider or tractor. I want to pull some weeds here today also and will mow either tomorrow or Friday when the temps get a little warmer. I can ride as to pull weeds. I did get most of the flowers planted and still have some seeds to put out.

I'd like to move to my DD's this fall, but when I open the sheds and look at what all has to be done, it gets overwhelming. I know that when I bring my DSL back with me we will get alot accomplished. I need to go talk to an auctioner yet. Got to find one that is honest. I'll just keep plugging away, a day at a time.

I think I will spray paint the patio set before I set them out. I'll do it in the garage so I son't have to contend with the wind and the dogs getting too close.

I am leaving the 30th for the GD's graduation on the 3rd of June. The GD and beau from Florida will arrive on the 31st. Can't wait to see them. My DSis from MO. will meet up with me in Iowa and then we will travel together. She bought a different Jeep so she is donating the old one to the GD that lives in Florida. They will drive back. I have to contact my friend to make sure she can come and feed and water the dogs while I'm gone. The gal down the road will check on them to make sure everyone is okay in the mean time.

Well, there really isn't anything new here, so will go get busy and check on everyone in a day or two.

Shirley, Mary's husband is an Auctioneer, hope I got it right?? Perhaps his company has offices all over USA and he could provide you with some information. Think an auction is the best and less overwhelming for you. Is property selling in your area at present? with the economy being so bad might be worth trying to hold on one more year OR close the house and spend winter near your daughter.

You must be making some headway seeing you are helping out your neighbor, maybe she can cut your grass on the rider while you pull her weeds..

Should call Ann, it's 1 year ago today her Mike passed on..she was saying last night that it was just like a fog this past year and was having trouble remembering what his voice sounds like and many memories gone, guess it's her mind's way of dealing with it. She and the girls will be in Barrie at noon, Mike's favorite was wings so they are going to his favorite haunt and have a beer and order of wings.

Well I had something happen yesterday and I am just shaking my head. A couple from the village 'dropped' in. You just don't drop in do you Thea?They got out of their truck and were looking at the gardens (which are in such a state of disarray. The lady said "Are you staying here now your husband has passed?" When I replied I was she nodded to her DH and as they walked back to their truck she called to me "Remember we were the first people to see your house." She just gutted me, that is the only word I can use to describe how I felt and still feel. To quote my dear dad 'it will be a frosty Friday before' she ever gets a chance to bid on this house.

Betty I bet you are getting ready to have your new shed up and set for use. I imagine young Luc is very appreciative of the extra money he is making.
