LK no I don't know them. I just recognized them from the village and the store. Just goes to show there are no secrets in this village.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chatting with friends...
OMG Dianne, do people not think??? and yes, regardless how long your hubby has been dead it does seem that we belong in a group of our own..luckily we all have each other and try to help each other on. So hope that you can find someone in your area for emotional support..know that you have us but sometimes it's just nice to get a real 'hug'
No wonder your gardens need some tender love and care, you've been giving tlc to Santa Warren for so long and that was your priority..maybe you can find a few minutes here and there to work in the gardens ..when all mine are in bloom I sometimes think was Heaven's gardens must look like and hope Roger is doing the same.
Will tell Ann that you've sent kind thoughts to her today..she appreciates them all. She told me last night a large floral arrangement came from her sister..she got so emotional, called her sister, said 'thanks but I'm not able to talk right now, just too emotional but this means everything to me' she looked drained last night..she's been seeing someone to help her through the grieving process, 1 on 1 and now she's has started a support groups, once a week for 8 weeks. Congratulated her, sure did help me..
In my area, most have open door policy, wouldn't think of calling first, just drop in with a 'hi' and a 'hug' gee whizz that's where this thread started, my being on another thread years and years ago and got called a liar because of my comments..lol..
Dianne, everything is back in the shed, only thing not finished is the 2 doors..Luc said he would be at my place on his lunch today if possible and would hang the doors. Last night Darlene asked if he would be interested in taking shingle off 2- 10x12 buildings she has..Luc says he's not the greatest at giving an estimate but would work by the hour. He charged me $25.00 / hr so it would be the same for her but she would have to dispose of the shingles. Will give him Darlene's telephone number..she as well has things she needs done and with each that falls behind comes the Memory of how much her Mike did..he was jack of all trades! Maybe we should the 3 of us hire Luc to work for us all week..what is the most it would cost us $175. each?
ok LindaKay, was going to include another but thought I had sent you one..
$25.00 per hour is what I pay my cleaning lady and it is worth every cent of it to me. Sounds like a good idea for all 3 of you get together and hire Luc. I am assuming you are all good enough friends that no one will try to bulldoze over another to get what they wanted done. I think if you go ahead with this idea your young Luc has come upon a great arrangement.I have Steve to help me and I don't pay him. Somehow when Santa Warren was first diagnosed with Stage 4 he and Steve made some kind of deal. Whatever it is it means Steve is here when I need him no matter what time of day or night. And I know that made SW feel much easier having that taken care of before he passed.
It's just so hard Dianne, well more frustrating than anything else..I've drywalled, painted floors, layed floors in all the bedrooms, helped with decks, tiled kitchen but then you run across things that need doing and you know you can't undertake the project and you are near tears..right now I want a little room downstairs finished, actually furnace room where I have my computer..been on my list of inside 'to do's for a few years, as well as the ceiling down there, my brother keeps promising but he's so busy at work that doubtful it will get done..sooo tempted to look up classes that teach you such things so I can try and do o my own.
Must give you such a warm feeling knowing that SantaWarren had a game plan that you would be ok to stay where you are at and that Steve will be there to help you! wonderful to know that you are not alone, that you have an earthly angel designated by Santa Warren to watch over you.
Betty, go ahead and stick it in the package, I can always use it here!
Dianne, so glad to hear you have Steve there to help you out!
Dianne - that woman OBVIOUSLY has No class or couth and can never be expected to have either............
When you're back up to it, your gardens will flourish, as always! So glad you're "set" to stay in your home!
I'm happy you have someone to help clean your home - so easy to let things go when you've had the major "shock to the system" from Warren's passing - as much as it was expected, and he's out of pain now.
Shirley - I think getting an auctioneer is a wonderful idea - getting one recommended by someone who cares for you is even better!! Certainly, take as much time as you need to make the move - this is not the time to be hasty. I've heard it said that if you make a major move within the first year of your partner passing, that you live to regret it. When my FIL remarried 6 months after his wife passed, he then had his legs amputated, and she left him because she wanted to be able to dance. This wouldn't have happened with a partner you'd been with for a long time........ they hadn't had the strength of years to steady them through tough times. Just don't act too hastily, however - that being said, taking a holiday to be with those you love (and closing your house down for awhile) sounds like a Great Idea!!
Just had lunch, doesn't pay to spend $12.00 on a lunch that you bring up 10 minutes after eating.
Oh no Betty!!! Do you have some gravol that you can take? I sure hope this Infectious Disease doc has some answers for you. Have they asked you what countries you have visited in the last 2 - 3 years, what you have eaten that was new to you? It might sound silly but even the smallest recollection could provide them with a clue.
Some of the humming birds are back. In fact one buzzeed me outside this afternoon. So I will get out the feeders;
.
Suse's we left here at 7:00 this morning, stopped at Bob Evans off the Thruway for breakfast....then headed to Canandaigua to pick up DS from college. FOUR shopping carts full of his stuff....into the van and the TV and he is now home. Cleaning his room and reorganizing. There is once again the piano playing and music blaring....that I actually missed. He seems sad, will miss his friends, but I have a feeling they will be visiting.
Waiting to hear if "the child" has a job or whats going on. There are big changes at work and her position may be affected.
DH went off to PT, and I am ready to nap!!
Betty, sorry about all that....hope you feel better soon!
Dianne, I told you what I would do.....a shotgun and "private property" to scare the heck out of them. That is just beyond rude.
We had a bout of rain but that cleared up, sun is shining and....I need a nap!
I did manage to get my hair done yesterday.....thank heavens!
Now I am going to try that nap I have mentioned twice. LOL
Debbie
Debbie, you will be back to having a full house, so glad you didn't get used to empty nest syndrom!
Is Paul not back at work or does he still have days he has to be for PT.
Hoping that the 'child' get to keep her job..must be a worry for her now that she has car payments and living expenses.
If you've mentioned a few times having a nap must mean you've done too much and body is saying it needs rest.
Dianne, nothing caught, doctor says its something going around that just stays and symptoms are same and can last weeks if not months..well I've already put in weeks if not 1 month... told Suzanne no more lunches of solid foods, it's either puddings / jello or ice cream..will try that for awhile.
Betty, dairy products may tend to build up more mucus and make you cough more. Are you taking mucinex D? It is a good antihistamine, and helped with my cold. Plus lots of fluids, and vitamin C!
Betty, Linda is right...milk/dairy is not good when you have a cough, makes you cough more. You need warmer drinks, they help keep phlegm from thickening and dilute. Hot tea (with honey), water with lemon....all good things.
I did get used to empty nest.
Paul just had day off to help move Shane home...then PT at 3:30.
thanks girls, I'll stop off at Foodland and pick up both lemon and honey..does it have to be pure honey or honey that you buy to make sandwhiches??? I'm clueless
Any honey works...but a natural orange or clover does better I believe.
Debbie what is a clover?
Clover honey is a popular honey here, as the bees get the pollen from clover. Try to get a local honey, as that helps your body build your immune system up. But any honey will work. Any hot tea will help too. Put some honey in your tea.
Betty - this is clover, that the bees gather from, to make honey:

Hello everyone! Just trying to keep up and can't do it, too much on my plate.
Betty I am soooooo sorry about your mom and MIL! My goodness those ladies! Hope everyone ends up ok, I'm worried.
Susan glad the truck wasn't too much to fix.
Well I don't remember what else I read so I'm going to give everyone hugs and head home in a bit. I'll try to come back on in the morning but I can't promise.
Hi Crissy....good thoughts to ya. Illigitimi non carborundum.....HUGS
Betty....aren't you taking antibiotics for your kidneys? They also kill off good bacteria our bodies need to help digest certain foods...like dairy. Natural culture yoghurt...live culture bacteria...is the quickest way to restore the bacteria you need. Plus you can mix it with fruit and granola and a few dark chocolate bits and have a healthily digestible indulgence....that is actually good for ya and tastes great. It is also good with raw veggies.
Just know we are thinking about you Crissy! Now isn't the time for you to be on your own..you need your Dg friends to help you through this..
Ok, got home, talked to Ann for a bit, got a couple of lemon juiced and in a pitcher, added some pure honey (boy has it gone up in price) and for good measure added a few oz. of rye and then hot water. Doesn't taste half bad. Lol. I made a pitcher full so I'd just have to micro and I'd have an instant drink..will make one for work tomorrow just not sure about adding rye..imagine if I got picked up for impair,,, ooops tub running
Betty, do not put the honey in until you heat it...it melts throughout the drink better. Won't hurt...just for taste. I actually make my sweet tea using honey.
Did it Debbie, now sipping, in my Jammie's,had a spoon of honey for safe measure and now covered and ready to nap. So nice to have you all come up with home remedies..it sure is appreciated.
When I pulled in the yard I saw that Andrew dad dropped my lads of top soil and Ann said she got hers as well..now that is service, ordered it at 8:30 last night! So here I'm laying hthinking that I should be out adding it to the gardens but had a good talk to myself and said enough was enough before you gals said it. Lol
Ooops forgot to say my best of the day..Cathy was here and did 2 large bouquets of lilacs for me..all I can smell right now..just love it!
Worse, feeling so badly for Ann today, she is now in bed because she wants this day to pass
What did I learn?? Homemade remedy, now let us see if it helps

Hello To All !
Yes - Just as Jean confirmed... we have no snakes, spiders, alligators here. In Louisiana they only stay in the swamps where they can help the locals make money on T.V.
ROFLOL!
It's like Camelot here !
Betty - sure hope your dates are July.... I literally have NOTHING planned this year (after Disney) except that 8/3-5 Family reunion.
Would almost feel like cancelling it to be with you here but the kids are looking forward to it already... (it's at the beach)
I've never heard of a honey sandwich !
Shirley - so sweet of you to help... I think that young lady ought to be helping you pull your weeds! Yes Hubs went to auctioneer school hasn't got his license yet but works for an auction company. Not sure if they are honest but I hope so.
LOL
Dianne.. ((HUGS)) That is so weird and strange... some people just don't know how to act I suppose... hope they get what's coming to them.
Yes trip is 9 days away... will have to try to get those swap plants in the ground asap or try to get someone to water while we are gone....
Oh Deb... I suppose it's bittersweet... I'm not sure how things will shake out with DSD1 back. Stuff everywhere. Messes. LOUDness. sure was a more manageable household with her away. But I know you miss Shane's music playing throughout the house....
I'll pop back in a bit.
(HUGS)
Mary
Mary - Never Heard Of A Honey Sandwich? hard to believe.............
I forgot to tell y'all - I have an honoured "best" on Monday Night.
take a step back to 1 month ago - Pastor asked me if I'd be interested in doing Pastoral Visits - said I'd be good at it.
One week later, I agreed, and he said again "you'd be good at it". Monday night the organizer of our Pastoral Visits announced to the Board that I will be doing Pastoral Visits (helps take the load off the pastor - he was asked at the beginning of April to visit someone - not an emergency, she just would like to have a visit. He's had 2 funerals, and several other duties that were related to them, and other urgent visits to make, so just got to visit the lady on Tuesday.). I feel very honoured to help members of our church by visiting them, and helping them through their day.
Several people have agreed that not only is it a great help for our pastor, but that I am a good choice for this!! :-)
Morning,
It's a sunshine day in my neighborhood, work today then 4 days to play!! Yippee
Not sure if it was the honey/lemon or the rye but had a good night's rest..just made a container (put in the rye) for work..let's say I may hack all day but it I'll be happy doing it lol
Sending you all bouquet of lilacs
Morning!
The wind is blowing like crazy, but will finish cutting down unwanted trees.
Betty hope you get to feeling better soon. How's your Mom doing? The guy that Tubby and I bought the farm from told me over a year ago that if I ever decide to sell, he would be interested and like first chance. I just briefly talked to him, will have to talk somemore. He owns the farm land around us and across the road. Great guy and so is the family. They always look out for me and if I need help, I know they'd come. The lilacs are done blooming here. Most of the peonies are done also. What cute pictures, she's a darling. It's always an adjustment for them when they have to learn to share Mom & Dad.
Dianne, some people are just stupid and need to get their head out of that area on the body that never sees the sun. I'd make sure they wouldn't get the chance to buy if you sell some day. I don't know why people always think that's the first thing to do. Just step back and go very slow and eventually things will get better and you will feel more like doing things, even working in the flower garden. It's a big relief to know that you have someone to call when you need help. SW was thinking ahead, what a sweet thought to let you know he is still watching out for you. God Bless!
Susan how wonderful that the Pastor asked you to help. You will be so good at it and it'll bring you such a great feeling.
Crissyr hope things will get better for you soon. Will be thinking of you and saying prayers, not much but maybe it'll help.
Mary, I'm sure the company is honest or your hubby wouldn't be there. Some of my friends have told me who they thought would be honest and wish ones wouldn't. I've been to enough and know how some of them do it, somethings I won't agree to, so will be interesting to say the least.
Still need to find a job, but I really don't want to work while SIL is here helping. There's too much to get done and some of it takes two to do.
Well I better get off and get something done. I need to sew the cushions for DD's swing that I bought material for last year. Okay, I'll work on those next week so my hands don't look so rough before I go. I wear gloves, but somethings need to get touched, but a good sink of dishes to wash will clean them up good. LOL
Have a great day to all and will check on you all later.
Shirley
Good morming, everyone.
Diane, cannot believe how tacky some people are no matter how often we have the experiences to show us.
crissy, thinking of you and your recovery. Go out and have fun.
Susan, how nice to be recognized that way. It will probably be difficult but rewarding.
I'm waiting for Tony to arrive. Neighbors Dana and Tom are leaving today. Of course, today of all days, instead of being clear and sunny, we are fogged in!!
Tony and his friend Tony took down a big tree yesterday. It gave shade but dripped sticky stuff with its leaves and Tony got tired of cleaning up after it and took most of it down while I was gone. Yesterday took a big trunk that would have fallen on my roof in the next hurricane. We have a big mess to clean up which means most other work gets put off.
Betty, I was agreeing with you compltetly about working and wowrking and never getting anything finished. Can be very frustrating. I thank God several times a day for Tony who helps with the work and helps me to stay calm, no matter what. Don't know how he does it but it sure helps me.
And, Betty, I'm glad you're feeling better. My shoulder got better from vomiting - is your still bothering you? Knee pain is as much as Ican handle with any grace.
hugs all around, katie
Good morning!
Oh Betty, sure hope your feeling better...Yep, yep honey and tea, sounds like it helped to sooth and give you a nice restful sleep? Awe, your little office helper is so adorable!! Please give Ann a big Arm Wrap from me. I'll give another when I see her in what 34 days!! Look how lovely the Lilac are, so sweet of Cathy...Can't wait to meet her...
Dianne, Yikes, jaw fell open at your drop ins!! Some people are just so rude...
...We had a few prayers fires with SW and you in thoughts and prayer, so I'm glad to be with you in Spirit.
So glad that Santa W and Steve have you covered, sure sounds like a gem, for sure. You just take it one day at a time...As far as naps, lol I've taken to at least lying for a rest, by 2:30 I'm usually wiped out.
Debbie, Very cool Shane is back home!! Yep i'll bet his buddies will come to visit, will he look for a part time job?
Yep, i sure miss the music being played. Julia will take out her Sax every now and again and play...LOL, I try not to make a big deal about it...We've got a piano, she begged for and it just sits gathering dust!!
Man o man, sure hope the "Child's" can keep her job...I was wondering if she is still at home. Is the knee healing nicely?
Mary, you got a full house again too...Wow, where did the time go?? OMG 7 days, you must be beside yourself! Hopefully the week goes quickly? LOL are you packed?? August family reunion, woohoo! And isn't it a whole bunch of birthdays at that time too? So glad everyone is excited about that.
Shirley, Wow...That would be incredible if the original farmer aquires the farm from you! Less hassle too.
LOL, I was thinking about those American pickers. The TV show, they travel around and pick through peoples barns, and storage...find treasures and make offers. Well I sure hope you will find an auctioneer, lol I too thought of Mary's honey. OMG, when are you going to Wisconsin for Graduation?? Congratulations!
Waiving Hi Katie, Wow, you and Tony sure do get alot of stuff done! Glad the tree is down...Whew, I've worked a few tree jobs with my Brother and DH...LOL mostly my jobs is hauling and stacking the wood! Do you have fires or will haul the downed tree somewhere else? Glad your shoulder is better?
Waiving hiya Linda kay...You know, Ive seen a little hummer flitting around my iris. Oh and It must live somewhere close...It takes a short rest on my telephone wires. every day...lol, Julia was standing at edge of deck and it came hovering very close, she was amazed. I was telling her how you had one feed from your hand that time. To funny, she just witnessed a robin yank a worm from the ground, she was completely thrilled at the sight, said it was the first time to see this!! LOLOL, I was like really? where the heck have you been to never see this before.
Crissy, Just sending Big Armwraps...Know we are here when you are ready and able to talk...Hope thing settle down, so you have time to think.
Oh Moonie, That Daylily??, is such a stunning color!! I love it. I am excited as my Iris are blooming...Think it time to thin them out a bit, lol of course when there done flowering...
OMG, it's already after 9!! I am late with our Toast and Birdie is letting me know!!
Got to do a few loads of laundry and pack, yep we are off to the house sometime tomorrow! We're expecting Steve's other Cuz Linda, Joyces sister. Sweet, sweet lady, so you know we are pretty excited she has finally decided to come and enjoy the country, our country!!
So I HAVE some photos!! Tadah, Breenie, set her very cool camera for me...so I can just point and shoot! Yesterday, went to Huber and took a few pics as well as my Iris blooms here! Sigh, it took literally hours to scan and then upload them...She had over 800 pics on her card!! So, we are back in business. And now i can show you before and after pics...plus she has the other house pics! Later today, i have to go and have disks made...especially since this puter is limited in occupying my desk!
Dianne, for you!
Hi Judy! The child went back to her apartment last Friday for the weekend and has been doing fine. Should hear today or tomorrow about the job situation. It just breaks my heart....she can't keep a job for anything. Her health issues and needing time off do not help the situation, and she will not ask for special help due to the disabilities act and doesn't want them to know. She is hurting herself, but I can't step in and do anything about it.
DH yelled at me last night for not getting my license....he wants to go to Canada and play with all the toys at Bettys! ROFL I keep thinking I have time but I don't!! I am such a procrastinator. Speaking of DH...he is at the doctor, and I am afraid he has gout. Came on very very sudden last night and ths morning can barely walk.
It is so nice out, warmer outside than in the house! Had coffee on the back steps listening to the birds and frogs. Quite damp out there but so pretty and sunshine!
Going for another coffee.....Hugs to all!
Debbie
Betty - thanks for the lovely lilacs - and you're right, she looks like she's a "little monkey" and such a cutie! Glad you're feeling better. I agree, the combination of the throwing up, and the sleepy-time drink probably helped you "turn the corner" with this nasty cold.
Shirley, ours lilacs haven't bloomed yet. We have late bloomers, even for Calgary, on our lot. How sweet of the farmers across the road - they sound like wonderful people. Thank you, Shirley - I'm looking forward to helping with the pastoral visits
Dianne - too bad you don't have these wonderful neighbours that Shirley has........ I still can't get over the supreme rudeness of that woman who wanted to buy your place!!!
Debbie - gout?! Member of our church had it, he was told, but several weeks later he didn't. I thought gout was a "forever" thing.......... but he sure will need to watch his diet!! There's meds for it, right? Your license, or your passport?
Judy - get out there with that toast!! poor little birdies lol
Crissy - d-mail me your # - I've done losted it! lol
Today I'm off to Bible Study. We're studying Matthew (just starting the NT).
We're going to have a Plant Sale at the church. As this is our first year, we want to see how it will go, so will take orders over next 2 Sundays, and deliver on June 3rd. No, it's not too late to plant flowers........ we may get a bit of snow today........ weird weather Calgary has - still not used to it. In Winnipeg we'd have planted Everything already..... Well, guess being in the shadow of those beautiful mountains has it's drawbacks - sun goes down, and so does the temperature......... Now, if we were in BC on the other side of the mountains, we'd be growing grapes and making wine LOL
omy goodness, Betty - your poor mom! How old is she? She looks about my mom's age, and she's 93.......
She is 81..My SIL Kim said the photo is not showing just how bruised she is
Paul is the office, fist time I've been busy for 3 weeks. Lol
Off for hot toddy
OK...Well i give up.
I've been trying to post and share pics. This seems to be impossible!!
Will try again later.
This is now the 3rd time to say:
Betty, Oh my goodness, Sending mom some very gentle arm wraps. So sorry she took that fall!!
Susan, lol Skittles munching on her toast. quiet again...Ohhh, sure hope your plant sale is a success so it could be an annual thing, how fun.
Debbie, Oh gosh, Sorry to hear Paul has Gout! Sure hope some meds will wipe it out quick!
Wee you able to get your nap in yesterday? Hope so.
