Thanks for the new room Betty!

How about a picture of Dylan. Mamma did his hair silly, and she dressed him in his star trek onesie, as Mamma is a trekky!

Good Morning.

Good thoughts are with ya today Susan. Hope all goes well.

Does your new TV mean they will be coming over more Betty?...grin

Mary, he must be talking about Lyle at the Nature's Wellness Center. i have heard good things about him, and there was a commercial and a news article about a young woman with cancer that went there for palliative care while doing chemo. She spoke very highly of him.

Linda Kay, Little Mr Dylan had better learn to walk quickly...at that rate his Mom won't be able to carry him around...what a little cutie he is.

Debbie, glad you got Shane back to school and you home safely. How good The Child pitched in...perhaps absence is making the heart fonder.

Have a lovely day

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, was just going to bring your post over..
Bet you will get to spend the day gardening? Imagine, between the rain falling this morning were snow flakes yuk/yuk

No, boys won't visit more than they do now, just will enjoy watching their shows on bigger screen..have a larger screen in the basement rec. room but nobody ever seems to sit down there.

Jeff just e-mailed me, Julie love the stained glass piece..he get's to hang it up tonight and loved her fitness lift and was amazed at how he got all the main level rooms painted..guess he earned points there ..

Amazes me, sure didn't like painting when he lived at home lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Betty, you started the new thread while i was typing, so went ahead and moved it back into the fold...grin i am not sure how much gardening I will get done today...yesterday afternoon while pulling weeds I missed seeing the yellowjacket nest under the shrub where I was working...Yeow..one lucky little bugger nailed the back of my left hand...and managed to hit a vein. Not able to close my hand due to the swelling. Been eating Benadryl and using lidocaine swabs. Promised DH if the swelling doesn't go down today i will see the doctor. For most folks, Benadryl makes them sleepy...not me...it hypes me up something fierce so I am a onehanded whirlwind today...grin

Glad Julie liked her stained glass...amazing what son's can accomplish when they are in love..grin

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Jean, do please go and get yourself checked out..can do mega damage to your nerve system..ouch and double ouch!!

Lyndonville, NY

Jean, did you use a baking soda poultice on the back where you were bit? It helps draw out the poison. I have also heard toothpaste and also tea bags. Get some treatment if it is that swollen.....my daughter ended up with a necrotic lymph node from a bee sting and was NOT fun.

Verona, ON

Thanks so much for the new room Betty.

Oh LK our Dylan is just a cutie! Love the hair! How are the other kids adjusting to him?

Oh Susan can't ya just feel the love from everyone here. DG members rock!! We know you have probably looked at all of these sites but everyone doesn't want to leave a stone unturned. Sending positive thoughts about your meeting this morning. I guess by this time your appointment is over. Will check back in soon.

How is your pain this morning Debbie?

Things are pretty grim here this morning. My poor guy is not doing well. Sees GP tomorrow and the CC on Friday. Pain meds are no longer working. He refuses to eat but will drink his Boost. Hoping for some answers this week as I prepare myself for what I know is coming a lot sooner than I would like.

Wishing for sun - dull and rainy here. Maybe that is why I feel do down. Going for a walk after the cleaning lady leaves maybe that will help me shake this mood. DH will sleep sp I won't be worried about him while I am walking.

Mary, I will be waving at you tonigt... Suns of Guns is on

Dianne.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, Jean, those little buggers can hurt so bad, please go and get some treatment! Sounds like you are allergic to bee stings?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, so sorry to hear Warren is not feeling well! Praying for some good answers from the Dr. ((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, there just are no words! You and Santa Warren sure have been in my thoughts and prayers..wish there was something I could say or do that would make you feel better.

Hardest part with Roger was having to sit and watch him losing ground and absolutely NOTHING to be done..road of life is not easy!

Lyndonville, NY

Dianne, i am sore...not moving gracefully, but moving. Izzy was right at my side walking to fill bird feeder.

Shane said it perfect...and could be whats going on. "Mom you have been a giant knot for six months....your coming untied, and your muscles are loosening up."
He may be right...but those muscles being tight kept me upright.....I am just so so wobbly.

Verona, ON

See Debbie, Izzy knows you might need her so she is not going to let you wander off.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, sorry to hear how badly you are feeling! How many more treatments before you decide if you should continue or not?

Must be on same train of thought, just went to pet shop downstairs in the mall and bought fish food for the koi and birdseed for the birdies..almost a sin to feed them knowing Missy likes to hunt..will try to fill the highest of the feeders.

This morning while doing laundry saw a big gallon glass jug, remembered I was to make a squirrel feeder that I had posted directions for ions ago..should really make one..lots of squirrels right now also eating birdseed..

Lyndonville, NY

I have fresh raw peanuts out in my feeder in the front for the squirrel. She is "due" any day with her babies and poor thing can barely walk. Would love the instructions for the squirrel feeder if you have them. I was looking for one of those when we were at the craft show and didn't see one.

Betty, I have to see a neurologist on April 27, will know more then. Chiro is basically just doing stretches and slight alignments until I see Neuro. He is very concerned he would do more damage, so until he gets the go ahead from Neuro he is just helping with what he can.

Dianne, I usually have Izzy at my side if I go out. And in the house it is her and 3 cats on me...my supervisors.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's good news that he doesn't think he can fix all and admits it..sometimes they continue and as he says does more damage than good!

Inquisitive bunch of furries Debbie..lol
OMG this morning when I got up I could hear scratching at the back door..guess Sailor went out when Greg came with the t.v. and I never noticed, off to bed I went, poor gal, she spent the night on back deck, knows if she pushes the screen door it will open and let her in. Likely she and Riley slept on my new patio set lol

I do have the book Debbie and will scan and post..believe it might have been Liz/Judy and a few others that made the squirrel feeders..hm might be a weekend project seeing as they are calling for rain all weekend.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, put a collar with a bell on the kitties, that will keep them from catching the birds, as they will hear the bell jingle.

Glenview, IL

Good Day Everyone!!

Finally got a chance to come and say hello.
We have been back from Florida for a week now.
As we were driving home, My brother called to say he was on his way from Wisconsin!!
Hello, we are not home...so He went on to visit some friends in Indiana...He and Char then came here and left on Saturday.
We had a wonderful visit and as always hated for them to leave.

While in Florida, We Had a Spectacular visit with Thunder and Dave!! The first was having lunch at their beautiful home!
Yeppers, we did Hug each other up for everyone...and it was so Cool to see the birds. It felt so right at home, walking through, seeing Thunders beautiful work throughout her home...Dave's quite the artist too, as are all of her Boys! Of course, I headed directly to Thunders Craft room, OH MY, it was fabulous and one can just feel creative heartbeat. LOL, it was very much like walking into a a mini fabric store...I just loved seeing the many projects in the works, and i was really delighted to walk away with a few tips on how to display and work on different projects as well as hearing what was for whom!! We also got to meet Waylan, their youngest son. what a delightful guy. He was brave and took the kids on a little tour where he allowed Jacob to drive...Do you know for me, it was just Divine to wrap arms around each other again. in case i haven't told you Thunders Arm wraps are pretty powerful!! And..I was so excited when i got the chance to meet Susan via telephone...
The next day Thunder and Dave came to the resort and we had a nice BBQ and visit at the pool!!
Our friend Judy came to visit us at the resort as well. She will be loosing her job soon. But she is pretty ok with it. She has been with the company for more then 21 years and is ready for a change. She will remain in Florida though as shes come to love her home there...
On the way home we stopped in Georgia for lunch with Deborah (DG's Cordeldawg) or better known to many of the Sistah's as our Georgia Peach...It was just incredible to see her again and Wrap my arms around her. And, We got to meet Momma, a lovely women and Deborah went and picked up Riley, her absolutely adorable 2 yr old grand daughter. Deborah watches her a couple days of the week...

Well, I can tell you how incredibly awful it is not to have a computer. This just is the pits! But, with not having one, it is pretty cool to have been able to chat with some, because you all know how blabby i can be, lol...
I am still pretty blown away by the tragic loss of Sue's daughter. I had a couple of prayer fires for her and most likely will have a few more.
it just amazes me how supportive our friends are.

Ok, i've got to run for a little bit.

I miss you all so much.
Will try and come back in a little while...Alissa left her laptop. Kind of weird, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
This drives me insane, but at least DH can check his e-mails now and again.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Welcome back Judy, missed you! Just knew you would have a marvellous visit with Thunder and her family. I met Waylan the year I dropped by..was impressed as he couldn't do enough for Cathy and I. You will have to have Alissa forget her laptop more often lol

You would barely have arrived home when your company arrived..another fun visit.

So your vacation was all you wanted in a vacation???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought we might have heard from Susan by now..even with time difference she should be back home???

When days are filled with sunshine,
How close we hold a friend;
It's good to share the laughter,
the dreams that have no end.

And it's fun exchanging,
Some episode of fun
And finding much in common
In all that you have done!

But when the days are shadowed,
Perhaps with pain or grief,
The bonds of friendship tighten,
Almost beyond belief...

And the burdens aren't so heavy
When someone takes your hand;
And not a word is needed,
To prove we understand.

The world would be so lonely,
In sunny hours or grey,
Without the gift of friendship
To help us every day!!!!

LK - I got several leads from the Oil & Gas Job Fairs - Thanks!
The one for Alberta Job Fairs - all but 2 were in another city, and one of the two was for Youth, while the other one isn't until May 23rd... Hope I have a job by then... anyway, we'll see - I will take note of that one Job Fair.
The ALIS one - they have a LOT of info sessions I could go to.

As for the meeting today at Alberta Works - we got there at 7:30, and waited until 10:30, got out at 11:00. We have to fill out another form, take it in and get it witnessed for our signatures. IF they decide to help us, it will get directly into the Utility's acc't :-)
We should know later today or tomorrow if they've approved it as a one-time loan.
We did pick up a lot of pamphlets and booklets relating to assistance in all areas of getting/keeping jobs and other practical assistance.

Thanks all, for your support and caring.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

OH - old-thread-poster.......... ooooooooooopsie!! LOL
Thanks for 'carrying it over' Debbie :-)

Lyndonville, NY

I am happy....my 30 year old dryer was taken away. And my new maytag is in place and ready for its first load! Maybe I can dry clothes in one cycle instead of 3 now!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh happy days Debbie..you'll be washing everything before it's even dirty just so you can use that new dryer. Have you been taking it easy today?

Susan, let's hope you hear shortly so you don't spend another wrestless night..

Drats, freezing, chilled..hope Greg and the boys don't mind grandma in her nighty!!

Lyndonville, NY

I am on my second load of laundry washing....1st is in the dryer. WHY do they put lights in the dryer? Maybe so I can check and see if the cat is in there before I turn it on!!! He likes to help.

I made a big pot of potato & ham soup, I just love that and it is so easy and comfort food!

DH went over to mow an elderly neighbors lawn for her, DS usually does it but being out of commission I am sure Mrs. B has DH in the kitchen and making him cookies! God Bless her, she is 94...and ya just can't slow her down!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, maybe it's so the sock thief won't take a chance of steeling the odd sock..hmm that's a good question...Jean, something for you to investigate lol

You are cutting grass already? Guess so, I was telling Darlene on Sunday that likely this weekend I'd be cutting..that being said, you know Cathy, she cuts my lawn every Friday so perhaps I'd best not attempt it incase I hurt her feelings..imagine, cutting grass and we are not even through mid April. Nice of Paul to help her out..she'll love to bake him cookies if she thinks it will please him. Is it the beginning of next week that he goes back to work...drats I'm a scatter brain, am sure you said when

Lordy your soup sounds just the thing to have..when I'm at the Christmas Tree I always purchase those bags of soup, maybe I could cook one up and just add ham that is cooked and frozen.. enough for 8, wonder if Greg and the boys want to come back tomorrow night!

Suzanne's tummy is giving her trouble, wonder if perhaps we ate something at the pizza joint.

Lyndonville, NY

Yes, Paul goes back on Monday. Mrs. B always has juice & cookies for when Shane comes to mow...she has for about 3 years now. The church referred Shane to her...and she will have no one else, except DH....and Shane better have a reason why he can't that is legit!! She just loves talking with him.

I will send you or post the recipe here...it is so very simple.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm going to be making potato soup - after our meeting this am I went to the little wholesale fruit & veg shop - $3.99 for 8 lbs of russet potatoes! Good price when the local grocery stores sell the same for
Not sure when I'll have the energy to do it, but I will - looking forward to comfort soup.......

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Debbie - I have everything but the ham, however I have pork roast, and I think that should do it.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks For the recipe Debbie..bet it's yummy!

Greg and Noah were here at 5:30pm..tv connected..actually takes less room than the big cabinet..heard a 'I told you so' from Greg who connected it and when Jeff called to see if ok..lol. Must say I don't know what I did when I raised these 2 boys but I must say I did one heck of a job!! Good boys..

Had spaghetti, made containers to go and they've left for home..Kyle wasn't feeling well so he didn't come but grandma sent him din/din.

Now it's bathtime, nightie and early to bed.. Very doubtful I'll make the night shift tonight.

Susan any news??

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

No news, Betty - not until tomorrow anyway. Maybe Thursday. When/IF we get the $$, they will send it directly to the utility.

Verona, ON

I will vouch for the recipe Debbie posted. It is outstanding. DH and I both love it! Easy to make too.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello to All !

Night Shift is late tonight.... DG was "out" most of the night... wonder what that was about ?

Deb... congrats on the new Dryer ! That soup sounds so yummy ! Yes I suppose you are just a knot untied like Shane said but I hope the Neurologist gives the go ahead ... I think a full time schedule at Chiro would be helpful...
JUDY! YAY so good to hear....great trip to Florida and Georgia... my 'stomping grounds'....

((HUGS DIANNE AND SANTA WARREN))) Hope the Dr. can come up with another plan. I just cant imagine. sigh....
will go outside and jump up and down and wave so you will see me when the show comes on....
Hubs usually watches that...he is watching some New Orleans cop show now...

LK - LOL on baby Dylan - a trekkie already !

Jean.... Great info on Job Fairs... I'll say... it's my 3rd year of selling Job Fair Booths for WAFB and it's been the easiest ever. I "take" that to be a good sign. People are hiring. Maybe just here... but if so... hopefully that will spread. If not then hopefully in Susans area too. Yes I think it might be Natures Wellness. Got my Dr records ordered today will try to bring them. LOL... I'm the same way.... had antihistamines prescribed last year and could not sleep a wink.

Suse - never heard of KY Spearmint but wish you could go to our Swap cuz I saved some oregano and marjoram for Kris/Elf and now she can't make it... I could have passed on to you..... (HUGS)
Betty you remind me of me.... I try to wash cajun hubs cast iron or frying pans in dishwasher and get a stern "no no".... Love your prayers....

yes - you did incredible job on the boys...what a wonderful feeling.... hope I can have that feeling one day....

(HUGS)

Good Morning

Hope the day is kind to you all.

Each day something new pops up in the garden...I love spring...

morning all, light mist this morning but warming up, either that or the winds have died down and doesn't quite feel as cold.

What a morning, got up, not sure if it was Sailor or kitties, but someone was ill on living room rug sooo started by taking my rug cleaner machine out and doing the rug..remembered it was garbage day so out I went to set the garbage at the curb, at same time took the bag of fish food out with me to feed the koi, NOT THINKING I filled 3 birdfeeders..omg realized what I had done, off to get a brush and dustplan and rid the feeders of fish food..can you imagine, I may have killed all the neighborhood birdies had they ate it..

Then off to post office to mail fabric to Barb, filling in my address and had hers 1/2 marked..drats..had to do some scribbling there..

BUT on the good side, called both Jeff and Greg and told them just how much they mean to me, how proud I am to call them my boys..just maybe I should be doing that more often as they are always doing things for me. Greg said, 'mom, what are you buttering me up for' sooo did not tell him about the stainless steel waterfall unit I want him to build me for Mother's day, will keep that for another time. lol

But after I left the post office section of the drug store I passed the magazine rack looking for gardening books, already had what they had in stock but did find a new quilt book called
"QUILT Your Stash!' it's a how to stitch yours scraps into bags, quilts, pillows and more..projects from Joan Ford's Scrap Therapy program..had to buy

Am smilling, all this and it's only 9:11 am

Jean, just have to see your gardens..perhaps if I head that way (as planned) with the girls on our annual roadtrip, might be able to do so, IF ok with you..know I'll be meeting up somewhere with our Mary..other 3 girls are married and it's 'have to wait to see what hubby thinks'

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I have done the same thing, go to feed the birds, and have something else in my hands. Your not alone!

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!!

Yes Betty, our vacation was all we wanted, for me seeing friends. Watching Dad and kids just able to spend time together, and most importantly DH getting a very well deserved rest!! last but not least a daily kiss from the sun...wink & a smile/came home with a tan!

Oh and forgot to tell you, but think Thunder already did, Highlight of visiting Thunder...We added a ribbon to the fence in honor and safe keeping of Vince...

OH my goodness, just look at that beautiful Dylan!! Wow a big boy for sure...Congratulations again Linda Kay and Heather.

Bev...Waiving hello!! Think of you all the time. Glad to see you've been keeping busy...always lovely to see your photos, hope your not over doing and getting your rest in too.

Dianne and Santa W. I saw you had some rather tough days. Hoping SW is feeling better and i do hope you are able to rest in a bit too.
I love the story of your prayer shawl!

Moon, my Moonie!! So Sorry to see you were stung, How is the hand? I sure hope the swelling has gone down. Had to giggle about the ramifications of bendryl...I can surely picture you whirling around...Oh my gosh, thought about you while watching the sun sets and always on the Moon!! Wow, got a glimps of a spectacular moon while in Florida...It was a crescent that was resemblance of a smile, which did make me smile back. Just had to take a photo...But the neatest thing was the huge star just above it. Zoomed in on it and oh my what a great ball of gas, or i was thinking it was actually a planet...Very, very exciting! lol, heck if I know what planet though!!
...OMG, what great advise on how to find missing things!! lol where were you when i lost my wallet?? Anyhow, Jacob forgot his lock combo...Told him to close his eyes hands on lock and concentrate on last time he opened it, said he did, told him try again, he said he will so i'll let you know the outcome.

Crissy...Saw you and Dave went on a little trip...So glad you had a good time! Also saw you have been crazy buzy again at the job front...sure hope things calm down for you soon.

Debbie, My Gosh Girl!! What can i say, except wish i could just wrap my arms around you!! I just don't know how you deal with all the going ons you go through! Was so bummed about Shanes break!! can only sigh, and say Stupid Skate Boards!! i hope he heals pretty quick and it doesn't hinder his school too much. How exciting about your new dryer, woohooooo! OMG, I was about to grab your 2x4 for my dryer was going through crazy dry times for a time, thankfully it was just needing a good vacuume!

Susan, Awe, it sure was a pleasure to chat with you for a minute! I hope things work out well for you...
It's always good to see how much loving support you get from your Church and friends here at DG!
One day at a time and lots of Faith!

Mary!! Waiving hiya...Thought about you the whole time in Florida! We stayed in the heart of Kissimmee, but the only "touristy" thing we did was Bike ride across a cable!! Yikes had to pedal a mile around, uh lets just say it was quite the experience and now unless theres a motor on the bike, will never...ever do it again!!...The view was great about 30' above ground...The Conservatory was just incredible and we did see a few alligators, one being old George, he quite ornery so they actually had to pen him in, and we saw a few baby ones!
...Dear sweet girl, I was sorry to see your having such a dispute with DS...So glad you are sticking to your 'guns' kids just have to be reminded of there place. hard as it is to do...But i hope things are better for you all...Hope things are going well on the job front! Hey is your friend still there and do you get to inter-work with each other?

ooops, have to get jake to school...Be back in a few to finish!...

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning

(jumping up and down) HI Judy. Glad you had such a lovely trip/visit. Yup that was our smiling moon...and Mars above it...Florida is beautiful this time of year...lots of sun but not too hot to enjoy it.

I ran across this and thought it was cute.

ALL I NEED TO LEARN ABOUT LIFE I LEARNED FROM THE EASTER BUNNY!

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Walk softly and carry a big carrot.

Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.

There's no such thing as too much candy.

All work and no play can make you a basket case.

A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention.

Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.

Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.

Some body parts should be floppy.

Keep you paws off other people's jellybeans.

Good things come in small-sugarcoated packages.

The grass is greener in someone else's basket.

An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare.

To show your true colors you have to come out of the shell.

The best things in life are sweet and gooey.

Hope you all have a sweet gooey day

Somebody forget their laptop again Judy??? glad they did so you get to gab with us..
Know how hard Steve works so a blessing he got to rest and interact with family. That wallet of yours must be somewhere close..what did St. Anthony say? How's the quilt coming along? Did you change the telephone number on your job description and get some sent out? so many questions lol

Judy, was funny, when I met up with Paul and Debbie at the craft show a local nursery had an exhibit of a gardenshed/greenhouse done with windows..high pitched roof type..guess who was looking closely and wanting one..measure it out mentally (now I forget) lol dear Paul said he'd bring his trusty tools while the gathering was happening..wasn't that sweet??? yep..but told him no, want the guys coming to sit/relax/sightsee and maybe even fish lol but it was a beaut wasn't it Debbie?

Debbie, have you spoken to Shane, is the pain still as bad? Did Paul bring home cookies?

Jean, loved this morning's photo's..wish I had something blooming in my gardens besides weeds.. loved the Easter Bunny rules.
