General Discussion & Chat: Today, I am thankful for...#12

Longview, WA(Zone 8b)

Hi All,
I just had the Honor of sitting with Lyle, who had a stroke last fall, while his bride had an appointment.
I read a couple of chapters in a book I am fond of and beat him in 2 games of Aggravation.
I am so Grateful to be able to serve him. I am reminded that simple acts of kindness take so little
effort and are so appreciated. I know I have been chosen for just times like these.

I'm grateful for my loving father & step mother who called to sing me happy birthday and for the tile man who is grouting my new kitchen back splashes today.

Thankful Summer is here, flowers blooming and DH almost home for the day. And for the young boy riding his skateboard up and down our street with a mohawk on his helmet. Makes me smile.

Soreness is getting better so am grateful to get around a bit better . My Gracie had a small stroke Sunday . That's what the vet suspects . I think it was an epilectic (where is my spell check ?)She is her old snotty self again .She won't get in my lap unless I'm in the recliner . She's afraid I might look at her close .So thankful to have her a little longer altho the vet said she is in exellent health for 14 yrs old

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

We're still squishing. Loads of rain yesterday. Enough that we got off the highway and took shelter in a grocery store. Thankful the grocery store had a nice cafeteria so we had dinner.

Thankful we had a relatively nice weekend. Just a light rain this afternoon.
And thankful to have my father in my life.

I'm thankful for my three cats!

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Tam - Cute kitten box or cat catcher.

Cville - Cats are great.

Grateful that I have let go of my full time and unpaid volunteer position.

somewhere, PA

Thanks Susan. That's Zephyr. What is it what cats and boxes?

I'm grateful to be cooking again with the kitchen back on-line after a few months of renovation work.

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Must remind them of when they were little. Most kittens at my house were in boxes with old clothing in it.

How is the kitchen going?

Grateful for a walk with the DH tonight. Humid though.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have one cat that's drawn to boxes like a magnet. Couldn't resist for anything. The other two are curious but seem to be able to pass them by sometimes. It all depends on whether they are by themselves to do as they please or the others are hovering around scoping out the box as well. They are so funny.

Today I'm thankful for the beauty of nature.

I love finding a kitty sleeping in a box I've left out. Zephyr also has 2 shopping bags that she's claimed as hers. They are all flattened out so she's no longer inside them but instead will rush over to lay on top of one or the other.

Today I am thankful for Natures Secret Weapon odor remover. One of my kitties pee'd on a drape and I thought it was a total loss. But an overnight soak & then wash in woolite, and its got no odor I can detect. And made it through looking fine, despite being "dry clean only" on the label. :-)

Susan - Kitchen work just needs a few final items - paint on soffet & clean up of places hit after painting, one light switch has a problem and a new hose spigot for the deck (was part of the reno but not actually part of the kitchen.) So almost done!

I bet you will be happy to have the kitchen back and functional.

It is funny how they interact with one another.

Hi Friends,
I'm Grateful for my bride of 47 years. We were gone celebrating so have just reported back.
I am eternally grateful that she puts up with my dumb remarks and being male.
So Grateful Our Lord chose her for me; it seems almost as though it was yesterday.
Where has the time gone? I know, life!!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

That's great. Congratulations! Yes, where does the time go?

Today I'm thankful for healing in my life.

Happy 47th Anniversary!

Congratulations lonejack! Sounds like she got a winner too. :-)

I'm grateful for iPhone Apps! I'm heading off for a trip to Zurich & then botanizing in the Dolomites of Italy. My dad was going to join me but had a problem with his foot. So I am on my own for three days in a foreign city. Was very nervous 'cause I just get lost easily but now feel very comfortable & confident with a wonderful app on my iPhone.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Have a great trip. I know you will.

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Happy Trails!

Grateful a program went well today!

Longview, WA(Zone 8b)

Hi Tammy,
We used to tell someone who was going hunting out in the sticks.
"Take a deck of cards along, if You get lost, sit down and play a game
of solitare; some fool will Always show up and tell you how to play the game."
Have a Great Trip!!!

somewhere, PA

I am happily checked in to my Zurich hotel. So far, no issues. I will take a nap and then explore. Will bring my deck of cards. ;-)

I decided it was time to revive this thread.

My last post was before my world went upside down. Double tragedy hit my brother & family last year. They were in a deep black hole for a long time but are slowly finding a few moments of joy and peace each day now. I am so very grateful that I was able to be there for them and most especially that their darkness is slowly lifting.

And today I'm grateful to have my new oven fixed and a troublesome raccoon trapped & now released 20mi away on state game lands. Its the small joys that add up to a happy life (IMO)

Tam

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Glad to hear they are doing better, that the oven is fixed, and the raccoon is elsewhere.

I'm grateful for all the rain that we have had this year.
