Straight up

Dahlonega, GA

You'll laugh but that makes my tongue tickle and my mouth pucker . Astringent. Gotta have lemon and sugar .

somewhere, PA

Oh - try the Stash "Wild Raspberry" which actually is hibiscus (no raspberry). Its sweet w/o any sweetener. I drink mostly herbal teas. I'm not a big fan of the really astringent tanic teas - I'll add honey to those.

Today I am so grateful for a gorgeous fall day! I drove to Phila for a rock garden meeting & a stop at Penzey's Spice. The trees were in peak color, the sun was shining and the sun was blue with white fluffy clouds. Wonderful.

Stash Ginger lemon is also good and herbal. I like my tea straight up also.

:-( on the too many days spent setting up and not getting to see the show.

Grateful for out of town dance weekends.

Dahlonega, GA

I should try other teas .Are they good iced ?

somewhere, PA

I've never had an herbal tea that wasn't good iced too.

I'm so grateful for my family. I met my dad(who lives aboutr 3hrs away), sister & brother in law (in from CA) at Lancaster smorgesbord for dinner. We're a quirky bunch but no drama & lots of love & respect.

Sometimes hybiscus and rose hips get to be too much as in used too much in teas. I also like to take a piece of fresh ginger and make tea with it. All of the Stash herbal teas I've had are nice. We grow our own chamomile and mint herbs. We use fresh in the summer and dried in the winter to make teas.

Sounds like a nice family to be in.

Grateful that someone mowed up the leaves today.

BTW - Love jumping in the piles of leaves this year.

(Zone 7a)

Sounds like your family is like ours. It doesn't matter how long we've been apart, when we do get together, it's like we saw them yesterday. So grateful for them all.

Today, thankful for the abundant rain we've been having, the job going well and for nachos.

somewhere, PA

Thankful for fall apples. I have been baking them with a little honey. Oh so good!

Tam

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

DH is trying baked apples for the first time. How do you make yours?

grateful for and love fall apples, pumpkins, and squash.

somewhere, PA

I just cut in half, remove the core with a melon baller, put a little honey in the center and bake (covered with foil) at 325/350deg for about 25min / til done.

Thanks. I'll pass that information on.

Grateful for rain and for all the tomatoes that we got this summer.

Dahlonega, GA

I use brown sugar and butter , cinnamon .

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

That also sounds good.

He tried walnuts, dried tart cherries, and brown sugar. I think the issues were that he didn't cover the apples when they were cooked and also cut the sugar too much.

Grateful for a frost last night as it starts the process of putting the rest of the garden to sleep.

somewhere, PA

I decided I didn't like the butter. Amazing.

I'm grateful to have a generator going into this nasty storm on its way.
Tam

Dahlonega, GA

A very light sprinkle of salt makes a substitute

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Hope you don't need to start the generator up. BTW - There was a tip about putting a remote thermometer in the freezer when the power goes off to see if the temps go above 40.

I like adding more of the spices.

somewhere, PA

I've read you put a bag of ice cubes in a zip lock bag. Even if they refreeze you still know the temp got above 32 if they are no longer in cubes. My freezer has a temp readout so when the power comes on, I can see the inside temperature.

I feel like calling in sick today and spending some time cooking. It might calm my nerves a bit. Its just so nasty outside! Or maybe I should just shut off the radio - I listen to a Philadelphia station and its just so scarey listening to all the warnings.

I'm grateful to be living above the floodzone and out of the reach of the storm surge.

Tam - I sent you an email.

Grateful for warm, dry house and leaves turning color.

mulege, Mexico

That's a nice one Katie!

Today I'm grateful for working phones, the internet & hot water.

Tam

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

I agree that's nice one.

Are you back up and working?

I'm grateful for a nice weather day. The leaves are dropping and it's just very pleasant.

somewhere, PA

We just got power! I am very grateful to all the utility crews working around the clock to restore services to the east coast!

Dahlonega, GA

Happy dance .

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Happy to hear that your power is back up. I've been hearing reports that more areas have power now. I think staging just outside the storm worked well. They are at least already in the area and rested up instead of having to still drive. Usually KCP&L send complete crews from here to help out. It's a full two day drive plus to get to the east coast from here.

I'm grateful for early voting, people who are willing to work the election voting places, and for beautiful weather this week.

Dahlonega, GA

I'll tell you what I'm grateful for , or not , when the election is over . LOL

somewhere, PA

I am happy to have landed safely in Ca and to find it warm enough this evening to skip the jacket

Tam

Dahlonega, GA

I'd love to spend some time in CA .

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Have a good trip!

Grateful for a dry & warm house, Cats cuddling together on the chair, and that everyone in the household is doing well.

Hi all,
I have just discovered this thread.
I am so Grateful to be alive!! I was attacked by the skin-eating disease, Nacrotizing Fasciitis, 5 years ago. I am told
that only about 1% of people my age and and sick as I was even survive. I walked out of the Hospital. Yes, it has
taken 5 years for me to get to a place where I feel as though I can plan to do much of anything.
I am so grateful for grandkids, one of which graduated from kindergarten last Friday.
Grateful to be able to watch the seasons last soccer games; one granddaughter and grandson each scored.
Grateful to be able to replant wicking boxes with broccoli today.
His and Your Very Grateful servant, Paul.
