Thanks Susan , he's precious to everyone that knows him .
General Discussion & Chat: Today, I am thankful for...#12
I sure hope someone brings me a margarita when I'm in that place in life Digger. We all come to that point sometime and it would surely be nice to have friends to bring a smile then!
I'm grateful to have gotten through a very rough week and to enjoy a nice glass of wine to toast the start of a weekend at home.
Tam
Home ! Such a beautiful word .
Indeed!
I'm thankful for Norman going from a tropical storm headed our way to a tropical depression headed for the other side of the Sea of Cortez.
Thankful that tony's father is better after having a heart attack and spending five days in the hospital 35 miles north of here.
Thankful to be recovering from my knee replacement surgery.
hugs, katie
Thankful it's a little rainy today . Means I can work inside without guilt .
thankful its cool & not rainy today here so I can work outside today. :-)
Tam
It's cooler here, too but warmer than last week. ^_^
Thankful for family.
Thankful for a nice sunny day and the house to myself (Plus pets) yesterday. Also thankful for long time contra dance friends.
I'm thankful for finding this thread.
I hope it stays cool enough to stop for breakfast on this three day trip . It can get too hot to leave dogs in car . If not , it'll be at fast food , eat in car .I haven't had two of them long enough to trust leaving the windows all the way down , and never take chances with heat .
So thankful for D H that doesn't mind driving , or back seat drivers . (Me ) lol
Today I'm grateful for another lovely and cool fall day today. I'm off the Farmers Market with a friend. There's a vendor that offers the best asian pears I've ever had there.
Tam
Oooooo! Asian pears are heavenly.
Yum!
How do you pick out a good Asian pear? The ones we've gotten from the store have been more like cardboard then like a reqular pear.
Thankful a good nights sleep and people who are willing to do heavy labor.
I never buy them from the store. I either buy from the vendor or farmer's market.
Agree! I just pick for the size I'm looking for when I buy from the source at our Farmers Market. They sell HUGE ones and I prefer the smaller ones (which are similar in size to large apples.) I don't buy the supermarket ones.
Tam
I am grateful that our water is turned on and I'm able to do some laundry. kb
I've never seen asian pears at the farmers market here.
Thankful that the sprinkler people are gone for the day. They run a plow type machine to install the pipe and it makes a lot of noise.
Thankful for a productive day at work and a happy boss.
Tam
Lost a day and a half on count of the much needed rain . Thankful I have most everything packed and loaded for the trip south .
Travel safe Digger!
Thankful for a delicious home cooked meal after a rough day in the office. (And still a happy boss)
Tam
Thanks , Tam , and I'm going to have a sandwich and watch the debate . Remember , don't discuss politics .
Grateful that it's Thursday since that means Saturday will be here sooner.
LOL Susan! I assume that means you have a fun day planned for Sat?
I'm grateful to fit in a really good workout today. I had let my exercise lapse due to work, travel & vacation for almost 4wks. I'm on week two of being back in to my workouts. My pledge to myself - focus on the work/life balance as I plan a lot more life than I do work.
tam
LOL. No... At the time I wrote that I thought the sprinkler installation guys would be done and gone by Friday night. So grateful means it would be quiet. I found out today that they will be here on Saturday trying to finish up. So now I'm grateful that Sunday is coming soon.
I hear ya .
Texas is cool at night and hotter'n h - - - in day . Whewwww!
I am grateful to belong to the rock garden society. They are hosting a "study weekend" in Pitts where there will be tours (guided by plant-maniacs/experts) of the Phipps Conservatory and several state parks in the area. I'm leaving tomorrow morning with a couple of friends.
That sounds like fun. Have a good time.
Today, I start my new job.
Kwanjin - that's great! How did it go?
Only orientation or 'Expecptations' as they call it. It sounds and looks like it's going to be fun. I start actual work next Monday at another location. The site where I was hired to work hasn't opened yet. It's a new Imax theater in thd mall near my house.
Congradulations on the new job!
Grateful for Heat in the house. It's getting colder outside.
I'm grateful for friends who share my interest in rock gardening.
Tam
I wish we were in an area that had active rock garden group. Are you already planning for the next garden show?
Thankful that the sprinkler guys, HVAC, and plumber are done with their work. Also thankful for nice fall weather with beautiful colored leaves.
Thankful for the bit of rain we had last week and for the sunny days coming. For phones that can receive pictures of grandkids.
Glad the Johnson grass that greeted me in Texas is growing in sand and my back is limber enough to dig it with a spading fork . Many breaks for tea and should have it all in another week .
I'm grateful for the bounty of the garden this year. I just stuffed the last of the peppers. We'll enjoy kale for a while yet but everything else is through for the year.
Susan - yep. Gary is building a british telephone booth & a cut out of an alpine house for the exhibit. I've got bulbs on order to force & a bunch of semps & sedums and such to grow out for the show. The theme is England. (Philadelphia Flower Show for those who haven't heard me talk about earlier in the year)
Tam
Grateful for rain and cool weather. Also grateful that the grass seed is finally sprouting.
Sounds like fun. II'll be looking forward to seeing it. Best garden show we've been to so far. BTW - Do youhave pictures posted from last year?
Susan - its the largest indoor plant show in the world. I don't have photo's of the show - just some from setting up the exhibit. And they aren't organized well. I didn't go to the actual show last year - spent too many vacation days setting it up.
I'm grateful for a warm cup of tea to warm me up on a chilly night.
Tam
With lots of fresh lemon and a bit of sugar , Tam ?
