We had kielbasi both fresh and smoked, horseradish, cole slaw, mashed potatoes, veggies, rye bread
babka for breakfast, kids forgot to bring home the colored eggs from their aunt's house, this is the 1st year I didn't eat a colored egg for Easter breakfast :(

Yes, kugli is made with grated potatoes, onions, butter, evaporated milk & eggs....it's baked starting at 500, turning oven down every 15 min.....needs to be babysat! Comes out brown on top, inside like a potato pancake....

flowAjen - Sounds like a bardzo smaczne (very tasty) Polish meal.

The Greek restaurant we had brunch at yesterday was having a contest for guessing how many jelly beans were in a jar. My MIL was called and told she won, so we took them over there to get their gift basket and had lunch there. My wife's mom and dad each had a reuben sandwich and chips; my wife had a bowl of stuffed banana pepper soup and a wedge salad (wedge of lettuce, blue cheese, bacon tomatoes, onions, and balsamic) and I had the meat loaf dinner with gravy and mashed potatoes. Very, very delicious meal.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

there is a greek place that just opened up near here.. and delivers.. we are going to try it this week

DavEdsel, what does it mean to have a soup made of "stuffed" peppers????

Easter a.m., after 4:30 a.m. vigil (get there at 3:30 to get a good seat) I made my FIRST really good scrambled eggs. I'm almost 68.... I melted the butter at medium and then put four eggs gently mixed in the regular castiron pan. Added some heavy cream, about 1/4 cup grated Cabots Seriously Sharp cheese and salt. I forgot about them until the bottom layer had cooked, while the top was still liquid. I then began mixing as one does with scrambled eggs. Pretty soon they were done. Moist, but no runny bits. Delicious.

Today, baked eggs with creme fraiche, prosciutto and asparagus. Very tasty, but not worth the trouble. Recipe from the Boston Globe.

The reason for eggs two days in a row is the Globe article on eggs from free range chickens. They mentioned a store near us, so I got some and did a taste test with boiled eggs on Saturday (gave some to neighbors who said they were going on their Passover plates.) We couldn't detect any difference between free range and Star's cage free. Will try again in the summer when there's something good to eat on the range!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

ham sandwiches tonight (leftovers from yesterday)

Thomaston, CT

I have a hard time telling eggs apart....have never tried free range....well, guess I did growing up since my Grandma raised chickens that wandered all over!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Everything sounds so good. I L O V E ham and bean soup.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

LAS14, you asked "DavEdsel, what does it mean to have a soup made of "stuffed" peppers????"

Stuffed banana peppers (mildly spicy and a pale green in color) are usually filled with cream cheese. The soup (I had a few spoonfuls) was very creamy with small pieces of banana pepper. It tasted just like banana peppers filled with cream cheese. Very creamy, with a bit of a spicy kick. Delicious.

Thomaston, CT

Last night I baked a chuck steak with onions, carrots, & potatoes....have leftovers for tonight....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Made turkey sausage with big and small white beans and fresh spinach last night. Garlic, onion, red and black pepper and chicken bullion finished it off. Was delicious! I am using beans more and more. Great food.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I like beans a lot, and am using them more lately too.
I didn't think about presentation at all when I made dinner tonight, broiled whitefish, rice and corn. Tasted good but looked bland.

Thomaston, CT

Am using more beans & lentils, but today had chicken pot pie at the Red Lion in Stockbridge, MA.....it was yummy.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

You would not believe the asparagas I picked from my garden last night! There were a couple of "normal" sized stalks - but they weren't as good as these giants!

Lunch salad today contains mache and chives, asparagus, fennel, sorrel and baby argula from my garden. My co-workers call this "mowing the lawn".

Lunch is collard and kale greens with onions, cherry tomatoes and sausage over polenta.
