Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? visit with friends..

Lexington Park, MD

Sink is finally in and water hooked up. A day and ahalf. So glad DH did it and not me. Bath time for kids then to bed....night all.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan so glad you had a good HAPPY BIRTHDAY day!! You should probably check the birthday thread if you haven't done so yet.

Debbie you know how I feel about worrying about what others think. Who cares what they may or may not think, you are very very pretty, just because you may think that someone is better looking or nicer or younger or whatever doesn't matter. Dave's been harping at me all weekend because I've gained 20 of the 30 pounds that I lost back, saying that I'm prime to gain it all back plus 10 more, telling me that putting margarine on my baked potato has made me gain weight, a tablespoon of coffee creamer in my one cup of coffee did it WHA???? I told him I've been eating like a hog, that's what's done it, sheesh!

Dianne I am so glad Warren is eating again!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Betty it's been raining here all day, so no outdoor activities for me today. I've just been lounging in the house being lazy. Debbie has some great ideas about incorporating hearts into that design, it wouldn't be hard at all and it would blend in.

Mary and Debbie so sorry you're having to deal with the adult child. Oh how I remember those days, the difference is the day I turned 18 I had to be working and pay my own insurance and everything else I wanted, my mom didn't pay for anything, she actually started cutting me out when I turned 16, which forced my lazy butt to get out and get a job.

Well not sure what Dave wants to do, said he wanted to go out for a bit, which wouldn't hurt me to get out of the house and around friends, but he went to sleep. Maybe he went out in his sleep! LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

YEAH Laura!!! One huge project done!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yeeehhh Laura, bet it looks nice! If you were the, goffer and your hubby like Roger, know why you are off to bed at 9pm..lol. Our kids are on March break, you've already had march break ??
Are you still enjoying the new bed? Getting more rest?

Crissy, you hit it on the nail, doesn't matter what people think so why then do We and I mean We let it get to us...

Dave's words are fighting words gal..he had best take you out somewhere nice to eat after those comments.

Seems strange looking outside and not seeing white..would be a great night for a bonfire..maybe I'll keep stockpiling and keeping it,for the weekend.

Darren and his son took their shed out of the tree, did some repair and back on decking..think they can salvage it.

After being off 4 days I hate the thought of going in to work tomorrow..once I am back into routine all will be fine...if I didn't like money so much I wouldn't have to work..lol

Think I'll have a snack and off to bed

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Crissy - I got a d-mail to go to the Birthday thread, and did so.

Betty - Almost No Cooking. The scalloped potatoes were undercooked, so I added more sauce and put them back in the oven - 1 hour done, 1 hour to go......... For some reason they only cooked the potatoes for 3 minutes (boiling) then put them in a roaster with the sauce, for 1 1/2 hours. And they used red potatoes, not Yukon Gold or Russet. Red potatoes take longer to cook........... anyway, when the scalloped are almost done, Bob can do the steaks ($4.95 at WalMart!! wooo hoooo - I'm Scottish enough to appreciate That!!)

Betty, will the nurse be coming again to check blood prssure? When is the follow up appointment to check how you are doing??

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !
Betty - so wonderful Greg & you will get some one on one this week. Kids out of school... wow....
Crissy - yes - Hubs owes you a nice dinner with those comments. You're right... about that... I worked at 16, really younger. Never made DS get a job that early... hindsight 20/20. He will have to work tomorrow....I'm sure. no word from him.

Dianne... Jumping for Joy... so glad Warren had a little lamb ! (usually that's me! LOL) now just for those headaches to go away and things will be much better...
Deb - I am wondering and hope that perhaps those folks just are having hard times themselves and just not aware to realize they were coming off as snobby.... You are a beautiful lady.....anyone can see that....
Laura - so glad that sink is done...
me thinks hubby had something up his sleeve this morning... I caught him out turning over the veggie garden. He must have known I'd catch the bug.
We ended up at the nursery and I planted many of those plants I received in the swap last October. Wow - got my mind off of everything very well...
Plus got stuff done....He planted tomatoes, etc. I probably planted 9 or more swap plants ! and potted up a few for the next swap.

Hugs,
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

I am so envious of you gardening Mary! Oh how I want to go out and rake and uncover my beds. We have 50 to 60 degree temps predicted into next week. Lows at night in the 40s. THEN, you watch we will get a St. Patricks day snowstorm. It has happened many time and is well talked about.

DH & DS did get the steps done, then DS went out with friends. DH and I finished taxes and will be broke for the next 10 years.

Mary, you know what those girls reminded me of. NOW, remember we were all so close, like sisters. I was seeing a vision of Desperate Housewives in my mind. So much makeup, so many high heels and boots with skin tight jeans....maybe I was a bit jealous. BUT they were snobby, no doubt about it. I think what cemented the feeling was Darlenes DH coming up, giving me a kiss on the cheek and saying "your still beautiful to me". And I about cracked. ANYWAY that is history....live and learn I have enough drama here....and I don't think any of them could handle it without a bottle of wine or two.

Now did your DS take his clothes with him also? I am sure he is staying at the GFs house, yes? You did say her father was very strict. Give him a few days to cool down....prayers prayers prayers.

Update on Susie/Deejay9...

She said Dr thinks she has a virus. No blood clot was found. She will still have the stress test tomorrow. She hopes to be home from the hospital tomorrow. She sounds like she is worn out but she did not complain.

Sounds like you all have been busy today?

Baton Rouge, LA

Thanks LK for the update... what's Heather up to ?

Oh Deb... LOL.....I'll probably live to regret today.... we might just have one more freeze... I'll be out there covering the whole back yard up LOL....

Glad the steps and the taxes are done...Well - those gals are just ugly and simple. That will definitely come back to haunt them.....
Sounds like my "witchypoo" with her botox and $$$ purse. more substance in my life than that.
Yes - DS packed a small suitcase and took his TV from Christmas (???). I don't think Girlfriends Dad would put up with him... VERY Strict... I mean very. So he's prob at a friends house.

I'll come home for lunch tomorrow. No doubt there are plans to sneak in and get more stuff.

Yesterday I was hurt and sad. Today I tried to get angry. I mean... he has it MADE here... and doesn't realize it? plus he said some really hurtful things on the way out... trying to look good to his friends.

Gardening today put a lot into perspective. If I lose every last plant... will still be a day well spent.

What do you have planned this week Deb ?
(HUGS)
Mary

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Heather is still having contractions, but not close enough to do anything. She goes to the Dr. tomorrow afternoon, and she will find out then, what day she gets induced!
Mary, if I were you, I would change the locks to the house, so he can't take anything else. I had to do that with my son, as he knew when we worked, and he and his buddies came in and took things that were not his. We called the cops, and they got caught!

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Mary, those hurtful words are what leave the real mark. I have tried to teach the children about the things you can't take back once "throw" Such as objects, hurtful words and actions. They just don't get it. Just as "the child" is not here, she has burned so many bridges with me....I do not miss her....but I do worry about her. I know she needs this to grow....maybe that is what DS needs. To see the "other side of that green grass ain't so green either".

Remember Nate who was staying with us? He had it "so hard at his home, and he was nothing more than a child slave". HIS WORDS! Well, you know how it didn't work out here. And now, he is learning how to do chores with yet another family.....and that just maybe his Mom & Dad were NOT so bad. BUT he burned so many bridges there....they will not take him back. And he doesn't know WHY....he did EVERYTHING for them. It is a sad sad thing.

This week is going to be hectic. First thing I have to do is get ahold of my eye doctor. I have had some eye issue which started Thursday....and have gotten worse. THEN, I have to get groceries stocked in and stuff cleaned up tomorrow. DS is having friend stop up from College...this one he did NOT tell me about so I am not very happy. I don't go for strangers in the house...especially since I have never met this kid, and DS has not been on best behavior.

THEN Tuesday I have to take Izzy for her bath & grooming, again continue getting things ready for DH.....who is having his knee surgery on Wednesday morning. The rest of the week will be taking care of him, back and forth to doctor for recheck....and probably starting PT by Friday or next Monday. THEN, I will be the only one driving, and have to take DS back to college probably Sunday.

Did get the front porch steps rebuilt and I believe the back handrails I haven't even been out to look at them as the sunlight hurts my eyes.

I hope you are able to get some rest. Does DS have a key to the house? We actually brought our "spare hidden" key in....so no one has access if they don't live her. DD had a very undesirable BF who was caught stealing...and he knew where the key was hidden. SO, taking precautions that won't happen. AND...wouldn't put it past DD to come in and do her grocery shopping in my kitchen either.

Get some rest Mary....going to be a long week!

Hugs,
Debbie

Baton Rouge, LA

LK... Yes that has already crossed my mind... but Im not sure what to do as no one really has keys to the house... there are really no locks at all....

For so long there were always ppl here.... so no worries.....DS usually sleeps till at least noon or 3p or so...
So I'll pop in for lunch and hope to keep an eye on things.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Deb ! Yes - DS can get in... I'm sure...he actually tried to the night he left... but DH was there... so really not sure...

I think you are completely RIGHT about DS... he needs to "grow" and realize how he has it made here... we'll see...
this week will definitely be an "eye opener"....

(HUGS)
Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh LK - didn't realize that Heather was having contractions! Maybe Dylan will be born March 12?

Mary - one of these days when your DS grows up he will realize what he's been doing - maybe when he has teens/young adults of his own..........
That must be stressful for you, Mary, to have to go home at lunch just to check up on the house.......

Lyndonville, NY

Susan, Linda said she has been having contractions and dilated at 2 cm. since last week...poor girl! It is amazing how we keep having children after going through this to bring them into the world. LOL

I have an eye appt. at 11:30, was glad they could get me in but not my normal doc, one of his associates.

Have a good day
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, here I sit at work, not much going on here as it's March break..why oh why did I not stay home..lol

As I left the house this morning you could hear the birdies chirp, what a lovely sound!

Turned my head as I walked to the car, lordy the yard looks as though it was hit by a tornado..so many branches needing to be picked up..most leaves that were rakes and put in the back 40 are now back in the yard.

Promised myself that I will work 1/2 hour only, using timer, to work each evening that it's possible to be outside..mini steps!!!

Debbie, you haven't lost those contacts again have you???

Start of a new week, so hoping Mary/Debbie that things improve for you both..

Barb, is it today or Thursday you are off to the specialist? Keep thinking the 15th??? Hope something can be done to ease your discomfort..

Heather must be sooo frustrated!!!

Home Remedy:

1. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else tohold the vegetable
while you chop

2. A mouse trap place on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going
back to sleep after you hit the snooze button

3. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough

4. You need only two tools in life-WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct
tape

5. Never under any circumstances take a laxative and sleeping pills on the same night,
(especially if you have a bad couch)

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, those are just bad! LOL Good morning chuckles

No, didn't lose contacts, but have a horrible irritation in my eyes, they keep tearing and contact is really bothering me. It isn't red or pink looking like conjuntivitus....so don't know whats going on. With my eye disease, need to get it checked.

Supposed to be near 60 again today.

Have to get moving....dragging my heals!

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waiting to see the 'robins'! Lot's of chirping going on this morning but not spring till you see a robin...much the same weather here Debbie, makes you just want to go out and rake but I think more snow to come lonnnnggg way to end of March, can be nasty.

OMG no, don't take changes, not with eyesight!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning All!

I know I haven't been on or checked in for quite awhile, but have been very busy. My Dear Mother and best friend passed away Febr. 29. Her memorial service was this last Friday. My kids from Wis. and granddaughter from Florida were able to be here. That was good. Mom is in a better place and where she's wanted to be for a long time. It's a relief knowing that she is happy and not hurting anymore. She will be missed dearly. I will go up and help write out the thank you's tomorrow and bring back the excess stuff that's there.

I will start outside on cleaning up around the place and working on the flower beds as the temps are to be in the high 70's this week. Some of the spring flowers are starting to peek through. I am not working at all and haven't for awhile, but will have to get serious now that Mom is gone and I don't need to go help take care of her.

I think of you guys and just want you to know that even though I don't always respond you are all in my heart and prayers and hope all is well for everyone. God bless and keep you all in good health and happiness and know you are thought of often and loved.

Have a great day!

Love, Shirley

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, condolences on the loss of your MOM!!! You have no idea how often I wonder how you are doing..I should make a point of calling..I'm terrible with phones, but, no excuse.

Now that you have more time to look for employment it's gardening time and lots of work to be done outside, you just might want to put it off till fall..take a season to recoup.

Sending hugs...

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Prayers for you and yours Shirley. I lost mine when I was 12 yrs old. I am 67 and still miss her. LOVE BEV

That was really young Bev! What a loss...Did your dad remarry?

my grandmother who raised me was 99, mom is now 80..
Grandma died still being able to do all for herself..

Lexington Park, MD

So sorry for your loss Shirley.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Shirley - you're in my thoughts and prayers - so sad to lose your Mom...... and of course your best friend.
Mine is my best friend too, but she's in Winnipeg and I'm in Calgary. I spoke to her yesterday - she's 93 in May.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

93 is a good age Susan and she's somewhat healthy right? Grandma was May 18th.

Just got back from lunch..new store opened right next to Swiss Chalet, not good..all primitive house/yard decor..of course they had a rusted iron piece that I think would be perfect for my SG blue heron..going to $$ store on my way home, will purchase a couple of bristleboard, sketch him out and go back tomorrow and if it fits...voila, heron comes out from under the bed.

Darlene's birthday is Monday, saw two things..one is very similar to the trio candle block we did this year for workshop except in cement and a beautiful verse in memory of Mike, then rustic birdhouses..trying to decide..should I get her something for herself or something that could go in a garden should she wish to have a memory garden..don't want to upset her..drats, help me decide please

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Shirley, so sorry to hear you lost your Mom! (((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))

Update on Susie, she had a stress test done, and is waiting on those results, she is hoping to go home today, maybe tomorrow? She is feeling better, and on lots of antibiotics.

Betty - she's at home, uses a walker, and is forgetful (she almost forgot my birthday, and Did forget Bob's lol )
She told me yesterday that she's sending birthday cards to us.
Otherwise, she's very frail, but in good health. She lives at home, with my brother.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good news LindaKay, hopefully with meds she will be ok...she hasn't been well for awhile has she?

We should be so lucky Susan to live to such a ripe old age..good that she is with your brother and not have to be in home for the aged..drats, some days I think I should be in a house for the aged. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just talked to Susie, and she got home about 20 minutes ago. She is tired, and sore from all the blood thinner injections, but she is home and resting. She said she will try to get online tomorrow.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

well Betty - maybe when you're cooking......... need someone to make sure you don't leave the stove on LOL
I know of a few people that were "put" into a care home cuz it looked like they were going to burn their home down (teasin' Betty dear, just teasin'!!!!)

LK - good news about Susie!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, Andy just called, and unless she goes into labor before Mondy, she will be admitted Monday morning, and will be induced.
