Best/Worse/what did I learn today?chat with friends..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, call into Greg...promise..omg could have been so tragic..

Wanted to tell you some good, no great news..Braedon, Jeff's eldest got notification on Friday that due to exceptional grades/ leadership qualities has been accepted, chosen for the 2012 world youth leadership program..will be spending time in Washington D.C., one of the perks, meeting USA president, imagine that..don't have all the specifics but when I do I'll post..one excited and proud grandma..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty - I think that is the same thing that Brandon is going to be a part of as well.!!!!!!! Can you imagine our two grandsons having the opportunity to meet? OMG!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, how long will Brandon be in Washington and when?

Program also involves being at the UN..bet it is same program..omg wouldn't that be something..

scraves below..

Certainly something to check out..

Tired of being tired so am trying to play but play with things that are low energy..like jewelry boxes..does anyone even use jewelry boxes or are they just decorative nowdays.. sketching out, even if that's all I do it will be one step further than I was..

Think I'll bring Ariana's gift to work tomorrow and set it on my desk..too cute..don't you just love getting something from kids that is homemade?

Susan, when I spoke with Jeff at lunch he asked how you made down with downloading the books...

seems when I upgrade my ipad it deletes all my books so Jeff said when he visit in a few weeks he'll book 2,700 like he gave you on my laptop so that when upgrading happens I'll be able to reload the ipad..lots of luck I'm sure with this person who is virtually computer handicapped..

Tomorrow he'll call me and lead me through the process of putting my work outlook on to laptop (only thing that didn't get fixed)..

Betty and Barb proud Grandmas for sure.
Betty those boxes are very nice.
Could be a trinket box. I can see sea shells inside.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty & Barb - wow that's fabulous re: UN and president, etc!! Maybe they will meet?!?!..................
Betty - I sure DO use jewellery boxes! I have some glass holders as well, and sort them by colour - so if I'm wearing white I have pearls, if I want gold, that's in another, etc..........red, black, green - all sorted in different boxes lol

as for books - I need to make some space on my e-reader, cuz it came loaded with books and I want to make sure they're "garbage" before I delete them.
The program he had me download from the "stick" wasn't working for me at first, so I contacted Aluratek to see what program they recommended. I couldn't find the one they suggested, and all the books Jeff sent were "e-pub" so I had to do Something. I've now downloaded a whole bunch of books by James Patterson that Jeff sent.
I suppose I could read them off the computer, but that defeats the purpose of having an e-reader!
Anyway, I will delete those that I consider "garbage" or take up too much room and I'm not about to read anyway (Tale of Two Cities, f'pete's sakes!!)
Tell him Thanks again!!!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love the James Patterson books Susan, reading one now, well, when I do read..

Temps are falling, hardly did a thing and right back to Friday..sneezing, fever, so cold so it's back for hot bath and bed.

Can't believe that I felt fine this morning did not overdo..rested..went for the scarves, not 1/2 hour gone, was inside 4 days..drats and more dats, work tomorrow!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone! Wow, so much to read. Betty, sorry to hear about the problems with your Mom, and I agree, take her to the Dr. or have someone go on her behalf.
And please have your home checked for carbon monoxide poisoning. I have had it before too, and it can make your head hurt so bad, that it literally hurts to blink?

No baby yet, but I did have fun with Heather, teaching her to to cut fabric properly, and we made her first baby quilt. All the fabrics are her choice, as well as the pattern, but give me time, and we can make her into a quilter yet? she did not know anything about sashing, or binding. She does now! I will post a picture when I get to the computer.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, nothing more exciting than to impart some of our knowledge to younger generation and have them enjoy..can't wait to see the quilt!

Early but off to bed I go

Just a quick word of warning for you all. Van Bourgondien Bulbs has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy here in the US. Please do not place any orders with them...

LK - glad that Heather is "holding on" to the baby awhile longer yet - means for a healthier baby & mom!
A new quilter, eh? Good for you!

Hello To All !

Awe Dianne & Thea ! Almost feel like I was there in a way !

Maybe Moon/Jean will have coffee with me one day ? I don't bite ! LOL......

Susan - Love James Patterson.... seems like he wrote some YA Books that DS and I read....

YES - check out the carbon monoxide thing... we had a similar 'close call' story... you can't smell the gas.

LK - tell Heather... March 2nd OR March 10th.... we will take either date LOL

OH Barb & Betty! What an Honor... shucks... I"M Proud of the boys ! would be great if they met....

Betty - when you update your ipad I think there is a button to "back it up" first... then after update... you re-load it. (like I know what I'm talking about). Yes the Bday was great.... MIL Made Shrimp Etouffee.... DSD1 made us play some Improv games from her drama classes at college.... it was hilarious.....I swear when ever I get together with Betty & all of you gals I hope DSD is around and we will play them as well...
Laura - hope you are feeling better... bet you can't wait till you get all the pieces to the puzzle and get that bed put together

Verona, ON

Oh Mary, Shrimp Etoufee,,,,,,,, yum. Ya know I could pitch a fit cause I wasn't there to have some.lol Yes, I have been known to throw a hissy fit or tow in my life. It was so nice to read DSD1 is really reaching out to her family.

Thunder where are ya gal?

Betty hope you wake up feeling great. Going to remind you to get Greg to send someone over. I know Debbie has been beating this drum about carbon monoxide but maybe she is on to something. Do any of the other ladies not feel well after they have been in your house for a few hours? Thinking of Darlene this weekend, she is not far from my thoughts each day.

Barb what handsome grandsons and husband you have. You look fantastic too. My niece Melissa several years ago when she lived in Florida took part in the same programme as your Brandon and your DGS Braedon Betty are going to enjoy a wonderful experience.

Still cranky and down in the dumps going to go read soon and hope this feeling will go away.

Sweet dreams everyone!
Dianne

Morning, still no snow, can't believe we are in last week of February, I personally don't feel as though we've really had a winter! Ok with that as long as my shrubs and flowers don't suffer..

Heading to work this morning, still a bit yuk but am sure fresh air will do me good, besides, can rest just as well in my office chair than here.

Looked for email from Darlene to see if she is up to coming painting today with the girls, no email so perhaps she will make it..cleaned my nc raft room for them, now just have to turn heat down so I don't bake them.

Dianne, will tell Darlene she has been in your prayers....amazing almost the minute Mike went down she called and asked that you all pray..she has great faith in ability of prayer..from my often speaking of you she feels part of us..thank you for that!

Looking at the clock I best run, will gab when I get to work...

Pass me a coffee will you!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

Betty, if you have the crud, you should be at home getting lots of rest, so you don't have a relapse.

This is Heather and her first quilt. She is very proud, but I told her the next she will get better with each one!

Omg, LindaKay I can see her beaming from ear to ar!! How proud she will be to set it over the little one when born March2..lol. Had she sewn before?? You must have gotten quite a kick out of showing her..has she been to the doctor? Are they saying no harm done from previous health issues?

Thea, sorry to hear you have been under the weather..migraine brought on by all the excitement?

Dianne, are you over the excitement of their visit?

Mary the special birthday meals sounds yummy, not being a fish /seafood lover I cannot appreciate..shrimp étouffée..hmm translation. Strangled shrimp!

Jean, you know the economy is bad when it affects gardening..do you order from this supplier?

Lexington Park, MD

Morning to all.
LK Heather looks so happy. And just love the first quilt. I am sure she will be turning out more quilts before to long.
Thea hope the migraine is gone.
Betty do rest if you can.
Just waiting for UPS>>>>>moved old bed to DD#1 room in the basement. (she lost hers to flood last year and sleeping in air bed)
sun is shining high 65.......

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good morning.

Mary, I am looking for "holes" in the calendar so we can have coffee. My Run&Do list has been awfully long lately...many regular trips to Thibodaux for the in-laws....in their 80's and need help with things....plus MIL's brother in Ruston is not doing well...Alzheimer's....and we have taken MIL up there twice now to see him...FIL doesn't travel so one of us goes to Ruston, the other stays in Thibodaux.

Barb and Betty...what a wonderful accomplishment for your grandsons...I know you are both brimming with pride for them.

Betty, I haven't ordered from Van Bourgondien in 5 or 6 years. My last order from them was pitiful....the bulbs and the plants were covered in mildew and only about a third survived....replacement was a long drawn out process and by the time they got here it was way too warm for any blooms. I have since then put my money and support into local nurseries....build the local economy instead of spending elsewhere.Grin

I hope all of you who are down or under the weather feel better soon. I find this song always helps put things in perspective for me...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPazGVuBXmY

and this one lifts my spirits and reminds me what a beautiful place our world is...

So you will be in bed by 7 tonight trying that new bed out..exciting for sure..bet your daughter will enjoy the new to her bed..ahh 65, perfect weather for me.

Quiet here, Paul just sync'ed my laptop to work system, Jeff was going to run me through it later today but happy its done! Bet Jeff is as well so he doesn't get frustrated with this old gal.

Greg will call once his staff check the house..another concern addressed!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

What a fine job Heather has done on this!!! She must feel so proud as should you, LK , the teacher. Great job......
Thea - praying this finds you feeling better this morning. I know how debilitating these headaches get for you. Rest in the dark until it's gone.
Dianne, I'm anxious to see pictures of your visit but want Thea to get well first. I'll try to be patient!!!!
Laura, can't wait to see how you like the new bed. I hope it's all you need and want.
Mary, sounds like the Mardi Gras parades got wet this year. Do they still put them all on in the rain????
How are you feeling this morning Betty?
Got this put together this morning but it still needs to be quilted. I love using up the scraps!!!!!

WOW Moon-that sure got my toes to tapping!!!! Loved it - Thank you......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Moved over to work computer, ipad wouldn't let me view your links Jean, so now will visit the sites...could use a pick me up. All the names you speak of sound sooo french, perhaps that's why I'm partial to Louisiana..maybe I was a byou babe witch??? hmmmm

Barb, love that hanging..looks as though you are ready for spring..do you make one representing each season to hand on front door? Do you have overhang so they don't get damaged? It's lovely..how is Norm behaving? Is he better? Can he work? ahh so many questions..

I'm with Barb Thea, anxious to see photo's but want you to be able to enjoy posting them, not fighting a headache..

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning everyone!!
Sorry that I did not post the pictures from my visit to Dianne yesterday...but like Dianne said I had a doozie of a migraine...so dark room was the place for me yesterday.

Jean, love the celtic sound...
Moonshadow certainly brings it into perspective..thanks for sharing!

Had pancakes/bacon for breakfast, can't have Shrove Tuesday (pancake Tuesday) without celebrating..now not so sure about lent tomorrow..lordy, need to have a goal, maybe a real effort to diet and cut out some of those treats I've been enjoying.

Lyndonville, NY

Oh LOVE the pictures! Thank you so much Thea for sharing! Stained glass is beautiful also. Sounds like a great time.

Betty, so happy Greg is having the house checked out. Think...when you get it "bad" it happens when you are at home. Not so much in the office or other places/friends houses. BUT when you go back home you are "hit with it" again. Something just isn't right!

Just had man here for almost 2 hours tuning piano. Poor thing was a mess. It was DH's grandfathers....dates back to 1930s. DS now plays it...and well, it was in BAD shape...can tell I have no ear for music/tone as I only thought two keys were off. NOT! It is beautiful now...and Piano man played part of Phantom of Opera...OMG so pretty!

I have doctors appt. today to get the blood clot checked and hopefully be DONE with that medications!

Off and running, waving hello to all

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Thea, thanks for the photo's..omg it truly is like living in God's country..beautiful view..much like our Georgian Bay! Who would ever guess it was the 1st time you've met??? truly a blessing bestowed by the Lord. Good looking bunch, got to tell you..always nice to put be able to put a face to people we care about. Looks like all were enjoying the day.

Love those adorable stained glass pieces..ahhh love the hummer but bee coming in a close 2nd..lol When I was at the stained glass shop the other day she had 2 robins, few leaves, not more than 3 or 4, tiny piece and was asking $65. for it..well worth the effort put into the piece..am hoping she will share pattern as it's her own design.

Think there was some spoiling going on???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, what a treasure to pass down through generation..glad you were able to have it tunned..must not be many in that line of business. So you are on the run again, bet you will be doing happy dance when they give you a clear bill of health. Can you then get off blood thinners? Weather co-operating for the drive?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Glad you enjoyed the music...it always serves to lift my spirits.

Betty you may have been a Mama Roux in a past life...grin

Yes, sure am hoping to get off the blood thinners. I have been covered with bruises since on it for tiny bumps. Weather is beautiful, mid 30s and clear.

Told DH I won't be home much before 5:00 so he is in charge of dinner. haha

Verona, ON

Well dang, silly me!! I know better than this but went back to look at a photo and of course lost my post.

Thunder, well everybody if you look at the garden doors you can see Thunder's Kitchen Angle in its place of honour. Thea did you take a photo of the goregous, verrrry comfy quilt to gave us? We love it - have put it to good use already. Thea also gave me a book with stories and photos of teachers, students and school houses from the 1800's and 1900's in her area. I gobbled it up that night. Really, really enjoyed it.

Thea the cookbook is the same one I sent Mary at Christmas. We will have to find a recipe we all want to do, make it and do a taste test. Who says you can't have cyber taste tests?

If you look in the distance very carefully in Picture # 5 you can see 4 or 5 of the ice fishing huts out on the lake. Thea and I decided neither of us wanted to walk on that ice. I think they are all fools considering the temps of late.

You can also see from the photos that our house is very open, small and open - just the way we like it. Excellent visit, sure hope we can do it again soon.

Dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jean - Thank you for the Afro-Celt music - my Scottish website DOES say that Celts are All Over The World, if people would but know it lol
I've added this link to my All Things Scottish site - thank you!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thea, thaNks so much for sharing your visit! Love those pictures, and being able to see Dianne, and Warren! Love that view too! I can just see us all sitting there sipping iced tea his summer! Dianne, love those stained glass pics! Lovely work. Since I love my hummers, I would have to choose the humming bird piece also, but they are both wonderful.
Love those tulips Barb! Great job!
Betty, I know it is Fat Tuesday today, but never heard of pancake Tuesday.

Hmm a cook-off, that would be fun

Our guys are still running the lake up to my cousin's house in Cognashene, doesn't make me happy but am told the locals who drill and have xmas tree line check it daily..thank goodness for floater suits. Kyle told me the other day as he doesn't like wearing his that the only thing they are good for is keeping you afloat so you can find them..nice kid!!!

Gorgeous Thea..bet Dianne and Warren spend many an hour all snuggled in your rag quilt..love the colors, so country looking.

How can one not feel the love that went into sewing such a quilt not be felt...
