So it's Dave's dad who has had 9 partners (wives)?? Am sure I saw the 9 somewhere. Lol

Darlene called, she took a fall and is in bed..with cold presses and muscle relaxers she hopes to be ok as we were going to the craft show at the community centre at 10 in the morning..she has bad back at best of times.

Sharon just called, cursing my mom..rag quilt blocks are all done wrong. Lol. Now she is trying to make sense of it..

Getting more snow that I thought we would! Stay safe everyone in its path

Well, last day at Alstom, and left on Very Good terms. One of the new guys gave me a lead on a job, and they are very interested - I just sent them my resume & cover letter for an Executive Ass't position.
AND more good news - Bob sent his resume to a co last night, and they called him in for an interview Mon @ 10am! They like that he's forklift certified!
It's an employment "boom" in Calgary right now........
Keep us in your T&P, please

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, that is great news for both of you! Sending lots of prayers.

Hello To All !

Welcome Night Shifters !

Yes LK I'm so sick of Coughing ! YAY on the Passport ! Send a pic :o)
Betty - I'd love to open a business... no more witchy poo LOL... Can't believe someone would tell a story like that about your MIL.... so wrong....
Too funny that DSis is having to deal with the quilt....
Deb - how did visit with Cruella go ? You made sure to hide the puppies right? Yes - give Shane Dad's car... keep yours...
Crissy - I looked and mine are 10mg too.. I'll have to research on google. What a horrible accident ....
Susan - well Things are looking up ! Like Betty said maybe you'll find something you like even better....

Dianne - hope you and Santa Warren are having more good days.
Not much going on here...DH working out of town. DSD2 is headed to the Valentines Dance at school. DS has the "Gang" coming over.... makes me feel so good that they feel comfortable enough to come hang out here...

Dreary day and freeze warnings tomorrow night so will have to cover up the Hibbies. Hibiscus meeting is tomorrow. A client gave me 2 tickets to a Gala Sat. night ... hope I feel like getting dressed up tomorrow night but it's free dinner and live music. I wanted to turn him down but he is so nice and wanted me and DH to go. Who knows...maybe meet a rich investor for my business idea LOL

Mary, a quick stop in to the night crew and you!

Tonight actuallly was very nice as my DD Carrie & her DH Andy showed up after all. SIL Cruella Jr. brought cut out valentine sugar cookies....so that along with the pizza went really well. I was a social butterfly...which I totally hate doing, and bit the bullet and had a decent time.

The kids are home...and we are all headed to bed.

Betty the snow finally got here about 7:00ish. Light dusting so far...but it is icy. Snow plows must believe the weather liars as they are out in full force!

Sweet dreams....my pain killers are kicking in and I didn't take one last night,s o heading up to bed.

Debbie

Verona, ON

Oh Mary it will do you good to get out and enjoy yourself. Plus you can always mention to the witch that you got free passes to the event from your client. Betcha with her attitude she isn't offered much from her clients. What kind of music?

Betty I didn't answer your query about the bad accident on the 401 last Monday. Yes there were 2 people killed and it turns out 1 of the young women was raised here in Verona.Somehow one of the cars was going the wrong way on the 401 ( this would be like your Interstate). Sorta makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up as there for the grace of god goes you.

That's the pits you are still coughing Mary. And you Crissy this has been going on for a long time hasn't it? Does it ever really go away?

Spoke to a young woman today about house cleaning. She thinks she can fit me in on Tuesdays. Going rate is $25.00 per hour and that is if paid in cash otherwise it is higher. Gasp! No wonder these gals drive spiffy vehicles.

Debbie, sure hope you didn't choke on that pizza! My heart goes out to you, I know how difficult it can be having to eat a meal with the out laws when you are not their favourite person and viceversa.

Need to have a nice hot shower, maybe that will help me get to sleep.

Dianne

Verona, ON

We xossed Debbie, very happy to hear tonight went by smoothly.

Baton Rouge, LA

Debbie ! So glad you could turn it all around and have a good time... Kudos to you gal.... (HUGS)

Hey Dianne ! So glad to see you ! Yes - maybe I'll mention it to witchypoo... those tickets were $75 each ! When I head to the kitchen I'll check to see who the live music is... trying to keep Belle back here with me... she has been bad about sneaking onto the couch where she is not allowed.. as of late...

I feel good about these cough meds... she has me on prednisone, clarithromycin, allergy med, nexium, an inhaler and 2 nasal sprays...and I'm still taking Dicel from that pulmonologist who said "Ive never seen anyone die from a cough"....

made me mad... I was in a meeting with a co-worker Tuesday...and suddenly started coughing and had to run to the ladies room and coughed, vomited, coughed... seemed like an eternity.....I'm so ready to kick this thing... it's really embarrassing.

I would think with the housecleaning... you could really shop around... $25 sounds like a professional cleaning but surely you could find a young gal just starting out who would take minimum or $10 per hour to just get the business.....Maybe put an ad out there if you can for free... maybe on craigslist... or maybe if there is a free publication... You will be home with them while they clean so you don't have to worry about them stealing from you or whatnot....

I have a friend who cleans from time to time for me... I pay her $25 but I think she stays an hour plus some....but the BEST thing is... she is a gossiper... and she can get information out of the teenagers ! So I love to pay her and find out what they are *really* up to.... LOL

I'll pop back in a bit and check in on the Night Shift !

((HUGS))
Mary

LOL Mary - great to have your house cleaner and a pipeline to the kids' activities. I have looked, checked all over, called all the local churches, the HS you name it and cannot find anyone who wants to work.Unfortunately that is par for the course for our village. Something will come up sooner or later.

OK going off to doodle and thenrread for a bit.

Morning Laura, how are you and your family doing..little one back on track now that you've eliminated the culprit?

Ahhhh hot/hot so don't burn your fingers when taking one..chocolate chip is the order of the day.

Waiting around not trying to get into anything too time consuming, craft show at 10 and stained glass studio doesn't open till noon today...drats, just enough to take up much of the day...

Betty, we have snow...a few inches, but still coming down. Snow isn't as bad as the temps, which dropped about 20 degrees since yesterday.

I have two sick kids. The child has "coughing crud" and massive cold. DS came home with pink eye, he is on drops. Sigh.
I see where my weekend will be spent dissinfecting!!

Working on my first cup of coffee....so will be back later.

Someone asked the other day, 'What was your favorite fast food when you were growing up?'

'We didn't have fast food when I was growing up,' I informed him.
'All the food was slow.'

'C'mon, seriously. Where did you eat?'
'It was a place called 'at home,'' I explained. !

'Mum cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.'

By this time, the kid was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to have permission to leave the table.

But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I figured his system could have handled it :

Some parents NEVER owned their own house, wore Levis , set foot on a golf course, traveled out of the country or had a credit card.
My parents never drove me to school. I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only had one speed, (slow).
We didn't have a television in our house until I was 10.
It was, of course, black and white, and the station went off the air at midnight, after playing the national anthem and a poem about God; it came back on the air at about 6 a.m. and there was usually a locally produced news and farm show on, featuring local people...

I never had a telephone in my room. The only phone was on a party line. Before you could dial, you had to listen and make sure some people you didn't know weren't already using the line.

Pizzas were not delivered to our home... But milk was.
All newspapers were delivered by boys and all boys delivered newspapers --my brother delivered a newspaper, six days a week. He had to get up at 6 AM every morning.

Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the movies. There were no movie ratings because all movies were responsibly produced for everyone to enjoy viewing, without profanity or violence or most anything offensive.

If you grew up in a generation before there was fast food, you may want to share some of these memories with your children or grandchildren. Just don't blame me if they bust a gut laughing.
Growing up isn't what it used to be, is it?
MEMORIES from a friend :
My Dad is cleaning out my grandmother's house (she died in December) and he brought me an old Royal Crown Cola bottle. In the bottle top was a stopper with a bunch of holes in it. I knew immediately what it was, but my daughter had no idea. She thought they had tried to make it a salt shaker or something. I knew it as the bottle that sat on the end of the ironing board to 'sprinkle' clothes with because we didn't have steam irons. Man, I am old.
How many do you remember?
Head lights dimmer switches on the floor.
Ignition switches on the dashboard.
Pant leg clips for bicycles without chain guards.
Soldering irons you heat on a gas burner.
Using hand signals for cars without turn signals.

Older Than Dirt Quiz :
Count all the ones that you remember not the ones you were told about
Ratings at the bottom.

1. Candy cigarettes
2. Coffee shops with tableside juke boxes
3.Home milk delivery in glass bottles
4. Party lines on the telephone
5. Newsreels before the movie
6.TV test patterns that came on at night after the last show and were there until TV shows started again in the morning. (there were only 3 channels [if you were fortunate])
7. Peashooters
8. Howdy Doody
9. 45 RPM records
10.Hi-fi's
11. Metal ice trays with lever
12. Blue flashbulb
13.Cork popguns
14. Studebakers
15. Wash tub wringers

If you remembered 0-3 = You're still young
If you remembered 3-6 = You are getting older
If you remembered 7-10 = Don't tell your age,
If you remembered 11-15 =You're older than dirt!

I might be older than dirt but those memories are some of the best parts of my life.

Glenview, IL

Thank You All for the Birthday Greetings...

Big Happy smiles, lolol yep Barb I do!!

DH is taking me to breakfast! So I got to get dressed.

Well, no one in my family is coming, they got car troubles...oh well.

House is clean and ready to have company...The hardest decision for me is what should I wear?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you are enjoying the day Juidy, let's hope that the viewing will bring a buyer, now wouldn't that make your day!

Awww you were so looking forward to them coming!!

Sun is shinning in the front picture windows am sure I could put my feet up, close my eyes and think I was somewhere south..best I not pretend otherwise I'll get nothing done.

Got supplies I needed from stained glass shop, few groceries, included everything i need for Ruby's applesauce cake, tomorrow I'll run into Walmart first thing and pick up a turkey roll, hankering for turkey!!

Now that I'm fully awake must go and read the night shifts postings..

Hope you are all enjoying you day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I remember everyone one of them! Guess that makes me older than dirt?

Judy, hope you take pictures today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Remember outdoor toilet, walking to school and having to walk home for lunch..almost 1 mile each way..fun coming home, big hill, not so much fun going to school, big hill. Lol

Debbie how are the sick folk?

Dianne, love having Kyle drop in for a visit..he's my biggest pipeline, everything mom always wanted to know gets answered.

Mary that's about the going rate around here for housekeeping, that is Cathy's trade..know she works three mornings and four afternoons and makes a good $$$

One of my Christmas gifts from Roger was to hire a cleaning team for spring cleaning, they came in for 2 days, 4 of them and there wasn't one thing not moved or washed/polished..absolutely loved it!! I'd be shocked I imagine to find out the cost nowadays..

Feeling LAZY, not doing much of anything..sitting foiling but that is mindless!

sailor on the rug snoring, Missy beside me and Riley on the big chair, no wonder I feel like dozing off!!

I was a 7 - 10 with Judy...but oh well.

The child is sick as all get out and a mess, as pale as this "white" on here. Chicken soup is brewing.

The snow won't stop. DH is happy as a pig in ....mud. Snowblower has had its work out.

Lexington Park, MD

Well I remember some but not all. Getting old.
I try to tell the kids about black and whote t.v no cable we had bunny ears.
We sat at the dinner table till all was gone.......
But we also played freely outside, and could ride bikes just about as far as we wanted no
worries about speeding cars and such. Those were the best darn days....so much change and not all good.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, sorry wind must have blown it stateside...they did say a front from Texas so blame LindaKay..chicken soup, moth watering, net everything knit but kitchen zinc. When I was at Foodland bought stuffed porchops, salad and turnip for tonight, might as well can that idea, not hungry!

Judy, it's just a head cold, thank goodness I've ot got the coughing like many of you. Had so many baths my hands are wrinkled and dry, must get out some lotions and pamper myself.

How many are you expecting tonight Judy? Sure wish I lived closer, could do with a shindig.
