Good morning...

Well now my birthday celebration(s) have begun!!

Awe, Liz is so, so good to me...Yesterday, I received my birthday present via mail! LOLOL I asked her if i was aloud to open right away. Hehehe, she said of course! OH my, a pair of beautiful hand made slippers!! OH and she decorated them special with bead work, a couple of can topper's to turn into bottles, with covers, a great t-shirt from Kenny, and wow, a JoAnn's gift card, and How perfect, a Lucy and Ethel birthday card!!!
and for DH and me a box of Liz Lemons, which I ate a half a tiny one immediately!! Already feeling this cold disappearing, so ate the other half this AM.
I plan on making a Lemon Merangue Pie for the Party.

I will take a photo later today, you have got to see how special the Slippers are, but a little hint, they are Bahamama specific!

So, I am in a rush to finish my morning chores...Not too bad but just trying to keep place straight. My brother and wife are coming on Friday, woohoo.

As far as baby quilt, finally pieced the Center together, I like it and right now, trying to figure in a braided border...Plus, re-arranging the layout a little bit.
I love the disappearing 9 patch, but i think it will go on the other side of quilt. I think it's just a bit too busy and big for this side...Well I would love to finish this quilt by end of this month. I have another baby quilt to do for Joyce.

Afternoon all, just got home..

Wasn't anything of importance at the office to do..went to Garden Gallery..got my swap windchime and a bunny rabbit, he's so realistic. Took Cathy out for lunch, she is always doing something here and won't take $$$ so my way of saying thank you!

On the way to Barrie dropped laptop off to Leslie, yes, virus..charging me $100 to fix..drats always something and rarely do I use it, not sure how I got the virus..same info comes to basement computer, why didn't it get it as well??not that I'm wishing for it..too confusing to me..Jeff told me to wait for him and he would fix ut he is too busy a man to be visiting and my asking him to do repairs..can pick it up Saturday or one night next week coming home from work.

Stopped at the stained glass studio and picked bevels I shall need for my window piece, Gail's daighter is looking after it while Gail is in Myrtle Beach, first I said regular bevels so I can see how I like the piece...then as we got the bevels out I started to add a few diachronic ones..could have saved her a lot of time just saying give me all diachronic. Lol

Judy, 11 th is your birthday right? Leave it to out Liz and Kenny to treat you to a lovely birthday pressie.. By the time the next week passes you will have celebrated many times over...is the Bahamas Mama party this weekend? Poor Steve, make him some homemade soup and put him to bed...while you are at it.............!

Went and saw the 3 Stooges at the Toronto National Exhibition many moons ago, yikes, didn't have kids yet..took Roger's employer's boys..was fun but I watch them now and say omg how could I have found them funny with all the smacking going on!

No, Betty, we are still doing the purging. So far we have gone through the living room, bedroom including the closet, office and supplies closet, bath, linen closet, laundry area and most of my quilt room. Next is the dining room/kitchen. It needs some serious reorganizing. And then there is the basement and the garage!!!! We are plodding through and will keep at it until it is done.

I tried the fabric jelly roll quilt that LK showed in the sewing forum Took about 3.5 hours to make a full quilt. Of course it still needs to be layered and quilted but to get a top done that fast was sure different for me.

Omg Barb, it's stunning! Shucks you could very well make from start to finish a 'quilt in a day!'. If a person had yardage, could they not cut in strips and do much the same?? Would it work? Next time I'm at Joann's will pick up a jelly roll..must go back and rematch that link!

I'm over the cold and I feel fine, but I still have a lot of congestion that I have to get rid of before my asthma it turns into COPD. My chest hurts today but I was doing a lot of filing and lifting a couple of 50+lb boxes half the day yesterday and I never use those muscles, so I'm hoping that's what it is. I just started taking a 6 day Prednisone regime today, if that doesn't get rid of the congestion I'll go back to the doc. I figure I should take ALL of the meds he prescribed me back in October for this, they might actually work!

Took some meds for my cold, off to bed after my last post, fell asleep and Darlene called..just finished chatting and now I'm wide awake.

She had some distressing news for me, a man I worked with at the township went to the doctors yesterday, pulled out onto main street, hit a tow truck, Peter 68 died at the hospital and Janice 56 is still in the hospital..those two have had a hard life...tragic!

So here I am, wide awake thinking its still early enough to get up rather than toss turn for next few hours..where did I put the Vicks?

I went to DR yesterday (yes - still cough) and begged her to put me on meds from November when it got better... she put me on $100 of meds... including prednisone....but she seems so conservative...stressed to me it's a "childs dose".... I'm thinking give me the adult dose and let me please lose this cough !
It's really embarrassing !

Betty, I am so so sorry about your dear friends. That is so very sad. Enough sadness for all of us.

Storm door came in, and is "hanging" in place. DH came home from work early, scaring the heck out of me and the dog.....and took 3 hours to hang that darn thing up! Of course all done out in the cold standing and lifting. Feel bad for him, he was whooped.

DS is coming home again tomorrow. Rumor mill (his sister the child) says he has a weekend planned with friends. This isn't happening every weekend as it is a major drain on DH....has to take him back at 4:30 on Monday morning OR late Sunday. And the weather is un predictbile.

Hey Deb.... Would be great if Shane can get a job up there and maybe begin process of getting his own vehicle....

I'm sure you are worried about DH with all he has to do and driving there and back and again.....

He has put in several applications...but so have about 300 other students in that small community! I hope he gets something that fits his schedule....and like you said can save for a car.

DH actually said when he has his surgery in a few weeks, he would send MY car down there with Shane for a couple weeks and I can drive his. Ummm, I don't like that idea.

OMG.... NO! You need your transportation! So you would have to bring DH to work? I just don't get that....

DH supposedly will not be able to drive for 3 or 4 weeks....and I will have to transport him. He SHOULD be home those weeks. AND it is his right leg/knee that is having surgery, so no driving. Still need to find out all the "if's, ands or butts" on that issue....and what will happen. We are talking a very heavy man trying to walk on this after surgery.

He will NOT be leaving me without a car...he can walk before that will happen. Oops, thats bad...but true!

I need to go to bed! The child is now sick....sounds like bronchitus. GRRRR.

Debbie, when I had my knee replacement, I was having at home therapy for the first 3 weeks, then I was allowed to drive.

Me too LK - I was given the OK to drive after 3 weeks. Only trouble was I had to have the first knee replacement done after I think it was 4 weeks. Grrrrr!

Smoothies have been a big hit. Someon on DG sent me a recipe for a Pineapple one - tried it today with fresh pineapple and added some frozen strawberries - Yum!! It was definitely a hit.Must have had my head in sand all of these years as I found out today you can freeze fresh pineaplle. I had no idea.

Betty I am so sorry to hear of your friends' accident. How terrible! It must be the week for horrid accidents in Onatrio. For those of you not living in our beautiful province 10 migrant workers were killed in an horrific accident on Monday. Most of the workers were from Peru and of course the breadwinners for their family. The van they were all in went through a stop sign and hit a flatbed truck. That driver was killed also so a total of 11 fatalities. The 38 year old driver of the flatbed was on his way home to celebrate his 11th wedding anniversary. So sad!

Oh Mary, sounds like you need some more Verona cough drops. I'll see if I can get some Horehound for you to try - it is excellent for coughs.

Looks like DH will have to wait for the Cscan until the scheduled apptment on Feb 15. He is on the Cancellation Wait list but is # 8 on that list.He is having a much better week - he is more alert and spending more time up and around the house. He is getting Cabin fever big time. Hopefully the ice will melt away so he can at least with his cane and my assistance walk on the lane. Finally got the bird feeders out this week which has provided us with endless jooy. Can't even get too angry at the little red squirrel that tips the feeders to get at the peanuts.

Dianne, how wonderful that Santa Warren is mobile this week...look where the snowpack was and yes, glare ice, wouldn't be good for him to take a fall. Ohh Debbie, could Paul not have waited for Shane to come this weekend to help with the door? I don't remember Paul as being a very heavy man?? Betty, the only thing she ever serves is homemade pizza. Now, I will be 100% honest...it is VERY good. She has handed down the "pizza plate" to my brother in law Rob (DHs youngest brother of 32) and he does a MUCH better job. HOWEVER, there are two issues. Usually about 15 people...and 4 pizzas. You get maybe 2 or 3 tiny 3 inche squares....and they put so much oil on it....it is so greasy. BUT like I said, taste good.

DH definately wants to go...I don't blame him, he has 6 other siblings besides him. Being raised an only child...I have crowd issues.

I will be gone for a bit this afternoon, going to the post office to file for our passports.

That has been almost a year ago Betty! Middle of March, and I still can't bend my finger completely.

LOL Betty, I did find muscles that I didn't know I had. That is so sad! I was driving home on US Hwy 70, the way I always drive home, there's a very popular left turn that doesn't have a left turn lane and the speed limit is 55mph, which is fine for the highway, but there are bad bad bad wrecks there all the time because cars turning left have to stop to wait for traffic coming the other way in the main lane, and if you get someone driving with their head stuck up it, it's bad news. There's a hill quite a ways back from this intersection and as I crested the hill I saw one car jolt way to the left and another car jolt real quick way off to the right. There must have been 100 people down there trying to help, including a land/road survey crew that has been surveying the whole length of US 70 for weeks now.

I added the two pictures I got, I stopped to make sure I didn't know anyone as this is getting into my neighborhood.

You notice that the oncoming traffic has 2 lanes and the direction that I'm going only has one lane. It's retarded.

Picture #1 is the truck that did the rear-ending. The whole front end and passenger side of it is completely gone, the engine is sitting on the ground.

Picture #2 is the 4-Runner that got rear-ended, you notice he's upside down in the trees and I could only see a little bit but the whole rear end of it was caved in. Everyone got out of both vehicles without a scratch, but I bet they are all sore today. That guy in the truck must have been doing 60-65mph and there were no skid marks leading up to the point of impact.

Mary I have chronic asthma and I cough all the time too. Prednisone is straight up steroids, I'm on 10mg pills, which are strong, you can't take a lot of it. You should research it, google.com.

Debbie NO!! He can't let Shane have your wheels, tell him Shane can have his wheels! The back and forth every weekend has to stop, Paul can't be doing that, there's no reason he can't stay there and come home on Holidays, that's what everyone's college age kids do here, if it's not a long weekend they don't come home and most of them have their own wheels. I understand why you're worried about Paul walking on that knee, he IS a big heavy man. Just think, if you do go with SIL you'll probably get her sick. Bronchitis and Pneumonia is nasty down here this winter.

Let me tell ya, Dave's step-mom #9 called little brother Donnie in CA, says she wants her car fixed. This old medicated woman passed out while driving and drove her car into a bank, the frame's bent and it can't be fixed. The doc took her drivers license and she wants to drive again. Anyway, Donnie calls Dave, Dave jumps, we get into it cause I know they want money, Dave says they don't and goes over there, but complains to me that they only call when they want something. I told Dave that the only way they're going to quit is if he quits jumping, funny that #9 won't call Dave directly because he won't answer her calls, but she calls Donnie and Dave will jump to it when Donnie calls Dave about the same thing. I told him he just might as well answer #9's calls because it's the same thing. He swears up and down it's not the same thing. After he got home he tells me that their heater was out and he had to fix it. This man knows nothing about heaters so I know that's a lie to cover up the truth about the car. Then he threw in that his dad asked for $500. I told Dave so help me if he gives them the money I'll divorce him, I can't take much more of this BS and Debbie remember I'm an only child too , Dave's the 5th of 6, so I COMPLETELY understand, it's only been 5 1/2 years for me, I can't imagine 22 years. YIKES!!!

Snow just started this minute. Temps have really dropped and the wind has picked up. So glad I went into the village first thing this morning and got DH's meds. Also picked up some Robaxacet to see if that will help my nagging back ache. Just about croaked when I saw the price of them. Haven't bought any in years abd the bottle I paid $23.99 for today used to be $9.99 the last time I purchased them.

Crissy I understand your slow burn about Dave lending $$$s. DH and I made a pact when we first got together that we would never ever lend or give money to family no matter what the circumstances. Sure am glad we did too - saved us lots of trouble with relatives over the years.

I don't have any relatives so I don't have the money problem. When Dave was married to his first wife he gave his dad $10,000, that sealed the deal for the divorce. He's always given his dad money even though his dad doesn't give a rats ass about him. It's disgusting, there's a reason he's on wife #9.

One should never lend money unless financially they don't care if they get is back, if they do then it's a bonus! Know Dave's Dad and brother put a lot of pressure on him, let's hope he can get through it without caving in.
