That's awful, Marilyn. I'm glad the medication worked out for you, though. A shame how they make people wait like that. In the meantime, something could happen.

Sounds good to me.

Those fig leaves look too small for me...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nice Allison!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

You desire larger fig leaves, Victor? LOL!

Sad start to the week.
RIP Susan Powell. Her husband killed himself along with his two sons.
Her parents may never find out what happened to their daughter.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Bloomberg gives the (NJ) Giants a parade, but will not give one to the Iraq vets. Nice.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Shocked that so many people praised Madonna's performance. She was horrible! Almost fell once just going up a step. Her moves were simple and slow. Her lip-syncing was awful. Washed up.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I'd like to still have her energy in midlife!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I wasn't impressed by her either, but many did seem to like her.

Thomaston, CT

Only liked the part that spelled out World Peace.....Yes, Jo, that was an awful thing for Powell to do....killing himself was OK by me, but he should not have been allowed to see those boys.....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I didn't watch it but heard it and her voice was great.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Was not her voice. Lip-sync.

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

I've never been much of a Madonna fan.. but, I must admit... I think her show last night was probably one of the best halftime shows they've had in atleast the last 10 years!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i also thought her show was better than most other half time shows

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's not saying much. Most are awful.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i thought she did pretty good

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

lol thats true victor... most were awful the last several years, however, I was more impressed with her performance than any others I seen in the last decade or so. At least she didn't have to "accidentally" bare a body part in order to captivate her audience LOL! (ok, maybe that was a low blow, but still... Janet Jackson's/Justin Timberlake's performance that year was by far the WORST, hands down!)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

True, though the guest did flip the bird.

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

LOL! Really? I must have missed that...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, they have been apologizing for it.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

but she was lip syncing to her own voice, right?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

so that's why it sounded good...LOL

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

LOL I had to do a google search to see who it was LOL!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

seriously? you didn't know who Madonna was? now I know I'm not up on all the newer singers and bands(that will change as my daughter gets older, no doubt) but she's been around since early 80's

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee! I think she meant the bird flipper, M.I.A., Jen!

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

LOL oh, I know who Madonna is (in fact, I actually thought she got out of the music business a long time ago LOL!) I just didnt know who flipped the bird LOL! had to google that one lol

Oh, and dont get me started on the newer "singers" as they like to call themselves.... I might be 28 years old, but 98% of the garbage that comes across the radio over the last 10-12 years I wont listen to. LOL! Like I keep saying... I gotta be able to UNDERSTAND the lyrics... and they gotta make sense... in order for me to actually enjoy it! LOL!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh hahahahaahaha!

oh yeah, new singers, don't get me started either....have to steal old music and just change the lyrics, can't play their own instruments either

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Not to change the subject or anything.

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

LOL Wow! Would have never thought to try to spike my plant's "drink" LOL! Interesting read, ge!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

went with my son to the jr high science fair(my son is 9 and is already planning his science project)
saw a lot of practical projects which I appreciated more than the real scientific ones
one girl did an experiment on how long cut flowers last....the longest lasting flowers, 1 tsp of sugar in the water, lasted 20 days, didn't change the water, even longer than the ones with the packet from the florist

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My dad always put sugar in the Christmas tree water.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I can feed my son a tsp of sugar and he will keep going for weeks too.

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

LOL Victor!

My sister in law's boyfriend (at the time) last year bought her some flowers for her birthday. She used one of my vases for them and just put them in regular water. After a couple days, I noticed they were starting to look kinda sad, so I changed the water and put in a little miracle grow in the water then put the bouquet back in the vase... they lasted an additional 2 weeks. She came back and asked me what I put in the water (she noticed the blue tint to the water and that the flowers still looked pretty), and I just told her I gave them a little miracle grow in their water, figured I'd experiment a little with it and see if it helped make them last longer. Worked well... been doing it ever since with all cut flowers I get!

Never thought about sugar though... but, it kind of makes sense.
