So glad yo are home safe and sond Debbie. WIshing Betty safe travels. I am hoping she will use her wise gene and pull over and stay somewhere if the elements get too bad. Betty we know you have one please use it if necessary.
Loved the pic Mary certainly perked me up.
D
Best/worse&what did I learn today..chat with friends!
Dianne, she told me if it got bad she was going to her Moms or another family member, which is on the way home. She wasn't up to taking chances today.
I took a vicodin when I got home and just woke up. lol
Debbie
Evening all, got to feel my fingers so I can type here...lol
Numb from holding on to steering wheel..did a lot of ohhhhwwaaaah, especially on the Hamilton skyway..
Remembered I had brought a camera to take photo's of our meet up but forgot to take it out..in Hamilton while driving, don't tell anyone, I snapped a photo of the start od sunset..
Had tunes on, big band music and enjoyed the ride, intil I got to Newmarket cut off/400 hwy..snowing and blowing but light enough that white outs were just here and there..
Then came Innisfil (south of Barrie) and thankfully the plows were in front so I could see, then came the little 400, complete white out..tried to see my cut off and couldn't, I was the first vehicle, hate that, nobody was trying to pass because you couldn't see the road..
I took the Hillsdale cutoff and that is where my brother Bernie lives, thought I'd go a bit further and if as bad I'd go back..you know how it is when you are 1/2 hr from home you really want to get home.. You know it's bad when no cars are on the road..
About 5 miles further it was clear...oh boy, 20 minutes and I'd be home..got to the last concession and no visibility..thank goodness squinting my eyes I could just see the road..than about 2 miles from the house along with wind snow turned into popcorn, thought it was hailing..was smiling when I drove into the yard and said a 'thank you Lord'
See I have 5 calls so best I check them out otherwise somebody will be up all night worrying.
Good thing about the trip is my boys didn't know I escaped for the day!!
All and all it was worth it to spend the day with Debbie...
OH Betty, been holding my breath here!
Did you get the windshield wiper fixed? Your boys didn't know? You are going to get me in major trouble!
I came home and crashed....with the most beautiful special rag quilt. Made me cry....even showing it to DH I teared up.
We have the horrible wind now, and sounds like hail/sleet hitting the windows.
We will both sleep well tonight!
Betty, I brought my camera too.....and my phone had one! What were we thinking? I think the weather!
In nightie, hot chocolate by my side, all comfy with quilt ready to watch a movie..
made all my calls..got the whatfor
If I'm not getting it from friends this side of the border I'm getting it from the other side of the border, right Debbie??? lol
Beautiful view near Hamilton..Lake Ontario
Hard to take a photo when you are travel 120KL.
Dianne, glad to near that Warren is having good days. Sure hope you hear from the CC soon.
Betty, so glad to hear your home safe and sound. Did you do any shopping while in the US?
Glad you like the rag quilt Debbie, was a pleasure making it for you..wanted to get one to you when you were so ill but better late than never..think I wore you out.
Yes, just off Niagara Falls Blvd. going toward Military there was an Autoshop, they were so helpful..put it on no problem..thank goodness.
Then I thought I'd see if Joann's had christmas fabric seeing the other Joanns only had those few bolts..not a bolt left..imagine! Sooo having $$$ left I thought I'd buy more material..needed to go to washroom, asked clerk, she said that customers were not allowed to use theirs so I said then I guess my $$$ is no good either!! so there...left without buying a thing..that's something for me. Guess what I bought at the other Joann's made up for it lol
Dianne, at the Christmas tree store, there was a base that will absolutely fit that little stained glass lamp shade I'm doing..Debbie and I had looked at all their lamps and none of the bases would have done..the one at the SG Studio here wanted $50. guess what, they had racks 75% off and I found it, paid $3.99 imagine that...was a happy camper!
This was the sky just west of Toronto..Milton area
Sooo beautiful
LindaKay, yes I managed to do some shopping..once we did Christmas Tree Shop and Joann's I was going to Hobby Lobby for a few things but as Debbie and I were having lunch I checked weather for trip home and it didn't look very good so thought I best get on the move...thank goodness I did.
Bought some quilting templates..fabric for a remembrance quilt for Mike to give to Dar once she gives me some of Mike's clothing..right now she is not ready to part with anything..understandably.
Dianne, so glad Warren is feeling a tad better..
Haven't read all the posts today but saw that Shirley got a job..hurrah...
Well hot chocolate is getting cold
this photo is nearing my neck of the woods..trick was to see the cars in front of me, can you see them?
Betty, you could very well get a scolding from DH also. He had cleaned the bedroom and fresh sheet, and vacuumed as he was sure I would convince you to come home with me for the night.
LindaKay, before I sign off for the night, must tell you, was doing a swap box, every time I picked up something Debbie would make me buy something for me, one for the box,one for me, one for the box one for me..love shopping with her lol
All kidding aside she did think I should buy a little cup for a violet aand also another pretty flower pot..
Night/night everyone
Tell him to keep it clean, I'll be visiting end of winter..
Just checking in... Missing you all... ((HUGS))
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready, with assorted donuts! Betty, hope you got a good nights sleep after your drive last night?
Morning everyone, seems the Alberta Clipper is now through our region..we received a substantial amount of snow...winter enthusiasts will be doing the happy dance today.
It will be a quiet day for me..a play but relaxing day..no need to go out, everything I need I have so will enjoy!
Woke at 5am and forced myself to stay in bed..now having coffee and porridge.
Dianne and Thea did you also get the storm, sure hope there was no need to go out..
Shirley, omg how could they not love you?? I'm sure you will be perfect for them..you know the doctor, he knows you and I'm sure he knows what a treasure you will be..great hours..how many days a week?
Mary, I want to play in your garden..it would be so nice! Isn't it ua tad early for spring blooms?
Laura how did you make out checking out mattresses?
Lindakay, keep meaning to ask, how is your dad?
Off to get creative..I've a project I've promised myself to finish today, if early enough I'll get that little apron done for Suzanne's grandaughter..
Now that I've babbled on about me, what are all your plans??
Betty, Dad is doing well. He just turned 78 last week end, and considering all his strokes, and congestive heart failure, he is doing good! He is pretty week some days, but guess the Lord is keeping him here for something?
I am working blocks for a swap in the other room. Still deciding on a pattern. They are patriotic colors, red white and blue.

Awwww, Betty & Dianne, you sent that mess over here! Woke up to an entirely white yard and even the dog...who is very excited about the snow. So is DH. Me, not so much!
Yes, Betty wore me out....I just got up at 10:00 after taking another vicodin at bedtime. Ahhhh, so refreshed! lol
Glad no damage was done Debbie to keep you in bed for awhile..plow just came and did my yard, amazing just how much we got..was glad I lifted my wipers because we had a bit of freezing rain as well, could hardly see to back up and let him do his 3 swipes.
Finished the little apron..double sided, so that's one project off my list of unfinished items..packed the goodies I bought yesterday for little Arianna and hoping they will drop in this afternoon after the movies.
Have the front/back of my stained glass piece soldered..bit rough but it was hard trying to solder after leaving it so long, it will do though..going upstairs for spaghetti (lots in the pot if you want to join me, I do make a good sauce) then back down to add the 4 clear panels..only thing then will be the caming around it..I'm excited regardless of what it looks like just to say it's done.
Here is front of apron, little pockets to put crayons
LindaKay, the quilt will be lovely, patriotic? Hm. Never did a fan block either..you are very ambitious..is it for you?
Glad your dad is doing ok..you have to wonder how they have so much courage to go on after so many problems
Din/din is waiting
Betty glad you and Debbie arrived safely home.
Yes we did find a new bed waiting and will order on-line when taxes come in.
Sould never have to buy another.....this comes with a 20 year bumper to bumper warrenty.
I have tried everything and air is the only thing that relieves the pressure.
Love the apron it is sooo cute.
No snow here and 65 outside. Does not feel like winter.
love the apron Betty is it just adorable!!
Hubs is doing well, thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers!! got those going out to all in need. :) always
patriotic block swap going on in a different building, I think there are 9 of us swapping.
I am going to be doing some sewing for Mittsy, hope to finish today?? trading her some blocks for some of her beautiful embroidery :)
I also need to finish a few blocks that will be added to a friendship quilt, for someone that just had hip replacement.
sew I best get my butt up off of this chair and get moving ! ! !
sure hope Y'all are having a great day ^_^
Blizzard going on here, drats Suzanne thought she was helping me by taking off call forward ow if it is stormy tomorrow will have to make the trip in..
Was going to say you are all so luck down south but you have your own set of problems with tornadoes and such..think I'll stick to winter storm
Was talking to Dar this morning, she heard that the man killed at my corner was a 72 year old man from Waubaushene..story is his son was with him, father was not wearing a seat belt so he decided to buckle him up, somehow the dad stepped on gas. Believe it's critical for others..what an off the wall accident!
Glad hubby is recouping well Thunder..is he behaving himself..you must be off today and look at you deep into sewing!
Laura how exciting, let's hope this is the answer to your pained back. Lets hope tax time comes quickly..how is our little man?
Thought I'd set my tools aside..played and rested today..know if I were to work another hour or so I could foil the clear glass and solder, but hey, I've waited 3 years, what's another few days..
Hot chocolate time
So quiet here today, either it's a blizzard in your area and weather is good enough to be out gardening..
missed you all!
Before I head to bed, wanted to post a hi to Suse and Bev..
Bev sure hoping you can update on you and Scotty and the twins
And
Suse, am sure you and Moses are out walking, gardening and enjoying that southern sunshine
Mary, you still lost in the garden?
got a bit of sewing done, two out of five blocks complete. The others very close, will have to finish after work tomorrow..day shift 8:30 - 5:30..Then get them out in the mail tues.
Yes hubs is behaving ^_^ don't know how long it will last tho??? doctor told him do not pick up anything heavier than a cup of coffee!!! so I figure that makes even a plate full of food to heavy to move around with !!
He had the ultimate test today! ! ....................a pipe broke outside, water spraying all over ! ! He was very good, called son to come turn off the valve, down low on the ground...he did not even think about trying to bend to shut if off ! ! Thank goodness, cause when I saw it...I panicked , thinking he surely was gonna try to shut it off. so son had to shut off the water, go to home depot , get parts, come home and fix...Son and his buddy both got a very good plumbing lesson, hubs sat in a rocker and told them what to do....When I thanked the buddy for the help, he told me he was thrilled to learn how to do it!!!!
He will be alone for a while tomorrow, I will put some OJ into small bottles, so he does not lift big jug, same with some milk. so he can have cereal if he wants.....already have some leftover chicken and rice in a few small containers that he can put into microwave... stop and think a minute about what you do everyday...and think about not bending, not twisting, not lifting more than your cup???? that makes for a lot of stuff ! ! ! visiting nurse will come early in the afternoon, then the son will get home, and a few hours later I will get home.....will most likely be a lllooong day for me LOL.
hugs and love
Thunder, is he wearing a brace? I had to wear one 24/7 when I had my surgery, for 6 weeks. Not fun sleeping with that thing!
Hello To All !
Hey Betty ! Well... we had a bright sunny day but it was very COLD compared to yesterday ! I pretty much read all day...
Wow Thunder makes one stop and think of all the moving around you do on a daily basis... Kudos to you for thinking it all through... I'd have never thought about the jug of OJ and Milk.
He does have a brace, but he does not have to wear it if / when he is in bed, only when he is going to be sitting up or walking around. I was surprised he did not have to wear it for bed :) He has to wear it for at least the 2 weeks till he sees the doctor.
Jugs of milk are heavy !! He has had a "no more than 5 pounds" weight restriction for ages !!! He tries real hard not to lift much, but of course when that little red headed angel looks up and reaches for him.....you know what happens there !!! and he pays for it with more pain...but of course he says she is worth it!! ^_^ I keep trying to get him to have some one else lift her, and then hand her to him...as the holding something does not bother him as much as the movements required to lift!! ya know we are all stubborn about some things....
saw this on face book and thought I'd share
Hi all, Betty I thought I'd follow you over here. Love that stained glass. I'm going to make a fountain in my old Mushi garden where his memorial stained glass is. There are gophers digging the area up and the soil has compacted. It is a nice sunny spot for a solar fountain, so I will make it into a raised planter and fountain and put the memorial on it somehow, have not worked it out yet. I still love that stained glass you made me though.
We have had nairly a day of cold. Nights have been record lows on occasion but the days have been really warm and dry. Odd for this area. Not too much wind either, which is unusual.
Betty tell me about the thing that you are hosting this year. Is it like an RU? When is it etc.
Good morning to all..
Coffee is on.
Thunder so glad hubs is trying to remember not to lift. It is hard sometimes.
Betty little man is doing better I think we have found the food that is causing the problem.....tomatoes......
Sewing day here oh and started to paint the kitchen and cabinets.
Have a great day to all.
Morning all, been snowing all night, sure wishnSuzanne hadn't transferred the telephones on Saturday otherwise I would have taken a snow day..oh well will leave 1/2 hour earlier and if roads are ok I'll go out for breakfast,
Melanie and her friend dropped in with grandma's doggies. They were our doing a walk, goodness those Labradoodles have gotten quite a size, then off to bed I went..think Debbie wore me out on our visit. Debbie breakfast television is saying sunshine all weekend..drats and more drats. Lol. Ohh just said woman had 13lb baby..imagine her day!
Dawn, what a pleasure getting on the thread this morning and seeing your post. As for the gathering everyone is welcome, the gathering (yes like roundup but more social) can be found here.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1237710/
Girls, for those of you who haven't been introduced, Dawn was one of the first friends I met on DG , hope Dawn you visit us more often.strange about the weather, you are getting colder and we warmer..how long will I have to live in order to get year round sunshine..yikes doubt I shall see it! Lol. What can you do to rid yourself of gophers?
Laura, mtomatoes you say? Have you been doing 'process of elimination?' process? Sometimes it doesn't take much..hopefully that's the answer .
Thunder quite something to have thought about portions, you just don't realize how heavy even foods are. Sure glad those teens were able to help and the friend had it right, good thing to know! Oh horrific accident in Gainsville, 10 lost their lives due to smoke..terrible.
Crissy, what mischief did you get into this weekend?
Judy, you should be home today, how did time away at the cottage go? You could very well have had bad weather to contend with..hope you had a map out planning that Canadian trip!
Barb, how did your few days away go? Can you share where you decided to go
Omg what do you do to ease an old dog tooting..yikes not pleasant..poor Sailor she has been gagging these past few days..
Best I get a move on
Waving to all
Just went and shoveled steps and let car warm up..got substantial amount of snow..storm coming off Georgian bay..Dianne and Thea and like Debbie, stay warm, stay inside and enjoy the day!
Groundhog Day coming, could we be close to spring?
Let's try the drive
Betty please be careful.
Betty, be careful! We had a good hit of snow and more coming in now.
I have PT this morning, then a doctors appt. at 1:45 so wont be back for some time.
Waving to all....have a good day
Debbie
Roughest part of the ride was within 5 miles of my house..rest of the trip was fine, nice and clear..that is what happens when you have 'streamers' let's hope it stays like this for the rest of the day.
Brought in one of my closet panels..one done, this one 80% done and one blank..drats, should reconfigure my design so that the project will only need 2 panels
Good morning friends... I'm back!!! I had the most restful and fun weekend. Norm just "took me away" and it was so nice. First off was a new quilt shop I had never been to farther north from here. Then it was over into Vermont to the sweetest B&B. We had a wonderful dinner and a nice quiet peaceful evening. Then Sat morning we got in the car and just drove all over. We had breakfast in one town, lunch in another but went back to the B&B and had a light dinner. Visited another quilt shop and found some fabrics I had been looking for. Sunday we got up and headed back to NH as we had a party to go to in the afternoon. My brother and SIL's 25th anniversary. So we had a wonderful relaxing time and I think it really did both of us good.
Today he is back to work and I am back to the sewing and downsizing. I haven't read all the weekend posts yet but I'll try to catch up during the day.
Waving to all~~~~~BBL......
G'morning, all!
Sorry I haven't been on much..........
Saturday was "clearing day" and then in the evening I was on the computer catagorizing the church library books (putting Dewey Decimal #s on the system). Later I will type in all the coding on little labels for the books.
I love Google for the ability to look up a book and figure out its category (biography, meditations, research, daily living, etc). It sure helps!!!
A friend is helping me, but I don't think she can do the coding cuz she doesn't have a computer, and trying to figure out what category a book fits in by the title is very difficult!
Yesterday, at service, our pastor gave a great sermon - mostly about helping in the church...... so many people just let someone else do the work and walk out when the service is finished or when coffee time is over (some not even taking their empty coffee cup to the kitchen!) He talked about people burning out or leaving the church entirely because they're tired of all the frustration of trying to get some to help......... After service, when we had coffee time, more people helped than ever did before!!! We also had a "download" meeting after church to find out what the committee thought of the Robbie Burns Dinner. We had people volunteer for kitchen & serving, that didn't show up, so it was hectic.
Next year we start planning in August, for January's dinner!! I've taken on the Chair position again.
Debbie and Betty so glad you got to get together, and soooo glad you both made it home safe!!! There's no way I would have even tried to drive in that. That's cute of Paul to get the house cleaned up just in case.
Barb that is exactly what I've been wanting to do, and since it's supposed to be in the mid 60's here all week I'm really itching for a road trip. REALLY can't afford it though.
Well I have forgotten what I have read.
Friday after work we went out. At 3pm the plan was to stay home, I got home at 5:45pm and there's a note on the white board that said, "Be back at 7." OKAY... Then he called when I was in the bathroom and left a voicemail saying that he was 'there' and going to leave his phone in his truck so he would call me later. I knew he was at the bar at that point but what am I supposed to do, stay home or go meet him??? Then my friend and fav bartender Christy text me saying she had Dave but no Christine. I told her I don't know what he's doing, so he called and wanted me to come over there. Sheesh!!! I went and had a good time as usual but sheesh!!!
Saturday was a nice day, low 60's, but windy, Dave did some yard work until the wind got to him and I stayed inside and cleaned the house. We had company Saturday night and they left at 10:30pm, I went to bed shortly after.
Yesterday was 63* and no wind and NICE, so Dave went to get some fruit tree spray and oil, and grocery shopping, and I went outside and cleaned out one of my flowerbeds. It was sooooo nice, then a girl I met Friday night, text asking if we wanted to go to the track and casino yesterday afternoon and bet on some horse racing with her, so of course we did. We got to the track about 3:30 and found her and we didn't know that she has VERY wild friends. We got cold and tired, it was somewhat breezy and the stands were in the shade so it was cold, we went across the street to the bar, by then Christy was working so we chatted and had some dinner. After the races were over at 6 all of the wild girls showed up, they played some pool, ate some dinner, and then they wanted to go to the bar next door to dance, so we followed them over there and this one flaunts her $10,000 boobs, we got tired of hearing it and came home, got home at about 10pm. Not late at all but I am sooooo sore from pulling weeds then dancing!
Susan, Minister likely knows how most of the work lays on the lap of a few volunteers, let's hope it will help! Bernice called me wants me to go for Valentines day tea on Saturday at 2pm, then Aunt Muriel's church has Valentines Luncheon also Saturday, at 11am sooo I'll be eating a whole bunch.. maybe I should check the other church, maybe supper din/din on and I wouldn't have to cook all day, just travel from church to church. They put on monthly gatherings, sandwhiches and soups, do you do similar Susan or just the big events?
Barb, your weekend sounds absolutely wonderful..how was the B&B? do you know I've never stayed in one..
Exciting isn't it that all the quilt shops have such different supplies and fabrics, can always find new fabrics and patterns. Can read in your text how much better you now feel. Downsizing, are you intending moving or just getting rid of treasures..hand up for fabric..hanging my head as I grin!
Crissy, imagine you are tired today after all that social life..it's either doing nothing or doing something everyday. Dave better and back at work? Got to love those young girls who love flashing their new acquired boobies, so tiresome..wish I was younger, would have shown them some home grown..
Busy this morning, so now I have a project with me, just cleaned my brushes and ready to paint. Not sure where to start
Drats, bought a bag of jube/jubes and just finished the last one..
Betty this is the kicker, this woman is about 50 years old and they're not new, her ex bought them for her 8 years ago.
I need to get out to WalMart and get some Lean Cuisines I suppose.
