Can we bring bottles of liquor across the border?
Best/worse&what did I learn today..chat with friends!
Absolutely..bring meds for headache while you are at it because i know one night we'll have a good old fashion shindig
^_^
LOL I was just saying to a co-worker that I'm still a "child of the 60's" (read - FlowerChild) and do not get easily boxed in!
Just cuz you get big-hearted as you get older does NOT mean you get STALE!
So many of you ladies are big hearted, but I would NOT think you are senile Bible-thumpers LOL
NOT US!!
Hubs is doing GREAT !! visiting nurse came today, and she said she just can not believe how well he is moving around :)
won't need her much longer, and she thinks he won't need many therapy visits. that is very good as we have to pay a co-pay for each of those.
Hubs makes shakes with frozen strawberries, a couple handfuls, a few ice cubes, a bit of milk (could use the ensure or boost) sometimes adds a banana. occasionally other fruits, raspberries, blackberries....but he likes strawberries the best
when Sailor was getting ready to go in, and working on gaining a bit of weight, and getting into better shape. he made shakes with those powders you can buy. he alternated with
#1... ''super advanced whey protein'' mixed with apple juice (said that tasted better than with water) and a few spoonfuls of peanut butter.
#2...''professional strength whey protein elite series, vanilla cream flavor'' sometimes with milk and a scoop of ice cream, or again with the apple juice, and sometimes peanut butter.
#3... ''professional strength creatine x3 elite series , fruit punch flavor'' mixed with water, or apple juice
they all recommend adding 8 - 10 glasses of water per day , more if needed for amount of times you are working out...he was doing a fitness routine that included running, and working out on one of those bow flex things..
He did gain weight...and muscle mass.
I like strawberries, and vanilla ice cream.
when the Soldier boy was about 15, he was in an accident and got many ,many teeth knocked out, jaw cracked in three places !!! he made shakes with pieces of pizza, and tomato juice !! put them in the blender, and mixed the heck out of it!!! I thought it was very gross!! but he liked it ! he got sick of the fruit smoothies, and vanilla and chocolate shakes....
poor guy could not chew anything for a few months, lived on shakes and smoothies, then graduated to jello and pudding... eggs, oatmeal..etc....not fun! !
ohh now I need to think of something Happier....think I will go cut some fabric.....found a really nifty block pattern I am anxious to try....
I love fruit smoothies with yogurt. Yum
Thunder what nifty block>>>
Hello To All !
Dianne... here is what DS texted me back: Ice Cream, Milk, Whey protein, vanilla extract and ice
He must have been trying what Thunder's DS was ... recipes are similar...
LOL LK... we still haven't had winter yet.... 4 "freezes" it was 78* today...
Betty - LOL hearing you say havent had winter yet... and yet you have had snow... When is the Gathering? Wow that bike park is HUGE !
Susan... LOL When you are 84 you'll be such a speed reader you'll probably be reading a book a day !
Speaking of reading... where is Suse ?
Well I"ll pop back in a bit....
Old dogs respond well to cod liver oil supplements if they have joint problems. It is good for them, like us. My old dog used to go crazy to get them.
Did you use the pill form of cod liver oil or the liquid? I remember having to line up on sschool to get the darn stuff. Yuck! Had a friend though who used to take the bottles we were all given - he loved the taste if the stuff!!
Thunder I am so happy to read how well your DH is doing. It must make him feel good to be able to get up and wround as much as he can now. Lookd great for future healing if he doesn't get too ambitous doesn't it? Such a fine line there - you feel so much better you just want to get going. How is his pain level or has that not been an issue?
Mary - very interesting about the peanut butter both your DS and Thunder's DS mentioned. WIll give it a try for sure. Poor DH, I always used to tease him that he had chicken legs because his legs were so skinny for such a tall, robust man - now his legs look like matchsticks (his description of them). The loss of muscle mass ir really bothering DH - he has worked out forever but that mass soon diminishes when you aren't using them on a regular basis.
Is it this weekend you go to TO with Noah Betty? Is Kyle not working at the arena this winter?
Laura what kind of bed did you decide to invest in? I use the word invest as it seems in order to get a good bed anymore it costs you an arm and a leg. You are probably up and starting your day and I am thinking about getting a couple of hours sleep in before DH wakes ay 7.lol
Dianne
Morning all, coffe on, meant to bake cookies but soldered a lamp panel instead..bad me!
Mary, yikes, says tornado warnings for next few days in your neck of the woods..Says it could hamper Superbowl celebrations...please be carefully...do you get to be with some of the advertisers while game is on? Be careful...
I know that many of you are preparing for Super Bowl parties..don't think it's a big deal here, perhaps I'm wrong and I've never been around men who have enjoyed the game..
Didn't sleep well, got home from work last night, had not talked to Dar yesterday so thought I'd call before having hot bath and looking forward to an easy evening..no answer, so that's good right, she went out for supper...only to get an email that she didn't take my call, apologized, said that the day was worse yet and couldn't stop crying, had taken something to relax , was off to bed and would call me this morning..guess that was on. My mind so little sleep!
Dawn and Dianne, I also remember getting cod liver oils at s hook then at home as grandma would make me take it..omg I still want to gag..she later had me try it with orange juice, not any better elieve me.
Dianne are you and Warren getting any sleep at all?? Your days and nights must run one into the other...sending hugs along with prayers..think weather for you over last few days has been a Godsend, Except for the ice situation. When does Warren go back to the doctors?
On a lighter side Dianne, my piece should be camed and ready for pick up this afternoon, soldering needs a touch up so I've changed the tip on my solder iron and now that the piece will be stronger I'll be able to make some touch ups..Gail as SG studio sold me the came nail polish for lack of better description which makes the came as black as the patina'd black..guess if it's ready I'll do that tonight and say 'fini' after that not sure if it's something I'll keep or give away..latter is more likely.
Thunder so glad hubby is doing as well as is is..now that shoes he did no more than what he was told..remind him, his doing so well does not mean he can start to do more than he should. Ahhh thunder you must share what project you are working on..I always get wound up and raring to go by seeing all everyone does..
LindaKay,midd you ever try the rag slippers..what size do you take, perhaps the ones I made might fit you.
Sure wish Bev would post with an update..miss her photo's, well drats just miss her!
Shirley, mhow did your first day go?
Laura, did not having tomatoes help the little one..are you more convinced that is it?
Look at the time, must run..not used to working Fridays..off at 3:00 though so not as bad..then 6 work days off..hurrah!
Waving to all I've missed

Omg, double omg..
Absolutely stunning, she will be so thrilled..love the softness of the colors
Nice work LindaKay
LK that is an absolutely stunning piece of work. I love the colours! Your friend will be just estatic when she receives it. How is Heather doing these days LK?
Thea how are you doing today? Did you get all that freezing rain that was forecasted? Our lane is such a disaster area even sanded. It is glare ice the whole mile out to the township road. Sure hope I don't meet someone on the lane when I venture out.
Betty - Warren seems to be getting lots of sleep it is me who doesn't.Never did get a nap in before DH awoke.Woooo Hooo on the 6 days you have coming up.
Need to go throw some blocks of wood around.
Dianne
Dianne, this morning I almost sideswiped a car on back concession..road has to have 4 to 6" of snow which is ice covered...I was driving in the melted tired tracks and the other doing same, plenty safe..when the rut pushed me over the ridge..Lordy not sure how we didn't hit..chore walking from car to house..you be careful, do you absolutely have to go out??
Can the doctor give you something so you can sleep or would your body fight it with all going on??
Heather is due in just a few weeks, and her body is fighting all the way. She has morning sickness again, and even after the taking
her nausea pills, she still gets sick. She keeps going into labor, then it stops. She is not eating enough and not getting enough rest. Her due date is 9 March, but I think she will deliver by Valentines day? I am going over there this week -end for her baby shower. Leaving in the morning, and I won't be back till Monday afternoon sometime.
Betty, sure glad to did not hit anything! Hope your OK?
LK that's gorgeous!!!
Betty I could not handle driving in that crap!! I would be freaking out all the way, actually probably stop to bawl a few times and not much scares me. Glad you didn't hit them!!
Oh Betty I am so glad you had a near miss rather than a crash. Still gets the ole heart pounding deosn't it. I had to go as I needed to pick up Rxs for DH and also a new sleeping pill for me to try. You are right my body fights most sleeping pills and I end up wider awake than I would be if I hadn't taken it. I am just not a sleeper. With the sand the lane was better but I wouldn't have wanted to drive down it if I didn't know the road. Problem is you can't walk it either as it is so ice covered.
Have fun at the shower LK. How long a drive is it for you? Well that's just the pits for Heather. Did she experience these problems with other pregnancies?
Dianne
It is about a 3 hour drive. She had regular pregnancies before, this one is just giving her fits!
LK - drop dead gorgeous lap quilt!!
Betty - better you burn with solder, than baking LOL
OMGosh! So glad you didn't crash!!
A book a day, eh? Well, I'm sure by then that eye surgery will fix whatever goes wrong with my eyes by then (My eyes are fine, as long as I wear my glasses lol I've been wearing glasses since I was 2 1/2!)
LindaKay, you remind that baby that March 2 nd is arrival day!! You enjoy your days away!!
Susan, lol. That solder has burnt flesh from time to time, ask Dianne if that doesn't smart!!
Actually at the Christmas tree store they have those rolls of a kind of Teflon where nothing burns it or sticks to it..works wonderful under the piece you solder..need one more roll to make extra large piece..almost tempted to take the one I have out of the oven..don't use the oven that often.
Dianne, somewhere I had a tape that I would play when I didn't sleep, it's a relaxation tape, you know, soft male voice giving breathing and movement directions..actually did work well..might have loaned it to Ann..will check and if it' around I'll get it off to you.
Judy, you still under the weather?
25 more minutes girl, a stop at a store similar to big lots, stop at SG studio then home
Bet you can tell how excited I am!!
mmmmmmmmm relaxation tapes........... I like 'em. Especially the ones with soothing music. Just have to remember NOT to play them on the drive home from work. lol
Lol.
Soft music but he gets you to get comfy, concentrate , put your arms near your body, relax shoulders move fingers, on and on, think he hypnotizes you
Oh happy days, am home, already had hot bath and in my Jammie's!! Just as content as I can be!
Picked up my SG piece, was going to finish it tonight but just going to put my feet up and enjoy the evening..I'm impressed that finally I can take it off my list of " to do's"
Give my head a shake, I did fall in love with a modern piece, no pattern, just got to be creative so bought supplies, let's see if I can't design it and finish it this month..DIL would love it!
Sure hope there is something goog on tvbto keep me awake until at least 9pm otherwise I'll be keeping Dianne company all night.
Debbie, you are awfully quiet, you ok?
Barb, hope you are relaxing and feeling better!
Katie, she was leaving to visit with. Her niece right!
Nobody around to play with....
Sounds like your going to have a nice relaxing evening Betty!

I will Lindakay..hard to think that not that many years ago I looked forward to Friday nights to go out dining and dancing, now look at what I've become. Lol
Do you leave in the morning?
What a wonderful message, Betty..........
A wonderful message....makes one stop and think.
It is my opinion that it is the tomatoes.....that has been out of his diet and no problems.
My little man loves veggies and fruits. I even made homemade tomatoe sauce and that caused all kinds of problems.
Been busy repainting the kitchen and cabinets.
Lk have a safe and enjoyable trip.
Laura, sure hope that's the answer..could his not wanting to go to school stem from being frightened of not being well?
Painting cupboards, now that's a big understaking...are you stripping them and repainting?
Too much work for me, the people who owned this place before me, dump city had painted them about 3 times , coat over coat so what I did was sand to antique to make it really old looking...
Can't wait to patina in black and paint the came, maybe then I'll like it
Yes, I will leave in the morning.
Betty, that is so pretty. What is a came please?
If you see the outer edge Lindakay , it's the hard metal around the piece that makes is strong and holds the chain ..I'll take a better photo
Are you only going for a few days? Long ride for a few days ..look who is talking, the girl that drives 3 hrs to Buffalo and 3 hrs back in a blizzard in me day. Lol
Betty - I wish you were here - we're looking to replace our "fake" stained glass window in our sanctuary.
I call it "fake" cuz it's the stick-um that was used in the 70's and I didn't realize it was a vinyl peel-and-stick until I got close to it. The one Stained Glass company we used has apparently moved.............. maybe to Airdrie, but we can't confirm it.
Betty, I had a rough couple days, but I am Ok. And tonight my Shane is home. So just taking it easy.
Those blobs sure are pretty! What are you doing with them?
I will be there till Monday. Coming back in the afternoon.
This message was edited Feb 3, 2012 7:48 PM
Debbie, just having Shane home will make you feel better...are you doing too much?
Susan, wish I did as well!
LindaKay..it will be a window hanging, almost as large as what I just finished..inside decorative piece is 14 x 18" then double row of diachronic bevels..
Been sitting here gabbing to Darlene, she wanted to talk for a bit so as we talked I foiled almost half of the blobs..relaxing but am now thinking a balogna/cheese sandwich and early to bed is in the offing!
Betty, when I went to the doctor he thinks I am having back spasms, and that is the partial cause of pain.
Yes, did a bit much cleaning up things that were driving me crazy and getting rid of some papers staring at me! Made the most delicious soup yesterday....and used the "rachel ray" technique of having a "garbage bowl" and sat on the couch and peeled my potatoes as I couldn't stand for long. I hadn't made this soup before....but it was potato, ham, celery & onions...finely chopped, a chicken broth & milk base....and so so good.
Hello To All !
Deb - that sounds Yummy ! Will be interesting to see if Shane hangs around the house. I'm thinking he will maybe because he misses you so much ?
When DSD1 came back one time she even stayed home one night to play a game with DH and I... she did her "partying" too though!
LK - that quilt is gorgeous love the colors!
Betty - We're supposed to have Thunderstorms but think the tornadoes are north of us....kinda glad for rain as I have inside things that need to get done. taxes and reading. Superbowl is a huge deal but none of our teams are playing. not as much talk about it this year after the huge LSU and Saints disappointments.
when I first started this job... we were able to sell it for our area. Imagine.. local commercials in the game... 30 seconds long.... were $15,000 !!! for ONE commercial.....
I did sell a "going into" the game break for $1,000... was a very small customer and they just wanted to be a part of the excitement. They were very happy with their spot.
Dianne - I wonder if Ambien might help? Mom loved it and I've tried it back early this year when I had problems sleeping.
At any rate I do hope you get some sleep.
Laura - glad you've figured out the problem. Goes to show sometimes it can be something you wouldn't normally consider...
I'll be back in a bit....
(HUGS)
Mary
PS: T.G.I.F. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mary, they made it sound as thought it was going to be high risk tornadoes..perhaps in another part of Louisianna! Best of luck on the cleaning..doesn't sound a lot for football commercials, I would have thought it would have been in the hundreds of thousands.
Debbie, yikes, Bach spasms..horrific pain. Enjoy Shane's visit..did Paul pick him up? Perhaps you said but I cannot remember.
