Betty, what is jube? Love that painting!
Best/worse&what did I learn today..chat with friends!
OMG Crissy, she must be going through the 50 want to be 18 syndrome lol
Lean Cuisine? should be doing the same!
But Suzanne asked if I wanted to go to the Mall food court for lunch, I always get chicken souvlaki with greek salad and rice..mouth watering so I'll save the thought about Lean Cuisine for another day.
Linday Kay, jube/jubes..hmmm wondering what you call them???
soft red candies, maybe like the inside of jelly beans?? drats I dont know,
Yeah, Jujubes are candy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jujube_%28confectionery%29
I think she's going through a 'I want to be a drunk' syndrome. I almost hope that I never see her again, I just can't deal with that much of a high maintenance person. That was unreal! I lost 30lbs on eating Lean Cuisine and popcorn every day for lunch and mid-afternoon snack, then a normal but smaller amount Dave dinners. That's when I learned that I do not have to eat the whole T-bone steak! I've gained 12lbs back and I want to lose another 10lbs more than the original 30 so I have 22lbs to lose. I know I can do it!!!!
Wow Crissy, is that since you were here..you are tall, don't want you to be a skinny minnie..
That's how you spell it..lol yep they are good, ask me, just ate a whole bag while painting, such a slow process
It's hard to keep up when I'm not here for two or three days. I'm going to San Diego next week and may spring for a new computer as it's so frustrating not to be on line when I'm home.
Worked very hard on terracing the arroyo on the west side of my house yesterday. Lots of plans finally came together so I got things laid out and cut the sidewalls out of about two dozen tires. Told Tony today that he has to turn them inside out as if I try to do it I will fall down - my balance is not that good. I worked six or eight hours and today I can hardly move. Guess I will sort books for a day or two.
Although I can hardly move today it is exciting to finally see how to terrace the arroyo. It's the kind of thing that looks good in books on planning but requires a lot of tweeking when translated to an actual hillside.
Meanwhile, the living room is gradually getting back together. The lower shelves are back in place and ready to have the contents restored. I need to make curtains for them. Not today.
The new front garden is also coming along. I have lots of aloes and other succulants ready to go in as we get the beds prepared.
My body is sore and my brain is at least half-dead but I wanted to let you all know I'm thinking about all of you and I'm hanging in.
hugs. katie
Oh yeah, I lost that last summer. For my age (39) and height (5'9") I'm supposed to weigh about 150lbs, I got up to 185, so I lost weight and dropped 2 sizes and now I'm back up 1 size. NO NO NO NO NO!!!! LOL
Katie!!! So glad you chimed in. I can't stand not having a computer to get online with at home, don't know what we ever did without these things. LOL I have no balance either so I can understand your pain with that. I bet that is exciting!!
Hi All!
Just waiting for the packing blanket to finish washing and then will hang out on the line to dry. It's suppose to get to 63 or so here today. It's wonderful and I don't miss the snow. It's a bit windy but that will make everything I hung out dry nicer. I need to sweep the floors yet and iron those uniforms.
My sis from MO left for home this morning, we had a great time with my Mom & sis. Mom was more alert and eating well. She loves the cookies I made, about all she wants to eat. Hopefully Mom's days will be a little brighter.
I wish my flowers were blooming. It won't be long. Six more weeks of winter whether the groundhog sees he's shadow or not. I can wait.
Just tells me to get my indoor stuff done so I can work outside when it gets nice.
My brother and wife have a sleep by number bed and love it. We thought about it but never did. So enjoy I've never heard anyone complain that has gotten one.
Okay, just got to go get my stuff done and will chat later.
Shirley
Betty - we have about 3 dinners/year and several teas (bazaars and just plain teas).
Every Sunday, after service, we have Fellowship time, which involves coffee/tea and baking. It would be nice if people would help with the dishes, setting things out, etc
Twice a year we do a deep clean of the church, and get 6 people out - and we do some easy stuff like dusting chairs, etc.... no reason someone can't put in one hour dusting chairs (it's a sit-down job).People just seem to think it's not THEM we're talking to.........
Lunch was delicious..really hanging my head in shame Crissy, I weigh that and I'm 5' but then I'm not (39) lol
Katie, that is one tremendous amount of work you've accomplished in a short amount of time..wow! Can just imagine you sitting out looking over your work and seeing your plan come to life. Now if you can get to where you are no longer in pain it will be wonderful. Sure do hope you can purchase a computer, don't know what I'd do without mine. Will you be seeing your specialist while you are there?? Visiting with your niece right?
Shirley, glad you had family time with your sister and that your mom is became more aware while she was here..
You also a busy lady, trying to get everything in order before you start work Wednesday..what I did not ask was do you have a long way to drive? Let's hope this winter stays much the same so it will not be a worry.
Beautiful and clear out there BUT one never knows so will switch the telephones to my house just in case it's not pretty tomorrow. Wishful thinking right?
My desk looks as though its been hit by a tornado with brushes/oils/cleaner...more genesis oils on my clothes than on the piece..so time consuming
How are things at the office Susan?
That is quite a few events to have but a few helpers. Think it's much the same at most churches and organizations, always the same people thus burn out city!
Katie sounds like you have your hands full. But will have a beautiful landscape when finished.
Susan I would agree only certain person volunteer and then others never bother to give a hand.
Betty are they calling for some more white stuff????
Sunshine here but windy.
Time for homework.......
Hello all .... popping in again. Been several days since I was here and just finished reading up.
Waving at Judy (Seedtosser) ~~~~~~~~~~~ Yep, I'm invading more threads. lol There are several people on here I know, but a bunch that I don't.
Betty, that stained glass is just beautiful. Wish I had the patience and a place to make nice things like that!
Chrissy, you are about my height but I am a wee bit (more like wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bit) older than you. I am going to have to try the Lean Cuisin's. I've been trying to diet but just can't give up my popcorn addiction. lol I feel best at 140, so it will take me a while to get there, but if the dinners help, I can do that. I usually don't eat much in the evening anyway.
Well, time to start supper. Will see u girls later.
Oh Betty, did I understand you already mailed your swap package from Buffalo? If so, did you get a conf # you can dmail me?
Crit, I like the lean cusins...very good but I have to be careful and read all ingredients, which sometimes is harder than making something from scratch! Between the VERY small print and everything having soy....it gets hard, but the ones I have had are very good.
I can tell you, DO NOT eat a Marie Callendars chicken pot pie! OMG they are SO SO good, and so so fattening! Of course I read that part after I ate it! oops.
Evening all, streamers still in my area, beautiful Georgian Bay, but ohhh so pretty..an earthly angel, I'm assuming Cathy had all the decks shovel led, pathways done, sure do appreciate..think I'll call Kyle tonight and have him come get the snow off back she'd roof then I'll be A ok.
All the furries have found their own resting place for the night, of course I'm already in my Jammie's so the evening will be relaxing for us all!
Crit, I'm going to be in trouble, yes mailed my Valentines Day sway Saturday morning from buffalo.. In fact Debbie took the roll of tape from me, I'm sure any of you who have received my packages know its a chore to unwrap as I'm tape crazy... Back to the confirmation number, paid the extra for it, yep, knew it was part of swap rules BUT I was doing illegal things, Shhhhh. Don't tell border patrol..had a bunch of goodies in a bag, said it was a gift from a friend, still have to declare value which I did (value far exceeded what I said) but all he said was 'have a nice day'. Wasnt sure how the crossing would go so just incase, i threw out all my receipts, guess where confirmation slip is?? If not received in the next week I'll send another with confirmation..only ever had a parcel not received and that was this Christmas to Dianne, had conf,# and all but it was our Canada pst that lost it.
Wish I weighed 140!!
Debbie how did you make out today? We're the roads bad for driving. Hmmm have to check for that brand seeing is I love chicken pot pie..has izzy taken over your blankie?
Dianne and Warren, wondering how you both are doing? Hopefully you've managed to get some rest and that no doctor appointments brought you out in the storms..imagine
tomorrow they are calling for mild temps.
Thea how are you doing, back any better? Saturday morning if you remember I said I could see the gardens outside, little to no snow, tonight I've snow banks about 3'
Debbie I just love Marie Callenders chicken pot pie yummmmmm sooooo good.
I wished I weighed 140lbs.
Betty send the snow down this way...we have had none .
Laura, bet your little one would love to play in the snow..usually you have some right?
Betty, the roads were amazingly clear. PT went OK, I had to have measurements ...shows improvements, etc. Then had a doctors appt. at 1:45 and he put me on some meds to hopefully help with the back & nerve pain. It is a no win situation.....because you take the meds...feel better, and you sleep all day! You don't take the meds, you have the pain and hurt too much to do anything. Have to wait and see how it affects me and side effects....so I know I can drive, etc. He spent a good 25 minutes just talking with me about everything and then 10 minute exam and scripts.
That blanket has become an issue. I have yet to use it as Franky & Axl followed me in the house with it, smelled it...gave it the once over and planted themselves on it. Your kitties had to lay on that or something, they smell them....and apparently like what they smell. I have picked up the blanket and moved it....and they find it, and back to sleep! Axl (the baby) just loves rubbing his face on the soft frays....it is strange!
Sometimes Debbie, meds create more of an issue than what you need help for..I'm sure straight sleep for continual hours will do you good. Yes, the flannel blocks were cut and ragged and left on the table for sewing in rows..once sewn thr rows were set back on the table so you just got to know that Missy and Riley enjoyed the comfort and that their scent was in the fabric..can't hurt the rag quilt, just share with them and wash more often. Lol
Spent an hour on the telephone with Darlene..so many things to look after, was upset, says she has never met more rude people then some of the people she has had to deal with these past weeks; today is a month since Mike passed on so adds to her sorrow..had a nice talk..weather permitting all the girls will come to paint tomorrow, there will be no way those girls won't get a laugh out of her. Quite a group they are with their cabitsing..
Hot chocolate and toast in order
Hello to all !
OMG Deb... NOW you tell me... that's exactly what I had for dinner tonight...Marie Callendars Turkey Pot Pie... Yum but yes - can't eat those often....
Wow - Laura - Tomatoes.... so is he allergic ?
Katie - glad to see you post... safe travels ! Hope you get a computer.....
Barb - I can just hear in your 'voice' you sound more relaxed .... so glad for that. Would love to try to stay at more B&B's
Shirley - Glad you got to visit with family :o)
Going on disboards and will check back in a while.....
OK, whats up....where is everyone? This isn't normal.
I have been abandoned.
I am an orphan.
Betty? Crissy? LindaKay? Thunder? Thea???????????
lips quivering....sniff sniff.....
I is here..lol
Keep looking at the posts and usually just me gabbing, thought I'd give you all a break!
lol Debbie...I was wondering the same thing!!!
Maybe everyone has a long sleep today!!
Well more freezing rain and snow on the way...just what we need...NOT!! I am getting so tired of this @$%R!@#% weather...it is either too $@%@! cold to go out or it is a skating ring and too dangerous to even go to the mailbox!!
Plus my DEAR body does not like this kind of weather and reacts with pain to it...oh well could be worse and this too shall pass.
Off to cuddle with my heating blanket and my book.
Wishing you all a great day and all stay safe!!!
Love and hugs
Thea
Morning everyone! I was here at 6, and no one is posting anywhere, so I went to facebook...
How about some hot chocolate, and banana muffins today!
Betty, are you working from home today?
YAY!!!! I feel better now. Do you know how it is ...opening a thread and you think something happened in the world and they forgot to tell you???
Everyone was gone! Even my "normals" were not on FB this morning! lol
Honest, it wasn't the drugs....it wasn't.
Sleep HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I was getting ready and driving to work, anyone else want to join in this party?? LOL!!!
I would say that my body doesn't work well in this kind of weather either, but it's 70* here today, normal temp is 49* and there's a storm coming in tonight, it could become a pretty bumpy ride if the temp stays where it's supposed to be later on.
I'm going to be away from the computer most of the day today and I probably won't be on in the morning at all. I have to scan a bunch of stuff on the copy machine out front and tomorrow there's going to be a class. I'm not teaching it but I know someone whose coming to it so will be with her most of the day.
See you all in a while!
Mornin' everyone.
Oh yes, Marie Callendar does make 'the best stuff'! I love the escalloped chicken and noodles and the escalloped tuna and noodles. I get the 'family size' and make it for DH and I occasionally.
My body doesn't take cold and damp. Even on my meds, the fibromyalgia really gets me down. Woke up to 56* this morning, although overcast and windy. Feels like spring! A small front coming through tonight with a chance of rain. We really need it. We are in the 60's until Friday. Very unusual January weather for us!
Hello, Hello...We are back!!
Wow, so good to see you Shirley. Woohoo and congrats on the job. I am with you, can't wait for Spring.
Well, the cold finally got to me, i am sick, ugh and more ughs too.
We did have a very nice weekend at the Cottage! It was very nice to see the lake blanketed in snow.
As always, DH got in a real good rest. He is not one to sit for 2 seconds without something to do. So to see him actually sit and read an entire newspaper was pretty cool. Joyce,Heather and Chris came and they had a nice retreat from routine as well. As so for me, yippee, Just did a lot of fill in puzzles! Oh and I started reading the Hobbit!!
Came home and jumped in on the basement again. Cleaned out my brothers old room, Now the pool room. Julia ad I are re-organzing it. We are making it a nice little play room. MY gosh, We have a ton of closet space, so getting things put away, now well just have to remember where we put things, lol.
In between, the never ending laundry, which mean Sock brigade again...What ever is not matched, Im tossing, lol.
OMG, DAWN!!! How wonderful to see you! LOL, Have to go back and re-read what you have been up to...
Debbie and Betty, So glad you had such a great visit...Had to smile Betty, just listening to music while driving in a blizzard! Yikes you are a brave one, and i am so glad you got home safely.
Saw your stained glass pieces. They are fantastic. Awe and the little apron is too cute!
Mary, oh what beautiful flowers!!
Thunder, So glad Daves Surgery went well and he is home and on the mend! How great he is following strict orders. Loved how he instructed on fixing the water problem!
Waiving hi Dianne!! Thought about you this weekend, We have a wood stove at the cottage, I have to show you my mini. Was telling Joyce how you have a wood stove. They are wonderful but it sure is a full time job keeping them stoked!
Debbie, glad you got through the PT...What are you up to today??
Barbara, So smiling at your weekend get away!! So glad you found the material you've been looking for.
I think during some breaks I need to get back to my memory quilt...It's been nice to not work on it though, lol.
Found a block, i want to play with, but i need to pre-think of how it goes together, haha.
Well...Birdie figured out how to get into the basement!! Now we have to be absolute sure all lights are out when were not down there. I am just scared she will get lost in the rafters! But when she is down there, she stays snuggled on anyone's neck...
Jake did very well on the wrestling meet over the weekend...OMG, and his picture is in the paper!! Usually only Seniors are pictured, so we were very surprised.
Our neighbor once again brought us his copy...he's so cute, highlights everything written about Jake...I've got to get a photo album and start a scrap book, lol adding to my list.
Waiving Hiya Crissy and Mary,Linda Kay, Laura and Thea hope you are all having a good day.
Linda Kay,hows your tea cup blocks coming along?
Oh, Hi Katie, You sound quite busy witht the landscaping!! Sounds like it's coming along nicely.
OK, well i better get of computer and get on the basement some more, hoping to get it completely finish by Thursday/Friday.
Enjoy the day, nice and sun shiny here having another heatwave, suppose to be in the 50's!
Judy, I took my new meds...and am not doing much outside the house as I want to make sure they don't zonk me out. I don't need much reason to nap....so I just want to make sure I am "home based" just in case. I have enough to take care of. I put some laundry I need done in a pillow case so I can "toss it" down the stairs. I still can't carry laundry baskets and heavy stuff....but as my DM would say "Where theres a will theres a way".
Also need to get the dog brushed out and put some things away from Christmas I still haven't packed. I just can't crawl into the closet and pull the totes out.
SO SO happy you and Steve had a good restful weekend. I am learning to live with "semi" empty nest....and didn't think it would be this hard with Shane gone. Gosh I miss him so much. He has been better about getting in contact as in "mom, I need money to get two more books......"
Hey, its a start! AND.....he has a few new roommates.. The boys went and got more fish...it was too quiet! ROFLOL The fish must add entertainment and noise (airater bubble machine).
Debbie - I's here, too!
I've been busy cataloging books for our church library.
then I need to print all the labels, put them on, and move on to the next stack of books.........
A friend & I are listing another batch on Saturday morning. (bringing lunch lol)
Who'd have thought that writing all the titles, Googling for their topic, and then putting a Dewey Decimal # to them would take so long LOL And we've done more than 1/2 of them.
I have these teeny, tiny labels to type all the codes on, then we'll have to put them on the books, and shelve them!
The library is brand new, but the books aren't LOL Once in a while I actually am able to find out the category online and get the code that way!!
I've never set up a library before, so this is a new challenge!!
Hi, i think i'm done for the day! I feel like crapola. So going to lay on couch and maybe take a lil snooze.
Where is everyone? Must be out and about, weather here is like a Spring day...
My houseplants are starting to bloom!! So think Spring is right around the corner, I sure hope.
Betty, what are you doing, you must be busy, busy...
Debbie, Hope the meds didn't knock you out. Do you have a cooler on wheels? Maybe put that at bottom of stairs to catch laundry then just roll to machine...OMG, I should do that too!! lol. Awe, Deb, I know you miss Shane, I'm glad he still call or txts...i think it's real neat the boys got some more fish! Will he come home on the weekends?
Susan, sounds like likes of work for the library...You seem to be enjoying it, good for you.
Judy, he actually text me this afternoon with "Can dad pick me up after work Friday so I can come home for a bit?" YES!
Now the fact he will come home and probably go over to a friends house the entire time...is another situation. BUT will deal with that then! lol
DH is having is Super Bowl Party on Sunday also. But that will be too late to get him back to the dorms unless DH does it before work (can you say 2:30 a.m.) on Monday morning.
I have 2 sets of stairs to carry that all down Judy. From our bedroom down 16 steps to the main floor...thru the house...and then another 8 steps into the basement. SO, that won't work. BUT a good idea.
Debbie ... I was just wondering. You have figured out a great way to get the laundry to the basement, but how are you going to get it back UP again? lol Guess that is what DH's are for, huh? Sounds like Shane is adjusting to college life pretty well.
Weather here has been in the 60's some last week and this week. The wind is really blowing though. It is so much like March when spring is just gearing up, before we get the last winter snow blast. lol We always seem to get one in late March/early April. Freezes everything back and they have to recover. I really wanted to go horseback riding, but have really been hurting for several days. Dr. increased my meds, but I still didn't feel like saddling up. My saddle is heavy and usually doesn't bother me, but I just couldn't get excited. That isn't like me when the weather is warm. I went several times last week though.
Hello To All !
LOL Deb.... that's how I felt like last night.... it's like you say "hello" and hear the echo....
Glad Shane will be home for the weekend... he might invite his friends over for the Superbowl. Judy - Congrats again to Jake... how wonderful ! Is he our only High School Student left here after my DSD2 graduates in May?
LOVED the Hobbitt... must have read a million times back in school... I'm reading the Eragon series because DS's GF loves them... I'm on the second one "Eldest".
Not usually into fantasy but it's interesting.
Waving... Crit, Dianne, Thea, LK, Susan, Crissy, Betty, Shirley, Thunder, Suse, Bev, Etc... always like to mention everyone but then always leave off some very special people....
I'll pop back in a few...
((HUGS))
Mary
Our weather was 60F the other day....... wow was it nice!
Debbie - yeah, how DO you get the laundry UP? lol How about a dumb waiter? LOL OR a DH lol
yes Judy - I do love organizing lists, etc. Today, when it was Very Quiet, until 3pm at work, I was working on my Book Cataloguing. At 3pm I was asked to do something that will take 3 hours LOL I finished work day at 4:30, so I'm back to the project tomorrow morning, bright and early!
Tonight I'm going to type up some book labels........ This first half of the books is only 225 books, so now that I have the "template" for what to do and how, the next 1/2 is going to be easy.
Yes, I have a dumb waiter....aka DH like you guessed! haha HOWEVER we will be up the creek in a few weeks when he has knee surgery and can't do it either. Will have to come up with something. Our laundry baskets are always about 8lbs more than the laundry as Axl is very INSISTANT about a ride up on top.
DH did go to the eye doctor today, and still has swelling in the back of his eye from surgery. Back on the eye drops to counteract that, on drops for four weeks 3 X day, then 1X a day for two weeks...back to doctor.
Mary Shane read the Eragon books and he loved them. He is a reader and I hope he is doing some of that in "spare time" at school.
I am excited he is coming home and wondered about him wanting to bring a roommate home, but I think too soon for that just yet.
Be back...
Debbie
Isn't that funny Debbie ! Shadow will climb in just about any basket or box you put down.... I've enjoyed Eragon, but the books are SO huge... and I couldn't "just" read the first one... left me 'hanging'.... so I suppose I'll have to read all four....but it has given me some opportunity for nice conversations with the GF....
Susan - is this library new for the church ?
Mary, Axl will get up from a nap to follow us downstairs....and soon as he hears that dryer door open and we start pulling things out, he is in the basket. Maybe the warmth? But I do remember as a baby I did have him and his sisters in the basket to contain them a few times. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.
The wind is picking up here again. I am sure not liking these wind storms this year. Has been worse than many past, unless just because I have no snow to blow around...it seems louder.
I have PT in the morning and a few errands, but I am really working on decluttering this house. It is overwhelming and I feel like we could be on hoarders. DH will not let me throw anything away if he is watching!
Mostly need to get my body motiviated and moving...but my brain and body are NOT on the same page! lol
Sweet dream
Debbie
I can put ANY Box, or basket out in the living room and you can be sure Shadow will hop in there...
So funny - I watched Shadow last night... perched on the printer and Belle was bothering him... I glanced over and he was licking her face ! SO Funny... she is usually trying to get him to "play" with her.....
Our weather is unusually warm.... sure hope we don't have a horrible cold snap to punish us for this... LOL...
Good luck with PT and the De cluttering.... our house is terribly cluttered and I just am never off work enough to deal with it... I think Hubby is a Hoarder ... he never cleans his mess INside the house but always in the "shed" cleaning that out (and it is never cleaned LOL)
((HUGS))
Mary
Yes, Mary - another church donated the bookcases in June, and then I (and a friend) went through all the donated books to see if they were appropriate (religion-based only). She called out the names of the books while I wrote them down, and we stamped them with the church's address, etc.
Then I put the list on my computer, and googled to see what the category might be for each one........... phewwwwwww
It actually took longer to get around to categorizing them because it was a daunting task - about 3 months LOL.
Tonight I printed the labels to go on the books. (ie: 248.8SWI ) I didn't have room on the tiny labels for more than that. I really really could have put sub-categories on the labels. When I bought them, I didn't think I would need more #s.
On Saturday we'll write down the rest of the books (videos, bibles, and children's books, mostly). It shouldn't take long.
I really excited about this "little" project.
Some of the books the Church had already, but they were sitting around, and nothing had been done with them except for stamping the address in, and a little coil ring book for putting the "In/Out" lending in.
Hopefully this will spur others on to borrow/donate books!!
