I agree!
sorry for your loss, Ronnie
love that photo
Oh, Ronnie, I am so sorry. My heart is hurting for you, but he was so blessed to have such a loving family, and he blessed you all as well.
Awww, what a great photo. Yes, you should have that one framed.
I took Patches to the vet tonight, as her cyst had such a big, gaping hole in it with nasty fluid coming out all the time that I was constantly cleaning up. I figured she should get an antibiotic before her surgery. She had already been on 2 rounds, but the last round was finished over a week ago. The vet said the cyst was no longer getting any blood supply, so there was a lot of necrotic tissue in it. He shaved it up cleaned it out and gave her antibiotics. About $250 later.....that included heart worm pills and flea and tick stuff for both dogs for one month, and I signed up to have both of those things shipped to my house every month. It's $49.90 a month for the 2 of them. It sure costs a lot of money to take proper care of our pets. Patches goes Thursday for her surgery to remove the cyst.

Nothing cheap about caring for our animals. Sometimes I think I should go to a vet for myself if I want the latest care.
Walking Bella this morning and it was quite dark, and garbage day. Just walking past a big square garbage can by the road and next thing I know I'm on the ground. On my hands and knees starting to get up, I see a skunk right by my head. Never saw it until that minute. Not 1/4 mile before that I had the thought "watch me be late for work because we'll get sprayed by a skunk".
We have been seeing them lately, but this was not our usual sighting spot. It went into the drainage hole under the driveway. I wasn't even sure she got sprayed because it wasn't really strong, but she did. Just finished the peroxide baking soda bath.
You jinxed yourself. :-)
eweuuh! Skunk! What bad luck.
Better Bella than you! :)
ooooo, ICK
I just got back from the vet with Bear. He's been chewing and scratching until he has a bald spot on his butt. The vet looked him over and found a couple of fleas. I think he's one of those dogs that a couple of fleas will drive him nuts. Anyway the Vet gave him a Vetalog shot to stop the itching, a bottle of prednisone so he'll stop scratching until he heals, Three Comfortis pills to kill the fleas and a Parvo, Distemper and something else booster, altogether $160.50. That's more than my last doctor's visit.
Dogs are so easy to give pills to. The comfortis is huge so I wrapped it in cheese and gave it to him. In the process we dropped it on the floor and it became separated. He ate the cheese and pill as well. Hopefully this solves his itching problem.
LOL!
He's gorgeous. If he's like Bear he walks the LONG way through every puddle he can fine.
I've got to find a new place to walk him because the dirt road I used to walk him on somebody or bodies have dumped various animal processing waste that I can't stand the smell and I'm afraid Bear will roll in it. There's guts from several dear, a skinned beaver carcass, feathers galore - gross.
He's actual had a good day. He's going to have had FOUR rides by the time the day is done.
How cute is this?!

Karen, good luck to Patches....I'm sure she'll be fine! Cute photo of Cyrus....that's one smart bird in the video....
Oh, boy, Debi, not goo! Ugh!
Cyrus sure looks good. He's a beautiful boy.
Poor Bear. Yup, those vet bills will get you every time. Doug, that smell must really be awful. I can just imagine it.
Victor, those videos are cute. I especially like the one of the kitten and the pug.
Karen
Good luck Patches♥
Love Love Love that pic of Cyrus!
Been there with the skunks long before I knew about the peroxide/baking soda $$$
Abby is very allergic to fleas and everything for that matter, comfortis works great for her, I break it in half and she eats it right up.
Great videos Victor!
Thanks Marilyn and Ronnie. She went to the vet tonight. I miss her already. Don't miss that smell of that open cyst, though. That was so nasty!
Karen
How long is the vet going to keep her. I bet she'll feel better once they get it fixed.
Great story.....
Makes you wonder what chemistry made the owner decide to take the cats home.
I've had some remarkable cats that showed me they can sense lots of things. I had just seen a Disney show in which a cat jumps on the little girl's shoulder and rides around that way, and I longed to have that companionship. Suddenly, my tabby lunged onto my shoulder from on top of the fridge. Coincidence? She hadn't done that before.
That story about the cat is awesome.
Patches is home. My sister picked her up. She has a 5 in. incision which is stapled. Those will need to be removed in 10-14 days. Patches hates the cone. Poor girl. I feel bad for her. She is on Rymadil, 1/2 a tab twice a day. She's doing well.
Next week Jerry goes to get his shots. Oh joy, more money spent at the vets.
Karen
Karen so glad to hear Patches made out OK...give her big hugs from me.
Thanks, Ronnie, I will.
I love all the pics you put up of Atticus on FB.
Karen
Patches doesn't have to wear the cone if she is not bothering the wound. So - you could try putting a T-shirt on her covering the wound and keeping her on leash - even in the house - under close supervision with the cone off and give her a break. She will heal quickly and be back to herself before long.
I'm happy Patches is doing well.....my airedale had to have a cone....it drove me crazy, because he kept trying to get into small spaces with it......
I'm glad Patches is doing alright. The one time I had a dog with a cone on he continually had to run into door frames with it.
Hate those cones, Wall-e kept ramming my legs with it, I had bruises
glad patches is home and getting well
Good for Patches. We have had cats with a cone & while they were unhappy, no bashing around.
How cute is this?

Karen - glad to hear Patches is home safe and sound. You can buy a soft cone that blows up like an inner tube. We found one at Petsmart for Molly, and she didn't mind wearing it because the inner tube made a nice soft pillow she could rest her head on. Those cones are barbaric! Molly wouldn't take a step in it. Bailey and Carli wore them when they were spayed to keep them from bothering each other. They didn't mind them either.
Celeste - i love that shot of Cyrus! Ronnie - I have been thinking about you and was glad to see you posting.
I suspect that the cones so interfere with a dogs sense of direction when it comes to sound that it could make them very anxious.
Mr. G would like having someone to play with I think. What a pretty face Molly has. :)
