Hi Louise! Thanks you for the kind words, i'm sorry your still under the weather. :( Hope your feeling better soon, just in time for spring!
Last night was a long night...actually i've been up since 3am. Cyrus had a rough night, he whimpered alot. I made a bed on the floor beside him, which helped calm him but made me sore. Guess it's only fair im sore too. :)
Terra is very nervous around Cy, she's such a mother hen... every time he whimpers she gets up and moves. This went on all night!
Even ROMEO gave me a dirty look this morning! NO ONE GOT MUCH SLEEP LAST NIGHT!!!

aaaaawww

:(

South Hamilton, MA

He will feel better as he gets used to not running around for awhile.

Jen the ashes are in a box with his name. I am sharing some with my GD Sophie and then they will go in the family room on the shelf.

Sampson went in for his 90 days bloodwork and the thyroid came back in normal range - so he is good. His coat is outstanding and he weighs as much as he ever has (he is light for a Maine Coon male) and other than still making me feed him from my fingers - his hyperthyroid is gone and he should be good for many more years as he has no kidney or liver issues.

Good news, Memory! Pixie, hugs to you both! And to Ronnie & Louise......wish we all lived closer, real hugs are a lot more comforting....Victor, thanks for that video....that is the best tempered dog in the world!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

That's great news, Memory! So glad to hear it!

Thanks so much for the nice thoughts, everyone! Marilyn, you are so right, but virtual hugs can also do wonders for the spirits! Funny how my mind keeps wandering to the farm these days.....I get excited thinking about watching all the plants make their spring appearance.

I do have some pretty flower photos to share, but no computer that will link them to DG or ATP. I wish these sites would become compatible with iphones and ipads so I could upload them. We have had to pull up the impatiens already....just too hot for them now. We have had the highest temp in the country several days lately.

Good to hear Memory

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Great news for Sampson and you!!!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, poor Cyrus, and poor you, too, Celeste. I feel for you. Hang in there.

Louise, sorry you've been so hot over there. Must be miserable. You hang in there, too. When will you be coming back up here?

Memory, that's great news about Sampson. Sounds like he's doing wonderfully. I like to hear that.

Since this has been one of the warmest....and driest...winters ever, I figured FL would be hot.....

I cant get them to slow down for a picture yet. She has only been here 4 days and training has not been put into full swing yet. She is still a little nervous.

Neutered Mr G is in heaven. He wont slow down either.

she is good looking Sherrie!!

I FINALLY got one of the puppy owners to send me a photo... this is the one we called Pinky.. he named her Roxy.. not sure if you will remember from the hundreds of videos.. but she was the smallest.. who wouldn't stop barking.. I know Ronnie will remember because she said she would not be able to deal with the constant barking

LOL I do remember! Look how sweet she is ♥♥♥ I just love their little faces.

It's funny, Abby has been a barking fool since Atticus died and it's driving me nuts.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

aaawww poor Abby... and Momma!!!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Barking dogs drive me nuts, too! Roxy is adorable.

Molly and Mr. G are looking good, Sherrie.

A friend just had to put down her dog. She had megaesophagus, where the muscles of the esophagus no longer work properly and the food pools up in there and doesn't make it down to the stomach. They end up aspirating, and getting pneumonia. The dog needs to be fed in a vertical position in what's called a Bailey Chair so that the food can get into the stomach via gravity. My friend spent well over 1K on tests, etc. Her dog was 12. I think if this happened to Patches I would definitely take the steps to feed her this way.

I wouldn't think the spoon would be necessary

Thomaston, CT

Wow.....I don't think my Suey would eat in that....labs love food, so I can see where it wouldn't bother that dog....Molly has a pretty face, and Roxy is a cutie......

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Sherrie - they seem so happy to have a buddy to play with. You did good! :)

Well I would rather cuddle with them as armadillo's carries Leprosy !

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

WHY in the world would you lick the same spoon you just used on your dying dog????? DISGUSTING

Thomaston, CT

I kiss my dog, but not on the lips! But if I knew Suey was dying, I'd hold her ......you pick up more germs in a classroom....and I speak from experience....than from cuddling a dog......

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

That's just creepy...

Thomaston, CT

Too weird for me!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Is the next step freeze-dried MILs??! OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Not mine....

but if they were freeze dried you could have quiet time.

South Hamilton, MA

Freeze dried son in Lawa are just as good. However, we both get along with ours.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

not married.. but I get along with Michele

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I always knew it was not a good idea to allow my dog to eat off the same ice cream as myself!

Freeze dried pets....pretty macabre. I could not do that. The Yorkie looks awful, like it had all matted hair. Maybe the owners never groomed it.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Keep letting them eat your ice cream and they become freeze dried.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I didn't click the freeze dry link.. ick... and I am guilty of letting the dogs lick me too much.. but would never share a spoon with one

East Bridgewater, MA

Growing up, our family's pet labrador retriever had a favorite hobby of licking her anal area...made ya' think twice and thrice about sanitary conditions of her mouth!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

eh.. if I see them licking private parts .. no kisses.. these guys only do that when needed

Durhamville, NY(Zone 5b)

My dog will lick me a times as will my cats. Unless you have a weaken immune system I suspect that whatever your pets have you system has adjusted to and your pets to you and everything is fine.

From what little reading I just did I'll bet these people had other medical problems also. COPD is mentioned as a risk factor. We also know what stress does to use.
Also I only see a case here and there mentioned, not mass quantities of them.

I'll use common sense and not lick a spoon from a sick dog, but am I going to go around and be like "I going to die because my dog or cat licked me" no. Besides isn't cuddling up to a pet one of the reasons you have them?

How is Cyrus doing and is Molly settling down?
