I was really disappointed the peke won...not a fan...the dobie or the Shepard were my picks.

I love dobies - my first choice in dogs.
They are beauties and often get a bad rap as being vicious, sad that that happens.
I had the sweetest, gentlest red guy ever. He found a starling in my yard and picked it up and handed it to me without so much as mussing a feather. My old, toothless, clawless, demented cat used to back him up in a corner going after him and Turk would whine for me to help him. The one time he broke a stay command, he was hit by a car and died.
Oh no how hard that must have been :(
We lived next to one when I was first married, his name was Zeus and he was the nicest dog, sweet as could be to us but wouldn't let a stranger near the yard.
It was.
Oh, poor guy! My DH & I were hiking around a reservoir, when we found a red Dobe...we had our airedale twins at the time...anyway they let us put him in the car....miracle of miracles....we called the dog warden for that town, & he came & got him right away....nice dog, not a bit of aggression in him....
Cyrus is spoiled.
Memory, how sad to lose your dog that way.
Ronnie, I'm sure glad Atticus is alright. Yes, you're right, it could have ended badly if you hadn't been there.
Oh, man, Victor that's horrid!
Karen
Memory that is right up there with Michele's horror story.. her dog was killed by another loose dog that attacked it while Michele was walking him
I met a man walking his dog at the state park yesterday, who said his dog was attacked a few months ago there, by 2 dogs let loose by the owner....HUGE sign at the entrance warns that dogs must be on a leash in the park.....that happened to Suey there several years ago....she had a bite on her face from a golden mix who was twice her size....Awful story about the groomer.....
Makes a person want to carry a taser on a long stick.
Instead of a dog on a leash? ;)
Love that face!
He might be a Pitbull but is the biggest baby dog I have ever had. Cries when daddy comes home, cries when mommy leave, shakes like leaf on a tree when hes left alone in the car and if you scold him his ears go back and he goes and hides.
Never been beaten. Has got his hinny slapped a time or two. Over all a very very good dog. I am happy we adopted him even though I was shaking in my pants when I found out he was a pitty.
Mr. G is a doll...you could tell he loved people right away......
Adorable photo of Mr. G!
Jerry puts his ears back and slinks away when scolded. He knows he's done bad. He is so awful still about finding things to chew up and counter surfing. Everything else he's great about, though. He knows he's not to get up on counters and chew up things. He's been scolded many times for it. He knows not to do it when we can see him. Only does it when no one is looking. Can't turn my back on him even long enough to use the bathroom. He's very good when he's on my bed, though. I can leave him in my room on the bed and go use the bathroom, do something in the kitchen, etc., and he stays on my bed about 99.9% of the time. It's when I leave him in the living room for just a short time that he gets into trouble. Don't know how to stop him. The only thing I can think of is to set up a camera in the kitchen to catch him in the act and have something on the counter that will make a very loud noise that I can set off remotely from a different room. That might scare him enough to keep him off the counters.

Here are some training aids for cats that might work for dogs jumping on counters. http://jacksongalaxy.com/cat-daddy%e2%80%99s-picks/ check out the stay away and the sonic alarm.
Memory, that link didn't work. Got an error message.
Jerry does not actually get up on the counters, but jumps up and puts his paws up there. Maybe those devices would work in that case, too.

Karen - Just go to the Jackson Galaxy website and look for the store link. Those things are under Training Aids. (Haha! "training aids" for cats, hahahaha!)
I always thought tranqualizers would be a good train aid for cats. Not for the cats but for the trainer.
Might actually work!
LOL @ Doug's comment.
Memory, that Tattle Tale sonic pet training alarm sounds like it would work well. I think I'm going to go ahead and get that.

Well went went from happy news to sad news...Atticus didn't make it, we lost him this afternoon. He collapsed again in the yard and wasn't able to come around this time. We decided it was best to put him down. I'm so incredibly sad, I really thought we would have him at least for the summer and he would get to meet the new baby. Seems like this one is the hardest by far.
Oh (((Ronnie))), im so very sorry!!
Oh, so sorry. Sincere condolences, Ronnie.
nnnnnnnnoooooooo so sorry Ronnie {{{{hugs}}}}
I was starting to know Atticus. I'm so sorry he's gone, Ronnie. You did your best for him.
I know.. feels like I lost a friend too
:(
I'm so sad for you. {{hugs}}
Ronnie, that's very sad news. I'm so sorry. I know how much you loved him. {{{{hugs}}}}
Karen

{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
Sorry to hear Ronnie
Thank you all so, so very much.
Ronnie, I know your heart is breaking....he was a beautiful boy....hugs for both of you.....
Thanks again everyone for all the kindness, I know you all "understand" and that means a lot. My heart is really sad for my GD Sophie, she is heartbroken, he was her best friend, she had just turned one before we got him.
So glad baby Domenic is coming home today, lots of hugs for me.
My favorite pic of Atticus and Sophie a few years ago, he never took the cookie
That picuture is a memorial to a terrific dog, and a remembrance of a remarkable pair!
