2012 Sistah's Gathering - Party is at Betty's

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, sure am hoping..it's the nicest when all the phlox are in bloom..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OOO Yeah, I love Phlox

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, here too Crissy... our fruit trees have budded out, then froze back again in Dec. They're budding out again now. They just don't know what to do when it's 70+ degrees in January. LOL.. Don is out mowing the lawn now... just doesn't seem right.

Betty, Your gardens are gorgeous. I will be so pleased just to sit there and enjoy the foliage. Even if you have no blooms, it is still beautiful Don't worry so much about it.

I m trying my hardest to get there.
Do i need a passport ?
is here anyone who is traveling and i can hook up with for a travel buddy ?
i didn't read the whole thread yet so maybe i missed a few things ?
i will keep up a promise.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sue, you need a passport, or a passport card to cross any border.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

You can get it at the post office here. They have 90 day passes for $30, I think it is and the regular passports too, but I don't remember how much they are. I don't have either.

If something changes, you will for sure know. I remember we went to Niagara Falls one year in June and the lilacs were just starting to bloom. I know the weather is much cooler there than here. Our lilacs bloom in April I think.

Well if i can't make it, then do you have skype ? you could sit me on the table on a laptop LOL
Dh is checking into it for me and we are checking our prices on tickets. ect...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just for you Taynors, we will make sure we have Skype...enjoyed our last visit at Cookies...hey, not that far to drive, perhaps you and Cookie could drive up to Janice's and hitch a ride....check driving mileage

I don't know about Cookie , her dad is living with her now. I don't think she would want to leave him that lenght of time.
but i am always willing to hitch a ride with someone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would be difficult..think Janice is about 4 or 5 hours from you.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Sue maybe if I get to go I can fly up to Cincinnati or Dayton or Columbus and rent a car from there. All post offices have different kinds of passports so it makes it reasonable and fairly easy to cross the border. Look into it now though, it can take up to 8 weeks to get your passport or card in the mail.

ok i will look into it tonight.
so what you think we can do together is drive the rest of the way you and me together ? ooohhh ROAD TRIP !!
i can pick you up at the airport. i don't mind driving in my truck. not the best gas but its a new one. with Satellite radio ohhhh ahhhh.
very excited
how many days did you want to go crissy ? would you be staying the whole time or just a few days. ?
i also have to work out the kids. who stays with who and how many days ect...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ok, sounds good! It's super cheap for me to fly into Chicago LOL go figure! Don't get all excited though, I don't even know if I can go or not and probably won't know until May sometime. GGGRRRRRRR Dave wants to go on vacation in April, if we do that I'm not going to be able to come up. Also, my mom is moving back to CA in early summer, possibly June, so if she does that I won't be able to go. Unfortunately there are a lot of 'if's' I have going on.

I have to be back home by July 2nd because of Dave's annual family reunion. I have a new car too with Satellite radio, L O V E it!!! I have a 2011 Corolla 5 speed manual transmission that gets 35mpg, I can go 350 miles on 10 gallons of gas! Maybe I'll drive Dave's 2012 Civic Coupe that is on order but he doesn't have yet hahahahahahaha LOL YEAH RIGHT!!! Like he'll allow that to happen. OOOOO I love your truck, it is very nice but takes a lot of gas and prices are higher in Canada than they are here, I'd rather rent a car that has satellite and save you the mileage and gas money on your truck. If I rent the car you can pay the gas and we split the meals. It's an 11hr drive from Dayton airport to Betty's. If both of us drive we can do that easy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Road trip/road trip. Lol

Omg, the 2 of you together, what a hoot that would be

To dream..

Just bought that 50 million dollar draw ticket for tonight..I'd have a blooming plane chartered for every part of USA if I won. Lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Betty! That's great!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Never mind my house, some south seas island!!

Thelma and Louse ,,,,look out Canada .. ey :) LOL
i hear you crissy. i have to unload the kids on FIL and see if i can get a friend to take over the other two days ect..
with my mom and her cancer also , i just have lots of If's too.
well if no one claims the 2014 reunion ...... hint hint folks.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well Dave put $5000 down for his car yesterday so now we are broke and can't afford to go on any vacations. Hopefully I'll be able to save the money to come up there but with a new car payment whenever the car gets here and the change in price for the insurance I don't know if I'll be able to save anything or not. Pppptttthhhhhhh

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Ohhhhhhhhh, I DO SO want to come up, but the way things are looking, it ain't lookin' good. :-( DH work has been really dismal this month and last. Where he usually runs between 100 & 150 'flag hours' per pay period, (2 weeks) last one was 64 and this one was at 20 yesterday for 1 week. That isn't even enought to cover deductions (medical, dental, etc) and taxes! And with me not working, my measly unemployment it is sad around here! Pray for some 'financial blessings' for us and maybe it will turn around where I can make it.

Baton Rouge, LA

Joining in just because I'm SOooooo envious of you all... Maybe fortune will shine down upon me and I'll somehow be able to make it last minute !
(HUGS)
Mary

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure would be nice Mary!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Best bring your lunch to work and put $$$ in a trip jar..let's see, pop and beer bottle pick up would help the pocketbook. Lol

Verona, ON

Oh Mary I sure hope so! Do you have your passport? WHy don't you get it so "just in case" you are able to come you are all set.

Dianne

Baton Rouge, LA

YAY I see Dianne! Been worried gal... Passport is expired... I'll see how much it is to update...

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Just popping in to say HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to everyone. Still trying to figure out a way that I can make it.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Happy Valentine's Day Crit!!!!!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Finally!!!!!! ---- finally got an appointment with the pulmonologist. I've come to the conclusion that this gall bladder is going to drive me to drink. I have an appointment on MAR 14th!!! Another whole month of this merry-go-round. I guess, from what my primary told me, this guy is the best in the state so I guess I'll just wait patiently(?) again. At least I can get some things done around here that will make life easier if I end up having an operation. Just plain downsizing is making a big difference.

I have to be on the 02 24/7 so have a machine with a 25' tube. It allows me to go anywhere in the house but it can get caught up on anything. Keeping pathways clear has become the normal and has made us much more aware of putting things away!!! Slow but sure we are.... This weekend we are tackling the kitchen. Cleaning out all the cabinets and the pantry and putting back only what we use. The rest is going to the kids or the swap shop. I can't believe what collectors we have become!!!!

I spent an afternoon with my friend Elaine last Friday. She has been cleared to drive with one eye and came to see me. We spent four hours just gabbing about everything... Her dr has not said anything about how long this condition may last. She is learning to talk and eat in a whole new manner. I never gave a thought to only using one side of your face and having no control over the other side. She is doing spledidly though and I'm so proud of her. She goes back to work this week.

I also talked with Judy the other night (seedtosser) and she is so excited about a project I'd sent her some info for. She is flying this week as it's birthday week. Only regret I've heard so far is that she didn't get pictures last Sat. and that some of her family couldn't make it due to auto problems. She is so much fun to talk with.

Must go get laundry started - waving~~~~to all and sending prayers to all in need.
Love ya friends,
Barb

Pretty sad how long it takes to get to see a specialist! Hope they find a solution, and you have your needed surgery soon!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks LK. This has been dragging on now for 6 months and it's getting to me. I'm so grateful to have all of you here - you keep me from getting depressed and that is so precious to me. The last thing I want is to crawl into a hole and stay there till it's over!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Barb, the good part is: you finally have an appointment; bad: it is another month but we will be here to keep you supported.

It truly is amazing how we collect things over the years....only to wonder why later.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Barb so glad you finally got an appointment, but LK's right, it's sad how much time it takes to get in. Judy is a blast, so glad you got to talk to her!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Barb, my family has decided to make our family reunion this year in New Hampshire. We found a nice house to rent for the week near North Conway. I don't know where you are in NH but I hoped you could give me some tips on the quilt shops in the area. You know I have to increase my stash! We will be in the area the last week in Sept. Don't know when you get colors but hope that they are still good when we are there. Any suggestions of places to go would be appreciated.
I was sorry to hear that you could not have the operation when it was scheduled. Gall bladder is nothing to fool around with. I would think they could get you in to see a doctor before March but I know these specialists are sometimes booked solid. Especially if they are good as this one sounds.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, step forward getting the appointment date! You cannot get better than the best now can you...what a lovely way to spend the day, chatting with a friend. Guess Elaine is missing or sewing or can she do a bit of it...it's always fun gabbing to Judy, she sure can energize you can't she..

Janice, glad you are feeling better and planning a family vacation..will be so much fun..how is Tracey and Jonathon doing?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Janice the end of Sept is a beautiful time to be here. And North Conway is just delightful. You will love it. In the meantime I will just have to have Norm take me on an expedition to check out the area for you. Heehee. I love the sightseeing rides we take!!!! I have one of those books listing all the quilt shops all over so I'll check it out and start calling to make sure they are still in business. And since N. Conway is on the border with Maine, I'll check that area too. Only difference being NH has NO sales tax and Maine does. This is great-I now have a mission!!!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks, Barb. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. So glad I could give you a reason to take a sightseeing ride with hubby. I was trying to decide if I was flying or driving in but if there are quilt shops maybe I should drive so I can buy, buy, buy.
The kids will want to do things that will take hiking and my knees wont let me do much of that. I will probably go along to see the sights and keep Jonathan while they go on the hard or dangerous stuff.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)
