Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

unfortunately I'm the techie in this household........... I should ask my NON-techie friend about Skype - I usually help him, not the other way around LOL
He knows NOTHING about his computer, but does know Skype cuz he chats with his brother in Nova Scotia every night, and chats around the globe as well (Japan, etc). Funny, eh? Heck, he can't even figure out how to save an attachment from his email to his desktop.......... He's an elderly fella and what he knows, he knows.....otherwise, well......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Walked in the gardens this morning, sunrise was a brilliant red..had a talk to the plants, asked them to time their growth for the gathering..hope the motherly talk works..now to do the same with Mother nature re weather..if only we had the ability to make things PERFECT..know someone who does, so will be praying that both weather and gardens are at their best for your Canadian visit.

Checked out the Fort down the road, thought it might be something to fill in a morning

Only 10 minutes from the house

Good morning!!

Betty, By the Gathering, your gardens should be in full bloom!
...closing eyes, wishing hard with you.

Oh wow, Love the sound of the Georgian Bay Cruise!! So cool they now have the sunset cruise...

OK, Pulled out the big map, to see about roads...even looked on the Satelite Google has..
Maybe Steve and i will sit down together and get some roads planned out...and i got to say,
I think it's way cool, for first time in my life I will get to see Lake Huron, seen all the other great lakes, big happy smiles on my face...

Waiving Hiya To All...Can't wait to see you in person!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I know you'd be a great hostess Betty.

I'll just be with you all in spirit. ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, you mentioned that Steve wanted to take some back roads...well key in St. Jacobs which might take a bit longer but Amish Country..you would likely be crossing over Detroit way

http://www.stjacobs.com/

Have you been to the falls?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not giving up on the Lord Jaye..hoping he finds a way for you to attend..remember, flight only.. and it could be a flight to Buffalo and I'd pick you up..keep an opened mind

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Trying to stay positive, but reality has this ugly way of rearing through the back door! Lol!

Victoria Harbour, ON

well, shush him away!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, you mentioned Lake Huron, did you know that we have some of the nicest beaches that hold a candle to southern islands?

14 kilometres (9 miles) of white sand beach make Wasaga Beach the Longest Freshwater Beach in the world.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow Betty - that Fort looks awesome! I gather they do a re-enactment of living at the fort? It sure looks like the people love working there, and the visitors have a good time :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

yes, actually interactive..kids/adults can take part in activities from that era..
when I took my grandkids they wrote with feathers, did grinding of corn for bread, then made dolls from corn leaves and then put cornhusks in tar and used to play games..lots of activity..nice way to spend part of a morning in history of the area..Martyrs Shrine right next door

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I saw the picture of the Martyr's Shrine..... beautiful piece of architecture!! I'm a "goner" when it comes to heritage buildings............. :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's really a nice place to visit if you are into it..Martyrs are burried there, lots of photo's and area where the Pope visited..beautiful gardens to walk etc.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Norm and I can attest to the interest of both the fort and the shrine. We had a devine afternoon going through the fort and then on to the shrine. So much history and all of it extremely facinating. Couldn't possibly get bored. And it is soooo pretty!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

have to go in search of our photo's Barb, think I did take some of us in the Fort and Shrine..thanks for the support

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You got it... Your town and the area of Canada that you live in is simply gorgeous. There is a bit of something for everyone. Don't forget to mention the building murals. I especially liked those.... and the sand at that beach is truly white!!! But the best part of our visit was the people. They are so warm and welcoming...

Victoria Harbour, ON

That they are Barb..they loved you and Norm..always asking about the two of you and pray for your well-being.
Murals, yes, it fills in part of the day as well..actually the tour boat leaves where the biggest of all the Murals is painted on grain elevators..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

One of Norm's regrets - that we didn't get out on the water. But we had such a wonderful time. Just too bad Hurricane Irene picked that time to come up the coast and we had to leave early.....Beat her home though even with a stop to meet Debbie and just had time to get things picked up in the yard before she hit. Won't forget that trip ever.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Know how worried you were and could understand why. Long drive home for you both..I so enjoyed your visit..know you haven't been well but the Lord works in misterious ways, you just might be feeling well enough to join us this year and get in the Georgian Bay boat ride...if not this year, always another!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Well, my friend, I just survived my first pulmonary rehab session and even though I flunked treadmill, I'm still upright and breathin'!!! Who knows where I will be at come June/July????

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good for you Barb, that's a great start..all uphill now..
Each time it will get easier and easier I'm sure..sending prayers and hugs

Verona, ON

Way to go Barb!!! Congrats on completing your first session.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, what time is your appointment with Docs tomorrow?

Barb, happy #1 is behind you!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Barb - so glad your first is over with - now that you know what to expect, it should go easier :-)
(((Barb)))

Victoria Harbour, ON

9:00 am Debbie, know I'm goi g for something entirely different but it won't hurt to ask for something for this constant coughing and hacking!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Here's hoping your insurance agency will listen to the Dr's information, and you can get insured again, Betty!!
Yes, the coughing and hacking, too - get it looked after! :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

What a sunshine weekend this has been..now I'm hoping we have the same for the gathering.

Walked the gardens this morning, talked to all the pretties and told them they had to look their best for you all. Now if only they will listen to mamma!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Energy abound, I'm getting sooo excited about some of you taking time out of your busy schedule, some of you when times are tough finding the $$$ to make the trip that I can hardly contain myself.

I haven't been idle, I wanted to TREAT those coming to something special for a day..thought and thought and came up with something and just booked it!! I'm hoping everyone will soooo enjoy...

Rather than a ride on the Miss Midland that just takes you out for a ride I thought you deserved something more special..

My 23' Foxy Lady can't accommodate the numbers to just booked a water taxi from Twelve Mile Lake...oh happy days!!!

We will drive up to Twelve Mile lake (approx 1/2 hr drive) take a boat cruise for an hour then will be dropped off at the World Famous 'Henry's on Frying Pan Bay' (Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have been know to eat there as they have a cottage nearby-sea planes/helicopters and yatches bring in who knows who) lol

We will have the all you can eat panfry or battered pickerel- likely 1 1/2 of our day enjoying eats..for those who may not enjoy fish, alternate menu is available

then back to the marina!!!

Just waiting for final numbers to book Henry's

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

OMG I'm so wanting to be there!!! Norm and I have done these things with Betty and it is such a great time. You are all going to love it. I'm so grateful now that I took that trip last year!!!!
I'll still be in rehab while you gather but my thoughts and heart will be with you all. Appointment with my surgeon is all scheduled July 10th to discuss when so I'm hoping it will be by the end of July. Not the best time of year for recovery but we have AC so it shouldn't be too bad. Rehab is going well - I'm learning all kinds of tricks to help my breathing. Still no treadmill though.
So happy to see you post Judy. We miss you more than you know. Have you been able to sew at all lately?

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

I haven't written lately as life has been busy as well and uncertain. Stacey still has to get a pass for herself and Jonathan to get into Canada, so we are still on the uncertain side. Since Jonathan is under age both Stacey and Chris have to go to the downtown Toledo Post Office to get the pass card for him. With Chris so busy at the restaurant it has been hard to find a time for both of them to so this on a weekday. I hope there is still time to get it before we leave.
I went to Chris's restaurant for Mother's Day and the kids all got together and bought me a pair of beautiful emerald earrings. I have had my ears pierced twice and both were not successful. The first time they were crooked, the second time too low; I've been talking about trying again so Stacey told me she would go with me and hold my hand for the third try. She then got the kids together on the earrings.
This weekend Stacey and I are going to a Get-Together of authors and readers of romance novels. The author Lori Foster lives in Ohio and holds this every year. There will be loads of authors there with their books for signing, workshops, and fun things to do. The hotel is between Dayton and Cincinnati, near Cookie. We go on Friday and come home of Sunday; should be fun.
A friend came down over Memorial Day weekend and we went to Amish country on Saturday and Stan Hewyet Hall (home of the man who started Goodyear Tire in early 1900's). Beautiful Tudor home and extensive gardens. We came home of Sunday night just beat! Went to Toledo for brunch on Monday and then had my ears pierced. Jonathan sat on my lap and held my hand..
I have finished two queen size quilts, numerous rag quilts and a variety of purses and things. I am doing quite a bit a sewing as you can see.
As for the get-together, we tentatively plan to come on Thursday and leave on Monday. Stacey get very sick on water, so she will not want to go on the boat trip and she doesn't eat fish. That will be a good day for her to be with Jonathan in your beautiful garden. I, on the other hand, love boats and could eat fish 7 days a week; I'm so there! Will keep you all up on our plans as time goes on.

Time is creeping up on everyone and almost time to be on their way to Canada to enjoy a wonderful time with Betty. A little green here with envy, but I know I'm going to enjoy the time through pictures everyone is going to take.

Jonathan is such a little dream boat. They grow up so fast.
