Hawks are one of my favorites to see. We actually go on rides to find them!
Nice blog you have there!!

Thomaston, CT

Have been seeing quite a few hawks lately....

Atkinson, NH(Zone 5a)

Have not seen any Hawks lately but they are around. We here them and see signs of a kill. Every now and then all the birds seem to disappear and some times there are one or two on a feeder frozen still and they stay that way for several minutes. We see or hear signs of Red-tailed Hawks and Sharp-shinned.

Ronnie you have to come visit me.. they are almost always around

so sad I can't have the feeders.. the junco's were having a party out there eating the seeds in the garden today

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

There are some winter robins in the tops of trees .
Lets see- - - - Feb 1 is wednesday and the first migrating robins usually show up the first week of March so realistically I can expect to see real harbingers of spring in 4 weeks.
Not bad since its been that long since crismiss.

Thomaston, CT

I saw robins at the farm the other day, but I believe they winter in that swamp....I even saw them last year after all that snow.....

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Some dont migrate. We have flocks that come to a plum tree. There are flocks up by the lake.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks to the starlings and the squirrels I'm out of seed for a few days...I just read to get rid of the starlings keep your feeder empty for about a week so they have to look for food somewhere else. I'm going to give it a shot, sick of them, and they poop all over.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Problem for us is that the starlings still come back but the other birds don't-- for even longer!

Thomaston, CT

Must say I've only seen 1 starling this winter.....not really many birds of any kind!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Only 1 starling for you Marilyn cause they are all in my yard...grrr...feeder is empty and they are still here looking. Poor Red Belly was out there hollering for something to eat!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Today we saw tons of mourning doves, nuthatches are hanging around the feeder. Wild turkeys are strutting around the neighborhood.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I love the nuthatches.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Could watch tthem for hours.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Ilove them too, upside down and paralles, sideways and upright. What a life.

Thomaston, CT

They are cuties!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Me too love how they can walk all over like it's something everyone should master. :)

Sweeeeeeeet

Thomaston, CT

Loved the bluebirds! Not one bird on my feeder today....can't understand it.....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I had dove, chickadees, bluejays and nuthatches all taking turns driving away the BIG gray squirrel.

Not much going on at the feeders. Snow cover is gone and so are some of the birds. Have been trying to get some shots of the Blue Jays but they won't cooperate. These photos are from last year.

Enjoy your evening.

I had a Sharpshined Hawk yesterday. The birds stayed away all afternoon.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

only thing happening here is a tree rat has jumped over my baffles - looks like the baffles have slipped much lower from where they had been - will fix that little problem asap

Thomaston, CT

Saw my red bellied yesterday....no one goes near the feeder when he's there! Also had a red squirrel...haven't seen one in ages....he was jumping at a crow who was trying to get seed....the crow lost out!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I watched the Red Bellied at my feeder go after a sparrow who was trying to feed from the other seedport. They are mean.

Thomaston, CT

Wicked beaks!

Atkinson, NH(Zone 5a)

Off to Florida for a few days, back on Feb. 21. Fox photos taken May 2010. Hope you all have a great week. See you when we return,
John

Wow look at those eyes in pic 3!!!

Just finished watching the movie "The Big Year" about birding...not as funny as I would have liked but as a gardener I can understand the birding obsession

Have a safe & fun trip John & Liza.....
