I have red bellies here too... the flicker I saw here was a lot bigger .. hard to get a photo of him.. fast & shy
WHO'S AT YOUR BIRD FEEDERS
They hang on the rotating feeder and I have to wait for them to circle around into the view for snapping.
nice!!!
I love your feeder set up.
Me too!!
Titmouse?
I had a flock of over a dozen mourning doves yesterday....most I've seen in a long time.....
Thats a lot.I have 2 pairs.
Yes, that's what I usually have...don't know where the flock came from.....
They are so sweet in the summer mornings
First time we have had more that one House Finch.

I have that one, too, Chuck
Did anyone ever try those high frequency things for the squirrels? I wonder if they really work?
John: I feed squirrils at a seperate feeder too. It cuts down on the rapid loss of expensive mixes I like for the other birds.
Squirrils get the cheap stuff in a defunked "Yankee Flipper"
I was told there will be a newer version of the suet feeder out next year. I would get the one with a cage except I like the downeys and hairies and flickers etc.

Randy's step dad gave me a solar sonic thing for the lawn.. supposed to be motion activated.. it didn't work.. the bunny & other critters were still in it's path
oh was supposed to effect the dogs too.. I walked them right in front of it.. nothing no reaction
My "Yankee Flipper" bird feeder was a riot to watch. It has a ring perch that the squirrils usde to hang on. It rotated whenever anything heavy was on it.

I know I posted this a bunch of times.. but I can't stop watching it

I love mine too... was the best christmas present!!!
Here is the downside to that feeder. Mine hang in a spot that needs to be shoveled if I need to refill. Its a royal pain to recharge the batteries too.
Onewish,that vid is a riot

one determined squirrel!
wow strong little sucker!!!
Just can't keep the squirrels off my feeder.....the Flipper may be the answer! I haven't put out a suet feeder this winter because the bears are still out foraging.....
The newer modles of the Flipper have an easier battery pak.It just unplugs and can be brought into the house for recharge. These feeders arent inexpensive but they dont need to be filled as often either.
baffles work fine for me to keep the squirrels on the ground where they belong
I have a big standing feeder, no way to keep the squirrels out. Don't know what else to do...grrr...
Cute....I love nuthatches....haven't seen any red-breasted ones here in the last few years.....
I really am going to get a uet feeder next year.I tried to pix the Nuthatch that comes to my feeder but it swings in the wind and the bird was always on the other side of the feeder.
I have heard from several sources that Cajun red pepper works. squirrels hate the stuff and birds can't taste it.
I have mixed it in with the seed and I haven't seen many of their furry faces at the feeder and the birds seem to be about the same amount.
The only problem that I am finding it that the seed and pepper mixer seems to stick together when it gets wet.
Chuck
I had heard the same thing. I use Cayenne to sprinkle on the ground where I have freshly planted stuff. They dont dig up plants or bulbs.
I must have Mexican squirrels then cause they were LOVING the pepper birdseed
JEN
God give me strength, my side hurts sooo bad from laughing.
I do remember watching a program about Mexican gangs that were smuggling squirrels over the border for shipment to NJ.
