LOL
yeah thanks Chuck, that had to be from 2007 not 2001, that's me thinking REALLY hard where I'm putting those plants
WHO'S AT YOUR BIRD FEEDERS
love those photos
2007 ? 2001, Is Nixon still President? Some day we'll go to the moon, can I go to my room and lay down?
looks of bird activety out there today in this snow - huge flock of golden finches, morning doves, nutcatchers, a few different woodies including a flicker - need a telephoto lens!
I have the usual small birds feeding right now in the snow....juncos and titmice, mostly....
I saw a rosy finch today also Red Bellied Woodpecker and a Flicker, not to mention Slate colored Juncos and tons of Cardinals and Chickadees.
Its a great pastime just me and my birdbook.
Ronnie, siskins have yellow underneath their tails, and a yellow bar on their wings...think you have a song sparrow..
Not many deer here....this is the first real snow, so they've been in the woods eating I guess.....
really nice pics ronnie!
Wonderful pics everyone.
Ronnie, thats an awesome shot of WOODY!!
Thanks!
Once again you have to take my word for it.
I have a Wren. Its rust-brown with the tail upright. My birdbook says its a Carolina Wren ,the one I saw yesterday had white bars on the head. Can this be true?
I know our winter is milder than years past.
Its the second time I have seen one , the last one was November and I just figured it hadnt migrated yet.
I have them in my yard all year. According to the Cornell website they are staying further North in recent years.
Great pictures! I'm hoping this year that the birds (especially the MALE CARDINALS) do not fly into the windows surrounding the enclosed part of the deck. I've stuck sun catchers on them and I hope it helps.
Thanks ronnie we cross posted LOL
Roses, a male cardinal who claimed my yard as his wnet crazy for abot two weeks one summer until I moved a large mirror I had thought to use to enhance the illusion of space in my outside garden. Seems Mr Red grew fiercer and fiercer as his frustration in not being able to even phase let alone drive off his rival! At some point in the day what with the lowered angle of the winter sun and all, I would imagine that your windows become like mirrors reflecting back the sunlight and maybe repositioning your feeders just a bit can minimize the "rival" response. Good luck.

Carolina Wren at our feeder on 12/05/2010. We never saw more than one all summer and through the winter Next photo was taken on 01/21/2011. Very difficult to get a shot, they are very shy and make quick visits too the feeders so if you are not there with camera in hand and focused you are out of luck. We saw one around during the spring and summer of 2011 but have not seen one so far this winter.
Great day for taking bird photos lots of activity at the feeders. Counted 16 Mourning Doves at one time.
John.
opps wrong photo, next two will be ok. This one was also taken 01/21/2011

I have the House Wrens but they come in spring and drive out the chickadees so they can take over bird houses.
Thanks for support JWLW.I just tink even if I had my camera I wouldnt have gotten the shot.
I have had Carolina wrens on & off for the past 10 or so years...this is an off year..have not seen a one...they sing 'Teakettle, teakettle"
O M G I have heard it.
They are so cute!

Bill my FIL use to shoot them an put them in his spaghetti sauce...ewww
We have a pair that have been hanging around, not sure if they are the ones from last year or not. My GDs call them Eddie and Emily! And no they won't end up on our dinner table...
Now I know why I don't eat Cornish hens! Saw the most bizarre thing today....just past our town's center is a small factory....a car was parked in the drive with 3 turkeys standing on the roof, a 4th one next to the car....drove like a maniac home, grabbed my camera....birds & car both gone :>(
