WHO'S AT YOUR BIRD FEEDERS
If it was poking into the ground, it was a flicker....I've noticed quite a few in the last month.....they have a white butt patch when they fly....

I thought of a flicker too but wondered if it was the yellow belly since they can resemble the downies.
I will have to check them out. Thanks
Stinkin' grackles!!!!
No grackles, cowbirds or redwings this year at the feeder.....
I haven't seen any cowbirds yet but they will show up I'm sure.
The goldfinch are back in there pretty yellow suites and we have a pair of doves nesting in a pot. I'll have to get out there with the camera.
Tree swallows were back at the dam today.....
I haven't seen any goldfinches here.....used to have many....
Not here yet either...I have purple finches here year round
You have such a great variety, John...I have stopped feeding because of bear activity....
This is the time of year indigo buntings & rose-breasted grosbeaks come to the feeders.....maybe I will put more seed into the feeder!
oh nice!!
Any idea when we can expect hummers in N.H.?
Any time now, The strange weather may bring them in a little early this year.
maps say they are there... but I always think that map lies.. had my feeder out for weeks.. no sign of one yet

Cuties!

Thanks, it's fun to watch them, he is so sweet and attentive.
My art teacher has a large feeder in front of the studio's window....she was demonstrating for us yesterday, when a gorgeous male rose-breasted grosbeak came to the feeder....stayed right on it while she spoke to us.....
They are lovely birds...don't know how folks could eat them!
think I might have spotted an oriel yesterday.. stuck a couple of oranges outside.. hopefully the bear isn't near
;)
Heard one yesterday, so they are migrating up....
oh yeah.. I saw an oriel couple looking around my deck and pots from last year for nesting material!!!.. going to put more oranges out!!!
Judy here from the MidAtlantic forum. Yep, we are sending those birds up your way and many have stopped to stay with us.
On our forum several of us have been having difficulties with "lost posts" and single and multiple pictures not uploading as expected and getting worse in last several weeks and at certain times of day.
Here is a thread that Greenthumb stsrted to get admin attention as we feel it is a system wide rather than an individual problem. Please take the time to post any concerns or experiences you'd like. Thanks

Below is a picture of a shiny cowbird that just returned two weeks ago after first appearing last spring. Range expanding up from Caribean.
Wow....I've never seen one before ...very pretty....
Love the looks of the cowbird!
A redtailed hawk has taken residence in our ash tree, so no birds to speak of. Yesterday we watched a pair of blue jays dive bombing at him, then he flew toward us and swooped down within 20 feet. No camera at the ready though.
