Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
How about some monkey bread for your sweet tooth?
Dianne, so funny that Warren found the kisses you hid!

Update of Faye and hubby...

Hello dear friends Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. Ray did have the surgery Friday afternoon against the better judgment of the...can't spell him..the guy that put him to sleep & kept him sleep for surgery. Ray was told just before surgery that the fear was that he would wake up in ICU because of the congestive heart failure. Praise God, that didn't happen and I pray it won't. Ray is coughing worse and it's said that's coming from the heart trouble. Susan I'm sorry for the text instead of a call, it has been so hard for me to talk to anyone without crying. I love you lady and do thank you for handling the news for me. I do hope you and Mandy can come. I would love it and I know Ray would.
Thank you Mandy for the call, and do keep on calling and come.
I' tired and I'm happy that the surgery is over. Have to feed my boys now, finish laundry, shower then to bed so I can be @ hospital early in the morning.
Love & hugs
Faye

Huge hugs for Ray and Faye. Sending positive thoughts and energy their way.

Betty I just knew you would want to share that snow with Thea and I. But..... it sure didn't stop here.... just a nasty, nasty bowing snoy day and evening yesterday.

Thea how did you make out with the storm> It was 13 years to the day of the major ice storm that hit us in 1998. Those of us that have been through it will never forget.Thea did you live where you are now in 98? That's why when we built this house I had the generator panel put in downstairs. DH laughs at me but every time there is a wicked storm coming or there is lots of thunder and ightening I fill the bath tub with water.

Need coffe. Gee just 1 night of 4 straight hours of sleep and I was back to the usual last night. *Sigh* One would think I gad something worrying me......

Morning all, brrrr it's a cold one -2 F, even the furries do not want to set foot outside.the way it was snowing and blowing I thought when I got up today I'd have oodles of snow, but not..just the frigid weather. Had planned on going into town, need thread (should take cost out of kittie allowance) as I finished the afghan for Marg thought I'd drop it off...pinned and matched a design for a rag quilt, if I could find flannel anywhere in midland I would purchase a few more meters and add another 2 rows for length then I look outside see the old frost coming from the ground and think maybe staying in Jammie's might be a better idea. But, cant play if I've no thread! Lol

Dianne, I remember that awful storm, bet a lot of people went out and purchased generators..know mike and Darlene had a system out in, when hydro goes out it comes on..blessing for wood stoves. Just looking around and I'd be without head..might be worth looking for a generator when on sale just in case.

Sorry to hear about your not sleeping Dianne, makes for a long night..

LindaKay be sure to let Faye/Ray know we are praying..sometimes you just have to play the odds, good choice about going for the operation. Let's hope as the days pass his health improves. Thanks for the monkey bread, you are up early baking..are you are the no sleep boogie man list?

Mary, coughing up my coffee as I read your post about the witchy poo showing you her pearly whites while wearing a smile..perhaps the higher up had a talk with her.

Susan, They cannot let you go because someone on staff doesn't like you??? I'd be reporting them for sure, would be a class action case for sure...Lordy you two can't get a break can you..seems you just start getting on your feet and something pulls you down, sending armwraps for both of you.what a thing to do to someone, how very cruel some can be.

Laura, now that you have eliminated heart problems, thank the Lord, something major must be going on somewhere to be increasing his anxiety levels. Now comes trying to pinpoint the cause..hard watching your son hurt so much.

Bev, what is happening in your neck of the woods..have you been looking at pretty daylillies and doing online ordering?

Guess I'd best get dressed and make the trip to town..know I have to get supplies for the furries so do it now and can stay in for the weekend!

Good morning, just a slight drop of snow last night here...but sure is cold.

Popping in for a quick good morning, then off and running with DH. This "college" business is getting tiring already!

I do not know Faye & Ray, but sure do send my thoughts and prayers....

Everyone have a great day, travel safe if you have too......feel better, I have already ordered a round of chicken soup and tea for everyone. It is mandatory today! lol

Be back this afternoon if I am not stuck in a snowbank (DH is driving).

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My back was killing me yesterday, so I took a pain pill ans was in bed by 9 last night, just could not sleep, so I got up!

Got a message that Ray is up walking, no oxygen needed, and pay be going home soon! Praise God for answered prayers!

Glenview, IL

Good morning...

Thank you for comments on my dance and fall...I did rest as much as possible and Today I am just a tiny bit stiff.

Betty, I like the designs in the Quilters Cashe...good for ideas. It's been good and most aggravating at the same time, but I have learned a lot from working the blocks there. My rendition of B is Butterfly turned out rather good!! It's the first block of the Quilt, lol I'm on a roll!! I'm working from the Center out.

Barb, so smiling, used the tips and techniques you showed me. LOL especially Happy when remembering how to use the The square ruler! AND, OMG USED the quarter inch ruler not only for cutting but when creating the pattern pieces!! and Whalla, my block actually turned out to the 8 inches it's supposed to be!! However I still am not doing paper piecing the way it suppose to be done...Hahaha, my way takes longer, but it works for me.

OHHH, and not only that...DH brought this 20x27 slab of granite, plopped it on my craft table!! It's way to heavy for me to lift and move so i turned it into an ironing surface. Wowie, what a difference from even using a hard wooden surface....LOL can't get any harder surface then stone, hehehe, just giddy with delight.

Today i am working on a disappearing 9 patch border that Liz explained to me, lol just praying I have enough material to use for the 3.5 squares...

Linda Kay, I found that website for Stained glass blocks!! I like several, Have you decided which one you will do for the Contest?? LOL, read that on Facebook??
There is one I'm going to put in this quilt, called Unconditional Love, Think I'll do 2 of those blocks and Good luck, Hope you win!!

It snowed this morning again, but nothing like the other day...

Mary, Ha Maybe Witchy poo is seeing the light having "to do" the other girls jobs! ROFLOL, sorry she scared you with that smile!! What a shock that must have been.

Debbie, sure hope you get your running done with out any mishap, especially in a snow ditch!

Betty, so glad you enjoyed your day of work at home!! Sounds like you got a lot done...

Dianne, so glad you got some good sleep in the last couple of days! One would think we have a generator, but not... We are armed with Camping Gear for when electric goes out. One time, A storm blew the electric for Hours. We were all out doing cleanup. I offered a much needed cup of coffee to our neighbor. LOLOL, his eyes lit up wanting to know how I made coffee. Said nothing like good old fashion perkelating Coffee pot!! (haha, can't even spell that right!!)

Oh Laura, Thanks Be Lil Man does not have a heart condition, must be a great relief to wipe that off the list. OMG, Acid reflux, Sooo young, must have scared him like crazy...Lets just pray it's a cause from food, very easy to repair that.

OH Man Susan, so sorry to hear Bob lost that job!! Keeping fingers crossed your news turns into reality for you!

So glad the Surgery went well for Ray!!

Well, my work from home catalog papers came in yesterday...It's a bunch of Flyers and advertising the "work from home" as part of the deal, yikes!
But also a catalog website...Which I will take a good look at today.

OK...Better get moving.
Enjoy the day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am going to this block for the contest. And I think because it has to be a 40 inch wall hanginf, I will try to make it bigger, then a half square triangle border around the edge.

Oh and that is going to be soo Pretty!! What colors are considering? LOL, that was also one I liked...

OH what fun this disappearing 9 patch is, like making a puzzle.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Notice drive into town, got to tell you I should win a ribbon for hitting the most stores in least amount of time..was on a mission, did it and home I am with all supplies and groceries I will need for the weekend..no more outs for me, was biting nails though that I didn't run out of gas. Lol. Never do such a stupid thing, mind must have been somewhere else.

Picked up a bag while shopping, put the afghan in it, signed the card Merry Christmas and headed to marg's to drop it off..she had the flu since before Christmas, almost back to herself, passed it on to her son, now has it again..when I got to her apartment I rang the bell, she said she did not want me to get it, so I left it in the foyer, waited in my car till she came down in her housecoat, waved and left!

Started to post, Darlene called and we gabbed for an hour..she said she needed someone sane to gab to, told her she had best find someone else. Lol. Had nice talk..for a lady who doesn't like gabbing on the phone I find I put in 2hrs every day with her..I'm becoming a chatty Cathy.

Told her in a few weeks if she would like weather permitting taking a ride to buffalo, spend a night might do her good. We will see..

Judy, can you share your squares? Is the block 12. 1/2 with finish 12""

LindaKay hoping Ray doesn't rush trying to come home

Ooohhh Sailor wants in. Be back on a break

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy going to try and post link for the easiest disappearing nine block, must go in search of it..it's done in the same easy method of doing simple strips and it giving you sections to make variety of blocks,,

LindaKay, gorgeous..making me want to go through my quilting books for stained glass book but nope even though I'm loving your block just need to finish what I have

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

These are the colors I have to use, and I can add up to 4 more colors if I want!

Riley is having about the same kind of day..

I'm on MSN with Sharon, as I wait for her reply I sew a strip of the rag quilt..have 3 strips done..lol.. if we keep gabbing the strips will be done in no time..know once that happens I'll just HAVE to sew the rows..

Hi all

so glad Ray's surgery went well!
Betty - Bob had only been there one month, so they can let you go for Any reason during probation. Her boss liked Bob, which is why he insisted Bob get a Christmas pressie of the gift cert. Ah well, I told Bob he should contact the Industry temp company - they can keep him employed, I'm sure, and it's possible to get a perm job through them, same as for any temp position.he doesn't get a perm job, they can likely keep him busy as a temp in some blue collar work!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, might be nice working at different places, meeting new people..a paycheck is a paycheck. Sure made my blood boil!!! Enough hard times let alone this to happen. Maybe she should get a job with Mary's boss and see the claws come out and see who wins.

Snowmobiles sure are busy today...hooe my gang aren't up on the islands..hasn't been that cold out..I'm turning into an old worrywart.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LOL Betty - you sure made me laugh! Nicole, working with Mary's boss? LOL LOL
s'funny to think about it. btw - all through the time he worked there, apparently no one liked Nicole - she's a real bossy person who is always making "to do" lists, and gets extremely anal in them (like - Make coffee - 1. take coffee container out of the cupboard 2. open container 3. open coffee maker 4. get filters from cupboard and open the bag 5. put a filter in the coffee maker - make sure you only use one) you know what I mean.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes, I'd be telling her where to out her list and wouldn't be shy about doing so!

Baked potato, 2 wieners and cream corn for lunch..just realized I had skipped lunch and am trying to be so good about proper timing.

Barb, is it tomorrow night you go into the hospital with surgery Minday? Will Norm be able to post so we know you areok..not sure you can use your iPad in your room..you know we will be fretting..knowing you, you've arranged meals for Norm, making sure they are all nutritious...let him know I had a timmies and dutchie this morning just for him..tasted sooo yummy!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh Betty - you Must eat on a schedule and have all three meals! Some say it's better to eat 5 to 6 small meals per day........ even if it's only an orange for a break time...... ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm doing much better Susan, even feel myself getting stronger..actually Darlene said when I was at the hospital the night Mike was admitted, several in attendance asked if I was okay, if I shouldn't also be admitted?? But here I am new year, new rules trying to get healthy again..healthy means staying plump though lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

lol Betty!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love those fabrics Betty, is it all done yet?
Yes, I have to submit the wall hanging, and once judging is done, they will all be returned. The winner gets $500.00! The hardest part for me will be doing the top stitching, but since it is only 40 inches, it should not be that hard!
Susan, sure hope Bob hears soon on a job.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow - LK - will sure be hoping YOU get the $500!
I love the block you're doing - it's a pinwheel, isn't it? such rich colours for the center, and a beautiful sunny "surround" (can't think of the outside edging name - know it has a specific name............. lol )

Baton Rouge, LA

LOL @ Betty & Susan... Bob's Boss & Witchypoo.... what a pair !

Yikes everyone.... someone was just murdered right at the corner of FIL/MIL's house. This is the house Hubs was raised in... they've been there forever..

Wish they could move but doubt we could talk them into it....My TV station was out there and spoke with MIL....

Break time

LindaKay, could be done, all the rows are sewn, 9 sewn together and all it needs is washing...

But I'm on a roll, got my Christmas blocks out, been working on them, I'm on row 5 - 6 blocks across before I do the edgings which will give it about10" each side..this being so means from both years of Xmas blocks I'm still short! Drats..but then that new technique should be just enough to make a king size quilt for Suzanne.

Keep looking at it and trying to decide seeing as I'm early enough in the year if I'll do the method row by row I did with the appliqué ones or do the entire top and send it out for quilting?? Will be a beaut for sure. Must go to fabricland on Monday though as I'm not so sure the material I bought boxing day will be enough to finish top side..

Don't you get excited though when all goes well?

Would be nice to win the $500 for sure LindaKay..would buy a lot of fabric wouldn't it?

Cannot believe its going on 6 pm

Before I call it a project day think I'll try and do 2 more row of Christmas quilt while on a roll lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh Mary, if someone is on the run hope your in-laws leave the area until he is found.
You know, regardless of what area, upper class as they would call it there are still murders..guess we should be cautious but doubt moving would help to be guarded from such happenings.

Baton Rouge, LA

You're right Betty - there is a really nice neighborhood close by and a murder there just a few years ago... the house is Huge...

MIL said there were many police cars there and my BIL lives around the corner so I suppose they are safe....

But I still worry.

I'm so impressed by you all getting so much done today ! Can't say I've accomplished a lot... Our monthly Hibiscus club meeting was today and the topic was Root Rot... think I've lost 2 of my hibbies from that... the third one not looking so good so might take it out of the pot tomorrow and treat it as a chance to learn. Sad because they were the 3 original cuttings I took back in June....

I am home!! We were both a bit tired, and Sailor was expecting visit from some of his friends so we left a bit earlier than we had originally thought we would....was a VERY good visit....Loved having instructors tell me they enjoyed teaching my boy!!! this picture is my Petty Officer !! yup graduation means rank up!! my guy on the right as you look at photo, his best friend on other side, and closest to my son is one of the base commanders. other guy is one of the instructors.

See the pretty new stripes, and bird??!! called "the crow" on his shirt !! Malena was very good for the ceremony, though she did call out to Kyle a few times !! afterwards Kyle said he loved hearing her!!! She was soooo cute when we first met up with him...she let out this crazy scream!!! and grabbed me and said " oh my goodness Mor Mor!!! It's Kyle !! I just can't believe it!! It is really Kyle!!" now you got to understand she has such an cute accent when she says some things, and she sounds like a little southern belle , Kyle come out sounding more like cow !!!! cooowwwl stretched out long....to cute!!

this is Presents table runner I made. I had planned on making something else, and had ordered fabric, only to be told "out of inventory" I went on to plan "b", and concluded that was not going to work out either.....and then I saw a variation of this runner on a blog!!! and that "light bulb" went off!!! I thought this would be a perfect "present" !!! ( well I hoped) funny how some things just fall into place when we least expect it.....

I like this design sew much that I have one started as a gift for hubby.....

OH My goodness, signing in to FOUR handsome men in uniforms....my weakness! And yes, my DH knows it full well. lol Thunder, so happy for you all, what a great trip!

Just back from an "all day run" again with DH! I was shocked as he is not a shopper. Long story short, he accidentally threw out my winter jacket...which was a Columbia DD gave me last year for Christmas. Anyway, I have other coats, just not heavy warm. SO he made it his mission today to find one. After HOURS (I am not exaggerating 11:00 til 4:00) hitting every store/mall.......lunch at CRACKER BARREL and back to a different JCPennys we hit pay dirt. RIght size, right color....and marked from $225 down to $68. Also, some odds and ends errands taken care of.

Went driving and looked at a few houses for sale, and just relaxed and talked. I think we needed that. Back home about 6:00....and now we are tired out!

Love those quilt patterns LindaKay....and cant wait to see the others Judy & Barb have been talking about. I am STILL mulling that over!
Might want to try sooner than later.

Bev, where are you? Haven't heard from you since New Years. Did the amarylis bloom? I hope it was a pretty one.

Need some tea....pot is whistling.....bbl

Adult coloring books!! and of course had to have new crayons :)

Dianne mentioned getting one of those black velvet posters to color, and how she was enjoying it, and I thought of books similar to these that I have. I have had some of them for quite a while, and I wondered if any were still available??!! After a short search I found some!!

Thumbnail by barefootT

Coloring is one of the most relaxing things for me also....I have one that I keep rolled up down here, and late at night I sit at the table and work on it. Mine is all animals top to bottom with the black velvet.

Thunder, ya did good!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

group shot....

as I was going through my Christmas boxes, pulling things out to decorate with I came upon a box full of wooden Items.
I used to make wood stuff and sell at craft shows and home parties..............
anyway, I saw this Cowboy Santa, and it made me think of Dianne and Santa W. I have so many different pieces, that I could never use them all, and felt he could be better used, by some one else, And I just "felt" he would be the right kind of item for them both....and had to also send the other Santas.

M & M's are a Christmas tradition at our house, and I heard that "our special Santa W." likes chocolate....

yup...Men In Uniform big sigh....... and there was a room full of them !!!

we went bowling, one of my Sailors favorite things to do, the place was full of both guys and gals in uniforms !! both the blue camo work uniforms, and the dress blues !!! sure was a sight to behold !!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Linda Kay I love the fabrics. Those batiks are beautiful and will look wonderful with that stain glass patten. Can't wait to see the finished wall hanging.
