Hello To All !
Checking in early today ! Yes I'm suppose to be at work...but we have a HUGE Football game going on and it's dead out there in the city... half the folks are in New Orleans and half are at home getting ready to watch the game.
We'll probably be told we can leave early today... Geaux Tigers !
Dianne - I did not know you were raised in England ! Everyone has their clean up projects going on... I need to do the same... Judy - send me some of your energy !
I'll pop back in a bit
((hug))
Mary
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends
LOL...I wish our City would shutdown when Bears and Packers go at it!!
Well you have fun watching the game, I'll route for your Tiger's.
Mary, big Happy Smile...Rosie delivered Seedfolks today! I've already read it and enjoyed it very much!!
OK, so what I found out is my sewing machine is from 1938!! There's a photo of these old machines that show where to put the oil so tomorrow will go get that.
We just got back from Dentist...Another 600 and we still have to get a filling or a crown another 750 for the crown!! This kid BETTER take good care of his teeth, this is killing us...
How was your day?
THanks Judy ! We need all the Fans we can get :o) If LSU wins it will affect Hubby, my job, the whole city.... amazing what a game can do...
Wow - You Got the book and READ it all today ! Did it kind of remind you of Betty's blog ? and then the little girl is Betty (((HUGS))) for starting it all....
I think you ought to check Ebay the machine might be worth some Big bucks....especially still working....
OMG... the GAME... Can't watch.....
Sounds like they are not doing too well?
Oh Mary I wasn't born and raised in England..... I lived near London Ontario. Several villages, towns and cities were named after the corresponding English equivalents.Few were Welsh names though and my mam was always put out about that. Mam emigrated to Canada from Wales as a child. Her DF was a coal miner and the family was placed on a farm and expected to run it. Not an easy time of it for them! When they arrived in Canada via a long, wicked sea voyage mam's first language was Welsh. She and her sibs got teased quite badly at school.
Great find Judy. And if ever gives up the ghost which I doubt you could turn it into an arrangement of dried flowers and such. We have an ancient typewriter that I bought. An artisan had arranged dried flowers, feathers, an old set of glasses and their case plus a page out of a very old book on it. Very striking!
A friend came today and the head of the bed is now raised 8 inches to help with DH's breathing. I feel like the princess and the pea! I neeed a step stool to get up into the bed.So far so good tonight, I haven't had to rearrange pillows because W was having problems breathing.
Storm is here for his last call so best let him out!
Dianne

Where is everyone? Hope everyone is well and just busy. I see my fingers do not want to co-operate.... my typing errors are many.
Coffee is ready - VAnHoutte's Kick A**. Thea and Betty you can get this - usually at Loblaws or Foodland. Don't know about you Susan being from the west and all.
Did you come out of hiding Mary? I understand that the score was not what you wanted it to be - or at least the last score I read.
Sitting on hold waiting for the CC. Yesterday I sat on hold twice both times over 15 min. Grrrrr
Dianne
Good morning, where is everyone for sure? Did they move us to a new thread and loose a link?
Dianne, so sure you are able to get Warren comfy. That is a hard thing to do.
I am dragging, too much running yesterday....the rest of the week will be the same, so laying low today.
Coffee is calling me....
Debbie
Morning...omg tell me it aint so? lol turned off my alarm, went back to sleep and never got up until 6:45..had washed my hair last night so had to use curling iron..rushed out like a bante only to see in the mirror at Walmart when I went for pancakes that I didn't even comb it..used my fingers as a comb and here I am at work..
I so hope Dianne that raising the bed will help Warren rest better..lordy, you sure do have a lot on your plate!!
Dianne, at Markham craft show I've seen antiques done with florals and they are soooo adorable..how is Storm doing..
Are you loving this weather? mild temps again today...grrrrr $500 to plowman this month for his season of plowing, to date there was no need..he did come twice but needn't have. Almost seems a waste but winter is not over is it
YIKES big time Judy, that is a lot of money..not sure how you all do with such high Doctor and Dentist bills..shaking my head..thank God for dentures..
Debbie, are you running the roads?
Lindakay, and what praytell are you doing to fill in your day?
Bev, how is it going? Any news of when the wedding will be...surely will be a good day for you.
Thinking tomorrow of going to the Garden Gallery for a walk and see what lovelies they have..starting to get spring fever..think I'll have it for awhile now won't I
Mary, did I hear right, did the 'tie' the game and if so what kind of impact does that have on you and the area? thought when they played it could not be a tie???? might have misunderstood the score.
Just got back from voting in the NH presidentisal primary. Can't bi-ch if I don't vote!!!
Busy making blocks for the other room swap. Go to surgeon tomorrow to see where we go from here. Off again for my friend Elaine's b'day. It was yesterday but she ended up with a visit from her daughter so we put off till today. She is still very ill so I try to lend suppport when I can.
Have a nice day today ladies ~~~~~~waving to all.
Waving Debbie, we cross posted..did you have to make all the appts for this week?? could you not have done bit this week/bit next week and relax hmmmm?
You now have wheels right?
Give Elaine a hug for me Barb..how tragic, especially the eyesight being affected when she so loves sewing..can't imagine! Yes, was learning that you are the first to vote in New Hampshire, often just after midnight..I so thought of you this morning, was going through the channels while travelling to work and hit a New Hampshire station so sat and listened. Good luck tomorrow, hope you'll not have to wait too long for news re health...how is my Norm doing???
ugggg, not sure but this morning while sitting having my coffee I thought I could smell 'pee' .. maybe it's just my imagination after the thread incident..whatever could cause one of the furries to start this??
I'll check further tonight..
Ohhh bingo night, let me win please
want a new kitchen/dinning room set
Betty, It didn't happen on purpose. Two appts. are my PT which I have to have (M & Weds). Had a derm appt. yesterday and had a lesion removed on face (OUCH) and while there set up one for Shane. Nurse said "OH We just had a cancellation...can I put him in for Thursday?" YES!!! Need him there before off to college...so it was a good thing. AND Thursday or Friday afternoon...have to take Izzy back to the vet to have her ears checked...Shane will be with me.
"The child" has a doctors appt. at 11:00 and I am trying to NOT go. She just wants me to pay for it (which I will) but that "tough love" thing needs to hold up....she won't do what the doctor says so why bother? Whole cabinet of prescriptions she gets...then won't take. Going to be a confrontation...I know it.
BUT...Betty, I am resting whenever possible. I have "wheels" and when I do go...>Shane now has his license so I let him drive quite a bit.
Halo on for good behavior (It won't last).
Debbie
lol, wow that is quite a week Debbie, glad you are resting when you can!
think I asked before, how does Paul like the company now that it's changed hands..
Meant to say over the holidays there was a talk show on the radio re Kodak..history from beginning to now, really amazing..guess they shortly will go into receivership, are hoping that some of the patents they might sell might keep them afloat for a bit..guess we think technology is wonderful but it does put a lot of people out of jobs..been decade at least since I brought film in for developing.
Just talking to Darlene, as with towns there are cliques and in groups the same exists..she was so upset, apparently Lydia wasn't told of Mike's passing...shaking my head..Barb, she's the healing lady who makes meds...think you spoke wih her..this upset Darlene a lot .. said she wrote out a few cards, even wrote Mike a few letters, says it's her way of healing..
Tomorrow she has a full day, Mike's work/Financial Advisor/getting internet up and running now that it has been cancelled by Mike's work.. heard a bit of gossip this week, apparently the firm was up for sale..think someone bought it, not official yet BUT likely will be announced shortly.
Betty, Paul seems happy with the change. He is very nonchalant about everything and uses the phrase "it is what it is" a bit too much.
He took it very personal that they "sold him" after 30 years of dedication. He doesn't look at it as a business issue..it is personal. And now that Kodak may be filing bankruptcy soon he is happy to be out of there. After 30 years service, and he had Kodak stock.....turned it in and we got a "whopping" $19.87 cents payout! Yep, I kid you not. Barely enough to buy a family pizza! The new company is still setting up all the new routines and getting their ducks in a row. BUT over all have just been awesome to us.
Alright, I did it....I sent "the child" to the doctor by herself. NOW you watch, something will be wrong....and I will have massive mommy guilt laid on me. Told her "Your 21, you want to be an adult....well, you better start listening to the doctors. WHOLE cabinest full of meds you wouldn't take...I am not dealing with this unless you stand up and listen." Then the fact she is VERY allergic to cig smoke....and spends weekend at boyfriends house....his parents smoke worse than chimneys. She comes home and has to go up and shower immediately so I don't get sick. Grrrr!
Not quite sure what you mean by 'sold' him Debbie..does that refer to his not getting a package and just got put on new company's payroll??? yikes, $19.87, shaking my head..how sad is that!
Good girl, yes she's at an age that mommy needn't be attending all the doctors' appointments so head up, you've done the right thing. Much like mom, she had breathing problems yet has a grandson living with her with one..complains/complains about coughing and breathing..no sympathy here..the child should really pay more attention to her health and meds taken..I'll say like you, she's her worse enemy!
Hey Dianne - one thing we "out west" have, is powerful stuff - meat, coffee, vehicles (people...... lol) ......... so YES, we have Kick A** coffee LOL
I still didn't find it in our stores...Dianne, what chain of grocery store do you find it in?
We have it in Safeway........
I'm thankful I didn't have an accident on the way to work.........
We haven't had much snow this year, but it dumped "Big Time" this morning, and I did a "180" on the "off-ramp" from one major road to another. Suddenly I was facing the car behind me! I managed to back up and turn myself around, and the person behind/in front of me waited until I was facing the right way before coming too close!
I overshot my next turn off, and got a little past where I needed to turn, but got myself to work safely and with minutes to spare before I started work. I'd left extra early because of the snow and slippery conditions I'd heard about on the radio.
Thank you, Lord!!
OMG Susan, Lord was in drivers' seat with you for sure!
You are sooo lucky.
Please, don't send the snow our way..such a pleasure to get up in the morning not worrying about taking the roads.
No Safeways here
Betty, he is "retired" from Kodak now. Everything rolled over to personal accounts. By sold I mean...the new company took on all the employees that were in those departments. SO, they went with the ownership of the building. Same pay but different benefits. I "think" they are guaranteed a job for a year....then it is up to the new company. BUT not sure on those specifics.
Yes, the Lord was with me, for sure! One fellow behind me was likely following too closely so he whipped up on my right side to pass me......... but the next one stayed put! Good thing the off-ramp was a 2-lane at that point.....because my car was side-to-side then, before it went the rest of the way and ended up backwards...........
Debbie - praying for you and your DH, for sure!!
Betty - Kicking Horse, Kick A** coffee here:
http://kickinghorsecoffee.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=75
Goodness, your all so busy today!
Not doing much but trying to clean this house! The dust here is so bad, I can dust one day, and not even tell the next! Got some laundry done.
Susan, so glad to hear you are OK after spinning out like that! Geesh, that must have been scary? Think I would have had to go back home, and change clothes! LOL!
Barb, have a good visit with Elaine. Tell her we all said Happy Birthday!
LOL I almost had to!! I was only 3 blocks from home, so could have walked, if I could have crossed the busy highway!
Well Debbie, as each year goes by Paul is closer to retirement .. we never know what the future will bring so guess looking at today is the best we can do..I tell the Lord my plans and sometimes he laughs and tells me HIS..
Am sure Susan that work would have understood you getting to work late! No sense rushing and getting into an accident..thanks for the link!
LindaKay, is the dust due to hot dry weather? My problem is the dogs/kitties..they seem to stir up dust from rug and flooring. Now you must do something more fun than house cleaning.
My thoughts for the weekend is to go through all my stained glass equipment, supplies and see what is needed, what kind of glass is needed and put away the sewing machine after the Christmas quilt is done and get a few lamps done and set aside..so much glass and little projects laying around that I would like to clean up by using them...
then a dresser a day lol
I'm a pretty neat/clean person, don't know how I let the closets and drawers become such an issue..my sister if you were to look in her drawers (clothing) has everything placed in rows, undies rolled and in color etc...me, if I open the drawer and it fits there it stays.
hahahahaha I'm with you, Betty - no folding undies and putting them in rows!
I Do like to hang my clothes in colour-matching, though........ and sometimes my regular clothes drawers are the same. If I have 4 sweaters stacked, it's easier to find the colour you want when they're all of the same colour stack........
Hi...I've been having a do a little bit this, watch tv, do a little of that watch more tv! LOL.
Cleaned my car, It's gorgeous outside, upper 50's! Going to enjoy it while it's here. Expecting snow in couple of days.
Oh Susan, What a scare!! so glad you got through it as safe as possible.
LOLOL, Betty "me, if I open the drawer and it fits there it stays." Same here!! I am to the point of stacking DH stuff on top of dressers too!
Mary, so sorry your team didn't do well...Yes, Seedfolks Does remind me of Betty and this little community! I had to laugh when the book came, I thought it was a long read, instead finished in 2hours! Julia noticed it on my craft table...she pointed at it and said that's a good book!!
Also today, I am thinking about the Baby quilt for Brittany...She gave me some of Brian's favorite shirts so i need to get them cut and see what I have to work with.
She asked if i could put some pictures on it so practiced printing on fabric...How Cool!! Want to see how much the pretreated fabric is.
Got to run an errand, hope you are enjoying the day!
Off to Michaels with a 50% off coupon Judy..they have pkgs...think 10 sheets in a package! It would be wonderful for the baby to have such a quilt, dad's shirts and photo's...ahhh I'm sure you can do it and IF you are having problems many of us here have done one so could help out!
Evening all,
Laying here resting, giving head a rest as Ann will shortly arrive got bingo. I'd give anything just to head to bed 'not' !
Just talked to Darlene for 1 hour..you have no ideas how difficult it is to gab on the telephone but will try my very best to do so every night..talked this morning as well..I will have to go in search of area gossip to have something to talk about. I'll be known as town gossiper. Lol
Dropped into Elvale Fabric shop on my home, not very friendly place to go..have to go in opposite direction to the Craighurst shop.. Picked up some white on white, in washer must go dry it before Ann gets here.
Betty, it is dusty here, because we live on the edge of a desert. No much for greenery here, even in the summer. Very few nice lawns here, as it just dries up, and too pricey to have sod and keep it watered. So everyone here has bad dust problems. Everyone says, you know your in Texas when you have dust in your light bulbs!
Good luck in the bingo tonight?
siiiiiiiigh - well, here I sit at the office.
Guess I was more distracted by my near-car-accident this morning than I thought - I left the keys in the car and the battery's dead.
Good thing one of the engineers is staying late in a meeting and he has booster cables. It's been 3/4 of an hour and the car won't start yet. Likely to be here for another 3/4 of an hour yet.
Between chatting online and my e-reader, I've got stuff to do, but it's already pitch-dark and I have a church board meeting at 7pm.
Hello To All !
Well yes - unfortunately our team must have been hijacked last night and imposters put in their place. No really Alabama did deserve to win... Baton Rouge was very gloomy today and the weather matches the mood...
I'll try to pop back on in a bit...
((HUGS))
Mary
LindaKay, then I must live in Texas.. Easier just to change them lol
Don't think I'd like the lack of green grass! No bingo winnings..neither Ann and I were too interested..a few games we walked away from the cards..no wonder we didn't win
Susan, sorry to hear about you vehicle not starting..drats..glad coworker is being so helpful, hope by now you are at your meeting
Ahhh hugs to you Mary..I've never watched a football game so I have no clue as if they played badly..did I misunderstand, thought the game was a tie? Guess you sold advertising and if more games in your area more commercials right?
This message was edited Jan 10, 2012 9:20 PM
I don't really understand the game fully either Betty but LSU didn't even score... Somehow when the Team is doing well...and everyone in a good mood... the economy seems to be better...
It's hard to sell to folks who are disappointed in their home town team...
Our Bosses already had "congratulations" messages ready for us to sell... LOL....
Susan - Thank goodness you had an angel with you... that could have been a horrible accident...
Dianne - so funny I thought you meant England... The only place I've visited in Canada was Windsor Ontario... should have guessed that settlers named after their "home".... What would have been some good Welsh names to please Mam?
Well onward & upward. Finally got some medicine that seems to help the cough but it makes me loopy...
Are the Days longer these days ? It sure seems like it...
((HUGS))
Mary
About time you got something for that cough that works! You have had it way too long!
It makes you loopy Mary? Ain't touching that line with a 10 foot poll. I know you missed me O:)
I know LK - everyone is sick of me coughing ! I saw a Pulmonist for the first time....
LOL Deb... okay okay... I am NORMALLY Loopy... but this makes me "Loopier" if that makes sense...
ROFL, yes, it makes perfect sense....as I understand the loopier all to well!
I signed up for PT tomorrow morning, at 9:15...what was I thinking that early...and that cold...in the morning!
Dianne, how did you and Warren do today?
Betty, sounds like me...I have to buy the card to win the lotto ticket...so no use huffing when I didn't win. ROFL
Not much really happening this time of night, tried reading and it didn't work!
Need to change my bandage and get myself to bed before "the child" gets home.
Sweet dreams....get some rest!
Debbie
