Snow Squall Watch
Issued at Sunday, 1 January, 2012 10:34 AM
Snow squalls overnight and Monday. Snow squalls are expected to develop quickly overnight in the Grey - Bruce and Parry Sound - Muskoka regions as much colder air blasts into the regions in the wake of a sharp Arctic cold front. Local snowfall amounts of near 15 cm are quite possible in these snow squalls by Monday morning. In addition strong and gusty westerly winds will cause near zero visibility in blowing snow overnight. Indication right now suggest that the winds will shift to more northwesterly on Monday. As a result, the snow squalls will likely drift southward into the Barrie, Orillia, Midland, London, Stratford and Woodstock areas. Local snowfall amounts could reach 25 cm by Tuesday morning and up to 40 cm are possible if one or more of the snow squalls become stationary for more than 6 hours. The strong and gusty winds will likely cause very low to at times zero visibility in blowing snow in areas affected by heavy flurries and snow squalls. Hazardous winter driving conditions are expected.
Doesn't it sound like fun..now why couldn't it be Tuesday, I could have a snow day.
Ann just dropped in for a few hours visit, old friend of Roger and I called and few others so the afternoon just went..guess if I'm going to get back to sewing I'd best do it!
Sounds like a lot of snow Betty. How much in inches please?
Linda Kay, I think 40 cm is about 15 1/2 inches. It is 2.54 cm. per inch....if my brain is right. It isn't reliable though. lol
Think you are right Debbie..no snow right now, I don't get to alarmed because they don't always tell the truth.
How have you all enjoyed your day? Do anything special?
Betty, I took down my little tree, still have to pack up the ornaments. Took Shane grocery shopping with me to pick up a few things for a small dinner tonight. We are watching Pretty Woman (well DH is) and I am finishing up some paperwork and for some reason chilled to the bone! The wind is horrible out there.
Hi...
Well, We've had some very strong winds today!! Then DH decided to go through some paper work...Asked if I could help him for about an hour...5hours later we are done!! LOL and we even found a box to store the pile of paper we have to keep, He is so excited to be able to see his desk again.
Then I was going to make Indian tacos but my fry bread didn't come out too good sooo regular tacos are it.
LOL, we were going to have them yesterday but Julia felt like ordering so had pizza instead, Hands on the hips sighing here, you should hear them laughing at my cooking skills!! OH well, I tried!
Think the family wants to play a game or something tonight.
OMG, that's a lot of snow!! Were you able to get to some sewing Betty?
Have a nice dinner Debbie.
Debbie much the same here for the chilled to the bones, have downstairs fireplace on, the one in living room and the furnace going, one would think it feels like Florida but not! Lol
Sharon who lives 1 1/2 hrs from here, closer to Toronto says its snowing and blowing, clear here so who knows what the night will bring..
Feels kind of sad putting Christmas away..am glad I decided to do it earlier this week..guess I should have taken outside lights down when it was mild..no matter it can wait till spring!
Love pretty woman, regardless how many times I watch it, I enjoy it as much.
Judy, glad you were able to set aside time today for Steve's paperwork..he can now start 2012 with a clean slate.
Yes, finished the10 block runner, don't like it across end of bed but folded across footboard is ok
Guess I shouldn't do things for sake of things, just doesn't turnout. Over the holidays I bought curtains for picture window (cafe style) put them up and took them down 15 minutes later..now folded I closet .
Want to buy new table and chairs, thought I'd go in search offset this week but think I'd best go look when I'm up to it.
Head is telling me it's beddiebye..all furries inside, must go shut off fireplace downstairs then to bed I go..
Thanks for keeping me company today..
Hi y'all!
Well, happy anniversary LK!!
Betty, your weather is going to be all the waay down south on Tuesday. Our hi is only suppose to be 48. Brrr!! Now how will I ever survive that? It was in the 70's today!
Debbie, I fell in love with Mr. B. ☺ Bonnie's sister is very very sweet. How is Izzy after that bath?
I baked a ham, did our traditional collard greens, black eyed peas, rice, buttermilk cornbread and baked a nutty pie. What does everyone else have for your traditional New Year's menu?
All my Christmas is packed away except for my little clock ... I forgot to come back and tell y'all about it. It's not fancy. It's precious because my sister knew I'd like it. It's a Thomas Kincaid clock that plays a little Christmas tune on the hour. It's light sensitive, so it doesn't do it when the lights are off. I have it on my mantel. Guess I'll take the batteries out before I go to bed tonight. :-(
Suse, think I met Mr.B and Bonnie when Debbie and I did our roadtrip a few years ago..spent a night at their house..what lovely gardens they had. Debbie and I ate just outside of their town, little restaurant and think the food was delicious and dirt cheap!
Your clock sounds so precious..think I've seen Robert Kincaid clocks when I was in a little town (again with Debbie I think) where Casey Jones Train station is, there was a Robert Kincaid store.. and, because your sister gave it to you even more precious! Do chimes bother you..I've a grandfather clock I painted, chimes on the quarter, 1/2 hour and hour..gets that I don't even hear it..my son says it drives him crazy..told him to go to bed in a bedroom rather than the courch and he wouldn't hear it..sometimes he takes the battery out lol
That is cold for you..sorry, don't mean to send it your way..
Furries are fed, hot chocolate on the go time to say goodnight...
THat is beautiful Betty ! Love "The Life of Riley" LOL...
Suse - I have your same weather and I am NOT looking forward to covering up the hibbies tomorrow... in Shorts today ...
What a beautiful clock ! We didn't cook but caught Judy's hubby's cleaning bug and got a few piles done as well as the Christmas tree & decorations.
Yes - Betty -sad to take them down but if they didn't come down Spring would not come, right? Need to look forward to some sunshine and Gardening days !
(HUGS)
Mary
No, chimes don't bother me at all. In fact, they help me keep up with the time ... ☺
Wow, you've met our Debbie? Next time you see her, give her armwraps for me! LOL Isn't it neat to have the priviledge to meet so many wonderful people. I've made some great friends ... Sleep well, and stay warm!!
Off to bed myself. I'm beat tonight.
Suse, I travelled a bit over a week with Debbie, we mey mr.B, Bonnie, then met up with Crissy in Memphis after going to Opryland , headed north and visited with Benpv and Scotty, did a detour to meet up with Liz and Judy...often meet up with Debbie in Buffalo and do breakfast or meet up at craft show...will indeed give her hugs for you next time we meet.
Yes Mary, now we can dream gardens..at least in our minds..lol. Shorts, lucky you!
Laying here, as much as I'm tired thing I wont rest till 11:48 pm passes..Riley is snuggled next to me, gee whiz how can a small kittie take over 3/4 of the bed..almost on the floor!
Hi everyone - hope the beginning of 2012 is good for you, too!
Our company just left (11:15pm) and it was another successful New Year's Day dinner :-)
Ham & Scalloped potatoes, mixed veggies, and for dessert - steamed fruitcake with a brown sugar sauce.
Went over very well.
Now, time to let Bob watch TV while I read from my Reader lol Currently reading "At the back of the North Wind"
Happy Anniversary LK. Hope you had and your DH had a wonderful day together.
Well here we are in 2012, wishing everyone peace, health and happiness for the year.
We had friends over for a New Year's Eve dinner. I think the company did DH good - I am sure he is getting very tired of just seeing my chubby red face. For dinner we had Mushroom Egg Drop Soup, Sweet and Sour Pork, Honey Garlic Spareribs, Chicken Lo Mien and Kitchen Sink Fried Rice. Love making Chinese food especially when I have willing helpers. My hands said a big TY for having extra hands to chop all the veggies.Tried a new Honey Garlic Spareribs recipe and while I didn't like it as much as my original our guests loved it. Guests brought a Mississippi Mud pie for dessert. it looked fabulous and must have tasted that way as DH had 2 pieces. There I sat quite happily eating my half an apple - I think I have become addicted to Honey Crisp apples. I find rather than eating a sweet after dinner that if I have an apple that it stops my feeling and craving for something salty later in the evening. Now that doesn't mean I don't have some dark chocolate before I crash!
Our friends that were here NYE are home from Indonesia for the holidays. They teach at an International School there and while they love all of the perks the job provides ( eg cheap flights to exotic locations) they can hardly wait to get out of Jakarta, They do want to stay somewhere another 2 years overseas but it doesn't matter where. They did not renew their contract in Jakarta and are hoping a job fair in Boston later this month will lead them to the right spot.
Debbie we have your darn winds here ..... feel like I am in Kansas. The freezing rain turned to heavy rain and then the temps dropped drastically. Have no idea if I can get out the lane today but I am sure the kits will be brave and eat an serving of Fancy Feats if their kibble runs out.
I spent a few days this week really fighting to eliminate feelings of anger and hurt . I really needed to get rid of these feelings before midnight New Years Eve. It was a hard struggle but I feel like I have succeeded. Finally about 3 am or so on Dec 31 I decided freezing rain or no freezing rain I was going to have a fire. I so badly needed to rid myself of these negative feelings. So there I was outside having my fire, looking at the sky, listening to the coyotes and this feeling of peacefulness warmed my body. As strange as it sounds I felt the negativity coming out of my body. Judy I also felt your presence there and what a comfort it was to me.I am sure in the days coming I am going to need to do this more often to stay on an even keel so I must not let myself be talked out of a fire.
Sounds like you all had a good New Years. Did you get any sleep Susan or did the eReader win out?
Suse do you have a pic to share of Moses on his BD?
Crissy I sure hope you have kicked your cold right out of your body! Back to work today (mon) or do you have today off because Jan 1 was on a weekend?
Judy I chuckled to myself when I read about you and your DMIL. So ya see Deb you are not alone in this department. I never once in all the years DH and I have been together said 1 word directly to my MIL. I don't call her anything (well I do but it wouldn't pass the censor on DG) out loud. I was the one who came along and took her little boy from her just as she was getting him back all to herself.Yep that's what she told me and to add to that she introduced me to some people as her niece.I just blew then if you can imagine. Her loss as far as I was concerned because she could have had a DIL who was very good to her. The hardest thing I had to do when I left my first DH was to say Good bye to my MIL. I loved her so much. She was more of a mother to me than my own.One of the reasons I stayed as long as I did in my marriage was because of my feelings for MIL.
Betty are you able to call you Doc today or is he still away? You HAVE to do something about those headaches.Take it from me the Headache Queen!!
Finally feel like I can get some sleep so off to bed I trot.
BBL to finish catching up.
Dianne
