ooooooooooooh Betty, yes - take care of the headache - time to have a nap!!
Best, worse, what did I learn today? Chat with friends
May I ask for prayers please for my friend Katie, she went into the hospital this morning for a complete hysterectomy, and was told she had cancer. The Dr. thinks he got all of it, but will know more when test results come back. Don't know if she will have to have chemo or anything yet!
My prayers go out for Katie as she's dealing with this new knowledge, and I pray also that the surgeon got all the cancer.
It must have been detected early, as she didn't go in for cancer symptoms, right?
My DS Ruth went in for a bone density test, and they found cancerous cells in her uterus. She's never "gotten" cancer since - that was 10 years ago.
Having a hard time being 'up' tonight we received some pretty grim news the morning at the CC. The best news of the day was the finally decided not to admit Warren to the hospital for at least the next week. That would have been devasting for the both of us. Warren started emergency radiation today and will have 4 more sessions. They gave him Christmas Day off.We were told quite bluntly that if Warren did not agree to radiation starting today the possibly of him passing this week were very high.
WIll try to get back later. Please send positive thought to my guy!
Dianne
Hello To All ;
LK - many prayers for Katie...
Betty - what wonderful "gifts" you received today... Know they are well deserved... Hope Dianne that appts went well today and you are just back home resting...
Susan... Sounds like everything is falling into place. Love those goats aren't they so cute !
Barb... hope everything is well with you....
yes - Hubs has to help wrap... the teens get 10 gifts each (even if some are $10)...but I always make sure they all have the same # to unwrap and the same #$ spent... tired of years of "its not fair".... I'm not wrapping 30 gifts by myself... as of late I've made hubs wrap most of the girls....
Today I made an Apple Pie... (Thanks Dianne... I'm getting better!)... cookie dough for tomorrow and prepared the meat for fondue tomorrow and sauces. Tomorrow... Peanut Brittle, Dianne's cookbook breakfast casserole recipe and potato recipe...
I'll pop back...we're about to do more wrapping...
(HUGS)
Mary

LindaKay, prayers for Katie..hoping they caught it in time
Susan, hoping you have the best visit ever
Drats, got the flu bug, just took gravel in hopes it helps..just what I didn't need...washroom my best friend right now..minor setback!
Thunder you have no idea how much your links have uplifted my spirits tonight. Sitting here really just sort of frozen not knowing what to do to so I enjoyed your links. Thank you I need something like that tonight.
LK prayers being sent for your friend Katie. Having spent 7 hours in various parts of the CC today with Santa Warren I am truly in awe of the work that goes on there but most of of all by the spirits of all people employed in the CC.Not one person we had to deal with today made us feel rushed and were so careful to make sure we had all of our questions answered and knew exactly what to do. These people I swear are Saints. Praying that your friend Katie is dealing with staff as compassionate as the one we are.
Susan I am so excited for you going home. I can hear the excitement rev up with each post. What a wonderful Christmas present for you!!
Betty I am so sorry you have the flu. Did you get the flu shot? Nothing worse than being ill over Christmas especially when you are such a CHristmas person like we are......... Santa Warren just asked me a couple of hours ago if Santa Santa was going to find him tonight. My answer was Of course, you believe in him he will be here.
(((Judy))) - you have certainly had your share of horrible, no good, very bad things happen to you this last while yet you remain cheerful. Kudos to you for doing that. Ouch for your brother, Having experienced broken ribs myself I know what he is in for..... not pleasant.
Suse are you off to your family's already or are you not doing so until Christmas Day? Forgive me if you have already told us, my mind is on overload.
Mary do you have all those presents wrapped now? Mouth was watering at the Oysters Rockerfellow - one of our personal favourite. Yummo! Are you doing the Micro wave Peanut Brittle or the one done the long way with a candy thermometer? Santa Warren always used to use the time comsuming old recipe and every year other than the year it got dumped on the kitchen floor at one stage something was just not right with it. When I first made Micro PB he would not believe me it was so good. Do you use walnuts, peanuts, pecans in yours?
OK going to try and get a couple of hours sleep before we strike out for the CC.
December 24 th one of our favourite days of the whole year. I hope you all get to enjoy this day and share your love with those around you.
Dianne
Morning all, just back from Walmart for last of groceries..
Took gravel a few times, tummy making weird sounds but I'll forge through the day at an easy pace!
Might call aunt Exilda/uncle Louis. And uncle Allen to say I won't be making my Christmas eve visit to Penetang, who knows, sure wouldn't want to give them a bug!
Waiting for 9am, thinking I'll cancel hair appt for same reason..
A good vacuum, washing of floors and dusting and voila, Santa can come visit.
Dianne, Christmas eve day is also my favorite.. Of course Santa Warren will have a visitor tonight, remind him to put out those cookies, lordy, he is probably tired of cookies so why not a sausage roll.
More staff in Walmart than customers, won't be quiet in another couple of hours though.
Off to see what I can do with that apron while I sip on hot white chocolate and a dutchie from timmies.
Hope you all get to relax and enjoy your day..
Morning everyone!
Betty, sorry to hear your not feeling well! Prayers sent your way for a speedy recovery! what is gravel please?
Dianne, we will all be with you in spirit today, at the CC waiting for his treatment to be done! Hope it does not make Santa Warren too sick?
Well, today is Christmas eve, hope you all have your last minute shopping done. Stores were a mad house yesterday when Todd went in to get some chicken for dinner.
Oops gravol. Lol. Darn iPad..must learn to check before posting..settled down nausea..
Just had Suzanne and Lenny dropping in with gifts now off to make coffee and finish apron...not the greatest of instructions
Well, that was fun, no longer have a car, was told I'd not get it back for a few days..
Drats and more drats,
Decided I was feeling well enough to go get my hair done..
A cousin of mine was getting her hair done so I was talking to her, could feel myself pass out..got me on a chair and was doing same again..hoe embarrassing!
Of coure they know Greg so they called him, he was shopping in midland so had to leave his groceries and come get me..
Sooo I'm grounded..
Oh Betty, I hope you have your jammies on, and getting into bed! Sure wish I was closer to bring you soup, and make sure you get your rest!
ooooooooooooh Dianne......... Wish I could be there to give you some arm wraps... devastating news, for sure.
You didn't say how our Santa Warren is taking this. Has he settled into taking the radiation?
Betty - maybe being grounded is a good thing - you'll REST, right?
Got all my Christmas shopping done yesterday, wrapped Bob's presents, and wrapped those I'm taking to Winnipeg (Mom, 3 sisters, DD&SIL, plus 2 friends). Even got tags on, and Bob pulled out the suitcases (one for carry on, one for check-in) for me. He went out yesterday and did shopping for me, too LOL Got them wrapped in bedroom while I wrapped in den - back and forth went the wrapping paper LOL Played "exchange in the hallway" game LOL
What is going on this year? It seems like everryone I know is ill or just not feeling well!!!! I'm so sorry to hear you are ill Betty. After all your work to have a wonderful Christmas and here you are in bed!!! I wish I could just wave a wand and you would feel all better. My best friend here in NH has come down with Ramsay Hunt syndrome and is seriously ill. She is my fellow quilter here in Hillsboro. The symptoms she has are frightening and she hasn't gotten a prognosis yet. And our dear Santa Warren! I have so many prayers going out for all of you.....
In any case, I hope your Christmas is the best it can be for all....
I pray that your best friend will feel better!!
Betty & I just talked - she's resting, and promises to let people give HER a merry Christmas!
Hello everyone…I finally got released from the sewing room last night at 9pm!! Next year I definitely have do plan ahead with the sewing…lol
Gifts are all wrapped, 8 different kind of cookies are baked and ready to be eaten (wish I could share with you all) and my DH is cutting the meat and making the dipping sauces for tonight’s dinner with the kids. We will fry our meats/mushrooms on the “hot rock” with dipping sauces and French bread, and for dessert we will have a Toblerone chocolate fondue with fruits… We will open our gifts after Dinner (as it is German tradition) and then play games …Come on over everyone and celebrate with us!!!
Dianne and Warren my heart goes out to you both. For sure not the news you wanted to hear. We are all with you at the CC, and praying really hard that the radiation will help Warren. Hang in there Santa Warren, we all need you to be our Cupid, Easter Bunny, Leprechaun, Canada Day Guy, 4th of July Guy, Canadian Thanksgiving Pilgrim, American Pilgrim and of course our Santa again!!!
I must tell you Dianne and Warren this Christmas Swap was soooo special to me. It brought us all closer together, we made all new friends and we were able to share all the joy of giving and receiving with each other. I am sure we will continue this tradition for years to come, but this first Christmas Swap will always be very special to us. Thank you both for starting this beautiful tradition!! Lots of love and many hugs to you both, may the Lord grant you both many happy memories together.
Betty…I sure hope you are feeling better soon…rest and rest some more and let yourself get pampered by your family…you deserve it for sure!!!
Barb…is this Elaine you are talking about? If so please give her my wishes for speedy recovery and my thoughts and prayers are with her. And for you Girlie…hope you are feeling a bit better too, so that you can enjoy Christmas with your Family!!!
I just want to show you fast what I had been working on all these days!!
I made the German Coat of Arms for my Son…it is appliqued, machine and handquilted.
To all my new friends, I am so glad to have you all in my life!!!
Here is a little Christmas Story that I translated from German into English...I hope you enjoy it.
The light of hope
~~Submitted by R. Stich-Rodler
Four candles were burning on the Advent wreath.
It was quiet. So quiet you could hear how the candles began to talk.
The first candle sighed and said:
“My name is peace. My light is burning, but people keep no peace, they do not want me.”
The light was getting smaller and finally extinguished.
The second candle flickered and said:
“My name is faith, but I am useless. People don`t want to know anything about God. It no longer makes sense that I burn.”
A breeze blew through the room and the candle was out.
Softly and sad the third candle started to speak:
“My name is love. I have no strength left to burn. People push me to the side. They only see themselves and not the others who they should love.”
And with a last flicker this light was extinguished too.
A child came into the room. It looked at the candles and said:
“But, you all should be burning, and not be extinguished!” And it almost started to cry.
Then fourth candle spoke up and she said:
"Do not be afraid! As long as I burn, we can light the other candles again. My name is Hope."
The child took a match and lit it on the candle and lit the other candles again.
I wish you all a Merry and Peaceful Christmas and for the New Year I wish you Peace, Faith, Love and Hope.
Stay healthy and have a wonderful celebration with your Family and God bless.
Love and many Hugs
Thea and Family
This is our Christmas Tree and my Advent Candles...wish we could all celebrate together.

Thea - the coat of arms is fabulous - how do you suppose he will display it?
Your tree is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Are the candles real? And I see your 2 little elf gnomes in front of the tree - is that also a German tradition?
Oh how beautiful my dear friend. But most of all I loved your poem. How very true. It does sometimes take the eyes of a child....Thank you.
Yes it is Elaine who is so very ill. If you Google" Ramsay Hunt Syndrome" you will see. She has every single symtom they list. I so wish I could go to her but with an upcoming surgery, I can't. I think the thing she is most afraid of is her sight being damaged. She is a gifted painter (like our Betty) and has become an accomplished quilter as well. We know how much we depend on our sight and she is having a rough time of it right now. Please say a prayer for her recovery.
And our Betty who has worked all year for this day. My heart goes out to you to feel better quickly and my prayers that you will be able to enjoy your day. Sending love to you from both of us.
Norm and I are sending our wishes for a Merry Christmas and for peace and goodwill to all. I hope your day is a merry one and I'll be waiting to hear how Santa took good care of you.
Merry Christmas, love and hugs and prayers, to and for all............
Merry Christmas to all my wonderful DG friends (and family).
Sending love and hugs.....
Debbie
