Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Santa Judy visited me today and I got a whole box of goodies. There were handmade ornaments for my tree int he form of a Santa bell, birdhouse, and stocking filled with goodies and the yr on it. Judy painted a small sleigh with my little Jonathan's picture on it in the Santa suit from last Christmas. Two neat cookie cutters and clever thin pack for my credit cards or pictures of Mr. Bubbers (Jonathan). There was a kitchen set in black and white, my favs, with 2 towels, pot holder and mitt
. My favorite was a book called the Quilters Cookbook with all kinds of easy recipes to make when I get busy quilting and don't want to stop and a book of games for the season. All in all a great haul and I will enjoy each and every one of them. I have already spotted some of the recipes that I want to try. Pictures to follow.

Thanks Judy; as usual you hit the spot.

Friday will be the last day for Radiation. I was supposed to be done today but machine problems made them push things forward. I will be so glad not to have to drive into town every morning. It really cuts up my day. Of course, now I have a cold. It was 50 degrees this morning and be 30 tonight with rain off and on so you can see it is ripe for cold weather. I don't feel bad just can't sleep for the couching. I will go back in a month and they say I should have my energy back and the sunburn on the breast should be all healed. I have been very lucky and have not had any itching or bad sun burn symptoms so far. Now just pills and check ups for the next 5 years.

I am all done with shopping. This was an easy year with money or gift cards to all. that is what they asked for and while I normally don't like to do that with money so tight for them all from the families to the college students to the teens they just really appreciated that I could help them out. Made it easy for me. I did do some sewing; towels for some, a quilt for college student, tree skirt for me and a rag quilt for the GGS. I even had time to bake some cookies as long as I paced myself.

Friends are coming down on Friday and will leave on Saturday, then to middle son for Christmas Eve dinner. Sunday will be in Toledo with Stacey and Mr. Bubbers. I can't wait to see him tear open all the packages. He doesn't care what is in them yet but the paper is always fun. Stacey made a calendar for the grandparents with his pictures for each month and pictures of him with all the aunts, uncles, cousins on their birthdays and it is great. I love it and will have fun looking at it every day of 2012.

Merry Christmas to you all and have a healthy, safe New Year.

time to relax, boys just left..their pieces were left here so the urathane can dry...both are pleased. Am sure they will be a hit with mom and grandparents. They are old enough now to realize that this grandma gets the short end of the stick..lol

Always enjoy Noah, what a con artist he is..we were sitting waiting for the pieces to dry when he came and gave me a big hug..said 'grandma this is so much fun, just the 3 of us doing christmas crafts..only thing that would make it better is if we sat and opened our gifts, just us, enjoying each other' right, didn't fall for it

Janice I'm glad you are coming to an end of treatments and that you are starting to feel better. you will be a busy lady this coming week! Seeing Jonathan is sure to take all your energy so rest well my friend..imagine, his being 2..time flies doesn't it. Seems like yesterday that Stacey was here for a visit and she wasn't pregnant then.

I'm sure the kids appreciate getting $$$. Affords them to do something special that needs doing.

Love Judy's christmas box..wonder if we have quilters recipe books? that Judy is just so creative..and a sleigh with Jonathan's photo..imagine the creativity to undertake such a project.

Dianne, thrilled to hear that you have and Santa Warren received a victorian santa..how special is that.

yawning big time..only have 1/2 day tomorrow then I'm off until the New Year so am excited to go to bed so I can get tomorrow over with.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

This is the red Santa I sent to Dianne and Santa Warren.

Betty, those boys were trying real hard to be subtle about getting their pressies early! Pretty funny.

Janice, nice to hear your treatments are almost over! Love all the gifts you got from Judy!

Good evening....exhausted but wanted to say hello.

Busy day, and so much happening I can't keep up. Even DH is frazzled.

The good news....he found a car in "the range". Pick it up Friday. The not so good news, WOW....insurance with a 18 year old boy. The girls..it never really went up dramatic. Our normal bill....$850 a year. With DS on it....$2850 a year! Don't know how this is going to work.

Still not good news about the computer either. One day at a time! Had to cancel PT for tomorrow as DH needs to do too much running for paperwork for the car...which is picked up Friday I think.

I am heading to bed. Been a rainy dreery day.

Sweet dreams
Debbie

Verona, ON

GULP Debbie that is a big jump. Ontario has the highest vehicle insirance of all of the provinces. The cost for my Tang is out of sight especially considering it is only used part of the year by an over 60 year old female.DId you decide on a car..... did I somehow miss that?

Well there is so a Santa and he is here in Verona. Yesterday when I went to the Rx store I saw Santa driving a Ford Ranger down the road. He was sure a happy guy, waving at everyone as he drove south I might add not north.

Betty glad the boys got their crafts done for presents. What a sweet talking devil Noah was trying to be!! Does he not know his DGM knows all the tricks that could be played? What a nice boss Paul is!!!Great present.

Oh Barb the look of Sean's face is priceless. I am so glad you get to have this time together. As he gets older that will become quite a cherished memory for him I am sure.

Need to help Santa Warren turn over. Hope to BB later.

Glad to see you are heeding my prompt MAry!!We all tend to get so busy we forget to do the simplest things that say I love you.

Morning all, tossed/turned, then turned and tossed and thought what am I doing, can't sleep so get up and do something! Didn't do the 4 blocks I needed to do, just writting was left so likely I can get that done before leaving for work...big sales this morning at Canadian Tire so just might leave an hour early and do some final shopping,

Ohhh love the santa, bet Dianne you and Santa Warren were excited to get the box (glad Canada post found out where you live)!!!
Bet you feel warm in the heart looking around you and seeing so many pretties made with love.

Debbie, that is high insurance, yikes, how will it ever be paid. think these insurance companies are making premiums so high that people will go back to driving without and taking their chances. Sorry you will miss out on your PT, you really need it.

Wish we'd hear from Laura, know she has back problems, wouldn't be good for it to go on the fritz right now..

and lastly, finished works of art..

Just like Sean, smiles were worth the effort! Excited as to who gets which of the 3 candles.

Bought bags/tissue paper but forgot candles for them so must pick them up before coming home today. Told me they would be here early evening to pick up their treasures..wonder if mom (Melanie) will have to wait for Christmas morning or if she will be given it to enjoy over the weekend..

Oh Liz, those are so adorable! love them Can tell you put a lot of work into them.

Betty, the boys had a blast...I can tell.

Shane isn't feeling good at all, so he is home. I think our trip to burger king did a number on him last night as we have been eating healthy, and adding that didn't sit well.

Betty I did get my crackle medium at AC Moore just as they were closing at 10:00! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, it's an old recipe Roger used to make..

MICROWAVE 'BREAD PUDDING'

Microwave time: 15 to 18 minutes total

4 cups of bread cubes lightly packed into cup (5 to 6 slices)

1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 tsp. nutmet
1/4 cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cupt raisins (optional) also can add 1/4 cup of cranberries..adds nice color and adds to taste

Spread bread cubes evenly around an 8" round dish (or similar)
Sprinkle evenly with brown sugar, nutmeg, salt and then raisins

2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs, beaten

Measure milk into 1 qt measuring cup. Add butter.

Microwave on High 4 to 5 minutes, until butter is melted and milk is ward

Rapidly stir in eggs with a fork and mix well.

Pour over bread cubes in dish

Cover with wax paper

Microwave at Medium High 11-13 minutes.

Rotate dish 1/4 turn after 6 minutes. When cooked, center may still be slightly soft but it will set up as pudding cools.

Love having a scoop of ice cream with it

do you gals freeze your cabbage when doing cabbage rolls..was going to do them this afternoon but now I have to wait so that my cabbage freezes overnight.

Suzanne is at Trustee's office all day in Toronto, Lenny her hubby promised to bring meat pies tomorrow at his all male gathering for Christmas brunch at my brother Bernie's..she has no time for pies..offered to make them for her this aft. but never heard back..just might make a batch incase

Need wires/plugs for my car..Bernie has a mechanic coming tomorrow morning to do some work on a few vehicles.
Told me to go purchase what I need and he'll have the mechanic do it for me..as well, sure need a wiper for my side on the car so guess I'm buying pressies for my vehicle..she's done well for me soooo better treat her nice..besides never know if I'll skip the country soon

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I freeze the extra cabbage rolls after they are made, but never before. To make the cabbage rolls, I place the cored, head of cabbage in a large pan of boiling water, and peel the leaves off as they get soft.

Betty, you were going to send me a pattern for slippers, but you had to translate the instructions.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I did send you the slipper pattern shapes though didn't I???

Good morning!!
Wow, I've got to say: What a WONDERFUL Day it was yesterday.

It has seriously been a very long time since I Cried, smiled and laughed out loud and Cried some more, oh so happy cries

Betty, I LOVE, LOVE LOVE my Canadian Santa!! Thank you so much. What a really COOL Card...It was the last thing I saw again last night. Had to stay awake until Julia came home so I could show her, she thought it was so sweet too.

OH Dianne, I hope you can imagine the smile that beemed across my face to see you and Santa Warren have received my gifts!! So, happy you like them, lol a sigh a relief it got there before Christmas! !ROFLOL, at Santa Warren’s grumble. I bet he would be the best Cupid and or Easter Bunny!!Hehehe, nice to grumble with a smile…I am also excited because that means Betty, Susan and Thea will possibly receive their cards today too!
In fact it was with all the posts, that I carried throughout the rest of the day...LOL, I was very productive, lots done with big happy smile on my face. If I began to get frustrated, I just thought of all of you!

Janice! Gave another great smile to see you’ve received your box!! I am so glad you like everything. So glad, the radiation treatment coming to an end. Wow, you are very busy. I hope that you will Have the Best Christmas with the family and Johnathan.

Linda Kay, Love your Victorian Santa for Mrs Santa and Santa Warren!! He turned out beautiful.
Oh and I am keeping my fingers crossed Betty’s package finds it way too.

Mary, you CAN do it, and I hope your pie turns out fantastic!!

Had to stop and take Jake to the Dentist, ackk 400 to take care of 2 teeth! Yikers we still have 2 more fillings, plus one of the teeth he needs a root canal! Sigh, more money to do this and then back to dentist for final temp fill, not included with this filling, so paying yet again . My gosh!!

LOL, Before we went, I asked DH what time his appt. was. His reply; tootherty! Hahaha.

When we returned, I started on my last project…LOL, stared at the block for awhile, did some decorating, folded some laundry, stared some more, thought about what a fun day it was and the an idea popped into my head. LOL, so much for a clean Craft area, Pulled everything out and began searching for the right materials. By 11:30…My idea was cut, pieced and placed on the blank block!! Today will finish sewing and it will be off in the mail, lolol only a month behind…but I am please with the way it’s turning out!

And then this Morning, I am right back to smiling.

LIZ!! OMG, your slippers are Way cool!! Love them, lol I recognize that RWB.

Betty, Oh, I just love the boys came and Did their candles!! They turned out Fantastic!

Debbie, sorry to hear you are still having computer problems, but so glad to see when you can pop on!
You and Paul hang in there. Yikes things seem to get so busy all at one time! Yaya on the Truck!

Oh, oh…misplaced my Super sonic sleigh locator!! Waiting for one more delivery, So I hope I can find it.
Rolling my eyeballs, I can’t believe how many things I’ve misplaced this month, ha this year even, geesh.
Julia laughed and said it’s because I’m being too organized! Think she’s right!!

OK, I’ve got to get some coffee…and get to my sewing.
See you in a bit.
