Best, worse, what did I learn today? Chat with friends
Dianne posted last post on previous thread
I'm up too and have been for a bit. Finally fell asleep about 3 am and got up around 5:15 am. Extremely happy to report Santa Warren had and is still having a good night's sleep, falling to sleep about 9:30 am and other than a couple of pit stops is still asleep. Oh joy! I am soon heading out to Kingston to WallyWorld and grocery shopping but just remembered he said he might like to come along. Would love to have him with me but that means I will wait until he wakes up. Since I am to make that emergency run into Kingston tomorrow because of my stupidity and forgetfulness maybe I will take him then. I am trying to beat the hordes at the grocery store and finish up the last of the bathroom items for DH's stocking.Having WM open 24/7 until Christmas is great for people like me.
LK I bet you are excited about today's activities. I know you will have a blast. Is this the son's DGF who kept in prayer last week? What's on the menu?
Mary does someone here on the thread have a copy of Whirligig that they are finished with and could be passed on? I have a friend here on DG who would really enjoy the book. I would gladly pay for the postage.I have finished Mind's Eye - did so quite awhile ago. Forgot it has been sitting in the bag that I take to the CC - will mail it off after Christmas to someone on this thread who I think will really enjoy it. Loved the book but not as much as Whirligig - now that one was precious.
Got the results of my latest MRI on Friday. Not going to dwell on it but there has been some changes in my Pit tumour. Since the Endo said the changes were slight she will order another MRI for 6 mon.
OK need to shower,,, if I get time and the salon is open I will get my hair cut this am too.
Enjoy your day everyone. May it be everything you want this day to be!
Dianne, glad you had a good nights rest, gives you energy for the running you have to do today! Lordy even at the time I went yesterday Walmart was filling up with shoppers.
How overwhelmed you must be to get the report re Pitt tumor..just what you did not need to hear. Hopefully the 6 month wait does mean little to no chance it will become something of a concern.
Coffee break is over..
Thanks for the new thread Betty!
You haven't left yet Dianne? Will Santa Warren go with you?
Few snow flakes in the air..drive carefully
Just out my tourtière mixture to cook so staying close by the stove..glad it has to cool before putting in pie shells as I forgot pie plates..know I had about 8 glass pie plates but think Greg takes a oil home and there goes the pie plate..Mel says she has no extras so it's back to tin foil..now a fpd rive to grocery store is in order!
Haven't left Betty Santa Warren woke up briefly insisted he wanted to come along and then immediately fell back to sleep.lol I will wake him for the second time here in a few minutes.
Time for another coffee.
Dianne
Hope weather is ok for your driving..how long will it take you?
Do you think he might be afraid to stay alone Dianne? N
Just got back frm Foodland, starting to storm..glad I've planned my day and will stay inside
Good Morning!
Second time again this dumb thing decided to shut down and update.
I will be glad to post a picture of all my pressies when my daughter arrives and helps me to do it as I'm not that savy on the computer. They are beautiful and also the two plaques that Susan sent.
I was suppose to work today, but censous is down at the hospital so I'm at home on call. Oh well, I'll still get paid some for doing that. I will continue to clean the house. If they cancel me by noon I will take the big comforters in to town and wash in the big machines.
The sun is shining and suppose to get to 53 today. It will be nice. I need to change window wipers and air filter in Durango and burn the trash.
Yes, I miss Tubby dearly at this time and have shed many a tears, but I will go on. Got into it with his girls and will no longer have any contact with them. It's easier for them to blame me for everything than to face up to what they've done. Life will go on without them. The saddiest part is knowing I won't see the grandkids. Nothing I can do about it. Some day they may wake up.
Thanks for the recipe. Will try it.
I hope that the gift I sent to my Christmas exchange person arrives within the next day or two.
Well, I better get to work or the day will be long gone before you know it. Have a lovely day everyone and God Bless.
Shirley
Always so nice to check the thread and see you post Shirley!
Without a doubt I know exactly what you are going through, experienced same with Roger's family..took years, relationship with about 4 of them, the rest not but I've made the best of it..still to this day it takes all my MIL can do to gab with me..I've finally after all these years put her dislike for me right where it should be, in the past..that being said, for my kids and for my memory of Roger a Christmas gift is under the tree and I'll make sure she gets it.
Each day will be a challenge for you ,but as you say, one day the grandchildren will grow and you will get to see them again!
Hope you get much of your housework done, will make things easier for you this week..did you say you will visit your mom/sister for Christmas?
Hello To All !
Yes - Mary is up early for the second day in a row ! Not usual for me on a weekend! :o)
Dianne - glad you and Warren will get to head out to Wally world together. I'm gonna put my positive hat on as usual and agree with Betty... if they decided to wait 6 months for the MRI then surely it's just precautionary...
Two Whirligigs should be spinning out there... Maybe with the holidays everyone has just forgotten...Did Debbie & Susan ever get a copy ? I surely don't mind it being sent to your DG Friend... that's in the spirit of the Whirligig :o)
I gave one to my DS's GF and told her not to give it back but to "Pass it forward" as well...
Yes - I loved Minds Eye but not as much as Whirligig.... Have you read Seedfolks? If not... will send it to you after the holidays...
OH Shirley ! SO glad to *see* you ! a Huge ((HUG)) for those tough times... I suppose as Betty said... time to start a tradition in memory... Not the same as losing a husband, but I always send a Donation to a Dog Charity in honor of Mom... and Mom has had an extra wonderful Christmas this year Thanks to Santa Warren and Dianne ! But I think doing something each year in memory has helped...
Shame on those girls... If you send a card to the DGK's do you think they will receive it?
SO Betty do you have a Cooking day ahead ? I feel like doing some cooking and maybe even some organizing... hope I still have this energy after getting dressed.
Hubs has these piles of papers all over the house... it's killing me... so I think I'll go buy a file organizer and just put them up FOR him.... THen I can put that in a closet. Merry Christmas to me.
Betty - It's really neat to watch the girls plan their own dates to visit their Bio Mom... they chose 12/26-29. It's nice to see them take control over that situation. They could have gone any time 12/21-1/7. Nice to be out of that myself.
I'll pop back...
((HUGS))
Mary
Mary think getting up early comes with Christmas week, all are trying to beat the clock so there will be less pressure as Sunday nears!
I've got meat pies done, if they taste as good as they look I'll be in business. Put 3 shells in freezer and made a lemon meringue pie for tonight's treat.
No sooner did I have my hands in pie crust batter did Greg call, wanted to take me out for lunch..absolutely not, no time for that. Lol. Got reminded again about not going crazy in the food dept..lol. I am so organized with the food part of Christmas dinner..only have cabbage rolls left to do and done..ordered fruit, veggie, cheese platters..got to love it when you are ahead of the game.
Been trying to watch a movie and Rogers satellite keeps breaking..should just shut tv off but was enjoying my Christmas movie.
Mary, it does my heart well knowing there is no stress with the girls heading out to bio mom's..it is clearly starting to show their preference is at home with you.
Not sure where I put whirligig after I got. It from Susan and read it..will go on the hunt..sorry skipped my mind as to who I was to forward it to.
The copy I had went to Debbie last summer......
just a quick Hello to let Y'all know I am breathing better, still coughing like crazy...but sure feels goods to take a better breath!! going to go back to doctors tomorrow I hope, will call the office early in the am. I sure can not work coughing like this.
I am going crazy waiting for word of special delivery today!!!!
I got a letter from Santa, (via Dianne) telling me to not worry about my package, that my buddy will understand. :) so buddy, thank you. I should have been at it sooner and this would not have happened :( I am often more creative when "under pressure'' sew I tend to wait till near the due date on things like this...... you will get a special delivery to help you cheer in the new year, and I can only hope you find it worth the wait.
Whoever your buddy is, Thunder, I'm SURE she'll be absolutely willing to wait. I hope your cough gets better soon. And your "special delivery"............ I know you're anxious!!
Shirley - I really "feel" for you during this time - it's difficult to lose a husband anyway, but to have the family distance themselves is difficult, and missing your DGKs............ ((((((((Shirley))))))
Betty - you don't cook, but you BAKE?! hmmmmmm well, I'd certainly be willing to taste your baking!
Sue - your DD is ridiculous.......... 'nuff said!!
Glad you are feeling better..I'm as anxious as you to see you post saying our Christmas pressie is now home..
will you be going to work tomorrow? When do you leave for you Christmas visit?
Susan my grandfather owned a bakery..just like doing pies..cookies I USUALLY burn...there is that bad word again.
I have worked non stop since Friday early a.m. - exhausted but nice exhausted if you know what I mean..finally finished the
(3 ) 12 Months of Christmas Quilts - all that remains is hair for 5 angels x 3 quilts and they can be wrapped..you have no idea just how much the pressure is now off my shoulders.. if I could not give all 3 I would not have given any..now comes hoping the recipients will realize the amount of work and love that went into them..
I had my bath, got comfy and was patting myself on the back for all I accomplished this weekend..came downstairs to shut t.v. off and saw the bag with rag quilt blocks/rows for Cathy..well going to sew a bit..told myself no more than 1 hour..
no more than one hour.......... famous last words, Betty! LOL
Yes..lol.
Pinning blocks together
Just checked my e-mails and got one from my sister Sharon who is in Florida re dog show..
Here is her post
Hi,
I'm finished dog showing but Graeme has today.... I stayed at the hotel
today, although the sun is shining its much cooler than the last 5 days.
I'll go for a walk and maybe sit by the pool for a while... I'll check out
the musicnex tomorrow when we are sight seeing.
Things have gone very nice for Inuk, he won breed the 4 shows and set a
record for the first American Eskimo to win at Westminster (NY), the
American National and this show all in the same year.
I'll be home Tuesday night... I'm so tired... I've been at the show for 4
days from 6 am to at least 10 pm each day. Haven't even seen the sun until
today.
TTYL
She will be thrilled to come home with such prestigious awards..
Oh Betty - Congratulations to Inuk & Sis ! How wonderful !
Thunder - a bit worried... please have them rule out whooping cough ! If you are coughing and can't catch breath that is a symptom....So happy you'll have a "Special Package" this Christmas !
Susan - do you have to work a full week this week? Waving to Barb... did all your projects get done for Christmas ?
Betty - those pies look Perfect... should have sent you a pic of the Pumpkin Pie I made for Tksgiving... you'd have laughed! Would like to try another pie (oh my!). I'll go see what Hubs would like...Need to try again now I have Dianne's Pie Tips..
I finished Passalong Plants and then Read a bit of Dianne's Cookbook today with sticky notes to mark recipes I'd like to try... Very interesting similarites in recipes and differences in recipes. In her area in the 40's there was a restaurant where you could order a Peanut Butter Onion Sandwich for 10 cents !
I caught a little of Betty's energy today too.... Organized all of Hubby's paper piles... pile of bills ...a years worth of mismatched socks....cooked dinner....cleaned....laundry....
Best: Getting more organized than I've been in months...
Worst: Finding out Hubs has NOT been paying the medical bills ! I went online and paid them... (with his CC)
Learned: So very much about the Verona area and new recipes. Hope I have extra time over the holidays to try some of them...
((HUGS))
Mary
the delivery has arrived ^_^
Mary, I think it does not sound like whooping cough, and I have asthma...so when ever I get a cold / bronchitis I have difficulty with breathing.... I am feeling some what better, but sure coughing too much to work. I will call the doctor in the morning..
quilts look almost as fantastic as those pies do Betty LOL :)
Oh LK ! How wonderful... Your Christmas Begins ! Great to have several celebrations! What did the DGK's get and their reactions to the goodies !? Or is that going to be tomorrow morning ?
Thunder... Wonderful News! Your boy is safe and sound... Glad it's not whooping cough... but too bad it persists... Hope you feel better very soon....
Yes - those quilts are beautiful... 12 Months of Christmas !
I'm sure in the Christmas mood Betty but not sure why getting up early... not gonna complain as we have a sales meeting in the morning that I HAVE to be early to and we'll all surely get chewed out. I'm cheerful though as I expect it...and won't be alone ...
Will put Christmas music on my Pandora...
Rory, got lots of WWE wrestler items, and a new bike, and MaryAnne got lots of Barbie, and princess items!
Awe LK - I'll bet they were SO EXCITED ! ((HUGS))
Lovely, lovely photo LK!! Gorgeous grandbabies you have there. Hope Heather will stay well and not have another scare.Tell her to try for March 10 - that was my daddy's BD and he was the most wonderful, gentle sweetest man I have ever known. Daddy love to have an 'honourary' grandbaby to look over. He told me many times how disappointed he was that I did not have any children. Don't think he understoond how disappointed I was!
Mary you have another go at pie making. If Lance enjoyed your last pie he will be blown away by this one.Just think we can have a joint cooking session - you pick a recipe in the village cookbook and then we can both make it the same day comparing notes. That would be fun!!! Haven't read Seedsowers and would love to....... Barb I will mail you Mary's copy of Mind's Eye in the new year plus another book that Misty Meadow from here on DG sent me. It was a perfect read for me at the time Warren was first diagnosed and I think Kathy knew it would be.
Santa Warren ended up coming into town with me. We both came home knowing we each had 2 ears and our 'listening' skills were probably worsened by all the hair over our ears. We both have very short hair cuts and we are both loving it!We never did get to WM but I will do that in the am when I go back into Kingston. Grrrrrr! We managed to get our Christmas grocery shop done - a few more extra treats in the cart than if I had been grocery shopping on my own but that's alright, Sure hope Santa Warren wants to eat all those extras he tossed into the cart.
Thunder doing the Happy Dance for you.Sure hope you kick the butt of what ails you so you can enjoy your special delivery. Santa Warren was so concerned about you getting healthy for the holidays Thunder. He didn't want you missing out on 1 second of enjoyment with your family. I am positive your Swap Buddy understands completely.
Betty how much time do you think it will take to complete Cathy's quilt? If those 3 people receiving those lovely quilts do not appreciate how much work and love went into the making of them they deserved their a**** kicked and you cansend 1 of the quilts to me. Just kidding!!!!! They look beautiful. My goodness Kyle is a long stream of water. Was Rodger tall?
Hope everything is OK in Judyland and she is just busy busy getting everything done for Christmas.
I acatually am feeling sleepy... not going to fight that feeling. off I toddle to bed. Ssanta Warren is sound asleep already and not rattling too badly so far. Fingers crossed!
Sweet dreams everyone!
Dianne
Just got caught up with your day dear friends, now I'm going to roll over and try to sleep!
Morning everyone, coffee is on and help yourself to lemon meringue pie
LindaKay, what a beautiful family you have..those grand hidden as sooo adorable. Bet you enjoyed watching them as they opened their gifts in awe. Did any home sewing go to heather?
Dianne, if I had today off, Cathy's quilt would be finished...hard work is done now just sewing blocks (1/2 done) and sewing 13 rows together and voila, done. Lol
Roger was 6', Greg is 6'3 Jeff 5'11 Kyle is 6'1 the rest of the boys are close to and will likely be over 6' by the time they are finished sprouting..I'm 5' tippy toes, grandfather 4'10 so thank dood ness they don't take after my side of the family
Oops sailor wants in, be back in a bit
Are you all sleeping or busy ?
Time to get ready for work..few things I'd like to get done before I start my work week. Work week? lordy it will be relax time getting to go to the office
have my blocks sewn together..tonight hopefully I can finish sewing then laundromat at some point this week to wash and dry
that leaves a crayon apron that I purchased the pattern online..looking all over for it and cannot find..hope I can download..might mean a quick trip at lunch to pick up fabric, how come you never seen to have the right fabric when you come to sew?
Morning. Ready for coffee. Going to have a shower then head into WM. Have a post -a -note on several places inlcuding the Escape's steering wheel to remind me to go in and sign the papers I forgot last week. The reason I am going into to town to begin with.
Lots of lemon in the pie Betty? The tarter the better in our house.
Just realized Suse hasn't posted much in a few days - hope she is feeling better.
Santa Warren was the smallest of the 3 boys and he is about 6'2". His oldest brother was not only quite a bit taller but also thicker through the waist area. I could not put my arms around DB to hug him and get them to touch. He was a big lad and like his baby brother strong as an ox.
WIndy but a tad warmer here today. Calling for rain. How about you Betty, Debbie and Thea?
Checkback in when I return from town.
Dianne
Me sleeping Betty .... surely you jest? What about you LK and Laura you 2 are usually up with Betty and I?
LK did you see the featured article on Feather Trees this morning here on DG? Interesting read.
At this time of year Dianne I don't go anywhere without a note..hard part is remembering the note..at times when I forget the note I play a game to see how many of the items I can guess at? Lol
Cold out but no snow or rain..
Had wanted to go to Walmart this mornimg but running late so will have to wait (remind me to tell you something about Walmart when I get a chance-not happy with them)
Roger Dianne when we married was 54 across shoulders and 36 at waist, almost a "v"
I was 5' and 110 lbs..96 lbs when we married..yikes I'm almost double that size, not so etching I want to think about as I look at the tangie lemon melange pie!
Was thinking about Laura, Katie and Suse this morning..hooe they post so I know they are ok
Judy and Debbie?? What are you doing..as for Thea I can almost see her sitting at sewing machine
Thunder, bet you slept like a babe last night knowing your precious son is home out of harms way.
Almost time to head out, imagine not bringing a craft bag..do have crochet at work if I find the day long
Gab later
Still not in the shower off there right now. Then off the to WM!
Morning everyone! I am here, just sleeping in today! Thanks for the coffee and pie!
Dianne, I did read that Feather tree article! Love to learn the traditions of years past!
We had a wonderful visit with the kids yesterday, they are still here, they are going home tomorrow!
The brown lap quilt I made is for Heather's parents. The sunflower quilt I made last year was for Heather.
This message was edited Dec 19, 2011 7:24 AM
Enjoy your day with them LindaKay..plan anything special?
Just to sit and watch the kids play!
That feathered tree was soo interesting. I enjoyed it too.
Good Morning!
I am here! my sewing machine has been just a humming away!! LOL.
Betty, My goodness I am soooo sure the recipients of those Stunning quilts will absolutely LOVE them!!
Ahhh, so nice to take a break, oh golly until the rag quilt bag was found! heheh, bet you were like, now where did that come from/
So, I took a break from everything and went to a wrestling match. Awe, my poor guy was injured!! Pulled a muscle in his neck and literally stopped his match.
he was still undefeated until now, ended up with 4th. He was a just a tiny bit disappointed, I was pretty proud of him for that decision, told him it was for the best and geesh, he still in the top 6 for that one meet!... Diane, yes, he still has wrestling practice and meets during winter break, started today! Awe, so glad you and Santa Warren went and got extra treats, thats what's suppose to happen, lol...
With going to that, I killed almost three hours of sewing time...so finished up when i got home. Then yesterday, DH and I went yet another visitation, His long time friend's dad passed away...Sure hope we don't have another for a very long time! But wow, we haven't seen this friend in about 10 years, they live in Michigan.
Right after that we went to our Cuz' house for her Christmas Gathering. OMG, Nancy gave each of a beautiful memorial ornament for our Danny.(lost in Car crash), AND, a plaque, she has a star named for him on behalf of US all....What a beautiful thing to do.
Thunder, I sure hope you are feeling better, Can't wait for you to get your Special Delivery Pressie!!! My, I was tearing up, grinning ear to ear when I saw your post!... also glad to see you had a day o,ff to sleep! Hope your drinking lots of water too.
Oh no, hope Momma wasn't hit with it too...OK sending Gentle Arm Wraps for you both to feel better...((((((((((((((((((Thunder and Momma)))))))))))))))))
OH, Susan, How Grand, you are able to go see your Mom and family!!!! Bummer, Bob isn't able to go. But you have just a wonderful, wonderful visit. Know, youv'e been trying for a long time, so glad and happy you were able to get the plane fare!
Miss my mumma so very much, but Decorating for the holiday sure brings back her smiles enough to warm my heart, she always loved decorating for Christmas!
Barbara, Are you feeling better? sure hope so...
LOL, Sending big Arm Wraps to Everyone!
Which reminds me, I was so glad to see you are liked my Christmas cards and I sure hope that all in Canada receive there's soon!
It was funny because, I made one for my Santa buddy and that made me decide everyone should get one! My buddy sleigh is pulling out today!
and Thank you for the beautiful Christmas cards: Shirley, Barbara, received this weekend.
Oh Linda Kay! What a fantastic family photo!! So glad you are enjoying your visit...I love that your tree is outside! hmmm, might just have to do the same here, not that we don't have enough room, but because, I think our tree is more then dead! Very brittle, sigh...and it does not seem to be drinking the water, well we will see what everyone thinks about it...ROFLOL.
Wow, we had a light snow this weekend, it was very pretty and today it's 40 degrees again!! Well, it still is fall, right...
Bev, What a great photo of your Boys!! They are quite handsome, isn't it wonderful to get them all together? Just love when all my kids are together and i am hoping/praying for a new photo of the three of them, for my gallery wall...lol, I've asked and they just roll their eyeballs at me, lol brats they are.
OH, We had Alissa's folks over for breakfast!! This was the first time in 5 years we got together, just to get together. We were all nervous, since the last time, I was ready to strangle them...But, The visit was very, very nice!! They stayed for a little over an hour and Jake decided to Chef it up and made us Pancakes...And of course they just loved Skittles to pieces, I think the mom was impressed that We have Alissa's photo on the gallery wall, lol well duh, she's a part of our family.
..oh, can you all say a quick prayer of good luck! Alissa has an interview for Childrens Memorial Hospital tomorrow!!!
Ok..I've got to run,
Whew, i think after today, i will be in good position to play more often...Mary, After the holdays, i would love to read Seedfolks. LOL, I think I'll be reading for a while, woohoo, can't wait either! Speaking of reading, Debbie...lol i got the wrong Angel book! hahaha, i'm such a dork sometimes!
ok, ok...se you in a bit,
Enjoy your Day everyone!
spoke to the dr on the phone this morning, she is going to call in a script for a different inhaler, she does not want me to come in!! too many sick people every where...she said stay home and get more rest!!!! and when ready, she will give me a note for work she said there is a lot of this "yuck" going around, and it it a loooong recovery. :( I have already missed 5 days of work !! have not done that in ages.
Sailor will be here tomorrow!!! I am hoping he does not get sick!!! other guys here seem ok.
at long last the greatest thing my eyes could see this morning......now to get my arms around him....
