Best/worse/what did I learn today? chatting/all welcome
Dianne, so thrilled that meds are helping Santa Warren..for him to be out shopping and helping outside is a miracle well placed! Can't believe all the sales going on in celebration of BlackFriday weekend..think lots of Canadians are taking advantage.
Susan, you feeling any better?
Suse, did you enjoy your thanksgiving within-laws?
Bev, what have you been up to?
Thanks for the new room Betty, sounds like your all set for Christmas! I'll join you in one of the comfy chairs!
Dianne, so glad to hear the new meds are working better for Santa Warren!

Betty I think if you leave by about 8am…swing by Verona to pick up Dianne and Warren you should be here in plenty of time for Dinner tomorrow *sigh* we can all dream a bit, can we.
Betty…Kyle’s teacher is quite something…to make a mistake and then to never show up for the meeting. Kyle is handling it so well, you can be very proud of him. In one way I hope the teacher isn`t there so the principal would get involved and maybe the teacher reprimanded.
Dianne what great news that Santa Warren is feeling better and that he was able to go shopping with you!! I will be saying extra prayers that he continues to feel good for a long time to come!! Mmmmmmmm Beefstew…that is one of my favourite meals in Wintertime…just warms your tummy, body and soul.
Would be so nice to sit with you all around the fireplace…lol…knowing me I would be dozing off in no time…hope I won`t snore too loud…lol
Well I better get the cheesecake baked…bbl
Thea
As soon as the snow is done for the year I'm heading your way..remember, save those pennies, 2012 reunion for DG sisters is planned at my house this year!
lol I sure hope it will be a fast winter with little snow!! Do you already know when abouts you will have the meeting?
Iting till Christmas season is over with then start planning..was thinking mid June/ July..would like the gardens in bloom
I am sure that would be do-able...was thinking Bernie and I could go and stop/sleepover at my DM's cousin in North York.
They are both in their 80 and the sweetest people ever. They have the most beautiful gardens, huge veggie garden and an orchard with mature cherry/peach/plum/apple trees in the middle of the city. They built their house in the 50 when they immigrated to Canada and at that time it was almost a rural area...now all the big developers bought up all the houses and properties around them and are building apartment buildings and malls.
They told us the last time we visited that at least twice a year somebody from the developers knock at their door to make an offer on their house and property....the offers are close to 800 000$ now!! But they say no...this is their home and they want to die in there, they know the house would be torn down and everything on property destroyed...they are just heartbroken of what will happen once they are gone.
ANYWAYS...lol....sorry for straying with my thoughts...we would stop to visit them and then drive on to meet EVERYONE at your place!!!
That truly would be exciting..
No problem about straying, somebody says something and it brings a memory to the surface..I lived a year or so in rexdale, at that time out in the boonies people said..I've gone back to find it and our home is no longer..remember my dad paid something like $50k and that was mega $$ back then now the homes are close to a million, who would have thunk it. Lol
Glad they aren't letting the realtors pressure them into selling,at their age staying in their home as long as they canister the thing to do
Well, think I'll have a quick turkey sandwich and head to bed. Cousin is coming to spend the morning if not the afternoon so much to do early morning. Sailor is agitated tonight, not quite sure why?
Tomorrow I would have been married 46 years..hard to believe soon roger will have been dead almost as long as we were married..seems like yesterday!!
Night night everyone!
Oh Betty - memories will be around you tomorrow... Happy Anniversary... I love you both.... Maybe Roger will send you a message like Deb's mom or Judy's spirit... Keep your eyes open... ((HUGS))
Happy Birthday Thea ! ((HUGS)) I too am so sorry we are "Belated" but I will take a piece of Cherry Torte ! You do seem to miss Germany... what do you miss the most / least ? (I know family ... but *other than*)
Thea - have you seen the Disney Movie "UP" ... Would love for you to rent it... part of the movie just as you describe... city grows up from the house and everyone clamoring for the old man's house. It is a beautiful movie to me...
Dianne - you don't know how excited I am for Santa Warren.... So glad the meds are finally working as they should...
DSD #2's friend had wanted to give her a Surprise Bday party ... so tonight is the date... I took the family out for Hibachi to give the friends a couple hours to decorate the back yard and we came home before them.... were able to *surprise* her....
Now that our family is a bit larger with DSD1's BF and DS's GF... I'm really enjoying the family much more... new family members balancing everyone out....fewer arguments and the girls are maturing especially the one in college.
Betty - It seems that reminds me of one of the kids I know... taking time to answer questions in entirely.... Hmm... Well shame on that teacher as Dianne etc said... I've always held teachers to a high standard and I'm so disappointed when they don't operate on that level..... we always held teachers on a pedestal and Mom always gave me the teachers pointof view when I was in disagreement .... when I took that stance with the kids (girls) they never understood why I didn't just take their side...
Judy...Congrats on the new baby ! ((HUGS)) and on Jakes' wrestling... will need to try to grow Sage now ... we have a bonfire outside wiht the *party* and I love it....
Morning all. Here I thought we'd get snow overnight, let the furries out and it's so mild, few drops of rain but am sure it will be a gorgeous day..hoping when Linda leaves we'll both drive our vehicles up back concession and cit greenery for floral arrangements..nice to set it under the deck until the week before Christmas so that I dont have to tramp the fields in below zero weather and in a blizzard..almost lost my life, no exaggeration, a few years ago doing this..did learn my lesson!
Mary, you do such interesting things on your weekend..big smile when I read your comments regarding the kids and the fun times you are having, who would have thought it, didn't we tell you one day it would come to pass.
Barb, you are awfully quiet, not a good sign my friend..sending prayers.
With coffee in hand, housework done I'm off to sew
Had a wonderful Thanksgiving at DH oldest DD house great food ,family and friends.
DD#2 with her dad so will wait till she gets home to put up xmas decos.
Happy Birthday Thea.
Waving to all.
Coffee is on.
Alot of sewing to do before xmas.....why did I wait????
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready, and hot banana muffins.
Oh yum LK.Thanks! I made Banana Cranberry Bread this week and DH declared it delicious. Think that recipe is a keeper.
Supposed to rain here Betty and Thea for the next few days. Hopefully the temps will keep right around where they are now - 45* to 50*F so we won't have to worry about freezing rain. *Sigh* My biggest driving fear!
Mary it sounds like you had a good time with the kiddos and their friends.
Laura so happy to read your Thanksgiving was wonderful at DH's DD. Nice when you and DH don't feel you have to host all of the celebrations. Sew your little fingers off!!
Just a reminder that Thurs is Dec 1 so if you haven't mailed your parcels for the Christmas Exchange you should think about doing so inthe next week or so ....... Canadian mail is very slow. I swear the old Pony Express would be faster and more reliable.
Thinking about making some cookies today, was going to do it tomorrow but DH sees his Palliative Care team then. They are sure going to be happy to see the change in Santa Warren. When we last saw them 3 weeks ago Dr. Harle was concerned about me keeping DH at home in the state he was in. Saw our GP on Friday and she gave me her cell and home phone # for future use. I am the type of person that likes to know what happens if x happens. I was concerned about who to call if DH passed suddenly here at home - Dr Death was very understanding and said of course you want to know what to do and the first thing you don't do is call 911. Dr Death is the Coroner for our village, so she is the one to call. As morbid as it sounds we have also made arrangements with a Cremation and Transfer service so I won't have to worry about all those details either when the time comes. DH wants no service, no wake and I will respect his wishes. The company we used takes care of all of the forms required right down to helping me fill out the Govt forms for pension and such. Now if I could just find our marriage certificate I would be all set.
Crissy are you suffering from 17 # turkey overload???lol
Judy so good to hear from you. Hope you have a grand time at your celebration this weekend.
I am sitting here at my desk and watching about 14 wild turkeys make their way through one of my flower gardens. They are driving Stormy and Quill nuts! Mary do you remember seeing them about 2 weeks ago on our walk?
So Debbie how did it feel to get those jeans on after all this time? Great I bet!! I know DH was sure happy to be wearing his again. Most days now he can reach down and put his own socks on so that is a real improvement.
Coffee is ready and I sure need it! BBL
Dianne
Good morning,
Dianne, after being in jeans for the last 40 years....would you believe I couldn't stand the feel of them on my legs!! I think it is because my nerves are so aggrivated...and the denim heavy. Wore them out to dinner and pretty much did the "strip" coming in the door to climb out of them. Also, they are a bit snug at the knee area when I sit...and that isn't good for the circculation area especially since that is where some of the nerve damage is. BUT...I felt human for an hour! lol
Your GP is an amazing person. THat is all exactly what we did for DM when she was ill. Almost all paperwork done before hand. Is there a "hall" you can send to to get a copy of your marriage certificate NOW before things are needed ASAP??? I would look into that.
Betty, we are supposed to have nice weather until Wednesday or Thursday. They said it might bet in the 60 range again today.....just a bit of rain. DH got the lights up yesterday so that was a relief.
Girls came over for left over last night, and I unloaded some of those snowmen on them. Of course they both wanted the two I wanted to keep. lol They laughed about the mouse nest story as they knew that was a grandma trip for sure.
Thea so sorry I missed your birthday.....I hope you had a wonderful one, and I think you should celebrate a few more days since we were "slacking" in the birthday wishes!! lol
Welll, need my coffee and to get moving. My "border" that I had for four months, Nate....left yesterday for another family. Will miss his smile....but thats about it!!! Was nice sleeping last night without him up and down the stairs 20 times a night.
Enjoy your day!
Debbie
Good morning, everyone. I've been able to catch up on everyone's news as my puter seems ok today. I got a lot of cleaning/orgamizing done while not able to be on the puter. I even found my knee brace!! Quite a relief.
Got hit with something yesterday and slept all afternoon. Still groggy this morning but no pain.
My arm is much better. Hang on, Betty, I still think it might be some weird virus.
Our new garden is coming along great and Tony washed a bunch of dihes yesterday while I did some laundry. My cut hand is still sore but I have it seriously wrapped up and am being careful reagrding dirt, etc.
Our weather is clear and beautiful. Quite windy yesterday but I'm somewhat protected andwasn't bothered. When I lived where I got all the wind off the sea it sometimes got to me.
Sorry I missed your birthday, Thea.
Debbie, you need some Granny dresses from the 60's. So glad you are getting better all the time and Nate is able to move on.
Battery low again. Must go.
hugs, katie
Debbie, so glad to hear your doing better, and getting around more! Please don't over do it?
Katie, glad to hear your arm is doing better, and that you found your knee brace. Did the dog's hide it somewhere? Take care of that hand please?
Dianne, so glad to hear Santa Warren is doing better. Amazing how much meds can help, when you finally get the right ones!! I have my present ready to mail, and it will be going out Monday.
Well, I can't decide which color Santa to make? I have two more faces to use, should it be red, or green? What's your favorite color please?
LK my choice is red.
Katie good to hear you found your knee brace.
Debbie leftovers wish I had some.
Hi Everyone!!
THEA So sorry I missed your birthday too!! I guess the tryptophan got me.
Whew that 17# turkey was A LOT of food, and no we didn't eat it all, about half, maybe a little more than half, is still stashed in the freezer.
I agree, Kyle's teacher needs to be reprimanded, I'm glad Kyle's sticking to his guns, he needs to. I had a teacher like that, except mine was a bit worse, we did a huge report on a country we picked and I forgot to put my table of contents in it and instead of docking a grade, which is what she was supposed to do, she flunked me and said that I wasn't going to pass 8th grade, I carried a B in English before this happened. My mom was POed to the max and we ended up at the school board, I ended up with a B in the class and she lost her job. She did that to me because she didn't like me, there was another student in there who she didn't like either and tried to do the same thing to. That's lazy on the teachers part and then they wonder why kids don't care about their schoolwork or grades, if the teachers don't care then how in the world are the kids supposed to care?
Katie so glad you found your brace, your oops is healing, and your arm is doing better!
Debbie you're getting there, one step at a time! Yeah for jeans! I have I think 5 pairs of jeans and they're all the same brand, style, and size, and every one of them fit different. It's the strangest thing.
Dianne so glad that Warren is doing better on those meds!!!
((((((((((((((JUDY))))))))))))))) Congrats on the bun in the oven!
Well I need to get off of this, spent an hour just catching up! I'm probably going to go out today so maybe this evening I'll be able to come back.
Just been lurking. Went down Wed and had TD with Scotty. He gave me his whole plate so is good that I took him a ham sandwich. He will not eat their food. He will dry up and blow away. Had dinner Thurs. and all three boys here. Joe my oldest proposed to his lady and she said yes. He is so happy for the first time in his life thank God. Trying to get my daylily book organized. LOVE &HUGS BEV
Waving to all, typing on the run, just know if I stop that's the end of me day..
Yikes, only 2pm seems like it should be midnight. When you start your day at 4:30am makes for a long day. Realized I still had 4 rows to put on moms rag quilt, got that done before 7:00..
Linda arrived at 7:00..we base coated the candle holders, hers and mine..then into the bush we went for greenery, got back. Did the crackle on our pieces then quickly to grocery store for pie supplies...Linda never had luck in making pies..taught her with a fail proof recipe, within 1/2 hr she had 6 crusts made..I kept one for lemon meringue pie, tonights treat! Then back to base oat the candles..
While drying we did 2 greenery arrangements for my niece, Linda' youngest, my G od daughters urns then back downstairs to finish her project.
Omg, had to laugh at myself, here I went all over the world looking for wreaths for our project, needed 40.. Lo and behold while making bows for the planters, there was a bag with 15' far nicer with glass beads..where was my head. Lol
She was on cloud 9 with all she accomplished. Off she went, a happy camper.
Decided it was a good time to make my lemon pie, no sooner did I start did friends Pat and Don drop in..chatted with them for awhile..
My goal is to now, before I get too tired is to go to laundromat to was mom's quilt..did learn my lesson, no more wrecking my regular washer..needs the big double loaders..if I sit for 5 minutes I'm done in..besides, cut greenery in heavy rain, so feel damp all over..you should see my perm. Lol. No you shouldn't..quite a site!
Oops. Linda just called, dropped the florals off to Stephanie who loved them, she fell n love with Linda's candle piece and kept it..said she'll be back before Christmas to make a few more. Says she thrilled about learning how to make non fail pie crust..
Will be back with photo's and talk about your day
Off to laundromat
Then tea and pie for us all
Hope you did not fall asleep at the laundromat Betty! You have been very busy today!
Pie looks, good, I'll have a slice please? I have hot apple cider to go with!
Hate to cut into, know if I do I'll be eating all on my own..but then once have turkey, turnips, mashed potatoes there may not be enough room..
Got to tell you, my craft room is beyond messie..need to find enough energy to at least clean some of it after supper..
I'm a hair away from crashing!
Now that I've bored you all with my day, let me go check in on yours..
Debbie, would imagine the nerve ends are tender, I'm with Kathy, you will have to go in search of grannie gowns, loose fitting so you are dressed up yet comfy. You will so miss your border, what made him decide to move in with another family?? Wouldn't be his own family would it?
LindaKay, did you do anymore on that beautiful quilt?
Imagine like Laura, Barb is also sewing up a storm, now what on earth are we all going to do once January comes and Christmas sewing rush is over!
Bev, glad you got to spend Thanksgiving dinner with Scotty...Lordy with not eating what they cook he must be skin and bones. Ohh a wedding, how wonderful..your thoughts on his choice?? Wonderful that he put his life back together..must make you feel wonderful..something to look forward to..when will the wedding happen?
Crissy, what is a tryptophan? Lol. Get to anything exciting today? Any news on a car for Dave?
Katie, sure am pleased your arm is better, just dont overdo! only hope mine takes a turn for the best, of course if I'd rest it...but that is not going to happen...do you find a lot of illness in your region?
LindaKay, anymore turquoise velvet, that was my favorite for the Santa.
Can't you see by my non stop chatter that I'm wound up like a top, cleaned craft room a bit, didn't eat yet, if I want dessert I'd best eat something first..maybe then I can settle in..
Raining Betty? Drizzling here and the temps are so warm it feels like early fall.
Managed to get into Kingston for a bit today. Santa Warren used his walker but still found it quite strenuous. He is sound asleep already and this after a long nap when we got home. The most important things are that Santa Warren wanted to go and was able to keep on top of his pain. The main mall in Kingston was deserted when we got there this morning but by the time we left it was jumping. If the sales are this good now what in heaven's name are they going to be like as Christmas nears?
Quill looks like she if going to go into 1 of her spells tonight so I have already gave her 1/2 of a tranq in hopes of reducing the severitiy when it hits. My heart just aches for the little girl. Well she is not that little - over 100 lb but we still call her our little girl.lol
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Three cheers on finding your brace Katie. Guess those darn dogs wanted you to find it, right?
Everyone out of their turkey haze? Crissy is right the tryptophan will sneak right up and get you.
Mary is the tree up and decorated? We actually saw people buying live trees tooday - bit too early for a live one I would think.
Sweet dreams everyone!
Dianne
We have a very heavy drizzle here Dianne. Temps, as you said, are really warm. The weather liars are saying mid week it is going to be nasty!
I sat home all by myself and totally enjoyed the peace and quiet today. Going thru some papers needed done, no one to bother me. DH and I were talking....first time without a "strange child" in our house in over 2 years....had a homeless teen here almost non stop during that time.
Dianne, keeping Quill in my thoughts, that poor baby. How old is she? Can't believe Izzy is having a birthday Dec. 4th and will be six! Happy Santa Warren is resting peacefully....I know he enjoyed getting out and seeing all the lights and decorations. Is there appointments this week??
Debbie
Debbie, Santa Warren is the proud new owner of a pair of jeans that fit him. Sears had a Black Friday sale that lasted for 3 days. 50% off on all Levis 501.There was a change room for the handicap so we were able to use that. There literally were like 6 people that were customers at that point in time on Level 2 of Sears. DH liked the jeans so much he wore them the rest of the day. Man they are soft, that is the first thing DH said about them.
Quill is 10 she will be 11 in the summer.Right now she is outside. Stormy is having a fit as she is outside on HIS leash and out his door. When she goes into 1 of these spells her eyesight seems to go - she has no awareness of where she is as she wanders. The interesting thing is she will wander then lay down for 30 min or so then wander again. I have blocked off the stairs so no worry of her falling there. Sassy who usually has nothing to do with Quill trys to stick to Quill like glue when she is having her spell. Sassy tries to lay as close to Quill's body as she can. Now Sassy and Stormy just love each other and you can often find them sleeping together.
Betty I hope you managed to get some dinner and crashed - you were sounding weary. This getting up before dawn is great for getting things done but it sure catches up with you as the day goes on.
Will be there with you tomorrow Debbie when you see the doc. Santa Warren sees the Palliative Care doc tomorrow afternoon - so we have yet another day of going into Kingston. DH was to see Chemo doc on Wed but since there is to be no chemo there is not much point in wasting both Dr Gregg's and our time. I am positive there are dozens of cancer patients who would love to get off the wait list and see Dr. Gregg.
Betty we went to XSCargo and ended up buying a ladder bookshelf - they didn't have any gel pads in stock but will be getting some. While there I also bought 3 runners , 2 for the dogs and 1 by the kitchen sink. Great price plus the mats can be washed. Whooo hooo.Have never been in the store before but would certainly go back.
Thought I was ready to go to sleep but now my eyes are open like a hoot owls. Darn!
Dianne
Betty, I am waiting on fabric to arrive to finished the quilt, hopefully sometime the middle of this week.
Hello everyone! Sorry - been missing - very busy around here.
Had Poinsettia Tea & Bazaar yesterday at the church - I was selling at the Bake Table. Grabbed some sandwiches for the other 2 ladies and I to eat (we'd paid for tickets - should have some sandwiches, dainties and tea, right?)
Had company for dinner that night - Bob made the Hawaiian Pork and cleaned the house.
Then, one couple that Forgot the dinner, came for dinner tonight - nice couple, just she's very forgetful!
We had choir at service today, and I'd had Loads of tea beforehand so was able to sing - no coughing, thank goodness!
Dianne - you have XSCargo in Ont, too? kewl! Great place, eh?
