Sue, I love any vege soup.
Got a suggestion here:
instead of adding canned diced tomatoes, basil, oregano and thyme, just use a can of spaghetti sauce. Delmonte's Spaghetti sauce has all those seasonings. Sometimes I use fire roasted tomatoes to give the vege soup a punch!
For a cabbage soup, I was out of canned tomatoes one day, I sub with a can of Spaghetti sauce, add chicken broth, beans and cabbage and it turned out perfect!
I love using Pict Sweet frozen veges.
Thunder, I was anemic till I got on Unsulphured Molasses. Surprisingly I've become regular since then :D Google Unsulphered Molasses benefits, you'll be surprise.
Quinoa is pricey but better than white rice!
Thanks for the hugs and prayers sistahs. Kinda apprehensive about seeing the doctor.. but it need to be done if I were to get my prescriptions refilled.
That's another thing.. catch 22.. need meds.. and they're all synthetic.
There are no herbalists in town and what can sub insulin?
Susan, if you're lurking.. I'm glad you called. Missed your lovely voice!!Good night sistahs.
Sweet Interruptions 230
Get a good nights sleep Jaye, and hopefully a good report from the Dr.!
I'm home.
Spent 3 hrs. at the doctor's office.
Thank you all for the prayers. They mean so much to me.
Good news... my AIC test (diabetes) is @ 7.1. The last time it was @ 11.
Normal should be @6. Praise the Lord.
Bad news.... my bp is 180/100. I'm taking the max on Diovan, so,he's adding another brand. He says to keep checking my bp everyday.
Good news... Doctor finally agreed to give me something for depression and stress. He said maybe that's why my bp is sky high.
He gave me an EKG test as I've been having chest pain. That comes out normal, PTL!
Thanks sistahs.
YEAH for the good reports! Now try to ignore the MIL situation, and get that BP down!
That's a great report Jaye. You are really doing well and I'm so proud of you....
Barb, I thought of Norm immediately when he told me that!! Aha, same as Norm's AIC result!!
I'm grateful that my sister sends me all the test strips I need!
Thanks LK. Kel can really see for himself how bad his witchy mum had affected my health.
The bill was close to $700. I felt real bad for him, as I still have to take more tests and see the doctor again next month.
Poor guy told me he just wants me to be back to normal. This is a man that is not verbally expressive on his love, but at least he shows it by not complaining about the bill.
Jaye, it is what it is and will get taken care of in time just like all the rest. I'm just so glad you are getting better. I go to a surgeon for a consultation next week. Need to have my gall bladder removed. oh well, it could have been worse!!!!
Jaye, that is a hefty Dr. bill! Sure hope Kel can get you on his insurance soon?
Hi all - no, Jaye - wasn't lurking - wasn't on!
Anyway - taking a sick day - slept today from 9am to 2pm........ then the phone rang. It was Bob saying he needed info saying HE was on the account so he could get paid. The cheque I gave him had my name only.
Now I'll have to go to the bank to get the info for him so he can get paid. They won't do it over email. Has to be the form from the branch..... just had some hot tomato soup, so will get dressed and go. Not that I should be going out in the winter with Bronchitis, but I have to...........
Jaye - get your bp down, please! good news on the other stuff.
Yikes Jaye get that PB down girl. good news on the numbers of the other stuff.
I was watching Dr. Oz and he talked about depression. St. Johns wort or SAM e but it can interfere with other meds . Just a thought
oh and dried tart cherrys at night will help you sleep.
Lima beans are good for us too. :) Oh and there is a tea also ..... shootle bugs can't remember the name of it .... will get back to you on it.
may I recommend something for you miss Jaye??!!! More sewing, for get about everything. and sew, sew, sew,...... it is the only thing that can take away all my "cares/worries" :) just let yourself get lost in the fabric, the colors, the feel of it. the design of the block, the pattern of the quilt.... stress will give you chest pain , and high blood pressure. hope the meds work good, and fast.... go sew :) BIG HUGS
Susan, hope you feel better soon too!!!
now I am gonna go do some DE-stressing with my sewing machine ^_^
Ladies, can you please add my sons girlfriend Heather to the prayer list please? She is 6 & 1/2 months pregnant and in the hospital with labor pains. They are giving her meds to stop them, as they don't want her to deliver just yet. Thanks
Thunder, that was what I tried to do. But my mind got bogged down, and depression won sometimes.. Still I managed to sew up kitchen towels and forced myself to join uneven jelly rolls to turn them into simple throws.
I can't tell you that plenty of time my tears would just fall onto the pieces I'm sewing. Well, at least I can tell my sister that there were blood, sweat and real tears in their Christmas gifts!!
Thank you Thunder for your encouragement.
Diabetes has lots of complications. One would be BP problems too. Then there's the diet. Nope. you won't find free flowing salt in this house, but I tend to overseason with Tony's! I don't use water.. only stock when liquids are asked. Got to start doing my own stock or get the sodium free ones.
Moreover it is football season, so I am GUILTY of munching on football food, like overly salted potato chips, processed meats like hot dogs and sigh.. that overbuttered popcorn.
Sad part is MIL is equally affecting my bp and depression!!!
Sue, I tried SAM e, got it from WM., but somehow it's not working. I didn't try St. John's wort.
Cherry stem tea is good for fluid retention when you're feeling bloated.
I love lima beans.. tell me what it is good for?
Susan, please take good care of yourself. Seems your immune system is down, are you doubling up on your vitamins?
Got your plea on FB, Linda.
Said a prayer for Heather and her baby, and I'll continue to do so. In fact, she was on the earlier (supposedly to be 9) prayers.
Before I go to bed, I'll beg the Lord again.
Tomorrow, I'll be shopping for more frozen veges, aromatics and start a sodium free pantry.
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready.
Marion posted this last night in the prayer thread...
I have returned home for a while and I thank each and everyone of you for your thoughts and prayers. I will never be able to express how much you taking the time to post has helped. My son had been out of state working when the latest happened with his grandmother. When he returned from his job requirements he came to see her and I came back with him.
Before Mom was sent back to the nursing home, she had to undergo a scope of her lung. Actually they "cleansed" the lung and took cultures to send off for more information. We were told she has bronchitis, pneumonia and the lung has liaisons (no cancer) and a cavity caused by acid reflux. She was moved back to the nursing facility when she stabilized from the procedure. She is extremely weak, sleeps more now and her appetite has decreased a great deal.
After many questions and discussions, it was suggested I come home to take care of some issues here...the fact our a/c - heat unit chose this time to die!!! The Hospice rep. said if there was any change they would call me direct rather than going through my sister. So I am trying to get some things done for a small family holiday before returning to stay an extended length of time with my sister.
Again, thank each of you for your kind thoughts and prayers. A wonderful holiday to all and take time to hold those who are so dear and precious to you just a little closer!!!
Thanks LK for bring that over to this thread. I was exhausted last night and just couldn't finish doing all I wanted to do.
Trying to get things done here in the event I should have leave at a moment's notice. Abbigail's birthday is Saturday and I need to finish getting her gifts and their Christmas things together. I haven't seen them yet but hopefully it will be tomorrow.
No news today so I am considering that good news.
Prayers are being said for Heather!
Jaye - thanks for reminding me of the vitamins......... best go take some.
Feeling worse today - guess going to the bank and breathing in the frosty air didn't help.
Went to Bible Study today, cuz I wanted to bring the 2 fleece baby blankets I made. Didn't want to wait until Sunday. One of the moms that comes babysits a wee one, and she used it this morning. He snuggled down into it and was a little lamb - fell asleep right away.
Susan, you need to stay home and keep warm yourself! Get better soon!
We may need to tie her down in that bed to get her to rest!!! Susan, you NEED to take care of you!!!!
I try, really I do, but "life happens" and I'm required by the Lord to do stuff for Church, friends, and family.
I repeat what I say to others - sometimes you're called upon to do more. After all, there are many far worse off than I.
My bronchitis reminds me of those who have no breath at all, and I remember that I have arms and legs that work, a roof over my head, Bob & I both have jobs, and are able to be warm and fed.
I'm thankful that I have medication to make me well, and the Dr I am able to see to Get that medication.
I am blessed with friends, both online and IRL, who care that I am well.
Thank you, my dear friends, for all you mean to me.
Here are a few Christmas ornaments I am making out of fabric.
http://www.mccallsquilting.com/patterns/details.html?idx=13203
Beautiful, LK!
Very very nice Linda. are they paper-pieced?
They are 1 & 1/2 inch circles then glued together. Look at at the link, it tells you how to make them. Time consuming, but they came out cute. I still need to glue some glitter on the edges.
that link does not look anything like your photo :( ?????
Well, I finally posted the Christmas box to my buddy....... thanks to my DH who took it to the PO
very pretty LK
such good news, LK - now, here's hoping she doesn't want to Lift A Finger!
That's wonderful news about Heather!!! And even more so that baby is okay. Prayers work!!!1
I don't remember much of what I've read, forgive me.
Nursing a splitting headache and could be due to the new meds... or waiting on news about my uncle who's dying. Thank God for FB. My cousins try to keep us up to date without having to spend a lot of $$ on overseas phonecalls.
LK, PTL that Heather and baby are okay.
Those balls are so pretty!!!
Marion, so glad you have a chance to return home to take care of Christmas 'musts'.. especially for the DGDs.
Susan, I say this with love. Remember that Jesus rests on the seventh day of creation.
That said... do rest more. Chronic bronchitis' main agitator is fatigue.
Hi Barb.. Thunder.. Sue..
Sorry you have a headache, make sure your taking all your meds your supposed to! Sorry to hear about your Uncle not doing well. Praying he is not in a lot of pain.
I'm drinking Ginger drink - made with pure ginger.
Got some "interesting news" at work.
Apparently there is a hiring freeze, and my direct report-to didn't realize I was still a contractor. This may mean that they aren't filling this position permanently.
There's someone leaving, in the office, but he has MS Scheduler as a skill-set and it would be something I could learn easily, but don't know it now.
Which means..... I may not be employed much longer or may be kept on as a contractor temporarily........ ?!?! I'm feeling discouraged right now...... I have no job security, and it's disheartening.
I know Jaye, I know...... I work so hard at any job I undertake, but it doesn't seem to matter.......
Sue, we will be praying for you.
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
Jaye sure hope your meds are kicking in and making you feel better!
Thanks for making sure we have breakfast, LK. Very much appreciate that.
Don't give up Susan. You know God rewards His children who gives their best. You're on your way to better days!
My uncle died last night. His kidneys shut down, and God's been merciful as to take him one day later. Think he was 75.
He's a diabetic and his legs were amputated a few years ago. His oldest daughter has been taking care of him at home.
Nope.. no such thing as nursing homes in Singapore when you have kids.
As for the meds, LK...the anti depressant isn't working, I might have to double it. But will wait till Monday.
Oh yah.. Deborah (Cordeledawg) says HI to all. She didn't realise her subscription has expired. Said she misses us and will try to renew it.
Sorry to hear about your Uncle Jaye. Sending prayers of comfort for you and the family! (((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))
hugs Jaye
Sending prayers and hugs Jaye.
