ok ok - I broke down last night and got some fleece PJ's.......
They look so warm........ but not the ones with the footies!
I haven't worn PJ's since I was little. Used to wear gowns, but not PJ's. These are sooooo warm that I put them on while sitting watching TV during the evening! After all, that's mainly what I got them for. :-)

crissy tell me it ain't so with the Forever Jammies or do you have a similar type. ?
the reason i got them for her is because she is the lazyiest person.
oh and she called me to ask for money for food. Oh my heart aches and i want to run out and get her some but i have to stick to my guns and teach her a lesson . *sigh*

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Be strong Sue! You have all of us to lean on!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Sue, tell her to tell her boyfriend to buy some food!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, it gets terribly cold where you're at, I think you need thermal PJs!!
My little niece is going to Germany for a week, and the guest hosts had adviced her to bring any thermal clothings if she had, extra leggings for under her jeans, a pair of fleece lined boots and a thick fur hat. Poor girl had to use the biggest suitcase just to pack all that extra 'warmth'!
Brrrrr....

Sue, I agree with Thunder and LK.
You got us for support, but don't let your DD break your spirit.
She's NOT going to starve.
What's that saying "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man TO fish.. he'll never starve"? Something like that?
So.. teach her the values of choices!
This is the best time for her to see whether her boyfriend will man up and take care of her.

Read this and you'll have an idea what I'm dealing with.
MIL managed to make more enemies today. Crazy woman drove into a neighbour's driveway because she didn't care for the ambulance being parked in HIS driveway!!! Said FIL can smell the diesel fumes (ambulance was not running and about 100 yds. from her house). When neighbour refused to move the vehicle, she took off to the owner of the ambulance service, who's a 3rd cousin, thinking he'd do something about it. He said the neighbour, his employee, isn't violating the company's policy ;)
The irony is, this cousin is one that she turns to , when she can't get hold of Kelvin to help Murdock.
Anyway.. not happy with his reply, she drove back to neighbour, and FINALLY, neighbour had the balls to tell her to get off his property.

Like a petulant child, she blames it all on Kelvin, as he should be the one telling everyone off.
Even though it's her neighbour and Kel has no quarrels with a cousin that's willing to wake up at 3 in the morning just to clean up Murdock!!

When all this was happening, Kel was sleeping the day off!! I am very certain that cousin and his medically trained wife will not pick up that phone when her number shows up on their caller id!!

Good night sistahs.. smile.. at least we are the sane ones.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you have had quite the day with dear MIL? bet she was quite peeved when no one moved that ambulance!

Morning everyone! T.G.I.F.! Coffee is ready, and hot apple turnovers to go with!

good morning
wow Jaye that is just plain old crazy ? ! i agree i m sure they won't be sending her a christmas card either ?
stay strong sistah . we are hear for you.
yes i will stay strong and stick to my guns
Dh did go and give her money, she gave him a story about her lost card .... so i think he just needs to experience this first hand and see it for himself.
i m going to go buy some clothes today . i have gained to much weight and my fat clothes are so old and raggy looking from 5 yrs ago . gosh i look homeless.
so off to the gym and a small snack
good day to you all

good morning LK :) good coffee thanks

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs!! I love turnovers. Thanks for the breakfast LK.

Buying new clothes always give oneself a stronger self image. Good for you Sue. Pssst.. and get some sexy lingerie too ;)
It's hard to validate crazy alone. Now Tim will see what you're facing, and hope that your DD will walk the line, now that there are the two of you she had to deal with.

Well, MIL probably may get a X'mas card from that Buffkin, but I know she'd be missing that giant fruit basket that he sends every year. Plus, he took upon himself to bush hog a stretch of property when FIL can't do it for 5 years now!
He's an amazing Christian, Kel says he'll forgive her again, but will certainly be less generous with his time.

Her shenanigans, thank God, never threw a dark shadow over Kel's character as the whole town knew that they're polar opposites.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Sue it's flannel but I don't know if it's a different brand or not, there are many different brands out there. Flannel is flannel though, right?

Jaye I hate to say this but your MIL is crazy and needs medication. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this crazy woman and I feel bad for Kel having to grow up around that!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Here is a Christmas quilt finished. The blocks are from the swaps here I have been in!

Beautiful LK!

Jaye - I agree - your MIL needs meds! (the strongest kinds, too!!!!)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, you did a fantastic job putting them together! It's too prettttttyyy to be used!!
Love the serpentine stitch.

Crissy and Susan, she sure had been drinking some kind of koolaide! Darn, not strong enough like Jim Jones :D

good morning sistah's
crissy i love flannel and footy pj . i have seen them and like them . but this one i got for my dd is similiar but blue and not flannel. just cheap acrylic . i just like the name Forever Lazy. it fits her.
Jaye sending you strenght through prayer sis.
well off to clean the house

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Have a neighbour lad putting up the house lights tomorrow. I'm not up to climbing a ladder for it, and Bob doesn't want to, so this year we'll pay to have it done! $11/hr isn't bad, right? Two hours for a quick-limbed teenager! We only have the one-storied trailer, and it's only the front, so that's quick (maybe some of the inside of the deck where we can see it?!?!)

Just came back from the Dr/pharmacist and I'm back to using the puffer for my bronchitis. Also got some antibiotics. Still have the puffer tube from 2010 and now just added the meds. Hope it works better this time around.

Today I'm going to clear out the living room and decorate the tree, etc. For the first time I have a Christmas village - given to us by a friend who's moved and didn't want it anymore. 5 buildings - looks sweet all lit up on our piano top.

Better get "to it" and clear the living room - cya later!~ Geeeze - maybe a nap first, is in order.... yup - off to have a nap.

have a good nap susan . :) i could sure use one too.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I laid down, but couldn't sleep. I opened some of the Christmas decoration boxes, and when Bob got home we managed to put the tree up. Then we went to WalMart and I got some stuff to put in the Shoe Boxes for the Samaritan's Purse (Children's Christmas presents). We take them to the church tomorrow, for them to take to the main drop-off centre.

Well, it's after 11, so should get some sleep..... ciao all - take care :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! Hot biscuits with sausage.

I have not been sleeping very well, as Sometime early Tuesday morning, someone came into our yard, and stole a 4 wheeler we had. Sure makes one very uneasy, knowing someone came into the locked, fenced yard and took some of your possessions! We called the police, and made a report, but it is gone. Now the Grandkids will be so upset when they come in for Christmas. So we have put up alarms on the property, and more security lights and are looking into getting some sort of video surveillance.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

linda, so sorry to hear that. i worry everynite our 2 will dissapear. we put dusk to dawn lights up, plus the electic companys security lights

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

that just SUCKS Linda K. home owners insurance should cover that. ?? I would think??

I don't sleep a lot, but when I do.....I sleep ...dead to the world.....I often think a bomb could go off next to me and I would not know it!!! so some one could easily come in, and I would not know it!!! thank goodness hubs would hear anything, maybe that is why I know I can sleep so soundly.

good morning
LK i m so sorry to hear of the theft.
not much going on here.
over cast and cool out.
got lots to do but has to wait until monday :(

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone. We have insurance, but it was only worth a few hundred dollars, so were not going to make a claim.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sorry to hear about your "yard invasion" and the theft! Will you not be replacing it before Christmas?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't kmow if we will replace it or not. A new one will cost $$$$$$!
Morning everyone. Coffee is ready! Hot oatmeal with raisins if you like, wheat toast and OJ!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Brand new 4 wheelers cost a bomb! So sorry LK. Kinda brazen to be robbing a huge object in a fenced yard.
At the shop, we have dusk to dawn lights, xtra security lights and vid. surveillance cameras.
For home, we have 2 security lights, and ferocious looking Hambone that barks at strangers.
It helps too that the word in town is this Chinese isn't afraid of using firearms!

I'm not a light sleeper Thunder, but Lola wakes me up if she hear some unusual noises in the yard. Normally it will be the cats fighting.
I'll only get up and check when Hambone's barking as well.

As usual, not decorating for Christmas here, Susan.
Maybe I might tie a red ribbon around Hambone!
Kel picked up the last "Angel" name at work, and so happened to be a little budding artist. She'd have a good supply of paints, crayons and sketch books.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Were looking for a good guard dog too Jaye! No luck so far!

Glad to hear your buying gifts for the Angels! Bless you for doing that!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, I'm glad this year, we could do at least one. When we think Christmas ain't necessary for us, there's always a kid that needs cheering up.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

was it here that I mentioned getting a juice recipe from my doctor??? supposed to be good for getting rid of that blah tired all the time feeling, also good for aches and pains, and full of antioxidants, and healthy omegas.

2 ounces Acai (ah-sigh-eee) juice
2 ounces pomegranate juice
2 ounces, any other juice you like.....but blueberry is preferred as it is also very good for you!! twice a day.

I have been using a blueberry pomegranate mix, from Northland.

the Acai juice is available at most wal marts, at mine it comes in a small 8 oz bottle, or a 32 ounce bottle..it is in the dairy section near the oj, it is in the produce dept in some stores.

the pomegranate juice is in the dairy section also....big bottle of Acai is $ 6. and change. big bottle of pom. is $10.88 expensive..sorta, as you are only using 2 oz. it lasts a long time.

I am being called to supper. be back.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thunder thanks for the recipe.
I've taken pom juice before.
Right now, I found one tbsp. of molasses a day helps too. Supposed to be taking 2tbs, but can't afford the 8 gms of sugar per serving.
If it works for you Thunder, good!!
My gf's DH in Houston swears by Acai. He's been taking it for a few years now.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I definitely feel less "blah" after almost a week of twice a day.....I did find I have to drink the 2nd one early enough as to not keep me awake...I have enough trouble with that as it is....or drink it when I am very tired, just before I get into bed...

I am not so sure yet on the aches and pains aspect of it, as I have been working more days, which means doing a lot more, of more physical things.... I have been a bit achy all over, but I think, not as bad as I normally would be, for the amount of work I have been doing, so maybe it is helping some what.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I know some one who drinks bottles of water, with 2-3 tbsp of cider vinegar, and 2-3 tbsp of honey mixed in......that is all she drinks all day ! she says some days 5-6 bottles, some a little more, some a little less. Her bottle was a large one, I would say at least 16 oz., maybe 20?

she says she was told it is great for aches, like from arthritis , and fibromyalgia. She swears that her hips and knees were so bad, she does not think she would be able to walk if not for this "juice" !!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Pom juice is good for the heart, and it was my doctor that recommends it. I quit taking it for the reason you had mentioned.. $$. I asked him, if I'm taking pom juice, can I stop taking the other meds? He said, it's double insurance if I don't stop with the meds.

I have fibro, and am taking Lyrica for that. It doesn't seem to help. But then what can reverse nerve damage?
I'm going to look up on the properties of Acai by itself.

Thanks Thunder!

would them juices have lots of sugar in them ? i have seen them in the stores and they do look yummy. i love juice !
Jaye i have been taking Nutritional Yeast . a flaky stuff. no taste. add to oatmeal, soups or any other food.
i do shakes with it or add to my soups
cheaper then the juices. many vegans and vegetarians use it . Braggs is the maker.
my shake i do
ice
plain yogurt
honey
fruit of choice.
nutritioanl yeast
Physilliam husk ( fiber )
i add my vitamins
and add to blender
its good ,but much better with juice but i can't do the sugar in juices. though i love juice ! or did i mention that already ?

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

amounts of sugar in the juices per serving, which is 8 oz is about the same as a serving of cereal, you are dividing it because you are only using 2 oz at a time. I think the pom juice is about 7g per the 2 oz. most orange juices are 28 - 30 g per 8 oz.

considering some of the "crap" I have been known to eat...I think that number is not too bad... I am working on eating better...
a very hard task for me, as I don't often feel hungry?? and tend to grab something quick and easy, so much easier to grab a pop tart, than it is to fix a bowl of cereal!!! and I don't like milk !!! I do like fruits, and yogurt. Also many vegs..and we are trying to bake a lot more ( not easy with a retarded oven) instead of frying. and eating more fishes, and chicken. it is a work in progress.....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi sistahs.
Am barely here. Weather has warmed up to the high 70s. Yep you can guess it, it's not helping my recovery any. I also been increasing my insulin from 60 to 70 units before each meal.

Well, I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow, so say a prayer for me, as well for Sis Kathy here.
I know Synda hasn't been around much, but please add her to your prayers, as she's facing some health challenges too.

That said, Thunder I am very proud of you for starting to eat better. Malena wants you to be there for her kids ;)

Sue, anything that you read up or learnt to help us with our help, of course it's greatly appreciated.
Psyllium husk is the best to regulate your BM and I used to take Brewers Yeast for all the B12.

I'll see you all tomorrow. So sorry if I disappoint my sistahs here.
Love to all.

Thunder those are good numbers for the sugar. considering what other juices have. LOL to funny on the oven . do you stir fry ? good way to get some fast food in you that is healthy.
lets see i believe that 2 TBS is the equal to 1 gram if i remember correctly ?
i hear you on the crap eating.
sugar is my crack ! LOL
i agree a pop tart is my friend but my fat butt tells me otherwise LOL
Jaye take care and sending healthy vibes and prayers to you and sis Kathy and to synda too. with lots of (((()))) to you all.
here is a quick and easy soup

Some people eschew frozen vegetables, but they are often more nutritious than fresh ones that have been shipped from far away. They’re usually flash-frozen at the farm, resulting in more nutrients being preserved; vegetables that are allowed to age before cooking lose some of their nutritional value.

Ingredients
5-6 cups vegetable broth (I use Imagine No-Chicken)
1 16-ounce can diced tomatoes
2 16-ounce cans beans, rinsed and drained (I usually use 1 Great Northern and 1 Kidney Bean)
2 1-pound bags of frozen vegetables (my favorites are California Blend [cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots] and Italian Blend [zucchini, Italian green beans, broccoli, red pepper])
4 cloves minced garlic
1 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoons oregano
1/2 teaspoon thyme
a shake or two of hot pepper sauce (Tabasco)
black pepper and salt to taste
OPTIONAL: 1/2 cup small pasta OR 2 cups diced potatoes OR 1 cup frozen corn or other starchy vegetable OR 1/2 cup of quick-cooking grain (pearled barley, millet, or quinoa) or cooked rice
Instructions
Put 5 cups of vegetable broth and all remaining ingredients into a large pot and cook until vegetables are done, about 20-30 minutes. If the soup seems too thick, add more broth. Taste and adjust seasonings before serving.
This can also be made with 2 pounds of whatever fresh vegetables you have in the house, as in the photo above which includes zucchini, cauliflower, and kale.
Cooking time (duration):30

Number of servings (yield): 8

This makes at least 8 servings, and though the nutritional breakdown will vary depending on the ingredients you use, if you stick to vegetables-only (no pasta or packaged meat substitutes) I think it constitutes a Core recipe for Weight Watchers and, if not a “free food,” a very low-calorie one on most healthy eating plans.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, sorry your still not feeling well. Hopefully the Dr. can help tomorrow!

Will be saying prayers for all in need.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Sue that soup sound delicious !! will have to print it out for my chef....(the hubs)

yes we stir fry, I love bok choy !!! and we use frozen over canned vegs, any day!!! canned = yuck :( I have a son who will NOT eat frozen peas ?? but he will eat the canned ones??

is quinoa sold near the rice?? I have heard of it before but don't think I have ever seen it?? of course I do not do much of the shopping either. Hubs and # 3 son get that task.

maybe I need to find Psyllium husk too. Doctor put me on an Iron supplement, and it has certainly changed my system...

Jaye big hugs to you, yes I want to be here for Malena's kids.
